<p>As simple of a reason as it may seem, writing an effective article can become a turning point for most Internet marketers? businesses today, simply because of the ever growing lack of content and desire to inform shown by most writers and entrepreneurs out there. Actually, a concise and informative article will quickly stand out from the pack and give its author an edge over his/her industry colleagues on the Internet when done with the proper effort and consistency. Behind every single effective article we find four basic things: 1. Correct keywords and keyword phrases &#8211; it is very important for your internet marketing article to contain keywords that are related to your website, since 75 percent of the traffic on the Internet today, goes through search engines.</p>
<p>2. Proper keyword density &#8211; when done correctly, it will cause different search engines to acknowledge the article?s presence on the web. A piece of writing should have between 1-7 percent keyword density, so if you are writing a 400 word article, then you should be aiming for a maximum of 28 keywords in total. Be careful not to over-do this to avoid been penalized.</p>
<p>3. Good content &#8211; an effective article provides useful information, is well written and also entertains readers. It should also include facts and statistics whenever possible to gain its author credibility.</p>
<p>4. Correct bio / resource box &#8211; this is one of the most important things for all active Internet marketers when it comes to article writing. <p>For example, recently I received a phone call offering to help me make my site number 1 on Google. Intrigued I continued to listen. The caller told me that his company has &#8220;cracked the Google code&#8221; and can easily make me number 1 &#8211; leaving all my competitors in the dust.</p>
<p>Well, &#8220;cracking the Google&#8221; code was the first tip-off. If these guys were so good at being found on Google, why the hell are they still cold-calling me? I kept on talking, but now I started asking questions.</p>
<p>&#8220;That sounds interesting. What&#8217;s your website?&#8221;</p>
<p>Knowing a little bit about what a marketing savvy website might look like, I new that a peek at their site would help me get a better feel if this company is for real. But instead of getting a domain name, the caller told me to go to Google and type in specific keywords. He said his company would be in the top three spots.</p>
<p>I followed his instructions&#8230; Well, with some minor modifications&#8230;</p>
<p>Instead of heading straight to Google&#8217;s search page, I stopped by Overture&#8217;s Keyword Suggestion page to find out how popular that keyword is.</p>
<p>Do you know what I discovered? In the entire previous month only 17 people used that phrase to search the Internet! Now, being in the top three spots for these words suddenly didn&#8217;t seem like a very big deal.</p>
<p>The caller seemed a bit unhappy about my discovery. But still, he offered that I search a different phrase. Following the same routine I found 42 searches in the past month. Whoopi! What a deal, right? At this point the caller simply hung up on me!</p>
<p>But several of my friends were not so &#8220;lucky.&#8221; They are now two or three thousand dollars in the hole. And unfortunately for them &#8211; they will never see this money again, and their site will keep getting the same lousy traffic it was getting before! What saved me was a bit of know-how to properly evaluate the offer.</p>
<p>Because there are so many professionals and business owners who want to achieve &#8220;cheap and instant marketing miracles,&#8221; the most popular scams seem to offer driving traffic to your website, helping you achieve good positioning in popular search engines, showing you how to build a massive email list, and revealing secrets to quickly making a lot of money with your own information products.</p>
<p>These are all needed services, and good information on these subjects is invaluable to your success. Problem is how to evaluate if what you are getting is the real stuff or a bunch of bologna?</p>
<p>Here are a few clues to look for.</p>
<p>   1. Use your common sense. If the offer is too good to be true &#8211; it probably is! It never hurts to ask a few of your trusted businesses advisors to take a look at it before you commit to pay any money for it.<br />
   2. Do your own homework. Don&#8217;t take what the company or person tells you for granted. Heck &#8211; we all put our best foot forward in our marketing materials. Research both online and offline.</p>
<p>      Take a good look at the website. Does it follow the basic rules of good marketing design? Does it have good Alexa (http://www.alexa.com) ratings? Has it been online for a good length of time?</p>
<p>      Can you find out any case studies, customer comments, or endorsements from reliable sources? And for testimonials &#8211; anything that shows me just the first and last name initials and name of the state the person is from &#8211; I completely ignore as not credible. Look for full first and last name, city and state in the testimonial. If you can find audio and video testimonials, that&#8217;s even better. Ask around to see if you can &#8220;dig out any dirt.&#8221; Ask business associates in the same industry if they have heard of the company or the person. Check out industry related discussion boards for any negative feedback from past customers.</p>
<p>      You can also contact consumer protection organizations like Better Business Bureau, but I found that they are often more interested in protecting businesses who pay them an annual fee than really looking after consumers&#8217; best interest.</p>
<p>   3. Ask a lot of questions. Don&#8217;t let them intimidate you with pre-canned answers. You are about to part with your money &#8211; make sure you know exactly what you are getting.</p>
<p>      If the company is offering you search engine positioning, check their own results for popular and competitive keywords. (You can easily find this out with free tools like the Overture keyword popularity at http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion or this simple free software at http://www.goodkeywords.com )</p>
<p>      If they want to help you with your pay-per-click, ask to see their own pay-per-click ads. Find out how many different ads they are testing at a time, and &#8211; again &#8211; are they using keywords that someone is actually searching for.</p>
<p>      If they offer to drive traffic to your site, ask how it will be done. They should give you at least a very good idea even though they may not want to reveal all the details. Ask how targeted the traffic will be. Find out how the results are measured: in &#8220;unique visitors&#8221; (good) or in &#8220;hits&#8221; (bad). And these are just the basics. If they offer to make you a lot of money with teaching you how to start your information selling business &#8211; find out if they themselves sell any products outside of the &#8220;how to sell your products&#8221; ebook or course&#8230; You get my drift here, right?</p>
<p>      If you are hiring a consultant or a coach to help you out &#8211; do they have business experience and successful track record with projects like yours or did they just read an ebook about it last week? (Now, some people are just great teachers &#8211; and that doesn&#8217;t make them wrong &#8211; just know that the information will not be as hands on and real-world-tested as you might want it to be.)</p>
<p>   4. Can you easily find the contact information? That&#8217;s a big red flag for me. When I find great deals online but I can&#8217;t seem to find the company&#8217;s mailing address or a phone number and all I get is an email &#8211; I typically walk away. I want to know that if anything goes wrong I can find the person and pick-up the phone and try to resolve it. But it&#8217;s hard to do if they hide behind just an email.<br />
   5. Trust your instincts. OK, I know this one is highly unscientific. But if things just don&#8217;t feel right &#8211; it doesn&#8217;t matter how good the offer is &#8211; give yourself some time to cool off and take a second look at it when you can actually think logically about it. </p>
<p>Fact is, because there is a huge need for marketing information and marketing help, this market attracts a lot of people who couldn&#8217;t spell &#8220;marketing&#8221; yesterday but today are eager to share their advise with you &#8211; for a lot of money.</p>
<p>If there is one simple answer to help you stay safe and avoid being ripped off, I believe it can be summed up in two words: COMMON SENSE and EDUCATION.</p>
<p>If it looks and feels unreal &#8211; it likely is. And the more educated you are about good marketing and how it works, the less likely you&#8217;ll be to waste your money on shady offers.</p>

<p>In an increasingly noisy world, we are all becoming more immune and even resistant to messages and information from others.</p>
<p>Go back a generation or two and youâ€™ll find most business/personal transactions were done on a handshake with someone you knew or got to know through someone you knew. Your route to success today is still tied to your roots . . . the relationships you have built in your life, on trust.</p>
<p>A Network is a group or system of related or connected parts. The action form of Network is Networking â€” the exchange of information or services among individuals, groups, or institutions.</p>
<p>Both the Network and Networking are important.</p>
<p>Most people are familiar with the principle of Six Degrees of Separation, where it has been proven that almost all human beings are no more than six people or contacts apart. But without an intentional strategy to build your network or to be involved in networking, Six Degrees of Separation is only a mathematical principle with little or no intrinsic value.</p>
<p>Think about it. Who do you prefer to do business with and provide referrals for? The usual answer is people you already know. The key is to get to personally know and connect with even more individuals. The more people you are directly connected with, the more people you will have inside your network &#8212; and also waiting just six contacts away from you.</p>
<p>The art of building a valuable network is strategic in nature &#8212; it does not happen by accident.</p>
<p>Successful networking is built on trust. Essentially, it is more about giving than getting. Inexperienced networkers have the attitude of what can I get from this group or person when, in fact, the opposite mental set must be present to build a long-term network. Yes, we must be strategic with the individuals and groups with whom we connect, but we must have in our heart: what can we give or contribute, not what can we take.</p>
<p>Networking is also about quality, not quantity. It took me several years to learn not to be anxious or frantic when attending networking events or opportunities. I used to try to meet as many people as possible. With that approach, I met everyone but really knew no one.</p>
<p>Building relationships takes time and effort. This holds true in the networking world. I have found that if I go to an event or attend some type of networking opportunity and connect (not meet) with just one or two individuals, my time has been well invested. The challenge is that todayâ€™s society wants us to think that the fast and the furious win the race. When building a network, being focused and intentional is far more productive.</p>
<p>Networking is a principle that usually defies logic or predictability. Many of us will try to determine in advance who and what will come out of a specific network or contacts. My experience is the exact opposite. Your successful contact, connections, and contracts will usually come from where you least expect them. The best examples of this are the true stories each of us has lived.</p>
<p>Here is an example. In 1989 I joined the National Speakers Association (NSA) and attended my first national convention in Dallas, Texas. Admittedly it was an intimidating event; I met Zig Ziglar, Cavett Robert, and other luminaries from the speaking industry. On the first day, I met fellow Canadian speaker Brian Lee and we became friends. The next year at the NSA National Conference in Atlanta, Brian introduced me to his friend Patti, a trainer who lived in Atlanta. Patti and I also became friends.</p>
<p>Here is where the story reveals the power of a network. Two years later (1992), Patti called me, &#8212; all excited. &#8220;Ken, I have just met this person here in Atlanta who is looking for trainers for a large project in Canada. I gave Jim your name. Here is his information . . .&#8221;</p>
<p>I called Jim the next day and soon thereafter, we met. Jim and his committee selected me to work with them. That single contact referred by Patti resulted in a contract with a Fortune 100 company that, over 10 years, was worth over $10 million dollars to our firm. Never could I have anticipated or predicted that sequence of events. I also wonder where I would be without that single contact made with Brian Lee over 15 years ago.</p>
<p>No matter what your need, focus, or interest, there is almost always an association, network, or group of like-minded individuals. Find out who and where these groups meet. Use the Internet to search for these groups; they range from obvious business organizations to associations for Parents with ADHD Children to thousands of other groups.</p>
<p>I encourage you that whenever possible, be part of a live event. The impact and quality of a person-to-person interaction cannot be replaced by phone calls or email.</p>
<p>Be intentional, be strategic, be giving, and watch what happens. You will be amazed at the power of networking. Remember the old clichÃ© &#8212; success is not about what you know, but who you know!</p>
<p>Action Steps to Help You Increase the Value of Your Network</p>
<p>1. First you must acknowledge that your network and networking are highly influencing your success level.<br />
2. Building a true network of value does not happen by accident.<br />
3. Become intentional and strategic about your network and networking activities. Determine how you want your network to look and who should be in it. Define its reason or benefit.<br />
4. Find out where the individuals you want to target are already meeting or if they are already part of a network.<br />
5. Be clear about your objectives and purpose.<br />
6. Always, always, always focus on what you can give &#8212; not take &#8212; from the network. Think of what you can offer or contribute; let people know about it.<br />
7. Become likeable, confident, interesting, and attractive.<br />
8. Think quality, not quantity.<br />
9. Stay connected on a regular basis in some form or another &#8212; by letter, email, phone, or in person.<br />
10. Be willing to let go. Sometimes you might think an individual or organization fits your purpose, passion, and direction but if that is really not the case, acknowledge that you might create more mutually beneficial relationships elsewhere. Because none of us has unlimited time, we must prioritize our networking and networks.<br />
11. Have fun, enjoy, and let the process unfold. Donâ€™t try to control it &#8212; just be in it.</p>

<p>1. Forgetting your audience. When you are copywriting, you are writing it for someone. That person may be your client, but ultimately the audience is the person you want to act based on what they have read. It does no good to write to make a particular client happy if the audience will not respond to what you have written. Hopefully you have found yourself a client who knows the audience he is trying to reach.</p>
<p>2. Not knowing your product. When you are trying to write about something that you do not know, it shows.
