The Woodville West Torrens FC would like to congratulate Luke Dunstan (South Clare FC), Malcom Karpany (Moonta FC), Riley Knight (South Clare FC) and Cameron Giles (Blythe Snowtown FC) on making the 2013 SA Under 18 State Squad. The Under 18 National Championships begin on Saturday June 1^st against NSW/ACT in Western Sydney and will finish on Wednesday July 3^rd at Etihad Stadium against WA.

The Woodville West Torrens Football Club would like to advise you of some very exciting news in relation to the Eagles contingency within the South Australian State League teams which will take on the NEAFL this Saturday at City Mazda Stadium.

Congratulations to our own Vice Captain Luke Jarrad for being named Vice Captain of the State Team, clearly Luke’s on field experience and leadership is well recognized.  To go with that, we have Craig Parry, Matthew Goldsworthy and Andrew Ainger who have also cemented their spots in the team.  Unfortunately our captain Luke Powell did not make the final 22 man team.  I know all these boys will wear the jumper with pride and enjoy the experience of representing the SANFL’s greatest team for 2013!  Well done fellas!

I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of the junior guys picked for the U/18’s Elite Squad.  5 players have been chosen in the “initial” U18 squad of 51 who will play at 5pm on Saturday after the State League game. They are Luke Dunstan, Malcolm Karpany, Riley Knight, Cameron Giles and Jack Hayes. The squad will be cut back to 40 after the trial game.  Well done boys and we wish you well in making the final 40!

Finally to our U20 lads chosen for the State Team who will be playing the NEAFL team @ City Mazda Stadium at 11.25am.  Congratulations to Karl Muller and Jack Muirhead for being chosen and whom I have no doubt will do the Eagles and South Australia proud.

It would be remise of me not to re mention the fact that Michael Godden has yet again been given the responsibility of the head coaching role for the Senior State team and that Shane Grimm was chosen to be the Assistant Coach for both the U18’s and U20 State Teams.

Congratulations to all the coaches and players selected and of course to the few that may have just missed the cut – this is an honor that we are certain you will all enjoy and embrace and we wish you all the best of luck!  For all the clubs faithful, this also highlights the great job that our coaching group does along with the magnificent caliber of development and talent management that goes into each player here at the Eagles.

From all of us – we hope you have a great time on the field and come away with a win!

As a member of our Club, you’ll be entitled to $10 entry for adults, $5 for concession and discounts within the West Adelaide Football Club’s licensed club on the day. Simply show your membership card / badge.

There’ll be off-street car parking ($5 entry off Milner Road), with a large screen TV in the ‘Mound Bar’ so you can watch the AFL game and State Game at the same time. And for kids, there’ll be a face painter and food specials.

Thanks for bearing with us throughout some minor changes we have made of late – we are receiving some great feedback.  Please note that the new vegetable option should kick back in this Wednesday evening giving you all the option for fresh vegetables or salad – better than ever before!  Also, we have now sourced a great new type of bread roll for you all to enjoy with your meals – again this should be active as of this Wednesday evening.  Finally don’t forget, as always has been the case, there will be two or three $10-$12 specials each night for you to choose from.

RE: Malcolm Blight – Number 1 Ticket Holder

Dear members, partners and affiliates of the Woodville West Torrens Football Club, this is to advise you of some very exciting news.

The club is pleased to announce that Malcolm Blight will be our guest speaker at the next Chairman’s Business Lunch on Friday the 26^th of April.  Please note that this will also include the Eagles Vs Magpies preview with Coach Michael Godden and Vice-Captain Luke Jarrad.  As per previous practice, all sponsors will be able to utilize their allocated hospitality tickets as per agreements for this fantastic event.

This day will be very special for a few more reasons!  We are officially unveiling a full Bronze Bust of the late Bob Hank – we would like to acknowledge that this memorial gift to our club was wonderfully donated by Basil Sellers.  We will also be unveiling the new Life Governors Wall (upstairs) within the presence of our Clubs great Life Governors.

After the sad loss last year of Bob Hank (our previous Number 1 Ticket holder), the time has come to appoint and announce our new Number 1 Ticket Holder.  Therefore, the final part of the official proceedings on that day will be to present Malcolm Blight with his number 1 Ticket to the Woodville West Torrens Football Club. Malcolm stated that although there is no replacement for Bob Hank, he would be honored to be that person for our club.

As you can see, Friday the 26^th of April will be an absolutely action packed event with a guest speaker of the highest caliber.  I would recommend getting in quickly to avoid disappointment – tickets are strictly limited.
