What I love most about inspirational quotes is that it will mean something different for each person. For me, this quote just means that I am in control of my own destiny business wise……and the sky is the limit!

The time comes when it hits you and you realize…….she’s not your little girl anymore. When it starts to become a struggle to carry her up the stairs. When snuggle time becomes a treasured occurrence.

The moment you realize that she may be the only one that gets to call you mom, makes you thankful for every single second that she’s in your life.

She may be all that I’m given in this life of mine, but I will treasure her always and no matter how much she grows, she will always be my little girl in my heart. And heaven knows, I hope that she ends up being taller than I am so grow baby, grow!!

It was the weekend before Christmas and the day that the session was scheduled to take place it decided to rain cats and dogs. The very next day, what was once rain, turned to snow. The snowflakes made the session even more magical, so in the end, everything worked out for the best. Mackenzie and Wes were meant to be together. They have that spark that was easy for me to capture. They required little to no direction because it just came to them naturally. One of the things that I love most about being able to capture engagement sessions is being able to capture that spark before the big day. It allows them to see a peek of what’s to come and to know what they can expect from me. While I may work a little quicker, and I may raise my voice a little more during the family portraits to make sure everyone is standing where they need to be on the wedding day, my shooting style remains the same. And I couldn’t have been happier with the magic I captured on this lovely December day in Vermont…..

The fabulous West Arlington Bridge is always a picture perfect backdrop!

I absolutely adore the following photos……there’s something about the snow on the trees that just makes them magical! These were taken in East Arlington at one of my favorite spots!

Next up we headed to The Equinox and even more sparkle was captured…..

If the next picture doesn’t scream Vermont, I don’t know what does!! The mountain in the background, the snow falling, and the love…….doesn’t get any better than that!!

And what doesn’t scream I love you than ending the day at the Ice Rink with hockey gear on?!

Allison & Danny- Vermont Wedding Photographer

Yesterday I found out that Allison & Danny’s wedding would be gracing the pages of Vermont Vows and when I received a preview of the pages, I was tickled pink because it brought me back to their amazing, beautifully detailed, slightly chilly, amazing day. Late last week as I was going through my blog archives, I realized that I never blogged Allison & Danny’s beautiful winter wedding at the Mountain Top Inn in Chittenden, Vermont. This was my first wedding up there and on my ride up I started to think that my GPS was guiding me in the wrong direction and I almost turned around to get directions. Thankfully I found my way and the view that I found at the top, simply took my breath away….

All of those beautiful decorations were handmade by Allison and her sister and as it happens, one day when I was shopping Etsy and searching for inspiration I stumbled across their Etsy shop where they now sell these adorable paper flowers amongst other things (check it out HERE!)

Everything about the Mountain Top Inn is beautiful and Allison and Danny selected the perfect location to spend their winter wedding with their friends and family. After hellos and whatnot, I always like to capture some details first…

Totally fierce right?!! I wore some very high heels on my wedding but I think Allison beat me height wise! The perfect amount of sparkle!

This is absolutely one of my all time faves. I just love how she’s soaking it all in.

It was slightly chilly and a little overcast, but it was perfect!

All of the girls were super brave and looked fabulous is their black dresses that they can even use again (which I always love!)

As avid snowboarders, all of the names of tables were ski resorts!

This moment totally had me choked up behind my lens. This adorable little man sang “Someone Like You” by Adelle word for word to Allison. It was just about the sweetest and cutest moment ever. He knew more words to the song than I did and now whenever this song comes up on my iPod I think of this exact moment.

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Petrus!!

Oh how I love what I do and I’m so looking forward to the busy ’12 wedding season ahead!!

Paul + Jennifer- Vermont Elopement Photographer

I still have a bunch of weddings to blog (and I’m working on Katie and Jason’s lovely day next) but I thought that I would jump ahead for a quick post with Paul and Jennifer’s Early Fall Elopement this past September. There’s nothing I love more than the fall and winter (yes I’m one of those crazy people that loves the snow!) in Vermont. It was the most beautiful weekday with a slight breeze and beautiful colors. From the moment I met them, I knew that they were over the moon for each other and their story of re-united love made me love capturing their day even more at the beautiful West Mountain Inn.

There isn’t a bad view at West Mountain Inn so any spot that is chosen to say I do is always picture perfect!

As always, the lovely Nancy Bishop provided the flowers and her stunning work always inspires me!

You already know this, but just in case you need a reminder, I love capturing elopements and weddings…….I really, really, really do!! I’ll be back next week to share Katie and Jason’s lovely August day!!

Sean + Christine- Vermont Wedding Photographer

On my way to The Hermitage, I kept my music low while I constantly said in my head “please let the rain stop for Sean and Christine” over and over again. I rarely look at the forecast until the day before because I know that I’ll stress and worry, mostly for my lovely couples that put so much work in their day and that last thing I want for them is to not have their day exactly as they had planned it. Sometimes mother nature has other things in mind though and while I wish that the weather was better, I must say that Sean and Christine were such a great a example of what cool and collected should look like. The staff at The Hermitage was beyond amazing and they quickly transformed the dining room into a site for their ceremony. Love persevers, even with millions of raindrops falling from the sky!

The guys got ready in the main house and relaxed, watched a little tv and played a little pool….

Right before the decision was made to move the ceremony indoors it had started raining cats and dogs- like a serious huge puddle making downpour. Mother nature didn’t listen to my requests!

They had planned on a first look outside before the ceremony, but The Hermitage graciously offered use of their wine cellar which had a great little spot for a few quick photos…

Don’t you just love this amazing aisle runner with all of the weddings from Christine’s family that has been used by her family members. And we all know I’m a sucker for anything handmade AND involving embroidery (my favorite craft.)

The lovely tent….

I was closely watching the radar on my phone so I knew that there would be a few brief moments for us to take portraits after some of the reception festivities started.

I loved the passion between Sean and Christine which made them very easy to capture. So in love, so happy and always willing to kiss!

So this moment kind of takes the cake! Christine’s sister was making what seemed like a long, drawn out speech when all of the sudden a bunch of people hopped out onto the dance floor and then it all clicked in my head……FLASH MOB!! I just about died from laughter and as you can see, Christine just about did the same thing but with happiness, surprise and love (because who doesn’t love a random flash mob at a wedding?!)

So right after this happened, that brief moment of no rain right before we lost all of the light happened. A quick 5 minutes…..

One of my faves from 2012. They truly adore each other.

What could have been a day with a little bit of sadness because of the weather, became a day of happiness, lots of laughter, great dancing with some fabulous music and lots and lots of great memories for everyone that was a part of their day. Thank you Sean and Christine for allowing me to be a part of your day and for reminding me that love always wins.

My sweet Lillian had her first ballet/tap dance class this week. Most days she says she wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up, but from time to time she’ll say that she wants to be a dancer that maybe sings on the side. When we arrived and I took her jacket off and put her ballet shoes on, I could tell that she was excited but she was her typical reserved self. She LOVES making new friends and can start a conversation with just about anyone within a few moments. It’s just those initial couple of minutes that I have a shy child (like myself) before the talker comes out (like her daddy.) The parents wait out in the gallery and every now and then I would see her glide by in her purple tutu. Paying attention. Soaking it all in. She loved every single minute of it and I loved being able to give her 45 minutes of pure happiness.
