Super fun happy good times on the show this week! Craig Prather stops in for some studio time, promoting his brand spankin’ new CD “No Limits”. Reverend Rory’s brother, Mike , is in town and keeps the third chair warm for Chewie while he’s gone. And we had absolutely NO technical difficulties. None whatsoever. Nope.

Craig Prather is a super guy and collaborative musician – his CD is a two-fer! With a ridiculous number of songs on it, it is a double CD release, all for the price of one! We chat it up, talking about his experiences and the scores of Reno musicians he’s worked with in the past few years. Seriously! Craig Prather can name-drop with the likes of Tom Gordon and Nick Ramirez!

We have a lot of fun, but really the Worst Little Quiz does not fail to disappoint this week. Despite such different guys, they were running a pretty tight race right up until the end, and kabbblaaaammmmm! Everything changes. You gotta listen!

We got the SHA-ames! We got the SHA-ames! We got The Shames! We’ve teased you with it for over two years and it’s finally happened! We were finally able to pin down Penny Cillin and Mikie Shame, and they did not disappoint. It is as awesome – awesomer! – as you think it should be. Unfortunately, Shames drummer Cyril was unavailable for the show. The girls came in with a great musical selection – six or seven songs, including a Worst Little Podcast Exclusive first listen to a new Shames song!

David is a really funny guy, appearing in comedy clubs nationally and on the podcast “Professor Blastoff“. His latest CD, Explosion Land is available on his website and iTunes. David will be appearing at the Reno Tahoe Comedy Club in the Pioneer Underground June 7 & 8. Go out this weekend and have a laugh with someone from this town who got out and made good!

The Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S3 E15

Thanks for bearing with us in the week off – Reverend Rory pulled a “Don Geronimo” and fell off the stage at Jub Jub’s during Marianarchy 2013, and the show left us all exhausted and spent. It was a killer time and we want to personally thank everyone that came out to the show that weekend. We would not be able to do this for the last nine years without your support. We raised a bit more than $3,100 this year! Thank you, thank you, thank you, from all of us at WLP and the family of Dale Kellams.

This week, we’ve got some fast drinking and hard partying Reno rockers in the studio. The Hellbilly Bandits got in touch with us and then proceeded to invade the studio. Srsly – they brought an entourage and everything (note to future guests – NO!). It was a bit of madness at the Chez Dogwater this week, but totally worth it. The Hellbilly Bandits are cusséd, dirty shitkickers and they’ve got the music to prove it!

There is a tearful reunion of Wally and Chewbacca that you don’t want to miss. These childhood buddies hadn’t seen each other in years and have a touching, tender moment on the show. Have a hanky ready.

Really though – they are a blast. The music is killer, about topics near and dear to Reno, like hookers and meth! It’s a boot to the face and a smack on the ass. You do not want to miss them live. Their next show is this Friday at Davidson’s Distillery – where Wally runs the open mic on Mondays.

Capturing the Inner Adam

Adam Springob joins us this week as a solo artist. He’s been stepping out from above Greg Gilmore’s very small shadow and showcasing his own singing and songwriting. It’s really good stuff. Unfortunately, you won’t hear it!!!! He brought a damn band with him this week. Actually – he brought TWO bands with him to make one giNORmous band called …. Something Or Other. Joining him in the studio are Michelle Belle (guitar - Scarlet Presence), Carter Stellon (drums - Scarlet Presence), Samantha Gates (fiddle), and Greg Gilmore (bass - Kanes NOT Merkin – lets be clear about this: Greg is not in The Merkins. He’s not that good.)

We had a really fun time with these guys – so much fun that Nick and The Rev had to take off before the show was done!!! They’re not even sure what happens yet!!! There is a lot of talking, yelling and chaos  - more than usual – really. I’m supposed to take down notes and tease it out here, but I seem to have neglected to do that this week, although there is a really awesome drawing of a polar bear holding a surfboard next to the note “Sam seems so nice – why these a-holes?”.

The Worst Little Podcast – DOWNLOAD LINK – S03 E13

WARNING: I want to start this post with a warning. I, Reverend Rory Dowd, am a big bucket of fail this week. Right out of the gate, I faceplant into a brick wall, every joke I tell and bit of information I say in the first 30 min of the show is wrong wrong wrong WRONG! I apologize in advance. But I was SAVED-uh! Josiah Knight, Reno singer/songwriter, comes in and plays some really killer tunes for us, picking the show right back up. This guy is a new-ish friend to all of us (within the last 365, at least), and a welcome addition to our music scene.

We are also saved early on in the show by a fun interview with Dustin Kaufman of the Weediculous Comedy Tour. He and three other LA area comics are travelling around the country in a minivan, filming a documentary about their tour and the state of marijuana culture in the US today. Many of their stops are in dispensaries and cafes, but here in Reno – we got them coming down to the Shea’s Tavern!! Thursday night, 5/9 (today for most of you) at 9pm he and his cohort will be kicking it off – filming it live for a documentary that should be up on Netflix … at some point. (As we know from Nowhere Nevada, a movie is only finished when it’s done!) Opening up for them are Reno Comedians, Jenny PezDeSpencer and Brandon Lara! Good times….

The Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S3 E12

You know what heaven is like? A room full of beautiful women smiling at you, without a murderous glint in their eyes. This week we had three lovely local ladies in the studio – Lacey Mattison, Shelly Jackson and Dena Sweigart. Lacey is a local singer songwriter and long-time friend of the show; Shelly is a local crafter, gallery curator and event organizer with Indie Reno and Wildflower Gallery; and Dena was Lacey’s moral support (and ride) that somehow got roped into being on mic. (I wonder how that happened)

This weeks episode is totally 50 shades of GHEY! Even Reverend Rory was blushing by the end of the show! He entirely blames Nick for the gaeity. We also have a phone call with LA area comedian, Ed Galvez, who will be appearing at the Reno Tahoe Comedy Club in the Pioneer Underground this Friday and Saturday!

Greetings, Worsters! Lovely to see you today. Are you having a good day? Does this seem a little weird? It should, because I’m buttering you up before you get into the hot ear mess that is this week’s episode. We have Merkin in the studio and the boys do not disappoint. They record a couple songs for the first time EVAR here on the podcast.

Will C will be appearing at the Pioneer Underground this Friday and Saturday for three shows. A veteran as well as funnyman, Will C informs us that the shows will be a fundraiser to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, so get out there and support a great cause while you laugh and drink.

The Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S3 E11

Great fun this week, but the post is going to be light, because Reverend Rory has poor time management skills.

In studio, we have a bunch of cast and crew from the Reno film project “Nowhere, Nevada”. Male Lead, Jef Derderian; Casting Director, Juli Green; Director of Cinematography, Tyler Bourns and Executive Producer, Brian Sutherland all took time out of their pot smoking busy schedules to hang out with us and talk with us about the film – which is almost done!!!! Late late late in the show, we also get a special appearance from Tom Gordon, whose fingerprints are all over the sound of the movie. (Not to mention that we have to thank Just Nick for making a lot of this happen, and Rev. Rory is on screen for about 45 seconds)

The Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S3 E10

They do it down and dirty. Who? The Kanes, that’s who! On this week’s episode, Greg Gilmore and Adam Springob of The Kanes come in and play us a few songs off of their upcoming album, “Black Magic”. Drummer Mike Orris had better things to do, so we got to hear Greg and Adam duel with guitars. These guys are always fun – if you can decipher what we’re saying when we’re all talking over each other.

I’m a little short on time myself, so I’m gonna give it to you down and dirty as well. The conversations get weird; Greg and Adam really blow it on the quiz; Nick steps up to the plate;  Chewie’s still out; Rick and Rory are golden, as always. No-call, no-show on the part of both the Vampirates and The Shames. But at least the shames had a good excuse – they were somewhere near the border south of Phoenix and a lot of police/emergency band radio was making their cell phone reception spotty. We look forward to hearing from them next week? If nothing else, we’ll get a tour recap when they’re on the show in June (yes, really, this time).

The Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S3 E9

Hello all you fine people out there in internet land! Since nothing goes off without a hitch around here, we had some scheduling problems because Reverend Rory is an asshole. But our good friend Jarrod Evans, bassist from Slut Fungus, was able to come in and throw down some acoustic tracks with us. Thanks for coming through, mang!

Also in the studio is Reno artist Kelly Ogilvie. She has a show that will be closing at Reno Art Works on April 25. Her show, Well Red, will be on display until then. Ogilvie is a painter and fiber artist, meaning she makes art from fibers and materials. I’ve also seen her do a little spot welding here and there – follow the hyperlink on her name to find her FB page and check out some of her art there. As talented as she is adorable, Kelly kinda keeps quiet until the quiz. THEN the gloves really come off and we all fall in love with her.

How can you not trust a face like this?

Also want to mention that there is a great show this weekend at the Reno Tahoe Comedy Club in the Pioneer Underground with Frankie Quinones. Would have had a phoner, but for the aforementioned scheduling issues, it didn’t happen. However, personally, Frankie seems like a pretty cool guy, so you should go support him and Reno Comedy at the club this Friday or Saturday night!

And if you’re looking for something do do, don’t forget about Stregapalooza this Friday night, hosted by Reverend Rory (who will play a set as well) and featuring THREE of Nick’s bands. Saturday, Rev. Rory will also be at A Salon 7 for their 9th annual White Party Fundraiser. All obvious jokes aside (like the ones we make on the episode), this is another really great benefit – this year it will be going to FOUR separate charities. Pretty killer.
