Today it has evolved into a robust entity that is identified with elegance, efficiency and reliability. The essence of our brand is carried in our logo.

OUR OLD LOGO (THE CAMEL (TRANSPORTING NIGERIA) LOGO)
OUR NEW LOGO (THE NEW CAMEL LOGO)

THE CAMEL (TRANSPORTING NIGERIA) LOGO

The CAMEL© logo symbolizes the vision of the founders of the Company at time of incorporation in 1970. The vision had as its basis the conceptual note of insurance as a risk transfer mechanism, enabling insurers to carry all types of financial burden. As a BURDEN CARRIER, insurers are expected to have the required strength and tenacity to survive, even during difficult times, if indeed they are to protect the interests that have been transferred to them. In espousing this primary concept, the founders envisioned that, come what may – rain or shine, dull or bright – the Company must always meet its financial obligation to all its customers by ensuring that claims are paid when due, without any delay by reason of insufficient funds. This mission to be always EFFICIENT in meeting financial obligations of customers is expected to engender a bond with each individual customer such that the Company is, indeed, seen as a RELIABLE insurer. The conceptual basis of the Camel was therefore rested on the slogan of the Company being an EFFICIENT AND RELIABLE Carrier of financial burdens/obligation.
So what makes The CAMEL©, a powerful logo?
A Camel has stores of Flesh and Fat than can be easily absorbed when food is scarce.
A Camel can subsist without water for several days.
A Camel, by its structural qualities, can survive in the most arid (dromedary camel) or cold (bactrian camel) terrain. Its nostrils may be closed during sand storms or blizzards and its eyes are shielded by very long eyelashes.
Its endurance is remarkable under different circumstances, that some are given to calling the camel “THE GIFT OF GOD”. The endurance and strength of the Camel have made it a valuable beast of burden.
Camels can be organized for mutual help and protection against the hazards of travel as a caravan
The CAMEL© as a LOGO is interesting for all its correlation to insurance as follows:
CAPACITY: Insurers are expected to have the financial strength to contain the risk of losses that they have agreed to bear.
SOLVENCY: Insurers are expected to keep RESERVES, including mathematical reserves, against future claims.
SECURITY: Insurers are expected to have the backup necessary to ensure that even claims of very high magnitude are settled by spreading the assumed financial burdens in an organized market for help and protection against catastrophes.
The Camel© Nigeria Logo was registered as a trademark of Leadway Assurance Company Limited in 1971.

THE NEW CAMEL LOGO
Its most significant feature is that "we do not sell once and for all". This image, also known as "reputation", is formed on the grounds of a corporate identity.

Starting with January 2003, Banca Transilvania has a new corporate identity, its brand becoming stronger. Banca Transilvania's brand resulting from the interaction with its customers, an outstanding business relation leading to an enhanced brand

The name of the bank

The resonant name TRANSILVANIA was chosen, not only for the historical facts, but for its defining elements like: reliability, stability and values' preservation, all these features being rooted in the relationship the bank has with its clients. Moreover, Banca Transilvania's headquarter is located in Cluj, the hearth of Transylvania .

Bank's trade mark
The bank's logo symbolising a shield, has as a metaphorical meaning the preservation of customers' money and interests. Besides the logo, on the bank's trade mark we have two lines, in the bank's colours, black and yellow, suggesting all the elements of the corporate identity and expressing continuity, stability and ambition.

The elements of the trade mark are:
- bank's name
- logo (shield)

- acronyms (BT)
- the two lines at the bottom of the shield- a recurrent element of Banca Transilvania's corporate identity
- bank colors: yellow and black

Bank colors
Banca Transilvania's colors are yellow and black, a powerful contrasts combination.
The psychological message of the colors is:
- yellow: distinction, trust, warmth
- black: credibility, loyalty, authority

Reference:http://www.bancatransilvania.ro/index/226.html
More Logos

Alliance Boots Logo

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SNhcWSoCG5I/AAAAAAAACNw/TZWUmD1QPR0/s320/AllianceBootsLogo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5249046903726939026" />
The Alliance Boots logo draws on the visual identities of the former Alliance UniChem and Boots Group to create a distinctive and dynamic brand marque for the company.

Brand marque
The brand marque presents a strong, confident look for Europe's leading pharmacy-led health and beauty group. The suggestion of movement created through shape and colour reflects the forward-looking and dynamic nature of the organisation and the oval, implying the globe, is suggestive of the increasingly international nature of the Group's business.

Word mark
The open oval holds the Alliance Boots word mark, a bespoke typographical rendering that references both the 'Alliance UniChem AU rounded' and 'Boots AG Book rounded' fonts. It is an indispensable element of today's business world. Daifuku contributes to the development of the material handling industry by offering innovative products that satisfy the requirements of the Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Ecology awareness (S.Q.C.D.E.) concept and by relying on the experience and expertise we have accumulated in over 70 years of operation.

To commemorate our accomplishments and to provide inspiration to continue the pursuit of excellence, we created new logo.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SMCGK6oVYzI/AAAAAAAACNc/mQYz62sJFqo/s320/Daifuku+Logo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242337488354501426" />

In honor of our 70th anniversary, we also developed a new corporate slogan.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SMCGXjn45jI/AAAAAAAACNk/7V8BUZPJN5A/s320/Daifuku.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242337705516918322" />

"Material Handling and Beyond" is the corporate slogan developed as part of Daifuku's 70th-anniversary celebration. Looking back over our 70 years of history, we have chosen these words to express Daifuku's position within the material handling industry. "Beyond" communicates the unlimited possibilities for Daifuku as we continue to innovate and our desire to be an inspiration for others.

The History of Daifuku's Logo and Corporate Slogan
In 1969, the company created a corporate logo to signify the essence of the company. This was a novel approach at the time since company logos were used only to differentiate companies from each other.

Managers solicited advice from renowned art directors and selected one mark from 18 designs.

In 1984, the company name was changed from Daifuku Machinery Works to Daifuku (in katakana characters). 'Machine Works' gave the misleading impression that the company was a hardware manufacture and did not represent the company's new focus on software and system development. Minor changes were made to the company logo.

In 1998, the company changed its name again from Daifuku in katakana characters to DAIFUKU, written using the Roman alphabet. The change reflected the important role Daifuku was playing globally.

Historically, the company developed corporate slogans to reflect the times: "Daifuku for Material Handling" (1960s and 1970s), "Challenging Automatic Guided Operation" (1968-1982) and "Daifuku for Factory Automation" (1982-1987). The establishment of a new corporate slogan to commemorate Daifuku's 70th anniversary seemed appropriate in 2007: "Material Handling and Beyond"

Reference:http://www.daifuku.com/company/profile/brand.html
More Logos

EMOBILE Logo

EMOBILE Ltd.(Headquarters:Minato-ku, Tokyo;Representative Director, Chairman & CEO Sachio Semmoto;hereinafter "EMOBILE")introduced the new brand logo for its mobile service starting in March 2007.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SMCDTsPXK0I/AAAAAAAACNU/CjVSdQJQl30/s320/EMOBILE+Logo.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242334340575603522" />
Brand Color
The new brand logo adopts “red” as EMOBILE's corporate color, expressing “infinite possibility of the mobile market”, “strong will of EMOBILE's challenge” and “EMOBILE's passion and energy”.

Design
The logo also adopts a design which both letters can be viewed as either E or M from different viewpoints. The logo was based on a wheel with lime leaves, which were to symbolise the Slav nations. The names of the company’s founders (Laurin & Klement) were added and later became the main motif for the new logo.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SKorrZ0V4dI/AAAAAAAACMc/y_On5-cj8E0/s320/Skoda_Logo.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5236045541436416466" />L&K Logo (1905-1925
The design of the L&K logo was influenced by Art Nouveau, an artistic style at the beginning of the 20th century. The initials of the company’s two founders are (probably in connection with the name Václav Laurin or laurel, lat. laurus nobilis) surrounded by laurels in the shape of a wreath, which has been associated with victors and the famous since antiquity. The laurels possibly foretold the success of L&K.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SKosI9yLibI/AAAAAAAACMo/ZvOOlErKiP0/s320/Skoda.Logo.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5236046049307232690" />Škoda Logo (1926-1933)Cars were produced in Mladá Boleslav under the Škoda brand from 1926. Although the brand’s name changed completely, the form of the new product logo shows continuity with the previous stage. The Škoda logo has a new, oval shape, but the brand name is still the dominant element in the centre and is surrounded by laurels.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SKoseEP2N3I/AAAAAAAACMw/GtrmMnHqgeY/s320/SkodaLogo.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5236046411819530098" />Škoda Logo (1926-1990)
The logo with the famous “winged arrow” was first used in 1926. Its origin is shrouded in mystery, sometimes the author of the idea (the stylised head of an Indian wearing a headdress with five feathers) is said to be the commercial director of Škoda Plzeň, T. Maglič. The blue and white circular logo, which is completed by a right-moving winged arrow with a stylised pinion, is currently used on some original Škoda parts (e.g. on window glass and engine blocks).

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SKosvBJcaYI/AAAAAAAACM4/OQGp16HkjAs/s320/Skoda+Logo.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5236046703045142914" />Škoda Logo (since 1999)
Although the Škoda logo is viewed as one of the most original and stylistically clean manufacturing company trademarks in the world, the author is not yet known. The black and green logo, which has been used since 1994, gives the Škoda brand a greater degree of originality – black symbolises the hundred-year tradition, green signalises environmental production.

Reference:http://new.skoda-auto.com/COM/about/tradition/logo/Pages/Logo.aspx
More Logos

Hitachi Chemical Logo

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SKTnZIcWu2I/AAAAAAAACMM/DRGptKNENa4/s320/Hitachi+Chemical+Logo.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234563085860518754" />
The Hitachi Chemical logo gives shape to the strength of our company's ideas and our creative ability. Spreadshirt is the answer to this growing need for "personal branding".

Spreadshirt is "Your Own Label" because we see it as our mission to help you set up your own clothing label and to develop and promote your creativity. Your designs, printed onto over 80 items of clothing ranging from hooded sweaters to boxer shorts. Using high-end print techniques. No minimum order, no hassle.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SIgDb7SNYiI/AAAAAAAACKM/K8agtaNloe8/s320/Spreadshirt+Logo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226431145868878370" />First logo: "Spreadlady"

Spreadshirt thrives and survives due to the creativity of its customers – it is therefore only logical that the new Spreadshirt logo would come directly from its own community! This brainwave led to the first "Open Logo Project" in 2005. We set up a competition to find a new logo, and asked all interested parties to put forth their proposals. The entries were presented within the competition's blog where the ideas were shown, discussed and commented on. 1100 people came along to give their opinion. Maxime Colin's "fingerprint" eventually carried the day.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SIgEEyHIsaI/AAAAAAAACKc/8AzkDpWRJVM/s320/Spreadshirt_Logo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226431847781151138" />Maxime Colin, "Fingerprint"

This could have been where the story ended... but no! We here at Spreadshirt are never willing to let a good idea go to waste. As Spreadshirt matured and developed, more and more people got interested in our service, and more and more we found that we could communicate what Spreadshirt stands for in simpler terms. Our old slogan "Your think it. We print it" (which made most people think more of the time-honored copyshop ) got a little out of date. So we decided to search for a new one that described who we are and what we do a little more appropriately... "Your own label" – the designer brand you make yourself.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SIgEVAnx1WI/AAAAAAAACKk/UXhRCHdyzW8/s320/SpreadshirtLogo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226432126554068322" /> Nikolas Bulard,
"Play with Forms"

We decided that every mother-and-her-son would understand this sentence, and that to make our point we would need to change our logo to go with our new tag-line. The decision to create a new logo fell quite unspectacularly on a Tuesday morning, just about 1.6 years after the first logo competition. That is why we called it the Open Logo Project 1.6.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SIgEhJUP7cI/AAAAAAAACKs/-STJ-e2BpSg/s320/Spreadshirt.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226432335046503874" />Kim Larsen, "Lovetab"

This time more than 2,000 designers from 45 countries participated, giving us nearly 3,000 proposals, many of them absolutely inspiring. Week after week, day after day, we only saw logos. Eventually the decision was made. Kim Larsen’s "Lovetab" (a heart in a t-shirt shape set out like the label showing off a brand name) was chosen as the most appropriate of ways to show what we do. It was a really hard choice, and since we also especially loved Nikolas Bulard’s "Play with Forms" design you may well see elements of his idea appear within the Spreadshirt brand one day…

New Spreadshirt Logo
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SIgG1oy42SI/AAAAAAAACK8/66yY6_1JXUQ/s320/Spreadshirt.Logo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226434886117153058" />Spreadshirt has launched its new logo, the result of a global crowdsourcing contest, the Open Logo Project 1.6 (OLP).

Kim Larsen’s ‘Love Tab’ was the winning design, chosen from 2,800 submissions (from 45 countries). Kim is a 23 year old graphic and interactive media designer from Sweden.

We wanted to take this to the community who use, create and live our product, rather than to an agency’, says Jana Eggers, Spreadshirt CEO.

Each entry received comment and evaluation by an expert panel, the other designers, the Spreadshirt community and employees. The judging panel included web 2.0 guru Dr Frank Piller, renowned San Francisco graphic designer Scott Hansen, Computerlove, Branded and laFraise.

Kim Larsen says: ‘I wanted to make personal branding visually simple and to embed a symbol everyone can relate to. The heart resonates with the feeling of love you have for something you’ve created and the stitching with the hand-crafted nature of the product.’

References:http://www.spreadshirt.com/us/US/About-us/Logo-and-Slogan-3277
http://www.spreadshirt.net/en/GB/About-us/Spreadshirt-News-2524/newsId/480
More Logos

Singapore Management University Logo

SMU Logo
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SH1_CZbKdgI/AAAAAAAACKE/eH19lxofTTI/s320/Singapore+Management+University+Logo.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5223470821980927490" />
The SMU Tangram Lion

SMU's lion represents the qualities of Leadership, Strength, Dignity, Wisdom and Loyalty. The face is depicted by means of a stylized tangram.

Traditionally, a tangram is a collection of seven geometric pieces set in a square. These pieces are moved to create a myriad of spatial possibilities, limited only by the scope of human ingenuity.

The symbol has been created to convey the University's position at the forefront of tertiary education in business management and in strategic partnership with leading universities overseas.

The deep blue colour is strong and classic. The combination of colours also reflects the history of Singapore as mercantile trading seaport - Gold for wealth and Blue for the sea that made it possible.

Reference:http://www.smu.edu.sg/about_smu/smulogo.asp
More Logos

UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009 Logo

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SHq7FYWRcXI/AAAAAAAACJ8/YhN2QNtwNEU/s320/UEFA+WOMEN%27S+EURO+2009+Logo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5222692418999120242" />UEFA has unveiled the logo and the visual identity for the UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ tournament in Finland as well as confirming dates and host cities for the event between 23 August and 10 September next year.

Dynamic, stylish and energetic
"A creation of The Works, the United Kingdom-based design and branding agency, the new logo picks up on the form and structure of the UEFA European Women's Championship trophy to create a dynamic, stylish and energetic logo," said UEFA on Tuesday.

Passion, pride and new dawn
The colour palette usage, from light yellow to dark orange, encompasses passion, pride and a sense of a new dawn within the competition. At the same time, the heritage and prestigious past of this tournament is maintained via the use of the distinctive UEFA arch. Beneath the main graphic element and the tournament wording, the host country staging the finals is also referenced, in this case "FINLAND 2009".

Strong growth
"The new UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ logo captures perfectly the dynamic growth of women's football," said tournament director, Outi Saarinen. "After Finland reached the semi-finals of UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2005™ in England, women's football here has been growing strongly. I am sure this new visual identity will help to promote the final tournament throughout our country long before the tournament actually kicks off in August 2009."

Brand design
UEFA said: "Future UEFA European Women's Championship final rounds will utilise the same logo, although each time with a personalised brand design highlighting the features of the hosts." The finals field has been increased from eight to 12 teams, reflecting the importance bestowed on European women's football by UEFA, which recently moved the women's game into its professional football sphere of activities.

Host cities and dates
As far as venues and dates are concerned, the 7th UEFA European Women's Championship will be played in four cities; the capital Helsinki, Tampere, Turku and Lahti. The settings for the matches will be the Olympic Stadium and Töölö Stadium in Helsinki, Kupittaa Stadium in Turku, Tampere's Ratina Stadium and Lahti Sport Centre. The exact match schedule will be announced in due course, once the qualifying games have finished in October 2008.

Reference:http://www.uefa.com/competitions/woco/news/kind=1/newsid=653696.html
More Logos

Bank of New Zealand Logo

Our Logo

Why the chevron, stars and gold are used to represent the Bank

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SHa1rneidDI/AAAAAAAACJs/fXgzxkPQH5Q/s320/Bank+of+New+Zealand+Logo.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221560578918741042" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SHa2Zznv_YI/AAAAAAAACJ0/8vDZb08AsJE/s320/Bank+of+New+Zealand.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221561372452584834" />

•The square is an adaptation of a shield, used as a logo by the Bank during the 1950s and 1960s

•Up until the 1960s, a Kiwi used to perch above the shield on a tuft of grass

•The silver stars represent the Southern Cross on the New Zealand flag, although they do not have the touches of red that appear on the flag

•The five yellow discs are called bezants - gold coins used by the Byzantine in 9th century Europe. The original document, complete with three enormous red seals and gold paint, describes the coat of arms as "azure within two chevronels or five Bezants in chief three Mullets chevronwise and one in base Argent. And for the Crest on a Wreath of the Colours Standing on a Mount of Earth with Ferns property growing thereon a Kiwi "

•According to heraldic lore, a person or corporation cannot display arms without having such a grant. The mountains’ stunning backdrop are central to the host nations, Austria and Switzerland.

• Typography
The word EURO is rendered in shades of red and symbolises the unification of both Austria and Switzerland in staging this great event. The host country names are set in a confident and contemporary type face, with a rounded friendly feel.

• Ball
Inspired by the pure and rugged surroundings. The football is sculpted from stone and features the green forests and valleys of both countries. The pattern is based on contour maps of the Alps.

• UEFA arch
The mark of top European football.

• Colours
Red and white are the national flag colours of both host countries. The main graphic elements - above, a bowl with harvested potatoes and below, in the earth, a golden tuber - symbolize the intimate link between humanity and agriculture. The slogan, "Hidden treasure", highlights the often overlooked importance of the potato for rural people, the economy and global food security. The IYP logo is available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.

Use of the IYP logo
Individuals and organizations wishing to reproduce the IYP logo - in printed form or on websites - must first obtain permission from the IYP Secretariat at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. More than 70 percent of uses were non-commercial, and more than half of all requests came from Europe (see graph at right). Among those using the logo are the World Potato Congress, the European Confederation of Soil Science Societies, major potato processing companies in Europe, Canada and the USA, Botswana's Ministry of Agriculture, farmer organizations in Latin America - and a group of neighbours in Ottawa, Canada, who needed it for their annual St Patrick's Day celebration. Leading the list of countries requesting the logo were Canada (54 applications), France (47) and the UK (36).

Reference:http://www.potato2008.org/en/aboutiyp/logo.html
More Logos

Go On Girl Book Club Logo

Logo Creator Earl Nathaniel Garrett, Jr. -- The Man Behind the Face
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SFnPACRp5gI/AAAAAAAACI4/FOyW5vFJ9HI/s320/Go+On+Girl!+Book+Club.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5213425643175929346" />

Those eyes, those lips, that hair! He created our girl, and now she is a club icon.

Earl Nathaniel Garrett, Jr. was educated in the New York City public school system and graduated from the High School of Art & Design. It was here he honed his natural artistic talent, which is evidenced in his many paintings, photography and lifestyle comic strips. He continued his craft as an adult at several New York art colleges, and his artwork holds pride of place in some of the most well respected art collections in the country.

When Earl wasn't creating art, he was a voracious reader, perusing everything from the daily newspapers and comic books to political analysis and spiritual prose. Also fond of old movies especially science fiction and action films, he was always prepared for a rousing debate on most any topic. Earl is remembered by all who knew him as the man with a huge smile, great wit and an infectious sense of humor. His wonderful inner spirit, love of life and tender love for his wife can be seen in our beautiful logo, a dynamic visual that never fails to capture attention.

Reference:http://www.goongirl.org/About/logo_history.asp
More Logos

ENI Trademark

History of the Trademark
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SE89XW3YKgI/AAAAAAAACIg/mH_lTMbxZko/s320/ENI.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210450765375089154" />Who designed the six-legged dog, which means energy in Italy and in the world? The truth as to who invented it was not known officially until thirty years later. Luigi Broggini, in fact, never admitted authorship, and certainty about his being the father of the symbol only came after his death (1983), through the testimony of his son as reported by the journalist Dante Ferrari. Luigi Broggini’s wish that his name should not be coupled with the winning drawing does not enable us to have an official definition of the real meaning of his “six-legged dog”. After the work had been attributed to the artist, there was talk about his having been influenced by the legends of the Niebelungen, by analogy with the themes of his formal research. The official interpretation, given by Eni’s press office in the 1950’s, explains the six legs of the imaginary animal as the sum of an automobile’s four wheels and the driver’s two legs. A sort of modern centaur, and also almost an assurance that this means of locomotion becomes the fastest possible through the symbiosis between automobile and driver.

An interesting parallel can be made out also in African mythology, in which animals with more than the normal number of legs appear precisely to signify uncommon strength. In Tanzania and Kenya you can sometimes see lions and leopards with six legs among the carved wooden statuettes of Makonde art.

In Nigeria , too, in the Benin bronzes, there are examples of animals represented with more than the ordinary number of legs, giving the idea of supernatural power.

The need for a new symbol able to make the Italian energy company easily and immediately recognized in every part of the world was the reason for the competition of 1952.

The Competition
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SE9G8RawlmI/AAAAAAAACIo/qVB9mPtVExQ/s320/ENI_Logo.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210461295172687458" />The competition, advertised for two road placards intended for Supercortemaggiore and Agipgas products, for two trademarks and for the colouring of a gasoline pump, was open to all Italians and offered total prizes of 10 million lire (equal to 5164.57 euro). The members of the Jury were foremost personages in the world of art and communication, and this emphasizes the importance attached by Eni to the competition. The competition was a resounding success.

Suffice it to think that more than 4,000 sketches were submitted and that it took 14 meetings of the jury to choose the winner. Then at the conclusive session in September 1952, at Merano, the “Six-Legged Dog” was unanimously designated, but an extremely long, almost legendary attribution began as to its author.

The sketch that won the competition had been submitted by Giuseppe Guzzi, who in reality was not the author of it, but its “finisher”.

And this fact, by no means a secondary one, was at once made known. Various legends started up. It was rumoured that it was by a well-known artist who however did not wish his name to appear. Many names were mentioned, among them that of the famous Leo Longanesi, a leading promoter of artistic and cultural life in those years. Only after many years, and after his death, did it become known with certainty that the author of the winning sketch was the sculptor Luigi Broggini, one of the main figures on the scene of Italian figurative arts in the decades straddling the second world war.

The Trademark in 1998
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SE9Idz-oEBI/AAAAAAAACIw/PuW0cJYL-jA/s320/ENI+Logo.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210462970897240082" />Eni’s transformation, at the beginning of the 90’s, from being the National Hydrocarbons Agency into a joint-stock company made a fresh restyling necessary, to renew the image of the company’s trademark, since entering the stock exchange it had to express a profoundly changed corporate organization.

Bob Noorda, the famous dutch designer, was called in 1972 to create a trademark properly so termed and to develop a coordinated Group image. He was called in again so as to rethink once more the modern Eni Group’s corporate image. The solution presented was a new graphic project based on simple essential elements, but of considerable impact and appeal, able to bring together the various sectors of the image and to confirm the value of the Group being a single united one.

The dog “emerges” from the “palina” (an element with rounded corners, yellow with a black border, connected too closely with the gas stations) and “enters” a yellow square-shaped area together with the Eni logo.

The yellow square is divided into two parts by a thin horizontal red line that separates the two elements.

The new economy of space imposed a further aesthetic measure on the dog which was imperceptibly “shortened” to become equal in length to the Eni logo consisting of edged institutional characters. “

This time things went differently: - Noorda says - it was really much simpler to shorten the dog with the computer instead of using scissors like all those years ago!”.

This sign will be Eni’s new trademark and, with the addition of the word “Group”, will become the prefix of the logo of all the Group companies, graphically confirming the new corporate pattern.

The publicity image is often very short-lived: nothing ages faster than the image, worn out by all the looks it has to attract. It is particularly difficult to invent images that manage to outlive the promotional campaign which they illustrate. “When I design a trademark – he explains - I do so bearing in mind the cultural aspect, not just the commercial one, of a company. And I try to think of an image that can last, without appearing at once outdated and old”.

Bob Noorda has created more than 120 company trademarks, all of them very handsome and incredibly topical.

Reference:http://www.eni-irl.com/eni/trademark_history.htm
More Logos

CrimsonLogic Logo

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SENa_Wur0ZI/AAAAAAAACIY/c_kjBbtkyo8/s320/CrimsonLogic+Logo.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5207105638650073490" />
What we stand for
CrimsonLogic is a rational new thinker, in a new economy. We have pooled all our resources and energies into re-inventing working processes and pioneering new ways of doing things.

We aim to revolutionise how organisations operate by giving our clients access to better and more innovative systems, removing current constraints and opening doors to new opportunities. In essence, CrimsonLogic makes better sense.

The Identity

CrimsonLogic's Nautilus Shell
The inspiration behind the CrimsonLogic logo is the Nautilus shell, also known as nature's perfection. The proportion of one concentric layer to the next layer is a constant numeric value. This ratio, sometimes known as the Golden Ratio, can be found throughout nature. The proportional precision of the spiral exhibits an aura of intelligence and a strong sense of discipline in our approach to developing world-class solutions.

The dynamism of the logo is shown throughout the unfolding spirals stemming from the centre where energy, speed and agility are constantly generated. The artistic variant of this shell that is now the

CrimsonLogic logo, demonstrates creativity and clarity. The colour of the logo, Crimson, shares the colour of our collective approach to work. It is also the colour of passion, a passion for what we do.

This passion is the fundamental principle behind every idea generated, every system designed and every service rendered.

Reference:http://www.crimsonlogic.com/Brand.html
More Logos

Unique Business Solutions Logo

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SD4lTGur0YI/AAAAAAAACIQ/CmyyZxkNDh0/s320/Unique+Business+Solutions+Logo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5205639229441036674" />Our logo is the winged hat of the Greek god Hermes, as he was referred to in Greek mythology. This active basketball player invented the shoes with a small pocket in which little utensils or keys can be stowed when playing sports.

With the unique pocket as well as the young and fancy style KangaROOS distinguishes itself from other shoes, which were highly technical and functional at that time.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SBfTF4k60tI/AAAAAAAACHw/XTqG4ySVu_U/s320/KangaROOS+Logo.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5194852793235198674" />
In the early 80s, KangaROOS was the most aggressively growing brand in the USA. During his trip to the USA in 1981, Bernd D. Hummel saw this newcomer in the market and was attracted to it right away. Bernd Hummel GmbH signed a distribution and licence agreement and became licensee of KangaROOS for Germany, Austria and Switzerland in the same year.
The first collection for Germany, which was developed in the USA, was launched for season fall/winter 1983/84 and included also innovations, i.e. DYNACOIL which is an energy recycling and steam/cushion system for the sole developed by NASA.

A sound and professional sales strategy combined with sensational advertisement of Springer & Jacoby, allowed KangaROOS to reach to one of the best top ten sports brands within three years.

1991 the licensor KangaROOS was taken over by Pentland Group plc in London. Bernd Hummel GmbH made a new master licence contract with the new licensor Pentland. The new master contract allows Bernd Hummel GmbH to develop its own independent collection which especially fits its markets in Germany and other European countries as well.
In August 2002 Pentland and Bernd Hummel GmbH prolonged the licence contract for the next ten years. Today, Bernd Hummel GmbH is the biggest licensee worldwide and also licensor for Eastern Europe.

Nowadays, KangaROOS is a fashion sports brand which can be found in shoe shops and specialised sports shops as well.

The unique small pocket which is in every shoe of KangaROOS and the cute kangaroo logo have not been changed and symbolise as brand logo and characteristic since 1982.

KangaROOS succeeded in combining lifestyle with the know-how of functional shoes. Latest trends are realised quickly and flexibly. There’s a continuous innovative and functional improvement of the design. Therefore, in various ladies’ and kids’ shoes the anatomically shaped VILDONA DRYSOLE will be used. This patented insole provides an optimal climate within the shoe. Also the KangaROOS boots for adults and kids offer a comfortable foot climate thanks to the approved and breathable ROOSTEX membrane, which protects reliably against water and wind.

Stylish design, good quality and a very good price-performance ratio are characteristic for KangaROOS. Apart from the fair partnership cooperation customers also appreciate the reliability as well as the continuous and efficient service.

Consequently, in partnership surveys among dealers, KangaROOS is regularly chosen by industry-specific magazines as one of the top ten sports shoe brands.

In the meantime KangaROOS develops the following collections:

sports and casual shoes with pockets
a sportive, stylish clothing collection for children, ladies and men (with secret pockets)
a sportive, stylish bag collection
a watch collection
Early in 2007 Bernd Hummel expands its sales area to 20 European countries with a new KangaROOS licence for the Benelux countries and France.

Reference:http://www.kangaroos.nl/en/brandhistory.php
More Logos

Synapse Logo

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SBUtX4k60pI/AAAAAAAACHQ/u9QtfZ6ZNGo/s320/Synapse.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5194107633589211794" />
The Synapse logo is designed to convey a sense of lightning (we’re fast!), neurons (we’re smart!), and electricity (that’s what we do!). Zap.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SBUtyIk60rI/AAAAAAAACHg/_Dbuy0EIoxc/s320/Synapse+Logo.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5194108084560777906" /> The lightning/neuron/branching image is a fractal-like object that repeats its structure at different scales. It is a “Julia set” generated at fifteen iterations. Here’s how we create the image.

There is a famous recursion in mathematics:
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SBUtq4k60qI/AAAAAAAACHY/144aZGa3DaQ/s320/SynapseLogo.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5194107960006726306" />

Depending on the value of c and where you start ( z(0) ), the magnitude of z may converge to a finite value, oscillate between a finite set of values, diverge without bound, or dance chaotically through an infinite set of values.

For example, if c = -1, this equation is z(i+1) := z(i)^2-1.

For z(0)=0, z(1) = 0^2-1 = -1. For z(0)=-1, z(1)=-1^2-1=0, so z will oscillate back and forth between 0 and 1.

For z(0) = 2, z(1) = 2^2-1=3, z(2) = 3^2-1=8, and z will diverge without bound.

For z(0) = (1/2) + sqrt(5)/2, z(1) = z(0) so z will stay at a fixed point.

The Julia set, for a given parameter c is the set of starting points that do not diverge as i goes to infinity.* The initial value z(0) and parameter c are usually given the complex domain, so the numbers have a real part and an imaginary part.

Depending on the value of c, the Julia set could be anything from the null set, to a disc, to an infinite dust of point. The Synapse logo, depicts a Julia set with c=sqrt(-1).
The real part of z is plotted on the horizontal axis from [-1.5,1.5] while the imaginary part of z is plotted on a vertical axis from [-1.5,1.5]. Points inside the Julia set are colored white.

* The traditional definition is actually the points that move chaotically through an infinite set of points, but this is not the definition that the Synapse logo uses.

Reference:http://www.synapse-energy.com/aboutus/logo.shtml
More Logos

FIFA World Cup Logo 2010

2010 FIFA World Cup™ - Official Emblem

The 2010 identity is unique, vibrant and dynamic, graphically encapsulating the African continent while more intimately dipping into South Africa's rich and colourful heritage for inspiration.<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_d1yewYtBxw0/SBEqAok60oI/AAAAAAAACHI/nN3eHXwebdU/s320/FIFA+World+Cup+Logo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5192978035715527298" />The graphic figure strikes a resemblance to the earliest rock art paintings for which our country is also famous. This figure is caught in mid-action performing a bicycle kick - a style of play that captures the flair of African football.

The figure is lucid, energetic and indirectly illustrates an inherent passion for the beautiful game. It is kicking a football upwards - an invitation from Africa to other nations of the world to join the game.

The actual ball is a modern representation of a football, suggesting that it belongs to FIFA. And for the first time ever, this ball that has traveled across the globe will touch African soil.

The colourful backdrop behind the figure represents the South African national flag. The ‘swishes' extend upwards, from south to north, reaching out to the world. They embody the energy, diversity and fiery passion of our country, and they symbolise the rise of the rainbow nation.

The typeface is an original creation. It reflects our personality and reinforces the idea that in South Africa we do things uniquely. It is playful, naïve and free-spirited. It is also bold, welcoming and friendly.

The logo is celebratory in nature and energetic in its feel.

Reference:http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/organisation/emblemsposters/officialemblem.html
More Logos
