OMG, I just realized I have some semi Sarah Palin hair going on. Now I just need some knock-off Sarah Palin glasses.

I am a past-President of my local Kiwanis Club and have a goal to someday to be the Lt.
Plus I admit I’m still in my pajamas as I write this. I’m running late, and I haven’t even started to pack to leave for New York City after my son’s football game tonight. Will be attending Affiliate Social Media Summit and SMXE, so if you’ll be there, look me up! Throw me a tshirt, and I’ll wear it here!

Whenever I see the name Chitika (pronounced CHIH-tih-ka),
I think of Chiquita bananas.
And then I think of that Gwen Stefani song,
“Hollaback Girl“ B.AN.ANAS. Bananas.
So here I am in today’s free shirt from Chitika Advertising Network.

I have never been a big fan of contextual / in-text ad programs, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and decided to try them on a site of mine. At first I tried Kontera ContentLinks, but didn’t find the ads to be anywhere near relevant, thus the click-through conversion rate sucked.

After seeing that PerezHilton.com uses Vibrant Media in-text ads that shows totally relevant ads, I decided to apply. Well, they denied me saying I didn’t have enough traffic. Ok, I’m not exactly Perez Hilton yet anyway, but you gotta start somewhere.

So, right now I’m using Chitika Linx. And I just went to check the relevancy of the ads…
“gossip girls” brought up “Raquel Welch”
“black leather” brought up “McCain for President”
“hot pink” brought up “Sarah Palin Tanning Bed”
Now considering the page did talk about Sarah Palin and Raquel Welch wigs, the ads themselves may be relevant, but the words they chose to highlight the ads on is a fail.

Since I have yet to earn enough to receive a check from Chitika, I think I’m going to remove the Linx and try Chitika eMiniMalls - their new flagship product that they’ve been bragging up (and Joel Comm recommends) that claims to provide users with relevant content and comparative shopping information.

And then I’m gonna reapply to Vibrant Ads.

At Affiliate Summit East in Boston, ShareASale handed out special “got babies” tees, in which I had my god-daughter, Merin, model for me (isn’t she cute?) I didn’t let her keep the SAS-Boston shirt though, as I have a friend (a fellow Kiwanian) who has a little boy named Boston. It was too boyish for the little Hannah Montana fan anyway.

I also scored a new black tee, prepackaged as ShareASale’s signature star. I had Merin hold it in the picture, then washed it before taking my mug shot in it, as opposed to my previous white ShareASale tshirt. I suggest yellow tees made up for the next run since yellow is their signature color associated with the star logo. And well, I’ve been told yellow is a good color on me.

It was great to see Brian, Carolyn, Sarah and David in Boston! Yes, I missed you Nate. I have yet to meet Michael, Brian’s brother, though. A couple years ago at an Affiliate Dinner in Chicago, I remember asking Carolyn why Michael never attends functions. Carolyn had me believing that Michael was a figment of Brian’s imagination - that Brian was really Michael. And I believed her, as it all made sense why I had never met him! You had me going, Ms. Carolyn! I guess Michael was in Vegas, but I missed him! Maybe next time?!

Anyway, if you aren’t associated with ShareASale.com yet as either an affiliate or a merchant, you are missing out! They are the best network at listening and implementing everyone’s ideas! I got invited to the ShareASale Think Tank 2008 in San Diego next month (last year in Scottsdale was AWESOME), but I am disappointed that I will be unable to attend - my son is a senior football player, and I don’t want to miss the Parent’s Night game! I will get to see the ShareASale gang earlier that week though as I’ll be in NYC for Affiliate Summit Social Media (ShareASale will be hosting another fabulous party) and SMXE.

On a final note here is the screenshot from ShareASale’s website yesterday in rememberance of 9/11…

ShareASale will be closed for the day of September 11, 2008, in memory of those lives lost, and to honor the heroes from that morning and thousands of other mornings when peace was chosen over war. The events of September 11, 2001 touched millions of us both here in the United States of America, and abroad. For each life that was stolen, a memory and a legacy was left behind to carry - and for those who carry them, life has changed forever. Each year, we close our offices today and we encourage others to take this day in rememberance not only of what was lost, but also in celebration of everything that we have in our lives. The families of victims from that morning would give anything to spend one morning with their loved ones, we encourage you to go out and live today to the fullest that you can. Affiliate Marketing can wait until another day. We will never forget those who lost their lives, or those who gave their lives in the hope of saving another.

Way to go, ShareASale! And thanks for the shirt/s!

P.S. What do you think of my new Wordpress theme? It’s GenkiTheme (Fixed Width)

I’ve actually been thinking of getting a nanny myself, as I’m a single mom of four high-maintenance kids (and their father never takes them). Actually I thought about just finding a college student and offer them free room and board and a little extra spending cash, as my kids are in school during the day. But I could use help with running them here and there and everywhere, and some cooking and cleaning would be nice. It’s on my to-do list, along with reading 6312 emails (and that’s after MailWasher).

Today’s Free Shirt is courtesy of C28.com.

I’ll proudly wear this shirt as 1) I’m a Christian (Lutheran to be exact), and 2) this now classifies me as a “young adult”. This particular shirt is their NOTW Pray For Our Troops Shirt. So, that brings me to 3) I also support our troops.

“Pray for our troops” reads across a ribbon that’s tied around the NOTW logo. Hidden in the stripes of the flag is the scripture: “For the Lord your God is the One who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.” Deut 20:4. “Jesus” is found at the end of the ribbon showing it’s only through Him we can even pray. It is by Jesus dying for us that we have victory “By His stripes we are healed”. Isaiah 53:5

Cool, eh? The C28 Christian Apparel affiliate program is housed at Avantlink and is managed by GTO Management - Wade Tonkin and Karen Garcia are great affiliate managers! They are also big sponsors of the Christian Affiliate Marketing Association (CAMA). I attended the CAMA Cruise in Boston and besides good fellowship, I gained a new Twitter avatar (right) from it (better than my manga). And if you aren’t following me on Twitter yet, well, you better have a good excuse.

Now I have that “And they’ll know we are Christians by our love” song stuck in my head. Believe it not, that is the only song I know how to play on my acoustic guitar. Reminds me attending church camp at Kamp Kaleo as a kid.

Thanks for the shirt guys!
