A lucky young golfer has sunk a hole in one – on his last-ever junior round – to scoop the tournament for his high school, according to the PGA.

Klein Koltz, who studies at Lake Travis High School in Texas, played the hole with his final stroke of the competition. His hole in one, played on the 191-yard 12th at the Morris Williams Golf Course in Austin, represents a career-to-date best performance, securing the runners-up spot for the second consecutive year.

The swing came in sudden-death circumstances as Koltz was helping his school strive for second place in the closing stages of the Texas 5-A high school championships. The hole in one on the par-3 allowed Koltz and the team to take the lead and ultimately helped the team secure its silver medal spot.

The stroke was not only one of the most fortuitous of the competition, but also Koltz’s last swing of the club as a high school student before moving on to further study. His pending graduation means he will soon be moving into the ranks of university golf, with Sam Houston State University preparing to welcome the Texas youngster to their golf squad this year.

Sam Houston State University is based in Huntsville, Texas, and runs a PGA-accredited gold program where students can come to study golf business, management and personal development. The four and a half year degree program sees most alumni become professional players. With his hole in one performance, Koltz might already be well on his way.

The odds of shooting a hole in one stand at 1 in 12,500, making it a once in a lifetime event for a select band of weekend golfers. Not many golfers will ever lay claim to the achievement marked by Koltz in his final high school round.

Terravita Scottsdale Country Club in Arizona, which has hosted PGA tour events and US Open qualification rounds, often hosts hole-in-one and closest-to-the-pin competitions for professional players. Some tour events even offer players the chance to win a new car or a cash prize for landing a hole in one, such is the rarity of the event.

The hole in one is the most prized achievement in golf. To secure a hole in one in competition, and in a sudden death playoff format, is a remarkable achievement. The strike confirmed Lake Travis’ second consecutive medal in the boys competition, after Koltz’s stunning display to secure second a year earlier. As for the future, there is no doubt Koltz could have a promising career ahead of him.

The Lake Travis high school girls, who were also in action at the Morris Williams course in Austin, managed to go one better than the boys. Their victory means the girls championship will be heading back to the school along with a silver medal for the boys competition. But with Koltz landing a shot that Tiger Woods would be happy with, Koltz can’t be too disappointed the boys didn’t bring back the victory.

Arsenal head into their match against Norwich City needing three points to maintain the pressure on Chelsea and Spurs in the top four. The Gunners have lost just three matches at home so far this season and only Manchester United have scored more home goals. Norwich City can move onto 38 points with a win, which they will see as giving them a great chance to effectively preserve their Premier League status for next season. However, they are not the betting favourites with Unibet, as they have won only one away match this season.

A win for Aston Villa at home against Fulham will move them onto 36 points and further away from the bottom three places. They have been in a relegation scrap for most of the season but they have taken points from eight home matches and this could potentially be win number five. Fulham will have their work cut out in a hostile atmosphere which will make it difficult for them to secure away win number four. Only Swansea City in the top ten have scored fewer away goals than Fulham this year.

If Everton beat Queens Park Rangers at Goodison Park then they could go to within a point of Arsenal, if the Gunners slip up against Norwich. Everton have lost just one match at home this season, which emphasises the scale of the task which faces QPR. For QPR, it’s a simple case that they have to do everything they possibly can to win the match. They are locked in the bottom three on 24 points, just one above Reading and many of their supporters may have already given up on any hope of staying in England’s top flight. Reading have a very difficult home match against Liverpool, which could end their season if they lose. Reading have scored just one goal less than Spurs at home but they have conceded 31 goals which has led to six defeats, as they remain rooted to the bottom of the table. The reading doesn’t get any better for Reading fans because Liverpool have the second best away attack in the division. Liverpool are currently seventh and they will be hell bent on not finish below Everton in the Premier League table.

Sunderland have a very difficult away match at Newcastle United on Sunday. Newcastle have taken points from home matches on ten different occasions and have scored the same number of goals at home as Spurs. Sunderland’s away record is appalling with just three wins this season, which Paolo Di Canio will be trying his hardest to improve. A win takes Sunderland onto 34 points which could move them up to as high as 15th place. Stoke are still very much locked in the relegation battle in 15th place on 34 points and they have possibly the worst match possible against runaway league leaders Manchester United. United need to win to maintain the gap between themselves and Manchester City and Sir Alex Ferguson should be very determined to ensure his side don’t slip up, in the same way they did last season.

If you were to ask a random person on the street to name a famous poker player, the odds are
pretty good that they wouldn’t be able to answer. If they could, however, there are about 4

Live dealer sneeze

This is a surprising clip of a croupier who just could not hold back her sneeze. The video begins with the spinning roulette and the ball lands on a number. A second later we hear a loud sneeze and the camera switches screen to the dealer and the resulting winners. It becomes obvious who the sneezer is, you can tell from her voice. She even saw a ‘bless you’ on the teleprompter. That is when the girl starts poking fun at herself in many ways like saying even the blackjack girl in the other set must have heard her too. Hockey's Worst Injuries

When a sport requires athletes to strap knives to their feet and to skate around on ice trying to hit a disc of vulcanized rubber (that can reach speeds of over 100 mph when struck) all the while avoiding being pounded by the opposing team, it's no wonder there is the occasional injury. In fact, I'm surprised there aren't more injuries and deaths in the sport. Watching replays of the following injuries may be enough to make you lock yourself in your room to play party bingo where you're safe from everything but carpal tunnel syndrome.

It's one thing to injure yourself or to be hit by the opposing team but it's quite another to be attacked by your fellow teammate. Tomas Vokoun, goaltender for the Florida Panthers, was taken off guard during a game against the Atlanta Thrashers on November 30, 2009. Vokoun's teammate, Keith Ballard, was upset that Vokoun had just given up a goal to Thrasher player Ilya Kovalchuck and decided to take out his frustration on the goal post with his hockey stick. Unfortunately, Ballard missed the goal post and struck Vokoun in the head and sending him to the hospital for an ear laceration instead. ESPN hockey analyst Barry Melorse commented on the incident, calling it, “maybe the stupidest thing I've seen in my life.”

Ballard's bashing (try saying that five times fast) of Tomas Vokoun was at least an accident, a remarkably stupid accident, but an accident nonetheless. The same can't be said for Marty McSorley when he slashed Donald Brashear in the head. The incident happened during the Vancouver-Boston game on February 21, 2000. McSorley had tried multiple times to try and start a fight between him and Brashear but failed. McSorley then proceeded to slash Brashear with a two-handed strike to the head. Brashear suffered a grade 3 concussion and McSorley received an indefinite suspension and was charged with assault with a weapon.

Swedish born Anders Borje Salming brought an entirely new meaning to the phrase, “taking it to the face.” On November 26, 1986, Salming was a defenceman for the Toronto Maple Leafs and they were playing against the Red Wings in Detroit. Late in the game Salming was knocked down in front of the Leafs net and, while down, was hit in the face with Gerad Gallant's (of the Detroit Red Wings) skate blade. Salming's face was sliced so bad it required over 200 stitches. In 1989, just three short years later, Salming would be signed as a free agent with the Red Wings. I guess he must be a forgiving type of guy...

Injuries to the head and face are bad enough but few things are as cringe-worthy as taking a skate to the throat. Richard Zednik and Clint Malarchuk both share this dubious honor. Zednik was playing for the Florida Panthers in 2008 against the Buffalo Sabres. During the game, Zednik's teammate, Olli Jokinen, tripped and cut open Zednik's external carotid artery with his right skate. Zednik, with the help of medical personnel in the arena and emergency medical personal, survived the injury and underwent surgery.

Malarchuck received his injury while playing for the Buffalo Sabres against the St. Louis Blues on March 22, 1989. Steve Tuttle was chasing the puck when his skate caught Malarchuck on the neck and severed his internal carotid artery. Luckily for Malarchuck, the Sabres trainer, Jim Pizzutelli, was a former army medic who served in Vietnam. Pizzuetelli put his experience in good use and saved Malarchuck's life.

Arsenal’s been without silverware now since 2005. Will Arsene Wenger’s team end another season empty-handed? That won’t be good for Wenger, who desperately needs some trophies soon for the sake of his legacy as longtime manager. Lately, the squad that seems to consistently emerge at Arsenal is one that’s good, but not quite good enough, and creative, but not quite creative enough.

The loss of team captain Robin van Persie to Manchester United is a real blow. Despite his much-lamented departure, however, Arsenal looks to be in good shape for the season ahead. With van Persie’s transfer confirmed, the squad can set the drama of his leaving aside and focus on the remaining players. Lukas Podolski (forward), Santi Cazorla (midfielder) and Olivier Giroud (striker) are important new signings, but at least one of them will need to make a quick adjustment to the Premier League and become a fully contributing member of the squad immediately for Arsenal to have a hope of winning the season.

The rest of the squad looks strong as well, all good news for Arsenal. It is hopeful that Alex Song will remain and certainly Theo Walcott is unlikely to go anywhere. All the center-backs remain uninjured, meaning that Thomas Vermaelen, Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny are all available and should see plenty of playing time. The central midfield has a good deal of depth. Wenger will have the choice of such players as Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky, Aaron Ramsey, Francis Coquelin, Abou Diaby and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. As keeper, Wojciech Szczesny has come under some criticism for his inconsistent performance, but he enters the new season with another year of experience under his belt and still has a great deal of potential.

Van Persie’s bitter description of Arsenal as a club unable to compete with the elite of Europe will still be ringing in Wenger’s ears as the season gets underway. With two years left on his contract, Wenger will want to prove that his players don’t just play stylishly but get the job done. This season, Arsenal must turn its superior possession statistics into goals.

Those in search of Arsenal tickets are sure to see some terrific matches this season as the squad fights for a higher standing and trophies in the wake of these criticisms.

Arsenal under Wenger has never dropped below fourth place in the Premier League and won’t do so this season. While the new signings must perform well early on, many will be looking to Giroud to step into van Persie’s boots, which the striker is unlikely to be able to do.

Unfortunately, finishing in the top four again will probably be the extent of Arsenal’s accomplishments for yet another season. They are also unlikely to make a particular impact in the Champions League. The squad can survive van Persie’s departure, but they won’t rise above it. Despite the clear talent on display, there are too many adjustments to be made. This season will be about pulling together a new squad, not securing Wenger’s legacy.
