Previously we have written about ProtonMail and Tutanota - the open source, free and secure emails. Now, we will guide you on how to make your ProtonMail or Tutanota as your main email account.

We will share our experience on how we managed to migrate emails from Gmail, Outlook (previously known as Hotmail / Live), Yahoo email accounts.

1) Auto Reply and Email Forwarding

This step is essential to inform your friends or colleagues that you are no longer used the email account. Auto reply will let them know that you have switched to a secure email account. You can set auto reply to inform others such as:

"Hi there!

This is my legacy email address. Please contact me at: xxx@prontonmail.com / xxx@tutanota.com.

Thanks!"

Last but not least, you must configure auto email forwarding to forward any incoming email to your new email address. You can follow below guide on how to configure email forwarding:

2) Change your Finance Billing Email

If you use your Gmail/Outlook/Yahoo email to receive invoices, phone bills and credit card bills, then you need to change it manually on your profile details for respective biller. This is a manual step which you need to perform in order to break free from your past email account.

3) Unsubscribe, then Resubscribe

Clean up process is a must in your old email address. I suggest you can use few applications to speed up the process- Edison Mail (ios/android), Chuck (ios), Mailstrom and Unsubscriber by Polymail.

Edison Mail allows you to unsubscribe for any newsletter. Currently, this is our favourite email client in our mobile devices. We will review it on our future entry.

Please note that, by selecting emails to unsubscribe, you can also delete junk emails in your inbox. Thus, it will help you to filter important newsletter only. Then, you can resubscribe again the shortlisted newsletter with your new secure email address. Hence, you don't need to visit your old email account again.

4) Delete Useless Emails

Deleting email in your previous mailbox is very crucial. It will help you to declutter your old email inbox. It will help you to search for past emails which contain private and confidential information faster. Hence, you can forward those emails to your ProtonMail or Tutanota swiftly.

5) Monitoring

During this period, you need to monitor incoming emails in your Google/Outlook/Yahoo inbox aggressively. If you notice that some useful newsletters which you missed to unsubscribing and resubscribing, you can do it during this moment. Once you satisfy with the migration process, you can proceed to close your previous email addresses forever!

Maximize Productivity

You must follow the schedule of your first routine from before you started working from home.

For example, If you needed to be at your desk at 9 a.m., don’t wake up at 8.45 a.m. Please spend some times before you start to wake yourself up. For examples, you should have a coffee or prepare your breakfast.

Chatwing Chat Widget – An Embedding Tutorial

If you’re planning on setting up a chatting tool on your site, then you should really try using Chatwing. This nifty chatting tool can be used for free and comes along with a lot of features that can compliment its chatting capability and give your chatters a better chatting experience. And you can easily embed it on your site too!

Here’s a simple tutorial as to how you can do so.

Register an Account

Go to Chatwing’s site and make one. It’s very easy as it will only require an email and a password. And you’re done! You’ll be automatically redirected to the next page – the Dashboard.

Making the Chatroom

Before using one, we have to make one first – and the Dashboard is where you can do it. You can also see here which of your chatrooms are live at the moment and which are not. For now, you already have one chatbox so you can use that. Now press the Use Chatbox button.

Embedding Page

We’re almost halfway there. This is where you’ll choose how to utilize this chatting tool. We’re going to set it up on your site so we’ll have to go with Embedded Options tab. In there you’ll see the Height and Width of your chatbox and you’ll have the option of changing it using the scroll bars. It’s pretty simple, right? But Chatwing still has loads to offer to you. As said before, it comes along with features that further compliment this chatting tool. You can find those features when you customize your chatroom. You can do so by accessing the Customization Panel from the Dashboard.

The panel itself is separated into several tabs to make it easier for you to navigate and easily modify a specific part of the chatroom. You can also see changes you’ve made on the preview window too. Just remember to press the Save buttons on the corresponding tabs to make sure your changes are implemented on your chatbox.

Swype is one of the useful functions in Android. You don’t have to type anymore. Basically, in my opinion, swype is more compatible in table since it has a bigger screen than mobile phone. The built in swype for Android’s Jelly Bean is not functional enough since it only detects full word. Who is typing a letter in a text message? I bet no one does.
