I’m really interested in what people will think of this one. I’ve always had mixed feelings about vocals in EDM but honestly the Australian twins of NERVO are so beautiful that I think I can let this one slide. I’m sure an instrumental of this will be released in the near future (we can hope, anyway). I think I’d definitely enjoy this track a lot more if the vocal samples were used more sparingly.

Facebook has launched Listen With Friends, a next step into incorporating music into their social media network experience. The service will allow users to listen to music at the same time as their friends and discuss the tunes using Facebook Chat. According to reports, up to 50 people will be able to listen to a song at the same time and discuss it. When a Facebook user is listening to a song, a music note will appear next to their name in the chat sidebar and the real-time news ticker. In order to listen in, users can simply hover over that friend’s name, then click the “Listen With” button (see image below). At the moment, the service will only work if both parties have access to the same online music programmes, which is currently Spotify and Rdio. However, ZDNet claims that more services are set to be announced in the future. Facebook product designer Alexandre Roche said of the social network latest feature:

“You can listen to the same song, at the exact same time—so when your favorite vocal part comes in you can experience it together, just like when you’re jamming out at a performance or dance club.”

I know we missed POP last year. With all the drama from the Electronic Music scene over the last few years, we are as happy as anyone to say POP IS COMING BACK! Moving a new venue, the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA promises to bring tens of thousands of people to one, massive area to witness the spectacle that is POP.

Big Gigantic – Nocturnal (Full Album Official Release) : Must Hear Full Electronic Album

Today I’ve got an extra special release, Nocturnal, the latest full album from Big Gigantic. This is following up their A Place Behind The Moon album, and a variety of remixes throughout the past year. I’ve been waiting on Nocturnal for months ever since I heard the first glimpse of it with Rise and Shine used on their Red Rocks video. Then I heard the second single Nocturnal, which got me even more excited for the album of the same name. Now after listening to Nocturnal a few times all the way through, I can defintely say it’s in a league of it’s own. It combines the soulful funk elements of live jazz with the crushing edgy bass filled electronic sounds which has hints of dubstep, yet is really it’s own genre in itself. The unique and extremely fresh hybrid sound powered by the live energy of Dominic Lalli playing the Sax and Jeremy Salken on Drums really creates something that is here to stay. I’ve included a few of my favorites, but I can’t stress how great this album is all the way through. Enjoy!

(Light Year & The Finger Prince Remix)

Erol Alkan‘s label Phantasy is set to continue re-releases of previous hit tracks with a Lemonade EP featuring remixes from Justin Robertson and Gesaffestein at some point (the originally rumored release date was back in September), but this Light Year & The Finger Prince remix might be included on it as well. Not entirely sure as of yet as information on Phantasy releases is usually limited and very restricted, but whether or not it appears on the official release, it’s an excellent revival of one of the top tracks of the last 3 years. After hearing it first exclusively in Mumbai Science‘s Unified Theory promo mix, Light Year has finally uploaded it onto his soundcloud. Take a listen.

Twitter to Host Its First Live Streaming Concert, Starring Tiësto

HP and Intel will be hosting the first-ever live stream of a concert on Twitter next week at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show. The headliner: electronic music master Tiësto.

The concert will kick off the launch of a new 10-episode series on YouTube called “In the Booth” — a behind-the-scenes look at Tiësto’s life and his impact on the electronic dance movement. The private event at the nightclub XS at Encore in Las Vegas will stream live from HP and Intel’s newly enhanced Twitter brand pages.

Tiësto will play a 90-minute set on Wednesday, January 11 starting at 10:00 p.m. PT. It will then play on a loop on HP and Intel’s Twitter page for the following 48 hours.

“We have offered streaming on the site before, but this is the first-time ever that the site will feature a live concert,” Rob Pietsch, Twitter’s director of West Coast sales, told Mashable. “HP came to us with the idea and we couldn’t be more excited to hear how the company and Intel will be using their Twitter brand pages to reach out to the public and become destination sites.

“It’s a first for us, and we expect in the future that more companies will integrate streaming video into their pages.”

In December, Twitter announced that it would be introducing Facebook-style brand pages for companies to customize and highlight content. HP and Intel are among the first 21 brands invited to test out the new platform – other companies include Dell, Disney, JetBlue, Nike and Paramount Pictures.

The company said it expects to make the new brand pages for companies more widely available by the end of the first quarter of 2012.

The official lineup for Coachella 2012 has been released, and I’m actually very surprised with what I’m seeing right now. Wait, why am I surprised? We all know actually performing with real instruments is so overrated. I mean, who wants to hear real instruments with vocals? BLEGH!

Please excuse my sardonic attitude. I just find it extremely bizarre that a festival would go from such legendary acts such as Rage Against The Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Daft Punk, Red Hot Chili Peppers, to a lineup consisting of 90% DJs and electronic producers. I guess it’s just indicative of the music scene today. Anyway, enough of my bitching. Here’s the lineup:

This has got to be one of the edgiest tracks I’ve ever heard from young producer Zedd, which suits Skrillex’s label. This track is just so filthy, and the voice samples and calmer buildups really add to the contrast of the drops. Turn up the bass, get ready for the new phase of Zedd, enjoy!

Really excited for this track, it uses the very popular Benny Benassi – ‘Satisfaction’ sample, but in one of the best ways I’ve ever heard. Rokcity took the notable vocals and put them over the hard hitting electro track from DallasK ‘Front Back’. The outcome is the perfect track to set off clubs, parties, cars, and bedrooms across the world. New Years… The one night where it is (almost) totally legal to get f**ked up. From the West to East coast (Diddy, Suge Knight, Notorious BIG, Tupac notwithstanding) everyone is partying in unison in anticipation of the new year.

While we were doing it big at Insomniac’s White Wonderland, our partyng counterparts on the East Coast (New York, to be more precise) brought in the New Years at PIER 94 featuring a 3-hour set by AVICII. This video is the countdown with Avicii and many, many party people bringing in the new year.

The VIP of Knife Party’s remix of Crush On You by Nero takes the adrenaline to such a mental level like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. Only thing I can compare it to is snorting a 10″ line of coke then downing a case of Red Bull. I honestly would feel compelled to play a disclaimer before dropping this live at a festival. Something like “May I have your attention, please. If you are on any of the following substances, please exit the vicinities immediately: MDMA, LSD, Ketamine, DMT, Mushrooms, and/or any various uppers.”

I have a serious love for hard hitting filthy dubstep that has a theme of intergalactic space funk, and for some reason not too many artists do that sound. Someone who does, however, is MVM.
