James Bond director Sam Mendes has said Daniel Craig is a "real man" on screen, just like previous 007 Sean Connery. The Oscar-winning director has released his first video blog on 007.com from the set of the new film Skyfall, in which he reminisces about watching the spy thrillers when he was a child.

Sam revealed: "The roots of me doing the Bond movie start way before anybody approached me, because I like everybody else have my own personal relationship with Bond, which began when I was about nine or 10 years old."The British filmmaker said he hopes to return the spirit of the Bond films, to those he remembers watching as a boy.

"I was genuinely blown away by Casino Royale, because of Daniel. I thought he was a real man in a real situation again and it reminded me of the way I felt when I watched the Sean Connery movies. "It struck me that it is still possible to make a big, fabulous, glamorous, escapist movie and yet at the same time to say something about the world that we're living in."

Daniel is returning for a third time as Bond following the success of Casino Royale and A Quantum Of Solace and the film also sees Dame Judi Dench return as M. The short video shows Sam, Judi and Daniel filming in dark vaults, a bright, bustling airport, and in Westminster, with the familiar images of the Houses of Parliament, a London bus and a tube station in the background.

The American Beauty director said: "Ironically I've never made an English movie. I've made six movies and this the first time I've shot in this country, which is an extraordinary thing. "So I feel like the American Years were my apprenticeship for doing the Bond movie."

LONDON: They are the quintessential moments that make James Bond such a very special agent. Fans of the 007 movies all treasure their own favourite memories that encapsulate their hero, whether it’s Little Nellie, Bond’s one-man autogyro from You Only Live Twice, or our suave spy dressed to kill in his dinner suit, reported the Daily Mail on Monday.

And now, to mark 50 years of the film franchise, a survey of movie-goers has revealed their 50 essential Bond memories. Top of the list comes 007’s silver Aston Martin DB5, bristling with gadgetry, followed by Goldfinger’s manservant Oddjob’s metal-rimmed bowler hat that decapitated his enemies, and then the indelible fact our Lothario prefers his martinis ‘shaken, not stirred’.

Maybe surprisingly, Ursula Andress – dressed in a skimpy white bikini as Honey Ryder in the first Bond movie, Dr No – comes in at a rather lowly 22, but she is still 23 places above hunky Daniel

Several of the movie moments chosen by fans are staples of the 007 films and include the opening title sequence featuring the hero aiming along the barrel of a gun. But other essential memories have made no more than a single appearance during the past half century.Goldfinger, which starred Sean Connery in 1964, and Live And Let Die with Roger Moore in 1973 both have five unique entries in the list of Bond magic.

Connery’s jetpack from Thunderball in 1965 and the incredible flying speedboat in Live And Let Die were also in the top five.

And who can forget the metal teeth of Jaws, Bond’s towering foe played by Richard Kiel in 1977’s The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker in 1979?

Or the gold-painted corpse of Bond girl Jill Masterson, played by English actress Shirley Eaton, as chilling now as it was when Goldfinger premiered?

Bond villains are as iconic as the secret agent himself and many of the moments chosen by fans are inspired by them.

Criminal genius Ernst Blofeld, who appeared in six of the 007 adventures, was never more sinister than when caressing his white cat, while double agent Rosa Klebb is remembered in From Russia With Love thanks to the knife which shoots out from her shoe.

The survey of 1,000 fans was carried out by insurance firm esure. The company’s Nikki Sellers said: ‘Bond is famous for the actors who play him, the villains and, of course, the girls.

‘We wanted to also celebrate the non-human stars of the films, such as the amazing cars, the wonderful inventions and the style icons.’Michael G. Wilson, co- producer of the Bond film franchise, said: ‘I couldn’t choose an absolute favourite because there are so many.

‘But the opening sequence from The Spy Who Loved Me, when Bond leaps from Mount Asgard in Canada with a Union Jack parachute, is probably my favourite stunt.’

Don Black, the Oscar-winning lyricist who co-wrote the Bond themes Diamonds Are Forever and The Man With The Golden Gun, said: ‘I’ve always had a soft spot for that car that takes to the water. It’s something that I always think about when I’m stuck on Hammersmith Bridge.’

Daniel Craig trains for two hours each day after shooting the new James Bond movie, says his co-star. The actor has been praised for his work ethic by Naomie Harris, who plays Eve in Skyfall. She is in awe of Daniel for his dedication to playing the suave British spy.

Naomie has revealed that after spending hours shooting scenes on the movie set, Daniel goes on to train for two more hours "after every day of filming”. "It's amazing working with Daniel,” the actress added to Newsbeat. “He's so down to earth, he's such a hard worker!"

The cast and crew have been filming the latest instalment of the 007 franchise for four months. Naomie admits the high octane scenes are taking their toll on her body, but she is enjoying every minute of it. "[I have] lots of bruises from all the action and stunts,” she confessed. "It's going super well… I am having an amazing time."

Meanwhile, director Sam Mendes was left “shaken up” after a car hit an extra during a high speed chase scene in London on Saturday. The filmmaker was in the black Mercedes – which had a camera on the roof - when it crashed into the man. The injured extra was treated by a medical team before being taken to hospital.

"All the cars were going full pelt. The man was clearly in good hands. He was taken to hospital as a precaution but he's all right," a source told British newspaper The Sun. Filming was delayed for an hour to allow the cast and crew to recover from the shock. Skyfall will be released worldwide from October 2012.

James Bond has never looked cooler - but then it's hard to look anything else when you're freezing your way through a shoot in the Scottish Highlands in February. A stony-faced Daniel Craig spent the day shooting a brooding scene for the latest 007 movie 'Skyfall' on a remote road near Glencoe with co-star Dame Judi Dench. In the scene, Craig, 43, dressed in a sharp grey suit, blue shirt and blue tie, meets up with M16 head M, played by Dame Dench, alongside a single track road.

The two characters then have an in-depth conversation overlooking the misty mountains. Looking immaculate - apart from a pair of rugged brown walking boots - Craig shot the scene with Dame Judi, dressed more sensibly in a purple three-quarter length coat and tights, before jamming his hand in his left pocket and pacing up and down the road between takes. An onlooker said: 'Daniel must have been cold spending all that time stood in the middle of nowhere, no wonder he had his hand in his pocket.

'Judi Dench must have been much warmer. 'The villagers were really patient, waiting at the barriers, but eventually they must have realised it would be closed for a while because they went away. 'It's really exciting having Bond filming on your doorstep.'The film - the 23rd Bond epic - is being shot on location in Glencoe near to Dalness Lodge, in Glen Etive in the Highlands. The lodge was once owned by Bond creator Ian Fleming's family and is thought to feature in the film as a 'safe house'.

As the crew set up in the early hours of the morning, armed with a long table of food and hot drinks, residents from the near community waited patiently at the end of the set waiting for news of when they would be let through the single track road. Luckily for the crew, the notorious Scottish weather held off and filming was able to take place as scheduled and there was even time for a very British tea break. The crew closed off a track an hour's walk from the A82 all day for filming. During scenes shot at the location on Wednesday, two of Bond's signature Aston Martin sports cars were seen parked on set.

The identical cars were parked along the main road from their base at nearby Glencoe ski centre car park. But the cars were nowhere in sight yesterday. The film is being directed by Academy Award-winner Sam Mendes, and sees Craig in his third appearance as Bond, after first appearing in Casino Royale in 2006 and Quantum Of Solace in 2008. The movie was last week shot on location in London and will also feature scenes shot in Turkey and China. Scotland has only been used twice before for Bond films 'The Spy who Loved Me', starring Roger Moore and 'The World is Not Enough', starring Pierce Brosnan.

There have been a fair few changes to the traditional 007 formula since Daniel Craig took on the iconic role in 2006's Casino Royale. But some old favourites return time and time again. Bond's classic Aston Martin DB5, similar to the one seen in Goldfinger, was being filmed in scenes for the upcoming installment, Skyfall, in Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands today.

The vintage car sped across the countryside towards a grand old house. And it looks as though Daniel might be getting a few tips on how to handle his wheels. Racing car driver Ben Collins - who is best known as being the former Stig on Top Gear - was seen on the set of the film taking on the role of Craig's stunt driver in London today.

Behind the wheel of a black Jaguar XF, the 36-year-old was wearing the exact same suit and tie as the one Craig was getting dusty in. However, this isn't the first time that Collins has had the chance to call himself 007. The father-of-three has been in Craig's shoes twice before, being the stunt driver during the filming of Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace.

In between his dangerous driving, Collins was spotted keeping warm on set in a black coat and was clutching a radio. The scene was surrounded by several police vehicles - who were no doubt trying to keep the public at bay, as the crew attempted to film a possible car chase perfectly.

The scenes were snapped just a couple of days after fans were treated to their first official image of Craig as 007 from Skyfall. The film is being directed by Academy Award-winner Sam Mendes, and also stars Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes.

Not much has been revealed about the plot, but what fans and film goers do know is that Bond's loyalty to M, played by Dame Judi Dench, is threatened by secrets from her past. And when MI6 is attacked, he must track down and destroy the threat no matter what the cost to himself.
The film is due for release in October this year.

Women officially want to lick the rippling abs of Bond star Daniel Craig - so smart marketing people have released an iceblock in his likeness! Dream makers Ice-cream makers Del Monte conducted a survey of British women to find out what bloke they'd most like to uh, wrap their laughing gear around, so to speak.

Dan the man topped the (icy) poll, and now his frosty likeness is on sale over there will June 7. We've got to admit this rules - and that the fruity treat looks so much like Daniel we'd be a little freaked out to eat it. Or would we...

Earlier last week, while shooting for the the latest 007 James Bond movie Skyfall, Daniel Craig is seen in a Range Rover SUV. This is rather surprising because usually Bond is usually seen traveling in an Aston Martin sportscar. Aston Martin has associated itself with the Bond movies over the years, so when Daniel was seen in a Range Rover, Bond fans around the globe were surprised.

Photos taken at the filming of Skyfall show a rather serous looking Craig being chauffeured in a sleek black Range Rover with a stuntman balancing on the hood, obviously in some sort of getaway bid. The Bond film was expected to be shot on location in China and Bali but rumor has it that the film producers
had to curtain the budget which meant that locations have been restricted. Now the upcoming 007 movie will be shot in London and Turkey.

23rd Bond movie - Skyfall is expected to be released only in November this year, until which time movie and James Bond enthusiasts will have to wait to find out the reason why Daniel Craig is being chauffeured in a Range Rover rather than the celebrated Aston Martin.

In the image, Daniel Craig is seen in stubble and holding a gun in his hands. Looking at his serious face, we assume his enemies are in for a bad time. Anyhow, speaking about the cast, apart from Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Albert Finney and Judi Dench, you’ll see Javier Bardem as the film’s villain.

Sure you are scrolling down to know the names of the Bond girls; well, they are: Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe. Meanwhile, let us give you some info about the plot of the film. The film’s brief synopsis reads: “Bond's loyalty to M (Judy Dench) is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.”Skyfall is the 23rd Bond film, and ,needless to say, it is the longest-running franchise ever! The movie will release in India on November 2nd this year.
