Prior to joining CCPF Liz was an associate project director of the Forum on Asia-Pacific Security (FAPS), organizing diplomatic dialogues on regional security issues in East Asia. The organization is a project of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy, a nonprofit foreign policy think tank in New York devoted to Track II diplomacy.

After graduating from Bowdoin College in Maine, where she majored in Asian Studies, Liz taught English just outside Chengdu, China, for two years and upon returning she worked for an American publisher that specialized in Asia-centric books. In 2010 she earned a master’s degree in East Asian regional studies from Columbia University.

She lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her husband and their two daughters. She is a competitive squash player and will accept anyone’s challenge to a game of ping pong.

CCPF has made the arrangements for Zhong Hao to receive surgery at a top tier hospital in China. CCPF medical director Dr. David Roye, Jr., and team orthopaedist Dr. Edward Southern have volunteered to return to China to perform the surgery and we are working to get the necessary surgical implants donated.  Hospital expenses remain, however, which are expected to total 114,000 RMB – almost $20,000 USD.  As such, we are seeking to raise the funds to cover the remaining costs to help this smart little boy who loves to draw and dreams of growing up to be an artist.
