My daughter saw PS I Love You recently and told me I had to see it. She usually knows what I’ll like so I took her advice. And she was right on. Perfect chick flick for me. Two smokin’ hot Irish guys and several scenes in Ireland, complete with gorgeous Irish countryside and an Irish pub. What more could you want?

When the movie first started, and the main characters were arguing with each other, yelling and screaming, I was thinking, “you know… that’s the answer to a good relationship…. be with an Irish guy, because even when you’re totally mad at them and you’re yelling and they’re yelling and you’re having a huge fight… they still sound just so darned cute!”

I have to admit I am totally new at this blogging game. Not just in posting to one, but in reading them. In doing anything with them at all. I knew about them, of course, just never had much interest in checking it out.

But when I finally decided to start one up… and I still have no idea what direction it will take, hence the title “Random Musings”… I spent some time clicking the “Next” button and reading other people’s blogs. Although not what I would call addictive, I found it much more interesting than I expected. All manner and range of topics and personalities show through these writings. And quite a bit of creativity, even with standard templates they all look different and have a unique flair.

Each individual voice making their statement to create the collective whole. Sort of like the Borg.

I am very glad to have run across her photos today and plan to look through more of them when I get a chance. She is an amazing photographer, brought up in South Wales, and has been taking photos forever of her gorgeous country.

I would just love to live in this house!

Moh Designs was kind enough to include my vintage peacock cameo pendant in her bird-themed Etsy treasury, “Birds of a Feather! Gathered Together” today. It’s only up til Feb 7, so look fast, all the items there are really adorable.

My Aunt’s Beadwork

My aunt Madelyn does this absolutely stunning beadwork. She has been an artist forever, and for many years was a clay potter. Then a few years ago, she just decided to do something completely different and went into beadwork. Within a very short time she became well-known, her work published in several books and magazines, displayed in several galleries, and now her beaded kimonos sell to collectors, ranging from $3000-$12000 each. My aunt is pretty awesome. She does not have a website, but several of her kimonos are shown on the Mostly Glass website (all sold!) and there is a good article about her from Beadwork Magazine.

Wooden Arrows

My daughter was with me this weekend, and urged me to get my Mongolian horse bow out of the closet. My poor bow has unfortunately been neglected for close to a year. Surprisingly, we both did quite well at target shooting, even though it had been so long. My interest has been renewed and I’ve decided I need more arrows. Of course, not just any arrows. The crappy plastic ones at the sporting good stores just won’t do. I have to have the handcrafted, wooden arrows with turkey feathers And being the crafty sort of woman that I am, I have decided to try my hand at making them. I may not get to it for a couple of weeks so it remains to be seen how they turn out. I got the bow from a very old and dear friend of mine, Tim of Sabersmith (he’s the tall, dark and handsome one in the photo at right), an incredibly talented swordsmith. Above is a photo of Toth Istvan of Seven Meadows Archery, the Mongolian bowmaker who crafted my bow… such a cool shot!
