Anyway, allow me to give you a little update from the utero.

All of my soft cartilage is turing to bone, and my umbilical cord is growing stronger and thicker. I'm weighing in around 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and I've grown a whole inch longer from head to bottom, putting me at a whopping 5 inches! I can move my joints pretty well, and my sweat glands are starting to develop, which is great, because it is HOT in here!

Well, I'm back to sleep in order to prepare for South Dakota tomorrow morning and Colorado later this week. Mommy sure keeps us busy!

Thus, in preparation for a weekend away (and needing snacky foods) and more food to fill up our deep freeze, we made pesto yesterday.

Ada helped momma rinse the leaves off and put them on a plate.

And then put them in the food processor.

She loved watching the food processor spin.

Speaking of blueberries... check out this bucketful.

This bucket puts me over 50 pounds of blueberries. Well, let's be honest, I've picked WAY more than 50 pounds, but I have successfully saved 50 pounds from grabby little hands and hungry stomachs and snuck them into our commercial size deep freeze, hidden away in the basement. I hope these bad boys will last me through til next summer.

I know 50 pounds might seem like a lot. But when you've got a 1 year old who loves them and smoothies to make every other morning, you just might be surprised how quickly the stash can be depleted.

Btw, does anyone remember the book, Blueberries for Sal, from their childhood? My momma used to always read it to Jill and I, and I loved it! It's definitely going on my 2010 Children's summer reading list for Ada.

I came to the sad realization this morning after dealing with 2 hours of nausea that I am already 4 weeks into the second trimester, and BLEH! I feel almost worse than before.

Now don't worry - I didn't start crying about it, though the dreaded "emotional roller coaster" of pregnancy has definitely landed in this household and I feel as though I'm living at an amusement park, laughing one minute, ready to weep the next. But it's nothing that a couple of slices of some crispy, extra salty bacon and the noon hour can't fix.

And let us not be too quick to feel sorry for poor me, as we must remember what valuable treasure I bear. On that note, Baby #2 would like to tell you what he/she has been up to in the last week.

"Right now, I'm about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. I have NO idea what an avacado is, but Ada says it tastes great!

My legs are much more developed, my head is more erect than it has been, and my eyes have moved closer to the front of my head. My ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of my scalp has begun, though my locks aren't yet recognizable. (My mommy assures me, they'll be gorgeous like hers once they do arrive!) And GUESS what?! I even started growing toenails.

And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, my heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day (Mommy assures me this is a lot!), and this amount will continue to increase as I continue to grow. I guess I'm supposed to be growing a lot in the next month, which means Mommy's tummy will be growing as well."

~Baby #2 signing off and back to the Utero.

Ada had crackers with cream cheese and cucumbers from the garden. As you can tell the cream cheese was a hit! The cucs, not so much.
