Should you get insurance when you take out a credit card? If so, should you take out a policy at the same time as get your credit card or should you look elsewhere for credit card insurance? Before deciding whether you need it or not, it can be useful to know about the different types of insurance for credit cards that are available to you.

Card protection insurance

Card protection insurance is a policy that simply covers you in case your credit card gets lost or is stolen and you suffer a financial loss as a victim of credit card fraud. You might find such a policy useful, but you might not need it at all. According to the consumer group Which?, there are rules in place stating that banks must reimburse victims of credit card fraud and identity theft.

Payment protection insurance

The second type of insurance you can get when you have a credit card is payment protection insurance, a type of cover you might have heard a lot about recently. Payment protection insurance, or PPI, is a policy that covers your repayments on your credit card if you fall ill, become injured or can’t work and earn money for some reason. There are exemptions to these policies (i.e. you aren’t covered if you get sacked from your job), but if you are worried about falling behind with your payments if the worst should happen, PPI can be a useful policy to have. PPI has been in the news a lot recently due to widespread mis-selling, where customers were sold it when applying for loans and credit cards without knowing they were being sold it. As long as you want PPI and are told all about the terms and conditions of the policy, you won’t be a victim of PPI mis-selling and you could actually end up with a very useful type of insurance cover.

When and where to buy credit card insurance

When deciding whether or not to take out the insurance offered at the same time you apply for credit card or other financial products, there is one simple thing to ask yourself – is it the best deal? It may be more convenient to get two products at once, but there is a good chance you could get your credit card insurance cheaper if you shop around a bit.

You have all read my struggles, past present and heck I’ll admit, even future with my weight. Honestly I’m getting quite sick of it! Ingredients:

I’m sure by now you’ve all heard about Abercrombie & Fitch, and how their CEO Mike Jeffries doesn’t want to clothe anyone who’s above a size 10.. If you haven’t heard about it you can see the story here.

I wanted to share my thoughts…I’m one of the fatties that Mike Jeffries doesn’t want buying A&F clothing. While most people are slamming and boycotting the clothing line now, I’ll be honest and say, I’m not. I’d still buy my daughter clothes there because she fits in them. Do I fit in them? Nope, not a shot in hell, but I can’t fault the company, the CEO, the clothing line for only wanting to fit certain sizes. They don’t have my size, I simply won’t shop for myself there.

It’s like slamming Lane Bryant or Torrid for not having smaller sizes. They only cater to ‘plus sizes’ so should the size 10 and under throw a fit because they can’t buy clothes there? Of course not. There’s no rule that says every store has to carry all sizes, there’s no law in place. If a company wishes to only cater to certain people, certain sizes that’s up to them. Its your choice as a consumer not to shop there.

Discrimination? Far from it. They’re not saying you CAN’T shop there, you can go in and buy accessories, you can go in and TRY to fit into their clothes, they’re not banning you from the store.

Sure, some of the things he said, obviously he’s a douche bag, you can tell that just by his statements, I’m not condoning his words in any way, but its his choice as the owner of the company to do what he wants with it. If he REFUSED money from ‘fat people’ REFUSED their entrance into any of the stores that would be one thing, but he’s just not accommodating sizes larger than a size 10, what harm is there in that? I personally don’t see it, and I’m no where near a size 10 or below.

Unfortunately, this society has become too politically correct, they’ve become to accommodating. Sometimes you can’t have everything you want. If you’re that upset over A&F not carrying anything larger than a size 10, and you want to shop there SOOOO bad you need to sign a petition over it, then maybe you need to get yourself down to that size. For me, not my style of clothing, so I really don’t care what size they carried.

Parents upset saying we’re supposed to be teaching our children to love themselves, yes we are. I have two girls, body image and media wreck that I know. Mike Jeffries comments are distasteful yes, however, what *I* teach my children dictates things, not a clothing store, the CEO of clothing store. If anything my personal belief is that teaching your children everyone deserves the same as everyone else is the wrong way.  And Honestly, he looks like hell, he’s definitely not one of the ‘beautiful people’.
