Wow! The Lenten Season quickly passed. It is now Easter and it is time for rejoicing. I found a lot of observations about the Lenten season but I am not gonna talk about it now, to each his own, as I would say. But I do find it nice that for the sake of argument I asked Simsimi about its opinion about eating meat on Black Saturday and it gave an opinion that I agreed with. So that was fun.

We are creating new traditions this year. Most families would be at malls in the next city and perhaps joining the Easter Egg Hunts these big malls provide. I would but seeing large crowds with about a month to go in my pregnancy feels daunting to me at best. Maybe next year, I can let the kids join.

Happily, my kids got treated to a treat because I kept bugging their dad and he found them some egg shaped chocolates which we hid around the house. As a treat, they also got to eat ice cream today and their favorite - pansit palabok. Yum!

It's so hot, I also want ice cream but I am trying to behave. So to anyone and everyone reading this! Happy Easter! I hope you find this occasion meaningful and wonderful!

What Happens Next?

This is an all-in-one blog post and update. Being a SAHM, my only escape from my kids is when their loving grandmother takes the time to get them off my hands for a while. I have 15 minutes to write this post and I have a lot of things to say!

My kids got an extra certificate each! Yay! So proud. Their school is into Gardner's Multiple Intelligence System, so they have special awards.

My daughter got Star Pupil Award which is given to all the students, and she got Word Smart Award, which I shall fairly admit to you that it does not come as a surprise because her vocabulary is so wide and she has been using words that I must admit, I didn't even know about when I was her age.

My son also got Star Pupil Award and Nature Smart Award. Upon my research about Nature Smart Award, it is given to the one who is aware of his surroundings, loves nature, insects, trees and I know for a fact that my son loves to make sure the trash makes it to the trash can.

Not many awards are given and I am proud that in my son's class of 16 students at least he was a recipient of an extra certificate. The same goes with my daughter since my daughter's class are composed of 18 students and I think there are just 7-8 extra certificates to be given away so I am really a proud mom.

I also discovered the difficulty of having their culminating activity at the same time. I am luckier than others because my mom and my husband came, but I still wish I could be at 2 places at once. My kids look for me all the time since they are told to give their certificates to their mom.

I am both dreading and looking forward to the time when my daughter becomes a Prep student. Where the grades are not in alphabet anymore but of numerical values. Qualifying for a Most Outstanding is tremendously difficult since their school requires them to have an average of 96, no grade lower than 95 and no letter grade below VG. I don't want to pressure my kids. I think highschool and college grades are more important.

Summer Vacation is Coming

Friday would be the last day of school for my kids. Today was their last day of exams. It's amazing! Another school year has passed. I wonder how my kids would rate their school year. Vacation time is coming and I am now in panic mode as to what activities they should be doing this summer.

Being pregnant and big right now, my ideas are going toward playing school, doing garden work, playing backyard games and perhaps enrolling them in a 5-day cooking class at my friend's toddler school. My mom however has different ideas. My kids also have different opinions on what they want to do for their summer vacation.

We just got a new vehicle, so I am hoping for a long test drive to the homeland of my husband, but that's just a hope. If not, I would gladly settle for a revisit to Zoocobia or to satisfy my curiousity, a visit to Dasoland.
The beach is also beckoning to us. I would gladly go and bring the baby too when she's born.

We're all excited for vacation to come and wondering how life will be, after new adjustments will be made. I wonder if my kids will get any certificates this year. Hmm... I don't mind not getting any. I know they did well and their test papers prove it anyway.

Anyone and everyone actually needs an online presence. It's like staking a claim to your part of the world wide web. If you own a business, offer professional services, have a cause you want to promote, the best thing to do is to make a website. That is the first step in making your presence known. There are sites that will help you build a website for free and this will help in your exposure.

Some that come to mind when I think of people who need websites are adoption agencies, blog designers, a big company, fighting for a cause, if you can think of it, I think they need a website. It's a way to reach other people without boundaries. The world is interconnected.

Make a website and promote it. Have people read the information you want to say. Make the website attractive to ensure more visits or repeat visitors. Keep it updated as well, seeing a website that hasn't changed its look since its inception is definitely 'boring' as my daughter would term it.

Contact information should also be provided when you make a website plus credits to the designer of the website as well. These are some of the things I look for when I visit a website. I love it when all the links that you can find in the website actually works. Information provided should always be factual and always check your spelling and grammar because some readers are often turned off when they read something that doesn't sound right.

There are a lot of ways to make money online, others blog, others do network marketing, others sell at social networking sites like Facebook, Multiply and even in their own blogs. Others resell hosting or domains, others sell at ebay, and others do paid for clicking, paid for reading, or paid for their opinions.

There was a short time in my life when I engaged in selling online. I had a friend who helped and guided me in the ways of ebay. Ebay is actually a lucrative business and is better safeguarded from scammers than most sites. That, in effect, is the main reason why I signed up for ebay and enjoyed a short stint as a seller. I found a supplier from a different social networking turned marketplace website and enjoyed great discounts reselling stuff. Some of my preloved stuff also went to the mix as I sold at ebay. It was a great way of getting rid of things I didn't really need but someone may love or have a need for at the time.

Selling has its perks, I get that high when I get a high positive feedback. That the person you sold an item to, appreciates the way you pack the stuff you send. The efficiency and thought you put into the item and the freebies you try to include as you appreciate and hope that more business will come your way.

I am actually reconsidering selling online again. I found a supplier of vintage jewelry that I can't take my eyes off of and I am planning to open an offline and an online store again perhaps through Ebay or Multiply.But jewelry and fashion accessories are seasonal so it is best to open a store when graduation comes or during Christmas season, a time when people are willing to shell out money for their friends and love ones.

What about you? If you were to open an online shop? What would you sell? I am also taking a fancy on educational toys but I'm more of a buyer in that category than a seller.

Pregnant and Craving

I'm 6 months pregnant but I look like someone who's about to give birth tomorrow. The summer heat is driving me insane. I can't wait until it's May and the baby is born. This baby worries me the most. More than the baby that I kept secret. I feel big, bloated, heavy and uncoordinated.

I feel old. She will be my 3rd child and I feel very old. I'm turning 32 after the baby is born but I haven't been pregnant for a long time, I've forgotten how. It isn't like my first 2 kids when they came one after another. The memories were fresh and I knew what to expect.

Every time I was pregnant, there is only one restaurant that I crave for but I know will never have the chance to eat at. Specially now, that it's already closed.

Till now, this is the only place where I get my money's worth and I never grew tired of eating there. Even if I ate lunch there everyday, I'd die happy. This is actually my favorite dish. Until now, I don't know how to cook it, so if any of you knows of this dish and knows the recipe. Please share. I am craving for it badly.

I was actually glad that there are now Thai restaurants in Manila, mostly at malls but nothing can change the way I feel about the Thai Canteen. Plus, this mixed dish pales all others in comparison in my book.

It's so delicious, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Mommy Thai also cooks Tom Yum Goong and you have the option to choose from Spicy or Not Spicy. She also does the sticky rice dessert! and sometimes, she also cooks fish lumpia which really is one of my favorites as well.

How to Start a Blog

As far as I know, there is only one person in the world I have influenced by asking her to write, since she is my non-biological twin and I know for a fact that she is a better writer than I will ever be.

Blogging for me serves as therapy. An escape from my routine of being a stay at home mom to 2 kids soon to be 3. Blogging is my connection to the outside world. Blogging shows me what is happening at other people's homes, other people's lives and what's new and hip that may or more often than not, is something that isn't here in our little city.

What I've learned so far and shared about starting a blog is to sticking to what you know about and what you are passionate about. For beginners, I recommend doing diary entries, things that happened, things that interest them. For a blogger who dreams of being a professional, be specific, find that thing you are most passionate about and write about it. Writing about things you love would not seem like work then and your articles come out better written and more engaging.

When starting a blog, you also have to consider that there are a lot of platforms to choose from. It all depends on your goals whether you want blogging to be a profession, a hobby, or a form of relaxation for you. If you're willing to shell out money for blogging and being noticed or just write for the love of writing.

It's all really up to you.

Korean Food in our City!

This is a photo of a dish I enjoyed at a Korean restaurant in our city. I have to confess I was skeptic about Korean food at first. I love Thai, it's my first love in other Asian food, the second one is Japanese, my roommate was the one who got me hooked on them. Finally, I got to taste Korean food and surprisingly I also liked it!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the quality of fine dining or restaurants where you can eat is what makes a city, a city or a place worth visiting. My non-biological twin before coming back home here in our city taught Koreans ESL (English as a Second Language). She worked in Baguio and at different academies. When she came here, one thing she said she really missed are Koreans and their food! She developed the taste when she got to know her students.

Luckily, last year, a Korean restaurant was opened in our little city. We finally got to get together to eat in the restaurant. I always let hubby get take out since the restaurant is near the school where he works.

Photographed above, is a Dolsot Bibimbap. Sizzling Bibimbap or Bibimbap served on a hot plate. Yum. Mixed toppings of veggies and some spice to add in it. Yummy. Eating dine in has its perks too. You get served with hot tea, a sampler size of kimchi and marbled potatoes. I like the marbled potatoes even it was sweet and I'm a diabetic.

My history with Bingo

I always looked forward to the times when my grandmother from California would come visit. She is an aunt of my mom who has lived in California for the longest time ever. I remember during my elementary years, she came and introduced a game to me which I've never heard of before. The game is called bingo.

She had her own complete set of cards and a little roulette for it. I had fun playing because I learned about alphabets and numbers at the same time. Plus, she made the game more enticing by sometimes using candies as prize. She came from California so imagine my delight at getting imported chocolates and candies.

The last time she was here, was the year I got pregnant with my daughter, around 2006. This time, Bingo has changed. She had her own machine that called out the numbers and showed which pattern would be the winning pattern this time. I got so amazed. My husband even enjoyed joining the game.

Fast forward to this year and she can't do what she usually does anymore because her husband got sick. She usually goes to bingo centers. She takes a bus and follows a religious schedule about it. How do I know? My mom went to the States and discovered that she still enjoys bingo days or bingo nights with her friends. Now, my grandmother with the help of her granddaughter now enjoys playing online bingo . She told us that she was taught by Marinella on how to play and she has a variety of bookmarked Bingo sites. So my grandfather and grandmother who taught me Bingo, now plays Bingo through the net and I think it's really great. They can do it at their own free time, have fun, at the comfort of their own homes!

For a while, I thought I would never be able to blog again. I was in a panic mode when my account with Godaddy got locked. I wouldn't be able to renew this blog which is the only blog that I have been keeping for the longest time. I discovered that my godaddy account has been compromised which led to my other blog being inaccessible and forwarded to an alien account.

I persistently contacted Godaddy support and got them to unlock my account. Thank goodness. I am also decided on blogging more often and reviving my cathartic meme. Letters That I'll Never Send. I hope to be able to do this starting February. So watch out folks!

I also bought a .info domain and followed the steps in this wonderfully informative blog. I will share them to you soon. I'm still looking for blog templates and thinking whether I should host them in wordpress or blogger. I still am not great at wordpress.

A New Discovery

Each Christmas vacation, my brothers-in-law come to visit. Last year, we went to the beach. Last May, we went to Alaminos. This time around, instead of the promised return to Manila Hotel, (my kids just like the bathtub), we were planning to go to Zoobic. Hubby had his field trip there a few months back so we thought it was time to bring the kids to the zoo.

The original plan was to go visit Zoobic Safari and Subic Ocean Adventure. While doing research, I changed my mind about it. I thought that Subic would tire the kids out even before they arrive even if we pass through SCTEX. Plus during my research of Zoobic, I found out about a different zoo which is nearer and perhaps more kid-friendly. I discovered Zoocobia and Paradise Ranch!

Paradise Ranch and Zoocobia became my first choice of alternative as places to visit. Included in the plan was a visit to Nayong Pilipino and El Kabayo but our real purpose was Zoocobia and if we could visit the other places that would be great too.

Zoocobia as my kids termed it, is a petting zoo. They got opportunities of close encounters with goats, birds, a bearcat and other animals. They got to feed the goats with milk in baby bottles. They tried to feed lovebirds with birdseed but got scared and a little hurt by the claws of the birds that they ran screaming out of the bird cage.

We got to Zoocobia first. The first thing we did was had lunch. We reached the place at 11 am. We left our house around 7:30. We had lunch at the restaurant in Zoocobia, and the food was great! Even my kids love the Breaded Chicken Fillet! They love breading, so that was my choice. For the guys in the photo, I chose the grilled pork chop. For my mom and I, we had breaded fish fillet which was served with a garden salad dressed with mustard and yummy potato fries. We ordered extra rice since it wasn't provided with the meal. The lunch was cheap, filling, and tasted great. My kids want to eat there everyday, so they tell me.

After lunch, we started the tour. A tour guide named Resty was our guide for our stay. We were told that we could watch a live animal show when we finished our tour. We got to see ostriches, an alpaca, Wagyu cow, greyhound dogs, love birds, owls, snakes, my kids enjoyed seeing a miniature horse and a Shetland horse.

Best of all , my kids loved being part of the show when they volunteered to help the dog do his tricks. In the photo above, my kids held the hoops as the dog jumped through each hoop. Then they held the hoop closer together so the dog could jump 2 hoops in a single jump.

I highly recommend that you visit Zoocobia if you want your kids to appreciate the animals. Watch out for my next post where I talk about Paradise Ranch.

The Year That Was

This is the year when:

Both of my kids started attending big school, my former alma mater. Amazingly tiring yet amazingly rewarding since both of them seemed to enjoy it. It was a big trial for all of us, but the kids managed beautifully after a rocky month.
We were able to go to a trip outside our city with the whole family. The fabulous thing about is that we got to attend a beautiful wedding and stayed at no less than Manila Hotel.
I got to go out and have a little social life.
I was going to start a business but was not able to push through.
God blessed me by making me pregnant with my 3rd child.
I won some contests on the web and also went on hiatus in the blogging world.

Dear Santa,

I've been good this year, yet someone scammed me from my future Christmas gift to hubby. Can i get a job? Anything online? Well, somehow it doesn't really matter what you give me this year. I just hope my kids are gonna be happy. As people say, Christmas is for the kids, and kids at heart. I belong to the latter. So does my hubby. I still haven't found anything nice for my mom and she deserves to have something nice. I only have a couple of nieces and nephews that are on my list but if I can't provide, would you provide them with gifts?

I hope that next year will be better and that I'll be more prepared. Christmas should come everyday but then you'd be so tired. So never mind. We have no chimney so try the windows instead. I am not sure if my kids will be leaving milk and cookies for you, we only have man made milk. My kids are allergic to cow's milk. Take care Santa. Hope to find lots of stuff under the tree this year for the kids.

When in London...

I am a Harry Potter fan. I signed up for Pottermore. I would love to visit London someday. I have relatives and a classmate there. It must be very interesting. It would be a dream come true to tour the castles, Westminster Abbey where Prince William married Kate Middleton. That would be very amazing!

I wonder how it would be to live in Top London loft conversions. I think lofts are great living spaces. New York residences are also defined as lofts. I think my cousins live in lofts. I wonder whether they belong to Middlesex loft-conversion group .

There's a lot of history in London. I just think about Philippa Gregor's novels and instantly I am curious as to how the places described and how does the lineage of the Tudors live on.

I would like to see Big Ben. I also wouldn't want to miss visiting Oxford as it is the most mentioned school in movies. I'm also curious about flea markets. What great finds would I uncover there? There are a lot of places that are certainly worth a first and second look. I wonder if it would be difficult to go there.

London is also the setting in my head for Arthurian Legends. King Arthur, Merlin, Knights of the Round Table. These are just a few of the things that fill my head when I think of London. What about you?

I miss small giveaways

I miss winning. Discovering small, obscure and little known giveaways make for a bigger chance in winning. So I miss them. I'm in panic mode as Monday approaches, it is my son's 4th birthday. My kids aren't lucky on their birthdays. I usually have less and less budget for their parties at school. I'm just glad that I was able to buy some gifts for them which is reserved for Christmas.

I found some at Multiply and Multiply is currently having a promo of free shipping for items bought that are worth 400 Ph. Pesos and up! I think that's a great deal! I got them some fun toys. I just wish I had earned a lot more from blogging to be able to buy them better gifts. Perhaps, next year will be better.

I hated the fact that I got scammed. My mistake. Big mistake. I am never going to do paypal to gcash exchange ever. Maybe when I'm rich I'll do that business.
