What Is Google +1 And How Will It Effect Your Business?

Whether or not it is going to be a game changer or not is still yet to be seen, that will depend on the Internet community and their desire to adopt another thing from Google.

In March this year, Google released Google +1 to the public. In essence, +1 is Google’s way of making search results a little more personal. Google may just have found the way to give the power back to the Internet user.

Imagine google users being able to +1 their favourite search results for others to see, this information then gets shared with his or her contacts via Google profiles. Just to clarify… You must be logged into your Google account in order to use Google +1. Still don’t see the +1 icon? Go ahead and visit Google’s experimental search to “activate” +1 on your search results.

One of the short comings with this whole thing I see is that you need to be logged into your google account at the moment for it to work, and then it gets shared with your google profile contacts. I DON’T use it…so how effective it will be is still up in the air.

I do believe that with the money that Google has to promote +1, we are set to see a real change in the social environment and a real shake up of websites.

My thoughts though about google +1 (google plus one)
I think we are going to be in for a ride. I think that Google has realised how much power facebook, twitter and other social media engines are having on the internet world and if they didn’t do something they would lose ground very fast.

We have already seen facebook moving into the area of search engines, (I don’t particularly like theirs, but they have one), now we see google trying to allow the internet surfer to have more of a say into what is important and what isn’t.

The new google plus one (google +1) is set to make sure that the websites truly become a powerhouse of important information. Not just blogs full of junk.

So how is all this information relevant to you?

For the average user, it probably isn’t important at all, however for the internet marketer who relies on Google traffic, +1 is going to impact your rankings and your income.

If you’re a webmaster and you’d like to know how you can use +1 to your advantage, carry on reading.

Google is all about improving users experience, so google +1 is going to do that.

With the current system, that’s just not happening. Why? Simply because marketers know how to “game” the system with black hat SEO and automated link building. Automated link building tricks Google into thinking a website rocks and is really popular. (making it rise in the SERPS)

When in reality it probably sucks, provides little to no valuable information and pitches some crappy product. The truth is that Google has been fighting off marketers for years. Doing everything they can to provide quality on topic information for their users. So really, +1 is Google’s first major step in making their search engine a more “fair”, friendly and social place.

Will this put an end to all the crappy sites out there? I doubt it… I can’t see this +1 thing catching on, it might even be a huge failure. Although I doubt +1 will put an end to crappy websites, I can see it helping some of the quality websites out there that don’t take advantage of automated link building.

So…. Google +1 is being incorporated into Google’s algorithm, therefore influencing website’s rankings all over the web. How much +1 will account for a website’s rankings, I don’t know. However, it’s definitely a good idea to install the +1 button on your website.

If you didn’t know already (I am pretty sure you would though) google has been using social media “likes” and “retweets” in their algorithm for some time now.

So how do you install +1 and take advantage of Google’s latest change? Well, you can manually create a plus one button yourself. Or you can install the Google +1 wp plugin. Once installed, the +1 button will appear above or below your posts (you choose) just like the Facebook share or Tweetme button.

So my final thoughts about google +1 (google plus 1)

Google is going to continue with their desire to improve customer experience and there is a lot we can learn from them. Will they get it right at the start? I don’t think so, however they will give it pretty good go. We will see many people’s blogs and sites rise out of no where and many well known ones crash, whether this is right or wrong I don’t know, all I know is we better be ready for it.

You will see many “social tribes” coming up with ways to try and beat google, but in my opinion, it is always the people that win.

Have you ever thought to yourself: ‘What is a mastermind?”

I know I had no idea until about 18 months ago thanks to Klemmer & Assoc. I attended a personal development/results program where our entire focus was to obtain some pretty big short term goals.

The program was called “Samurai Camp” (Sam Camp for short). We worked individually but were supported by small groups of 6 – 8 people. It was a life changing experience and I will write more about it in future posts. Today I want to take you through ‘Masterminding”.

Part of the Sam Camp experience was to form a master mind within a small group. This was to help everyone stay focused even after the program was complete.

Everyone came from different walks of life and had different strengths that they brought to the group, however we all had one thing in common…We believed that the other person could achieve what it was they wanted to achieve…

This was the foundation of the group…BELIEF!!!

Most times in life we don’t have other people who are prepared to stand by us. People are prepared to believe with you that anything is possible and if you are prepared to take a stand you can achieve anything.

Sure you need to work…however it is believing for your mastermind group member, that what they want will come to pass.

Masterminding is not about working more, it is about believing that what we have asked for is going to happen…it is not a goal…it is a request. I believe a request to God which the others agree upon.

So let me give you the basics around this…please understand that to get masterminding correct, you really should attend a course like Sam Camp with Klemmer & Associates.

1. Be clear what it is you want from life. Double mindedness DOES NOT WORK in this or any part of your life.
2. Be with a group of like minded people…not people with excuses but people who have made a decision to move forward with life.
3. Make sure the people are committed to you and their own success.
4. Meet every single week via webinar or conference call.
5. Share 3 REQUESTS (you are saying each what you want and the others are agreeing with you…they have the right to challenge you on it, so be prepared for some interesting conversation.)
6. It is not just about ability or activity. It is about FAITH – “Things hoped for that are not yet seen”…
7. Expect your requests to happen…remember the more you want and believe the faster it comes to pass (although there are MANY times you have to learn some stuff first)

Sure there is a lot more we could talk about on the topic of Masterminding…and the more I learn the more I will share with you…

I do want to leave you with this one thought though, it is amazing what can happen when you work together with a group of people who are prepared to work with you and believe that you can achieve what is in your heart.

I believe those desires have been given to you by God (the good ones anyway) and that if you are prepared to work with Him He will help you…

OK this is a big question that I think everyone should be asking themselves…”Should you mastermind?”

In my opinion I will give you a BIG FAT YES…

Masterminding is not just about getting together with a group of people, putting your requests out there and hoping something happens.

That thought process is for the quacks.

Masterminding is about being with a group of people who are prepared to keep you sharp and on your toes. People who are prepared to stand with you even when your faith starts to drop.

But it is even more than that…Being part of a mastermind keeps YOU focused on what is important to you and also what is important to others.

You see, when you are part of something like a mastermind, you are there not just to get what you want, but to help others get what they want. I am sure you have heard that somewhere else…

“help enough people get what they want and you will get what you want!”

Extra points for you:

1. So choose a small group of people, around 5 – 6.
2. Commit to get together each and every week at the EXACT same time.
3. Each week submit your requests BEFORE you come together. (we use google docs for this)
4. Clear anything off your chest at the start, anything that would stop you from being a valuable contributor to your mastermind.
5. Be attentive on the mastermind. (Don’t be on your phone, facebook, youtube, talking to others…stay focused)

I am not going to lie to you…masterminding requires your commitment and your time. But so does EVERYTHING.

It is not about giving something a go, it is about just doing it.

Work from Home Mum tells you her Secrets on how to create your ideal office

It is so important to know how to create the ideal office space to allow you to maximize your opportunity to be a work from home mum. Anybody can send off a few e-mails whilst sitting on the bed watching the latest TV programme, but there a few points you should implement to get the best out yourself and make your home business a productive and positive experience.

Create a calm working space

Create a calm working space, you do not need to have an office with 4 walls and a door but you do need your own space to work with enough room for your computer and telephone etc.

Be Organised

Be Organised, use a diary or schedule to keep time your appointments. (You may also need help with time management, please read our help points for time management for work from home mums)

Work from home to fit around family commitments

You might want to work from home to fit around family commitments, and it is becoming more and more popular but your family need to understand that you are making the change to improve the financial situation and by working from home you will be saving yourself valuable commuting time. Your children in particular need to understand that just because you at home all day you are still working. You need to make them aware that you are out of bounds when they see you at your pc, unless, of course, it is an emergency.

Discuss this important change with your family and friends.

You must ensure your friends are aware of your changes and why you have made them, as they may think because you are now home all day you have time for coffee and a chat or you are free for a shopping expedition. Your relatives may now think that you are free to pick up little Joey from nursery or they can drop of the children so they can go out for the day. Explain to them the hours you have set aside for working and that even though you are a work from home mum you still have commitments and work to do for the success of your business.

Avoid trying to integrate working at home with childcare or household chores – set separate times for each. (see our time management for work from home mums further help in this area)

Importantly discuss with your partner exactly what being a work from home mum means to you

Importantly discuss with your partner exactly what being a work from home mum means to you and that you are not taking a sabbatical but you are going to improve the family situation by becoming free of the daily burden of commuting to work and the endless hours of miss spent time. This commitment must be shared and your partners understanding in this can be a great benefit to you both.

Important things to remember

1. Make a comfortable place in which to work where you will not be distracted
2. Get organised – with the family and with your work
3. When you have finished working for the day, switch off the computer and relax.
4. Make the most of your free time and enjoy with your family and friends.

Why be stuck in an office or factory all day when the best financial freedom you can achieve is possible from your own front room. You and your family deserve it.

Have you heard the latest news, work from home moms are breaking all the records when it comes to the home business industry.

In this article we look at this new phenomenon that is taking the globe by storm and we ask why these inspiring women have taken on the men and won. We will look at how Work From Home Moms are earning more than their career counterparts and in some cases their husbands.

It would seem that the fear of economic uncertainty, no job security, an increased cost of living, and a major desire to improve their standard of living, is driving change for moms who work from home.

More and more woman are demanding the right to be able to stay home and look after their family while at the same time being able to contribute to the family income.

Work from home Moms are leading the charge, and I for one am excited to see it. They seem to have found a way where they can be a mom, a wife, a friend and a major business owner all at the same time. They are earning more while working less. Seem impossible? Well it’s true.

Let me give you my story. You have more than likely seen a lot of my husband on this site (he likes to show off), my name is Kasey Hannan and I am a wife, friend, and a business owner (mom who works from home).

It was in 1998 that things had to change for us. We were at a low point financially, so much so we couldn’t afford shoes for our daughter and we would save for 2 weeks to go out for coffee.
Now things are very different. We have two major global businesses that we run from home helping people all over the world do what we have done.

Today I am going to reveal some of our secrets in the hope that you will be able to do it as well.

Below I will outline what I believe are the most important things you must do to see success and achieve the results you dream of.

1. Be determined

I do not say this lightly. I have seen too many moms who want to work from home fail because they lacked the determination to see their business through to the end, or to a place of profitability. Instead of using the strength that allowed them to be the women they are, they let their dreams slide by, and gave up.
To them it all became too hard. Come on, we can push out babies, run a house, organise a man and keep our friendships, running a business is simple in comparison and can be just as much fun (although running a house and pushing out babies is not that much fun).

2. Understand your limits

Yes I know some of you are thinking “What Limits?” Well for the rest of us mortals we understand that there are only so many hours in a day and so many days in a week.

Unrealistic expectations that we put on ourselves can cause major disappointments. So look at what you can do and work within those limits. Now this does not mean that there are not certain things you can do to give yourself more time and allow you to be able to complete more jobs, I am just saying don’t set the pole so high that not even “Wonder Woman” could get over it.

3. Time Management

Now you understand that you can only do a certain amount of things in your day, you should be making sure the things you are doing are productive and giving you the results you are looking for.

Don’t get caught up in unimportant activities.

Plan your day, week, month and year and then understand that there will be things that you did not plan for and will require your immediate attention. Even those supernatural moms who work from home, you know the ones we all marvel at because they seem to be able to get everything done and still look amazing, have to put “Margin” into their diary.

Margin is that magical little piece of time that allows us not to stress because we have not filled our diary so much that we cannot make changes.

4. Use your natural gifts, don’t rely on those supernatural ones to always kick in.

You have God given talents. Take a moment to sit down and work out what they actually are.
One of the things my husband is always telling me is that all woman seem to network very easily because they have a genuine ability to care.

In business this would be the first thing to write down. The gift of caring is powerful in the business world because it is the person who can care who will be the one who is trusted, and it is the one who is trusted who will be the one that gets the business.

This leads into our next point.

5. Find something you believe in.

If it is the person who others trust, then they are the one that will get the business because others believe them. Make sure that if you are a mom who is going to work from home that you have a business that brings value to other peoples’ lives, and it is something that you believe in. You will not get anywhere if you have a business with products or services you don’t believe in.

6. Be prepared to learn new things.

This is one of the most exciting things about being a mom who works from home. All the new things you get to learn.

Through our training events and online webinars etc. we are finding many woman who are so excited about the prospects of learning how to build a business and use the internet, plus the amazing offline strategies to work from home and stay with their kids, and build the lifestyle they are looking for.

7. Don’t quit.

This should go without saying however many of the moms who work from home or should I say “worked” from home gave up too soon.

They threw in the towel after only a matter of weeks even though it was not costing them a cent. What a shame. All of their dreams they let go of so easily. Don’t be one of those moms. Make sure you are the one that keeps going and does not give up.

So work from home Moms, what are you going to do? Are you going to make a stand and build a business from home that you can be proud of? Something that your kids will look at and say “My mom did that?” Or are you going to let your dreams go by.

Of course you are going to do it!!!

Too many times I have heard from people “I wish I knew why I was here, I mean on this planet?”

Have you ever heard that before? Maybe even thought it yourself?

I know I did for a long time.

I remember as a teenager thinking, I am here for a purpose a reason bigger than I know, I just couldn’t figure it out.

I would go to bed thinking for hours about what that purpose could be, at times getting frustrated but mostly being excited about the possibilities and where I could end up.

I believe we all have inside of us a deep sense of something great we are supposed to do, something that will not only impact our own lives but the lives of others as well in a positive way.

We believe this when we are young, however as we start to get older and life becomes more real, something happens. We put our dreams in the too hard basket and think that they were just a dream and dreams don’t come true, do they?

Our family, friends and work collegues put down our hopes and dreams because they have never acheieved theirs so how are you going to achieve yours.

What a joke. You get forced to live a life by other peoples rules. They force you to give up and not go any further.

You become like the crabs in the bucket I speak about in the video below.

I want to tell you something from my heart.

Firstly, dont believe what other people have told you. They are not the ones in control of your destiny, YOU ARE.

Secondly, it takes courage to dream, so dream big.

I remember when I first got started in our business.

I heard a lot around Goals and Dreams, the thing was I was totally confused until I heard someone say:

“Your dreams give you the energy to get your goals, your goals give you the money to get your dreams.”

When I heard this, it was like all the lights went on inside of me.

Many people are afraid to dream, it is like their lives have been lived and now is the time to let it all go and accept that this is the way it has to be.

Let me tell you a secret…That is NOT the truth.

The truth is, you have that dream for a purpose, a reason. It is your dream and it should be fulfilled.

Dreams give us something to work towards, something to fight for and go after. Without them, life would become quite dull and meaningless.

Do yourself a favour, write your dreams down, even better, go and cut out some images of your dreams from magazines. Put them on a A3 piece of cardboard and build your
dream board.

We are not meant to forget out dreams, we are meant to fight for them…so join me and fight for your dreams.

Put some short term goals in place and go after them. Start small and work you way up.

I have heard it said that “We over estimate what we can do in a short term, but under estimate what we can do on the long term”

Remember:

“your dreams give you the fire to get your goals, your goals give you the money to get your dreams”

Let’s talk about how we all, that’s right all of us, set ourselves up for failure when we write our goals.

It is simple, yet so true. We put “Unrealistic Expectations” on ourselves.

A good example is when a new person gets started, they make a decision that they will earn over $100,000 per year in their first 12 months. When asked how much they make now, they answer “$30,000″, so you probe a little deeper, “Have you ever made over $100,000 per year before?”…”No”… so we go a little deeper…”have you ever been in business before?”…”No”…”Do you have any more to spend on advertising and training?” …..”no”.

This is what I would call an unrealistic expectations.

It doesn’t mean it can’t be done, however it is more than likely not going to happen.

You see, no matter what you are going to do requires skills to be developed. Skills that take time to grow and then know how to be used.

Learning how to make over $100K per year, are a different set of skills to what you use to earn over 30K per year. Can you see what I mean?

Believing that when you first get started that you will be a 6 figure income earner in 12 months without going through the road of skill development, is a fairy tale.

Be real with yourself, YES if you are prepared to put in the long hours to short cut your learning curve, then it can be done (I mean I did it), however don’t think that you will do it without pushing yourself.

So the biggest killer I see with new and old networkers is they have “unrealistic expectations on themselves, their team, their mentor and their company.

Take a look at where you are today and where you want to go. Ask yourself a serious question. “Are you prepared to work your tale off on learning the skills and putting into action immediately what you learn?”

I hope you say yes, then find yourself a mentor, someone you can run with, someone who knows what it takes and will help you do it.

They won’t do it for you, however they know how to encourage you every step of the way.

I have a great quote that goes like:

“We over estimate what we can do in a short amount of time, but under estimate what we can do in a long amount of time”

Let me ask you a question…what does it feel like when you have someone to run the race with, someone who comes along side you and is as excited as you, and wants to run with you every step of the way?

For many people, that kind of experience is never realised, however in this business, it should be happening regularly.

I have a group of friends in my team, they have become my closest friends after working together now for over 7 years and going through the battles that we all experience, battles that have to be fought for you to become the leader you were born to be.

Let me tell you that there is nothing like having someone who you can run the race of chasing your dreams down with.

You get challenged, excited & encouraged all at the same time.

You get forced to grow and not stay in the same place.

One of the biggest walls people face when they have someone to run with, is they think they need to be as good as the other person, this is not the case.

The other person is there to help you stay focused and make sure you are active, not as someone for you to beat…it is not a competition.

So as soon as you can, get someone that you can run the race of building your business. You encourage them and run with them and they do the same with you.

Sure one may have more ability or skill than the other at the start, but over time, things even out very quickly.

The best people to run with, are the ones in your own team.

A great friend and team member sent me this in an email and it was so powerful, as everything was that came from this great man, that I had to post it here for you.

Why Weigh, Count and Measure? by Jim Rohn

Three key words to remember: weigh, count and measure. Now why weigh, count and measure? To see what your results are from your activity, your attitude and your philosophy. If you find that the results are not to your liking, there are only three places to look. Your philosophy needs to be fine-tuned, your attitude needs to be strengthened or your disciplines need extra skill. But that’s it. Activity, attitude and philosophy create results.

Now on results I teach that life expects you to make measurable progress in reasonable time. But, you must be reasonable with time. You can’t say to someone every five minutes, How are you doing now? That’s too soon to ask for a count. Guy says, “I haven’t left the building yet, give me a break!” Now you can’t wait five years—that’s too long. Too many things can go wrong waiting too long for a count to see how you’re doing.

Here are some good time frames:

Number one: at the end of the day. You can’t let more than a day go by without looking at some things and making progress. The New Testament says, “If you are angry, try to solve it before the sun goes down.” Don’t carry anger for another day. It may be too heavy to carry. If you try to carry it for a week, it may drop you to your knees. So some things you must get done in a day.

Number two: A week. We ask for an accounting of the week so we can issue the pay. And whatever you’ve got coming, that’s what you get when the week is over. Now in business there are two things to check in the course of the week: your activity count and your productivity count. Because activity leads to productivity, we need to count both to see how we’re doing.

My mentor taught me that success is a numbers game and very early he started asking me my numbers. He asked, “How many books have you read in the last 90 days?” I said, “Zero.” He said, “Not a good number.” He said, “How many classes have you attended in the last six months to improve your skills?” And I said, “Zero.” He said, “Not a good number.” Then he said, “In the last six years that you’ve been working, how much money have you saved and invested?” I said, “Zero,” and he said, “Not a good number.” Then here’s what he said: “Mr. Rohn, if these numbers don’t change, your life won’t change. But if you’ll start improving these numbers, then perhaps you’ll start to see everything change for you.”

Success and results are a numbers game. John joins this little sales company. He’s supposed to make 10 calls the first week just to get acquainted with the territory. So on Friday we call him in and ask, “How many calls?” He says, “Well.” You say, “John, ‘well’ won’t fit in the little box here. I need a number.” Now he starts with a story. And you say, “John, the reason I made this little box so small is so a story won’t fit. All I need is a number because if you give us the number, we’re so brilliant around here we could guess the story.” It’s the numbers that count—making measurable progress in reasonable time.

Here’s the best accounting. The accounting you make of yourself. Don’t wait for the government to do it. Don’t wait for the company to do it. But you’ve got to add up some of your own numbers and ask, “Am I making the progress I want and will it take me where I want to go now and in the future?” You be the judge!
