They come. They go. The remnants of our fashion folly are then packed in a box and stored in the attic or toted off to the nearest charity. Some day down the road will we wish we could do that with these tattoos? Just take that sucker off our neck and stick it in a box with those big-assed FUBU pants, the hair crimper, and the Ugg boots? Probably.

Why are tattoos the worst fashion trend of all time?

How long will it take for the fickle fates of fashion to declare tattoos as “so…yesterday?” It’s inevitable, you know. Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to walk away from this worst fashion trend of all time. Tattoos can’t be hidden away in the attic with the remnants of your black hair dye and your Goth duds. They remain a lifelong testament to your fashion gullibility.

Worst Fashion Trend – Tattoos on Old People

Have you heard the joke about the old woman with the butterfly tattoo on her breast that now looks like a dragon? Don’t laugh. That old lady might be you in 40 years…

The environmental damage of sun, wind, saltwater, and pool chemicals can take a heavy toll even on even the healthiest head of hair. If your hair is chemically treated – permed, colored, or straightened – this added environmental damage can be catastrophic. But, don’t despair. Your hair can be shiny and healthy-looking again without intensive salon treatments that will put a big dent in your budget. Emergency care for your sun-damaged hair is as easy as 1-2-3.

#1 Schedule a Trim

Sun and wind damage invariably leaves your hair with dry, frizzy-looking split ends. Even though there are products on the market that promise a temporary “fix,” the only permanent solution is to get rid of them completely. Schedule an appointment with your favorite hairdresser for a quick and inexpensive hair trim to remove those ugly split ends. There is no need for the full service that includes shampoo, condition, and blow dry. You will be doing those later after deeply conditioning your hair.

Be brave. Desperate situations sometimes require desperate measures. It is worth losing a full inch off the length of your hair, if necessary, to remove all that damage. You will be amazed how cutting off those split ends will yield an immediate improvement in the look and feel of your hair .

#2 Hot Oil Treatment

The oils produced by your scalp protect your hair from moisture loss and impart shine…

Why? It may be something as simple as the “law of unintended consequences” at work.

Long ago Anacortes dubbed itself “The Gateway to the San Juan Islands” because it is the only terminus for Washington State Ferry service to the islands of Lopez, Shaw, Orcas and Friday Harbor. Unfortunately, that label obscures the fact that Anacortes is located on one of the islands in the San Juan chain, too. Located on Fidalgo Island, Anacortes offers everything that the RV traveler will find on the the other islands plus a much wider range of sights, services, activities, and accommodations the other islands simply do not have. Let’s consider the advantages of making Anacortes, WA your destination when planning a trip to the San Juan Islands of Washington State.

RV Camping

Within 4 miles of downtown Anacortes, there are two distinctly different, deluxe RV resorts offering approximately 350 full-service RV campsites.

Fidalgo Bay Resort, located on a small peninsula of land jutting out into Fidalgo Bay, offers 148 full-service sites and a full range of amenities one expects in a deluxe RV resort including WIFI and cable TV. A few sites are beachfront, most enjoy water and mountain view, and beach access is just a short walk from any site in the park. Big rigs are welcome, as are pets. Wall Street

Stock markets tumbled substantially on Monday and Tuesday this week with the Dow losing nearly 200 points over the two days. Analysts blame equity losses on a pull-back in commodities futures, particularly oil, gas, heating oil, and gold. Market strategist, Peter Boockvar, at Miller Tabak & Co. told MarketWatch, “The correction in commodities…should not be ignored and will be the precursor to a painful 10%-plus correction in stocks over the next few months.”
This is bad news for the private investors who have not been able to recover the 30-40% losses in their 401K and personal investments sustained in 2008 due to the crisis in the banking and housing markets. Can your 401K stand another 10% loss in a market correction that some analysts say is coming in 2011? Most private investors would say no.

The problem is, the average Joe and Jane with his or her nest egg invested in the financial markets receives so much conflicting advice, it prevents them from taking any steps at all to preserve capital or, at the very least, minimize their losses…

I certainly made my share of mistakes (see how many you can spot).

Shop the Lower Priced RVs first
If you start your search looking at the top dollar rigs first, everything you look at at the lower prices will appear to be a bargain. So much so, that you’ll tend to excuse problems or blemishes that should actually be deal killers. The conversation in your head goes something like: “Yeah, it has a few problems, but I think I can fix those for a lot less than the $2000 I can save on the price.” Don’t bet on it. Scoop’s Law #1: Whatever you think it’s going to cost you to fix a problem…double it. If you have to farm the work out to an RV repair shop…quadruple it. Now, how far does that $2000 savings get you? Instead, shop the lower priced rigs first. As you move up, you’ll tend to look for justification for the higher asking price, which means you’ll be more analytical. Now, any flaws you find will become a bargaining chip for negotiating a lower price.

Look for a Private Party Sale

You are much more likely to make your best deal on a used RV if you buy it directly from the owner in a private party sale. Never assume, however, that the owner knows the true market value of their rig. Do your own research on the high/low book value that RV dealers reference and check out private party ads to see what the asking prices are on the same or similar RVs.

It may still end up going horribly wrong if I failed to correct the mistake soon enough…only time will tell. I’m talking about the RV refrigerator; that marvel of modern science that works on electricity, propane, and (in the high-priced models) 12V battery. Who knew that you absolutely MUST level out the RV when you park it to avoid wrecking the refrigerator? I didn’t and, as I have discovered, there’s more than a few clueless people out there just like me.

In a recent conversation with a local RV repairman, he told me that refrigerator replacement brings his shop a lot of business. Notice I used the word “replacement.” Apparently, that’s the only fix for a fridge with a cracked boiler resulting from operating it when it’s not level. And, when the boiler’s cracked, the RV refrigerator becomes usable only as a nice cupboard…or an anchor for your next fishing trip.

For recreational vehicle travelers, staying connected while on the road has seldom been easy or cheap, especially prior to the advent of Smartphones. Even after the new technology of Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Droid came along, the cost of the phones as well as the monthly data/calling plan priced a lot of us right out of the market. The good news for the RVer is that many of those obstacles no longer exist. Smartphones are now helping RV travelers stay connected even in some of the most remote locations.

Competition in the carrier market has brought both the cost of the phones and the cost of data/calling plans down out of the stratosphere. Even better, most carriers are now providing customers with the ability to tether their phone’s internet connection to other devices. Tethering allows customers to use tethering-enabled Smartphones as a modem to provide a broadband Internet connection for laptops, netbooks, iPads and other computing devices.

The RV travelers are embracing this new technology in record numbers…

Legal Questions Need Answers Before Ending a Business Partnership

Partnerships can be the most fragile of business relationships and are the ones most often dissolved. This may occur through a complete breakup of the business when all the partners (shareholders) go their separate ways – assets are sold, bills are paid, and the remaining assets are equitably disbursed to the partners. Often it occurs when one or more partners leave the company to start their own business or to enter into a subsequent partnership agreement with others. When the latter is the case, the dissolution of the original partnership often results in legal dispute.

Questions commonly arise regarding breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, unfair competition, the rights of shareholders, as well as over the terms of any partnership buyout.

The Partnership Contract

Whether created by a comprehensive written agreement or a handshake, business partnerships exist under a contract. That contract conveys certain rights, duties, and obligations of the partners, either expressed or implied. Foremost among these is that all the parties (those leaving the partnership and those remaining) have a fiduciary duty to always act in the best interests of the business, the shareholders (individual partners and/or stockholders), and the clients.

Breach of Contract

When a partner or partners decide to leave, it may constitute a breach of contract insofar as they fail to perform the oral or written terms of the partnership contract without legal excuse. Such terms extend to the employment contract. This is the implied covenant to act in good faith and deal fairly with the other partners. The employment contract may also cover an expectation to produce revenue while building and protecting the reputation and good name of the business.
