Unknown to many, in the depths of New Zealand’s economy there existed a small enterprise called the “Egg and Brick Emporium” – colloquially known as the “E’n’B” - purveyor of eggs, bricks, bassoons, miscellaneous puzzles pieces and other necessary goods.
Jack (young man in need of a job) is about to join this store on its rise along with current shareholders Max (frazzled workaholic), Nathan (poultry enthusiast) and Forest (Nathan’s less poultry-enthused girlfriend).
Spurred by debt, a spurious marketing campaign and international investment the store will achieve astronomical success. But with the pride comes the fall… a fall with global implications…

People pre-preserve their response repertoires like lemon jelly jars or packets of dehydrated peas.
But how prepared are they when surprise strikes? How can we expect to predict anyone's reaction when our own repertoire is stuck on shuffle mode?
Join this loveable lot as they expose the volatility of human reactions where instincts turn into performance, and pre-conceived ideas allow hours of preparation to hinge on one reaction to remember!
Dine through to the show at the delicious Astoria cafe and join us in laughing at human nature's ability to sometimes get it all wrong.

First performed in Dunedin in 2009, Hurai by Harry Love is a story of Maori and missionaries in the early 19th century.
As the European missionaries are confronted by Papa, a religious prophet espousing a potent mixture of Old Testament and Maori lore, the scene is set for a devastating collision of cultural and religious values.
Modelled on the Greek Bacchae, Hurai draws on the religious movement led in the Bay of Islands in the 1830s by Papahurihia, also known as Atua Wera - the red/burning god.

In Babylon, the audience is lead thru the darkened crypt of St Mary’s of the Angels to encounter a complex soundscape reminiscent of an ancient place.
The artists use extended vocal techniques, percussion, live instrumentation and technology to mix their voices into a rich tapestry of sound.
Weaving together evocative images to bring the audience into a primordial world of light and dark. Spine tingling and deeply entrancing ‘sound theatre’, recommended for an audience who want to awaken their senses.
An intimate performance for an audience of 15 people per show.
Performed by: Sascha Perfect, Chris Prosser and guests.

Be Glad You’re Neurotic is a tragic comedy of 21st century neuroses, guided by a book written in 1939.
The story charts the narrator’s own experience of buying a book called Be Glad You’re Neurotic from an op-shop, and discovering at the same time that his girlfriend intends to leave him, partly because she thinks he’s too neurotic.
This sets him on a journey to discover what it means to be neurotic. Along the way he encounters strange omens, such as a man who wears a bike helmet inside, a psychiatrist in a desert, and an eccentric robot dog.
What is neurosis? Are you paranoid? Do you think you’re weird? Are you the only one?
Come and find out just how neurotic you are, and why you should be glad.

Perky & Fiddle are two gnomes. But no normal gnomes, they travel around with an amazing, but completely illegal show.
This very rhythmic and sexy show, that carries viewers away, exposes a side of gnome life that very few people ever get to see.
But watch carefully, they are in disguise and you may just miss them.

Honey never goes off. They found honey in Egypt, in the pyramids, in a pot or something, and they tried it and it was still really delicious and good.
This play is about love and is about the universe and mice/cheese and will contain earnestness and stories and singing and flesh and honesty and almost certainly some kissing. It's about love.
Honey is written by Joseph Harper (numerous bicycle related shows) and has been made by Joseph and Virginia Frankovich and Chris Stratton.

Tickled by the supposed “social weirdness” of autistic children while working with them on a holiday programme, Jen McArthur created a character for the stage who deals with everyday life in a unique way.
Echolalia uses the art forms of modern clown, theatre and dance to present Echo - a young woman trying to leave the house for a job interview.
Touching, surprising, playful, McArthur’s experience in street theatre comes to the fore, in this energetic portrayal of a person dealing with their fears.

Poets reading from their own work, and reading from each other’s, and generally giving the idea of poetry as words on edge a run for its money.
Or as Ian Wedde has it, putting words 'on the edges of their seats, at the edges of the known universe, where speaking, writing, and telling get shuffled in the language deck. Edgy words, words on high alert.’
Amy Brown, Lynn Jenner and Aleksandra Lane join New Zealand Poet Laureate Ian Wedde in a relaxed but edgy take on what poetry has to offer the Fringe Festival goer – that’s you!

Why is Samuel Beckett her only visitor?
Her father's muse, the daughter of James and Nora Joyce loves to dance. She's drawn to young Sam, who works for her dad.
In 1920s Paris Lucia tries Josephine Baker's cheeky cabaret chic and the liberated dance styles of Isadora Duncan. But can she keep her balance in the wake of her father's fame?
Why is Lucia Joyce in an asylum? What is Carl Jung's diagnosis? And does she really dance with Nijinsky?
Sacha Copland, Jan Bolwell and John Smythe bring you this remarkable story of a promising talent lost in another's wake.

Misery never sounded so good.
The Svens are a 16 piece Lyall Bay collective that performs with five singers and a string section. Their folk, pop and country love songs are set on the sunless, luckless slopes of Wellington.
This show is sure to appeal to anyone who has drunk 8 pints of beer and run up Plimmer steps with a broken heart.
The band’s breakthrough single, the 10 minute Chairman of the Wool Board’s Daughter, was picked by Grant Smithies as a highlight of this year’s Nature’s Worst alternative music compilation. File under hilarious gloom.
