What plans are in effect for your state (those on the east coast) when a natural disaster occurs?

It is not just those who live in the pacific/Indian ocean regions that have to be aware and prepared.

Scientists believe that it is only a question of time that a huge tsunami will be generated by the eruption of Cumbre Viegja Volcano in the Carney Islands. They posit a major eruption could send a 12 mile portion of the island into a landslide into the Atlantic Ocean. When that happens a wall of water of 40+ feet would crash into the Eastern Seaboard. The wave would travel over 500 miles an hour and we would have on the East Coast about ten hours to prepare for the worst disaster in our history. I hope Japan is a wake up call for others. Especially FEMA, here in the States.
Also, are their any seniors who are volunteers with their county’s Emergency Preparedness program?

I wonder if there are benefits or good effects caused by tidal waves. I want to know what they are.

If there was a big disaster nr your home or work would you go and photography it?
would you photograph everything (died and injured peopel)
Would you sell the photos to the press?
would this afect you?
would you like to work for the police, fire service, the press as a photographer in this situation or just keep away?
I posted this because some people doing photography don’t think about the ethical side of taking images. I think this extreme shows how it could affect anyone with a camera in the blink of an eye, Do I don’t I take the photo
