On last night's Late Night Questlove Remixed the Clips, by taking a few of Jimmy's favorite recent viral videos and remixed them live on stage.You don't have to watch the whole video and can fast forward to the 1:00 minute mark on the video. Thought it was a neat clip, but wish it could have been longer with some better viral videos.

Wax is a genius and he's always up to something unique around the hip hop game! I've been watching him for about a year and a half now and he just keeps growing, with no surprise. Check out his new contest with the video above and some details about the contest below.

Anybody can participate in this cypher as many times as they want. Just make your own video that continues the story. Upload the video and post it as a video response to this video. Next Wednesday we will choose which video will be the "winner" and it will be posted on the Wax and Herbal T channel ( http://www.youtube.com/waxandherbalt ). That video will then become part of the official story and the cypher will continue from there. We will do this for 8 weeks and end up with a ten episode long story.

Just 10 days after the US celebrated its birthday, there was another testament to the power of independence as Duck Down presented its 15th Anniversary Concert at BB King Blues Club in NYC Times Square on July 13th. Duck Down artists Team Facelift, Ruste Juxx, Marco Polo, Torae, Skyzoo, Kidz In the Hall, Pharoahe Monch, and the mighty Boot Camp Clik featuring Buckshot, Sean Price, Smif N Wessun, Heltah Skeltah, Black Moon) graced the stage performing their classic hits. The first 50 fans to enter the concert received a free limited edition Duck Down x Rocksmith Tokyo "Duck Hunt Inspired" T-shirt with our Duck Down mascot in pixalated form, in which many fans immediately put on during the show. Hosts Angela Yee and Amanda Diva kept the show moving smoothly, while DJ Evil Dee provided music throughout the evening.

Special guest performers during the evening included Large Professor, !llmind, Stalley, Donnis, Daru, Jean Grae, Styles P, DJ Boogie Blind, Mela Machinko, Pete Rock, Tony Touch, Immortal Technique, Masta Ace, and Talib Kweli.

Mayer Hawthorne explains the story behind this record:

“I met Nottz at Nightlife's Dilla Tribute in L.A. and we just kept in contact. I had always been a fan of Nottz since the 90s. He sent me a bunch of beats and at first I had no idea what to do with any of them, but eventually it hit me. I sang a hook for him on his album as well.

The song is a cover of a cat named Otis Leville which is one of my all time fav soul sides, but relatively unknown 45. I don't think Nottz even knew it. I actually even made up some of the words because no one could make out what he said in the original. ha!

When Nottz sent me that batch - that particular beat stood out. It had the same chord progression as the Otis Leville, so I just went with it.”

Death Is Silent, the solo debut from CunninLynguists‘ producer and emcee Kno, is set to be released on October 12th 2010. Below is an article that I pulled from QN5 Music , but talk about a busy man with all his future production projects.

While handling nearly all of CL’s production since the group’s inception in 2001, his emceeing has more recently taken a backseat to his beats — and it has shown. Fueled by Kno’s lush production techniques, A Piece of Strange currently ranks as the #8 release of 2005 (and the only hip-hop release in the Top 30) at high traffic web community RateYourMusic.com, Dirty Acres was awarded “Album Of The Year” honors by UndergroundHipHop.com for 2007 and both of 2009’s compilation releases, Strange Journey Volume One and Two, were given “Top Ten Albums” honors at 2DopeBoyz.com.

After amassing only 4 verses over the CunninLynguists’ last four releases, the Atlanta-based artist is set to step out from behind the boards on Death Is Silent, both producing the entirety of the record and handling the majority of the vocals. The record’s concept involves the inevitability of death and its impact on love, life, family and friends. The artwork was realized by Argentinian visual artist Diego Fernandez.

Kno will still see plenty of activity on the production side of things, as the next 6 months will see the release of Oneirology, CunninLynguists’ newest studio album in 3 years, Chico and The Man, the long-awaited concept album with fellow QN5 Music artist and longtime friend Tonedeff as well as MacheteVision, a joint project with emcee Marq Spekt.

While all of these releases will be produced entirely by Kno, his production will also be featured on upcoming projects by Freddie Gibbs, 9th Wonder signee Tom Hardy as well as the album Niggaz With Latitude, a group project from CL’s own Deacon The Villain and Sheisty Khrist.

Death Is Silent will be released on CunninLynguists’ own imprint APOS Music and will be distributed by Traffic Entertainment Group.
