We are always inspired by a good quote. What inspires you?

As we get ready to celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend, let’s take a moment to say thank you to our Mom’s. They are the best teachers, care takers, best friends and cheerleaders we can ask for! This poem sums up how I feel about my fabulous Mom, Brenda! We would love to hear all about your Mom, too!

A Mother’s Love

To some love is just a word

To me it’s a feeling

A feeling I get every time I look into your eyes

A feeling I get when I realize you’re my mom

A mom who loves, shares,

Five Star Recess

Spring has sprung and what better time to start planning your breaks. You’ve earned it. So, go have a bit of fun, let your hair down, and get a little wild. The question is where to venture to this year? Well, Forbes has us all covered with their 2013 Travel Guide Star Awards (http://www.startle.com/forbes-travel-guide-star-award-winners/2013-star-award-winners), and this year they gave out more awards than ever before! The list gives you top hotels, spas, and for the foodies the top restaurants. The hardest decision will be what destination first. I say go with Hong Kong the city with the most 5 star hotels and work your way around the world. With such a large list there are plenty of destinations and you don’t have to stop at just Spring Break. Take a break every season this year.

Since January we have been lucky enough to have Eddie Groner working with us as an intern. Eddie has a love of event planning and aspires to own his own event management firm one day. When he isn’t busy finishing up his studies at Mesa College he loves to travel, dance and enjoy time with friends. He shares our love of wine and laughter! Post graduation, Eddie hopes to move to NYC or London to pursue his event management ambition.

We appreciate his willingness to dive into every project! Please help us welcome Eddie to our team!

Fifty Shades of Green

Leprechauns, clovers, and green beer –that’s right, Saint Patrick’s Day-March 17 marks the return of the annual celebration. I do not know about you but I do not need much of a reason to have a good time, and this “Kiss Me I’m Irish” (at least for today!) holiday is a perfect chance to enjoy some recess.

There are many options to take advantage of the fun this weekend!

Saturday, March 16th:

If you would like to start at the top o’ the morning, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Irish Festival in Balboa Park is always a blast! http://www.stpatsparade.org/

Sunday, March 17th

The main event on Sunday takes place downtown in the Gaslamp Quarter with the ShamRock Party (http://www.sandiegoshamrock.com/). Live music, clubs, bars, special Irish food and drinks can all be found at this event.

Of course, we would love for you to also check out our client, Company Pub & Kitchen in Poway! Celebrating their 2nd St. Paddy’s Day festivities, Company Pub will start with Irish Bacon Bloody Mary’s at 11:00 a.m., followed by all-day corned beef and cabbage. Grab the open mic / karaoke and belt out your best Oh Danny Boy while your Irish Eyes are Smiling! Who’s your Paddy now?

Whatever is your prime pick this Saint Patrick’s Day, sport your favorite shade of green and go play.

Celebrating Women All Month Long!

March is National Women’s History month and we have much to celebrate!!

Today is International Women’s Day so let’s get the party started this weekend! On Friday, March 8th, grab some friends and head down to the popular Cucina Urbana (www.cucinaurbana.com) for some great food and wine. Today they are offering a portion of the proceeds to a local non-profit, Center for Community Solutions (www.ccssd.org). Or on Wednesday the 13^th be a part of the International Women’s Day Breakfast (http://www.sandiego.edu/about/news_center/events/events_detail.php?_focus=44135) at USD.

Come Saturday experience something truly special and unique. The annual Cherry Blossom Festival at the Balboa Park Japanese Friendship Garden. The fun of this traditional Japanese celebration will be the cultural entertainment, street food, and activities for all ages. New to the festival will be access to the 9-acre Garden expansion and beer garden. A festival would not be complete without a nice cold one in hand!

Then end the weekend with one more international spectacle at the Copley Symphony Hall on Sunday. Dance Brazil (www.sandiegosymphony.org/calendar/view.aspx?id=3375) -an upbeat, vibrant, and acrobatic show of Afro-Brazilian movement.

If your pulse is not racing after all that maybe it is time for a getaway to Washington, D.C. and Virginia. The Smithsonian month long celebration of women and the National Women’s History Museum in Alexandria, VA are must to do on this trip.

One of the biggest contributions I will ever make to the event industry is to be a professor! I have the great fortune of teaching at the University of San Diego’s Event Management Certificate Program (www.sandiego.edu/emp) and at San Diego Mesa College. I thrive when I can engage and inspire future event professionals. I was very honored when the students selected me as USD Instructor of the Year for 2012. Wow!! Given the quality of my colleagues teaching in the program, this is a very exciting privilege!
