WWE is expanding its storytelling into vertical microdrama through ReelShort. But does putting wrestlers into a spy soap opera reveal a new audience for wrestling, or simply unleash the kind of chaos Wrestling Mayhem Show was made to discuss?

Sorg and Mad Mike explore that question in episode 1024, alongside a promising TNA Bound for Glory, a debate about Judgment Day’s star building, and a reminder that independent wrestling belongs in the same conversation. The surprising connections are best experienced in the full episode.

Agent of Shadows opens the rabbit hole

Mad Mike brings Sorg the Agent of Shadows trailer, and the familiar wrestling faces immediately raise questions. Drew McIntyre’s action scenes, Jacob Fatu, Booker T’s throne, and Michael Hayes turn the reaction into a guessing game about what this project is trying to be.

For Mike, the concept recalls Big Apple Takedown, the WWE novel that imagined wrestlers operating in a world of espionage.

The hosts then browse ReelShort’s catalog. A conversation about mobile storytelling becomes a discussion of romance novel imagery, improbable titles, potential audiences, and a proposed guessing game for DJ Lunchbox. Listen to find out which discoveries push this beyond an ordinary trailer review.

Bound for Glory gives Sorg reasons to be optimistic

After watching with Eamon and Merlin, Sorg comes away appreciating a TNA show whose debuts and surprises seemed to serve a purpose. Shayna Baszler’s fit, Leon Slater’s performance against Nic Nemeth, and the Hardys’ continuing commitment to spectacle all provide talking points.

The Call Your Shot Gauntlet also gives Sorg an opportunity to talk about the appeal of mixed competition and the effectiveness of smaller wrestlers eliminating larger opponents. Special Agent Zero’s connection to Bill Collier keeps the local wrestling thread alive.

Then comes the production detail that captures Sorg’s imagination: Gabby Forza’s gnome attached to a jib camera. It is a small visual idea with an outsized effect on someone who spends so much time producing wrestling shows. The full discussion explains why that entrance shot stands out to him.

Live microphone freedom comes with responsibility

The Max Caster discussion shifts the tone toward responsibility. Sorg and Mad Mike address the entrance rap controversy and ask how a live segment should be supervised.

Sorg’s production perspective focuses on the person overseeing a match or segment and the importance of discussing an entrance before it reaches an audience. Mike questions whether the rap gimmick is serving Caster well. Their guesses about internal decisions and future destinations remain speculation.

Giving someone a live microphone is itself a production decision, and the responsibility does not end with the performer.

Is Judgment Day a star factory?

Chelsea Green, Liv Morgan, and Roxanne Perez lead into a broader debate about factions. Sorg wants Chelsea to have a program that demonstrates why she belongs at championship level. Mike imagines a potential Roxanne breakaway using the familiar structure of Evolution’s old betrayals.

That fantasy booking opens a bigger discussion about what Judgment Day has accomplished. Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, and Liv Morgan all inform Sorg’s view that the group has helped build stars.

Money in the Bank adds another debate. The hosts are critical of the women’s match and Tiffany Stratton’s win, while Penta’s presentation inspires enthusiasm about his future. Custom briefcases, pyro, and Mattel’s Slamulance also prompt questions about the relationship between booking and merchandise.

Independent wrestling and the channels people overlook

Sorg highlights the 880 World Series of Wrestling, RWA Bloody Harvest, 2PW’s Andrew Palace versus Gory casket match, and the next WMS conversation with the 2PW crew about the Cauliflower Alley Club.

Beyond local shows, he sees potential in free ad supported streaming channels as discovery tools for promotions outside wrestling’s largest brands. MLW, NWA, OVW, DEFY, and WWE Evolve enter a conversation about reaching viewers who might simply be flipping through available channels. The precise business payoff remains an open question.

What We Learned: perspective and presentation

Sorg’s lesson comes from John Cena’s interview with Trevor Noah. He appreciates Cena’s gratitude, willingness to contribute, and perspective on the early years of his career. The discussion connects success with how someone experiences their work, not just how much attention it receives.

Mad Mike focuses on Carmelo Hayes joining The 946. A different presentation and a place in a prominent feud change how Mike sees Hayes’ prospects. His WarGames expectations are predictions, but his larger point is clear: context can make familiar talent feel new.

T-Pop and Tina Keys contribute from the live chat with Triple A and New Japan/AEW observations.

Watch or listen to Wrestling Mayhem Show 1024 for the full conversations and the ReelShort detour that has to be heard in context.

AEW went to Paris. Mad Mike went to bat for El Grande Americano. And Wrestling Mayhem Show 1023 eventually arrived at a question that reaches beyond wrestling: How do you keep caring about the thing you do?

Hosts Sorg and Mad Mike welcome guest co-hosts Tina Keys and Trueprinceofpro (T-Pop) for a conversation that moves from championship possibilities to independent wrestling, shared memories, and the friendships that make Mayhem matter.

Grand Slam Paris Brings the Energy

The crew starts with the show they have just watched: AEW Grand Slam Paris.

Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada deliver the kind of match that makes a television special feel like a major event. The discussion centers on the false finishes and how even an expected outcome can become uncertain when the wrestlers sell the possibility.

Other highlights include:

Darby Allin versus Kyle Fletcher, earning praise for their physical match.

Mercedes Moné versus Queen Aminata, with Sorg connecting Aminata’s performance to memories of her work in Pittsburgh.

The Paris crowd and arena presentation, prompting a discussion about what a fresh international audience adds to wrestling television.

Can Clockwork Carnage Make Its Rules Work?

Eight competitors. Timed arrivals. Early eliminations. Then a scoring period.

Clockwork Carnage gives the crew enough material for its own debate before anyone starts fantasy booking the field.

Tina explains the format, while Mad Mike offers a useful comparison: Iron Survivor sounded questionable on paper and became a match he enjoys. That leaves room to give this experiment a chance.

The concern is whether viewers can follow the changing conditions without spending the match studying the rules.

The conversation then turns to possible participants, including Okada, Kyle Fletcher, Kenny Omega, and Claudio Castagnoli. These are wishes and predictions. Tina also points the crew toward the version staged at Pro Wrestling EVE, giving them something to watch before judging the concept entirely on its explanation.

Money in the Bank Should Create Opportunities

The WWE discussion asks what the ladder matches should accomplish.

Mad Mike would prefer more room for competitors who have not already enjoyed championship runs or briefcase victories. Tina is especially interested in the women’s match and predicts Roxanne Perez will win.

Roman Reigns and LA Knight lead to imagined title changes, cash-ins, and questions about whether championship stories are getting swallowed by faction stories.

The crew proposes several paths for Bron Breakker and Oba Femi. It is the kind of fantasy booking that makes watching wrestling with friends fun: everyone has a scenario, and someone is ready to argue with it.

Did the PWI 500 Underrate El Grande Americano?

Every PWI list invites disagreement, and El Grande Americano’s placement gives Mad Mike his opening.

His argument: a breakout year and a memorable mask-versus-mask match deserve more credit.

T-Pop adds the other side. Match activity and wins and losses matter to a ranking system. Tina brings the stated evaluation criteria into the conversation, turning the debate toward what fans mean by a great year and how that may differ from a publication’s methodology.

The list also gives the crew a reason to celebrate:

Bandido

Lee Moriarty

Beastman

Facade

Pretty Boy Smooth

Bill Collier

Bill Collier’s TNA work gets particular attention from Sorg, who has watched him perform around the region for years.

DEFY Detroit From Both Sides of the Stream

Sorg worked on the production of DEFY Wrestling’s Detroit debut, while Tina watched the show. Their perspectives meet around the chaotic action, Lio Rush’s presence, Trish Adora standing up to Moxley, and Bryan Keith versus Joshua Bishop.

For Sorg, the challenge is capturing what an audience feels in the room.

That means following action across the venue while balancing commentary, crowd microphones, camera communication, and graphics. Tina’s feedback gives the conversation a practical view of what reached the people watching at home.

Reflecting on the PAC Tribute

Sorg recounts attending AEW’s PAC tribute in Pittsburgh, describing the emotion in the room and how difficult it was to take in another deeply personal wrestling night.

The crew reflects on Ospreay’s Black Arrow tribute and the emotion around the performers. Mad Mike praises Jon Moxley’s commentary, which gave the television audience another way into the evening.

The conversation makes room for grief, shared memories, and the humor that can emerge when people remember someone together.

What We Learned

The closing segment moves from an unforgettable reality television moment to childhood wrestling memories and an honest conversation about purpose.

Mad Mike: Brady Booker, formerly Bodhi Hayward, brings a wrestler’s determination to Survivor as he tries to remain in the competition after an injury.

T-Pop: Adam Copeland’s return to a venue tied to his childhood wrestling memories introduces him to the Junkyard Dog Juke.

Tina Keys: That homecoming matters, and so does the experience behind EVE’s talent leadership.

Sorg: Moxley’s post-show message and its recollection of PAC’s attitude toward the craft offer a lesson about caring for your work.

For Sorg, caring means putting yourself into what you do. It also means noticing when exhaustion and stress are changing your relationship with something you love.

He shares why rest and reassessing commitments matter, while thanking the people who help him through difficult stretches.

The episode closes with another reminder of wrestling’s possibilities: Tina’s story about lucha libre in libraries inspires a proposed library fundraiser and a very Mayhem banned-book match.

Some weeks, a wrestling conversation starts with match results. This week, it starts with the people who make those matches matter.

On Wrestling Mayhem Show 1022, Sorg and Mad Mike remember PAC and reflect on a career that made high-flying athleticism, technical intensity, and surprising comedy feel like parts of the same complete performer.

The performer behind “The Bastard”

For Sorg and Mad Mike, PAC’s legacy reaches well beyond any single championship or promotion. His Neville years helped define an era of NXT and gave the cruiserweight division a performer whose offense looked both spectacular and convincing.

The memories range from his work with Sami Zayn to his near fall against Seth Rollins, his encounter with Orange Cassidy, and the joke of wrestling a man named Gravity after years as “The Man That Gravity Forgot.” His golf course match with Darby Allin offers another example of an intense character fitting into a wonderfully strange situation.

Mad Mike also remembers the humor fans saw on UpUpDownDown. Beneath the scowl was a person capable of laughing with his friends, a contrast that makes these memories feel especially meaningful.

All Out delivers and starts another argument

The hosts move into AEW All Out, with Sorg highlighting PAC versus Andrade, Ciampa versus Okada, the tag team TLC match, and Ospreay versus Moxley.

Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page receive particular praise for a rivalry that continues to generate compelling moments. Adding Kofi Kingston and Austin Creed creates a different dynamic, especially when newer allies react to the darker chapters of Swerve’s history.

Ospreay’s story with the Death Riders also works for the hosts. Sorg compares the training and rebuilding arc to Rocky: a talented fighter pushed through a difficult experience and emerging with a new direction.

What should a championship do?

Mad Mike’s biggest objection concerns AEW’s title hierarchy. If a reigning secondary champion pursues the world championship without putting their own belt on the line, what does that say about the championship they already hold?

Sorg sees a different possibility: holding a title can establish a wrestler’s credibility as a challenger for the top prize. The disagreement leads to discussion of title-for-title matches and TNA’s Option C, where giving up one championship makes the pursuit of another a clear risk.

The question also creates room for a hopeful idea. Sorg wants to see Lee Moriarty carry the reputation he has built in ROH’s Pure division into a strong Continental Classic showing. A memorable tournament run could introduce him to more viewers without requiring him to win the whole thing immediately.

WWE intrigue and a trip back to 205 Live

On the WWE side, Jaida Parker’s angle with Jacob Fatu sparks reactions, jokes, and speculation about where the story could go. The hosts also discuss Royce Keys, OTM, and the 946 storyline, comparing its emerging stars with earlier factions such as The Nexus and The Shield.

Their conversation circles back to 205 Live, including Noam Dar’s memorable habit of bringing Alicia Fox to ringside by phone when she could not be there. It is the kind of strange, funny detail that reminds fans how much personality existed in a show that did not always get the attention it deserved.

Independent wrestling remains part of the mix, with Sorg mentioning RWA, Prospect Pro Wrestling, and VCW as the local scene heads into more fall shows.

What we learned: Take the moment

The closing segment returns to appreciation. Mad Mike encourages listeners to value the wrestlers and fans who help make this community special. His example is a brief encounter with Mike Bennett in an airport: a congratulations on becoming a father, a good-luck wish, and a positive memory.

Sorg reflects on taking more pictures with friends and colleagues, preserving the moments that can otherwise slip away during a busy show. He also acknowledges that enjoying wrestling sometimes means taking time away from it.

That is where this episode lands. Make the memories, respect the people around you, support the wrestling you love, and leave room to take care of yourself.

Tina Keys returns as guest co-host alongside Sorg and Rizz for Wrestling Mayhem Show 1021. The week’s first puzzle is WWE Worlds Collide: the card brings together WWE and Triple A talent, but the crew is still looking for a clear answer about how fans will watch it. With AEW All Out drawing attention in Chicago at the same time, that question shapes their discussion of both events.

On the WWE side, The 946’s attacks have the hosts wondering what the group wants and whether the Bloodline can hold together. Rizz and Tina consider possible turns, while Sorg looks forward to seeing what Royce Keys and OTM can do together in the ring. The conversation also takes in Sami Zayn’s championship story, Cody Rhodes’ mounting frustration with Randy Orton, and what an unusually flexible Money in the Bank contract could mean for future title challenges.

AEW All Out gets its own match-by-match conversation. Will Ospreay versus Jon Moxley has the crew invested in a longer story, while the tag team title ladder match invites predictions about who leaves with the belts. They weigh other announced bouts and discuss the kinds of wrestlers who might flourish in a different environment, taking care to frame potential roster moves as speculation.

The episode then turns to the independent scene. Sorg and Rizz revisit RWA Fall Free For All and the work that keeps its audience coming back. Sorg shares a few memorable moments from VCW Where’s Zoltan?, including an unexpected musical performance caught on camera.

“What We Learned” ranges well beyond the week’s match results. Sorg notices just how ordinary it has become to spot wrestling shirts in public and takes a moment to send support to Gannon Jones Jr. and others in the Pittsburgh wrestling community. Rizz explains why sumo’s technique and tournaments have captured his attention. Tina looks toward Defy, House of Glory, and the many forms that independent wrestling can take.

There is also a live BeanBoozled challenge. Rizz starts with remarkably good luck. Whether he should have kept eating is another question.

TripleMania brought two nights of championship matches, lucha libre spectacle, unexpected appearances, wild interference, and one unforgettable image of Omos sending Rey Mysterio through a table.

That made TruePrinceOfPro the perfect special guest co-host for Wrestling Mayhem Show 1020. He joined Sorg and Mad Mike to examine what worked, what felt different under WWE’s influence, and where Triple A could go next.

Did TripleMania Still Feel Like Triple A?

The Las Vegas portion of TripleMania looked and felt more like a WWE production than past Triple A events. That polish created a larger presentation, but it also raised a fair question: Has some of the promotion’s distinct personality been lost?

The opening night did not carry the same importance as the Mexico City card, and portions of the Las Vegas audience were unfamiliar with the Triple A roster. However, the wrestlers still delivered the unpredictable action that defines lucha libre.

The Copa Bardahl offered a showcase for Triple A personalities including Los Vipers and Niño Hamburguesa. Omos immediately stood out as an obvious favorite, but his presence also demonstrated how naturally he has fit into the promotion.

The weekend’s other highlights included Rey Fenix defending the Cruiserweight Championship in a fast-paced four-way match and Nathan Frazer and Axiom proving that their style belongs in Triple A. Rather than becoming lost on WWE’s crowded main roster, performers like Frazer and Axiom could benefit from having a regular place to deliver the kind of matches that best showcase their abilities.

New Champions and New Possibilities

La Catalina’s championship victory carried particular emotional weight. After leaving WWE and rebuilding her career through CMLL, she returned with the goal of capturing championship gold. Her victory completed a compelling journey and created several fresh possibilities, including a future match with Roxanne Perez.

The Wagner Brothers also defeated the War Raiders to capture tag team gold, adding another notable championship change to the weekend.

Corey Graves earned praise for bringing energy and valuable context to the English commentary despite clearly struggling with his voice. JBL also continued to be an entertaining presence, especially when playing off the performers and the Spanish-language commentary team.

El Grande Americano’s Championship Celebration

The TripleMania main event embraced every bit of lucha libre chaos available. Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano were surrounded by interference, callbacks, and the kind of crowded finish that would feel excessive almost anywhere else.

Here, it felt appropriate.

El Grande Americano captured the championship before a live band played as the crowd sang along. The celebration showed how completely Mexican audiences have embraced a character who was never originally designed to become this kind of hero.

The match also continued speculation about a future showdown between Rey Mysterio and Dominik. A mask-versus-hair match in Mexico would carry cultural weight that would be difficult to reproduce anywhere else.

The larger question is whether Triple A can use WWE’s resources to become a truly international touring brand. Successful events in the United States could eventually open opportunities in Spain and other markets without abandoning the promotion’s Mexican identity.

Penta Wins the Night Without Winning the Match

WWE’s visit to Mexico also produced major developments outside TripleMania. Sami Zayn became WWE Champion, Damian Priest turned against R-Truth, and Chad Gable delivered another outstanding performance against Dragon Lee.

The biggest debate came from Penta’s title match with Roman Reigns. WWE presented the match like a WrestleMania main event, and the audience responded accordingly. Penta looked completely at home opposite one of WWE’s biggest stars.

Some of the crew believed WWE should have completed the moment with a championship change. Others argued that Penta’s performance established him as a main-event wrestler even in defeat.

The familiar claim that a popular wrestler “does not need a championship” was not accepted without a fight. If Roman Reigns is already established without a title, why could that championship not be used to elevate Penta or LA Knight?

Whatever happens next, Penta proved that he belongs in WWE’s biggest matches.

Wrestling Inside an Aircraft Hangar

The episode also spotlighted Prospect Pro Wrestling’s Banger at the Hangar, held for families connected to the 911th Airlift Wing near Pittsburgh International Airport.

The wrestling ring was positioned inside a massive aircraft hangar, with performers making their entrances through a military aircraft. Approximately a thousand people watched throughout the event, and the Pittsburgh Pirate Parrot even became involved in a confrontation with Paul Atlas.

The show also served as a sendoff for Dennis Gregory, a fixture of Pittsburgh professional wrestling for more than two decades. For Sorg, filming Gregory in 2026 echoed his earliest years recording Pittsburgh wrestling in 2008.

It was a reminder that independent wrestling can still create settings and experiences that audiences will never find on weekly television.

What We Learned

Mad Mike noticed that Joe Hendry’s album announcement and guitar-based appearances are beginning to resemble the old Elias playbook. He also made an exception to his usual opposition to gimmick infringement after Rebel adopted the “Role Model” title during an emotional AEW tribute.

TruePrinceOfPro brought several lessons from Mystery Wrestling. Von Vertigo lost a match in which the loser would be erased from history, leading to a video package that removed him from old photographs while the audience pretended not to recognize him.

A Fans Are the Weapons match took its stipulation literally by pulling spectators into the action. Mystery Wrestling also presented an IMAX Camera Match involving Johnny TV and an enormous functioning camera that became increasingly difficult for its operator to carry.

The discussion inspired another possible stipulation: a Fans Bring the Cameras match assembled from audience phone footage, VHS tapes, Polaroids, and outdated digital cameras.

The most meaningful lesson came from Sorg. Wrestling can hurt people, and wrestling can help people heal. Sometimes it can do both during the same show. After an emotional period for the Pittsburgh wrestling community, he thanked everyone who offered support and expressed hope that the people involved could recover and move forward together.

Wrestling Mayhem Show 1020 is hosted by Sorg and Mad Mike with special guest co-host TruePrinceOfPro.

New Chapters, Weird Wrestling and Turning Safe Search Off

Professional wrestling has a funny way of making endings and beginnings happen at the same time.

That became the unofficial theme of Wrestling Mayhem Show 1019 as Sorg, Mad Mike and Rizz were joined by longtime Mayhem supporter and special guest co-host Tina Keys.

At Wembley Stadium, AEW created one of those moments that immediately feels like the beginning of something bigger. Will Ospreay defeated Kenny Omega, completing a journey that was woven directly into the presentation of the match.

Ospreay’s entrance revisited pieces of his career and even included an emotional contribution from his mother. Omega’s presentation leaned into the Japanese wrestling and anime influences that have followed him throughout his career. Once the bell rang, the two were able to pull from years of shared history.

It wasn’t simply another championship change. It felt like AEW declaring that the Will Ospreay era had begun.

New Level Has Arrived

Another new chapter began with the arrival of Kofi Kingston and Austin Creed as New Level, joining Swerve Strickland.

The Wembley crowd barely needed an introduction. Fans quickly adapted the familiar New Day chant into one for New Level, and suddenly AEW had another major team in an already deep tag-team ecosystem.

Their arrival also fueled one of the show’s larger discussions: wrestlers aren’t automatically “fumbled” simply because they become more successful somewhere else.

Sometimes the fit changes.

Tommaso Ciampa and Penta were among the examples discussed. A wrestler may have all the talent in the world, but the right presentation, creative direction, environment or opportunity can completely change how audiences perceive them.

New Level now gets the opportunity to discover what a different environment can unlock.

Sorgstock Somehow Happened

If Wembley represented wrestling on its grandest scale, Wrestling Mayhem Show Presents: Sorgstock represented wrestling after somebody opened the toy box and stopped reading the instructions.

The third Wrestling Mayhem Show-produced event combined legitimate wrestling with ideas that probably shouldn’t have worked.

There was a video game match in which wrestlers attempted to behave like poorly controlled characters from a wrestling game.

There was a back-to-school match involving increasingly questionable school supplies.

There were aliens.

There were bites.

There was live music.

There was live artwork from Facade.

There was Some Guy Named John causing trouble until Eamon decided he’d had enough.

There was an emergency Instacart order for concessions.

And, most importantly, there was a recorder that apparently has mysterious psychological power over Rizz.

Underneath the insanity, however, was something important.

Sorgstock still had good wrestling.

Brianna and Reese delivered one of the night’s strongest traditional matches. Championship wrestling bookended the event. The unusual stipulations weren’t replacements for wrestling — they were opportunities for performers to show another side of themselves.

That’s becoming the identity of these Wrestling Mayhem Show events. They aren’t trying to become another weekly promotion. They’re occasional opportunities to let talented people try something strange.

Sometimes that means a great wrestling match.

Sometimes that means an alien biting somebody.

Both belong.

WWE Goes Very Atlanta

The conversation eventually moved toward WWE’s Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta.

Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton are set to meet again. Oba Femi and Bron Breakker collide. The women’s division gets a prominent multi-person match, and the presentation is being wrapped in Atlanta culture.

Then Tina Keys introduced everyone to WWE’s Magic City merchandise.

We’ll simply say Google can provide additional context.

Safe Search settings are between you and your internet provider.

The Atlanta discussion also expanded into what’s coming next for WWE and Triple A, including upcoming events in Mexico and the possibilities surrounding stars such as Penta performing in front of those crowds.

Saying Goodbye to Enjoy Wrestling

The funniest Wrestling Mayhem Shows often end up finding an unexpectedly emotional subject.

This week, it was Enjoy Wrestling.

The Pittsburgh promotion has announced that its run is coming to an end, and the news hits especially hard for people who have worked on, wrestled for or simply attended the shows.

Enjoy became more than another independent wrestling promotion.

Its production looked different.

Its atmosphere felt different.

It created a space where LGBTQ+ wrestlers and fans could feel welcome without that inclusivity being treated as a novelty. It brought wrestlers to Pittsburgh who may not otherwise have had that platform and gave established performers an environment they genuinely enjoyed working in.

Its influence can also be seen elsewhere in the Pittsburgh wrestling scene.

The closing leaves a real hole.

But wrestling rarely leaves empty space untouched for long.

As Tina pointed out, while one chapter closes in Pittsburgh, DEFY Wrestling is beginning new chapters of its own, including expansion into Detroit and new opportunities in the Pacific Northwest.

Somebody will see what Enjoy created.

Somebody will be inspired.

And eventually, somebody will build the next thing.

That’s wrestling.

The shows end.

The people move.

The ideas survive.

And occasionally, someone gets hit with a recorder along the way.

Sorgstock has arrived, and that means Wrestling Mayhem Show 1018 is operating with just a little more chaos than usual.

Sorg is joined by TruePrinceofPro (T-Pop!) and Rizz for one final preview of the Wrestling Mayhem Show Presents event. What began as another wrestling show has developed into a mixture of professional wrestling, live music, art and whatever bizarre rules the wrestlers manage to introduce before bell time.

The Runway and Wild Wild South will open the event competing for the Pit Fight Tag Team Championship. Sammy Suntheimer has the unenviable assignment of facing Billy the Alien. Gory’s RWA No Limits Championship will be defended through a “Bite-Off,” where bites effectively replace traditional falls. Mikey Montgomery faces the returning Just An Idol in something called a Video Game Match, while the Department of Jocks are involved in a Back to School Match that even Rizz doesn’t fully understand.

Brianna Bands and Reese Hayes will also meet one-on-one after catching Sorg’s attention during a previous multi-person match.

The event expands beyond wrestling. Facade will create live graffiti art, DJ Sikes will provide music and Gary the Dragon is scheduled to make an appearance.

T-Pop Takes Us to AAA

With T-Pop on the show, AAA gets considerably more attention than the average wrestling podcast is probably prepared to handle.

Omos caused havoc, Rey Mysterio continues juggling his authority responsibilities and the Latin American Championship picture changed again. Penta defeated Bronco Nima, leading Los Perros del Mal to remove Bronco from the group before immediately trying to recruit Penta. When Penta refused, Rey Fenix and Dragon Lee eventually became involved.

That pushes things toward Ola de Calor, part of a packed Sunday featuring both AAA and NXT programming.

The sheer amount of wrestling available leads to an interesting observation: wrestling does not really have a traditional Monday Night War anymore. Instead, promotions are fighting for attention across entire weekends — but streaming means fans can ultimately watch almost everything.

Death Before Dishonor Delivers

ROH Death Before Dishonor provided several of the crew’s favorite matches of the week.

Lio Rush and Action Andretti’s Fight Without Honor embraced the history of the ECW Arena, including Rush paying tribute to Sabu. One thrown chair somehow became stuck perfectly in the ropes, turning an attempted violent spot into one of the night’s funniest moments before the match continued getting increasingly dangerous.

Bandido and Nick Wayne also impressed, with T-Pop arguing that Wayne’s performance demonstrated why he could eventually become the youngest ROH World Champion.

Lee Moriarty faced Katsuyori Shibata after Nigel McGuinness was unable to compete. Shibata forced Moriarty into a rare position where the Pure Champion looked genuinely vulnerable and nearly ran out of every escape available to him.

And Athena remains the giant question hanging over Ring of Honor: after such a dominant championship run, who can possibly be the person to finally defeat her?

Lockdown Gets Wild

TNA Lockdown also produced one of the most replayed moments of the weekend.

Jason Hotch and Mustafa Ali went all-in on their cage match, with Hotch launching himself from the cage through a table on the floor. T-Pop admits to tracking down seemingly every available fan angle of the dive.

Elsewhere, Joe Alonzo earned a contract opportunity, Avery Styles was discussed as another new signing and Kiera Hogan returned.

Wembley Is Waiting

The episode closes with a look toward AEW All In.

Kenny Omega versus Will Ospreay already feels big enough without much explanation, although their latest interactions have made the rivalry increasingly personal.

Willow Nightingale and Mercedes Moné bring years of history to their championship confrontation, while Cage & Cope versus The Young Bucks offers another major attraction.

And if anyone is looking for a potential show-stealer, Kyle Fletcher, Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita sharing the same match seems like a good place to start.

What We Learned

T-Pop learned that Místico, Atlantis Jr. and Soberano Jr. will represent lucha libre on Netflix’s Physical 100: Mexico.

Rizz learned that actually helping assemble professional wrestling shows is far more stressful than fantasy booking them.

And Sorg learned — or perhaps was reminded — how rewarding it can be to watch wrestlers from the Pittsburgh scene spread their wings. Whether it’s members of the Department of Jocks appearing in the Renegade Rumble, Some Guy Named John delivering a record-setting performance or Gianni winning the Rumble, seeing familiar talent succeed elsewhere provides a different kind of payoff.

Sometimes the best part of producing wrestling isn’t what happens on your own show. It’s getting to watch what the people you’ve worked with do next.
