Art Raffle 2015

An annual fund-raiser at The Indian River Festival, we’re pleased to show-off the 2015 edition of our Art Raffle. Featuring original art by well-known Canadian Artists, we have a limited number of tickets available (only 250!). Tickets are $30/each.

Tickets may be purchased online, at our box office (open at St. Mary’s Church daily, 12-5pm), or at any of our performances.

We’re hiring a Box Office Manager!

The Indian River Festival offers a summer long series of concerts in a magnificent heritage church set within sight of beautiful Malpeque Bay. The Festival provides audiences with the very best in classical, folk, traditional, jazz and contemporary music all in the world class acoustical setting of St. Mary’s Church, Indian River. The 2015 season runs from June 20 – September 18.

We’re seeking a seasonal, full-time Box Office Manager (post-secondary student) who is interested to pursue a career in arts and culture. The position will provide the opportunity to gain an understanding of arts, event and venue management.

Our box office is located in St. Mary’s Church, Indian River.

The Box Office Manager will:

manage all tasks related to ticket sales including processing ticket orders, responding to customer inquiries, and balancing all sales;
embrace a “salesperson” attitude
become familiar with upcoming events at the Festival including the artists and type of music to be performed;
assist with various marketing tasks including social media updates, PSAs, and weekly ENewsletters under the supervision of the Executive Director
have a friendly and professional manner, and the ability to work well with the public in a fast paced environment;
be a team player, working well among staff and volunteers, as well as working independently
work at all events/concerts between June 14 and August 30

This is a student position (post-secondary); approximately 475 hours from May 18 – August 30, $11.50/hr.

Art Raffle 2014: get your tickets while you can!

There are only 9 days left to purchase your tickets for the Indian River Festival’s annual art raffle fund-raiser. The draw will take place during the August 24th performance of Royal Wood…don’t miss a chance to win some fantastic pieces. 2013 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

We are holding our 2013 Annual General Meeting on Thursday, June 5th, 6pm at Annie’s Table. The evening begins with a social time and cash bar at 6:00 PM followed by dinner at 6:30 PM; the evening concludes with our meeting. Cost for dinner is $30 plus tax and gratuities per person.

Indian River Festival Choir Seeks Singers!

This is a special year for the Indian River Festival Choir. The festival was awarded a mid-size grant from PEI 2014 to produce a two day choral celebration. On July 5^th, there will be an evening of performances by local Island choirs and on July 6^th, the IRFC will join Jeff Joudrey and the Halifax Camerata Singers to deliver a stunning gala performance and commission by Peter Tiefenbach. Once again, IRFC conductor will be Tim Cooper!

The IRFC has a roster of wonderful singers who commit to our choral concert every year; however, we’re always looking for new singers to join our choral family! Below outlines commitment for the project – please share with any of your choral singing colleagues (particularly male singers)!

Our proposed pieces:

Selections from Liszt’s “Missa Choralis”

“Alleluia” by Randall Thompson

Haydn’s “Mass in Time of War” – IRFC and Halifax Camerata

Commission by Peter Tiefenbach – IRFC and Halifax Camerata

Rehearsals: Rehearsals will be held on Mondays, 7:00 PM to 9:00PM, at the Presbyterian Church on Victoria Street, Kensington. Rehearsals will switch to St. Mary’s once the building warms up! Dates are as follows: April 28; May 5, 12, 26; June 2, 9, 16, 23; July 4

Joint/Dress Rehearsals: IRFC and Halifax Camerata will rehearse together on July 5^th and 6^th; more details to be provided at a later date!

Music and online rehearsal links will be provided ahead of time to choristers who commit to the concert. You may confirm your participation or send questions along to Andrea Ellis by (andrea@indianriverfestival.com) by Friday, February 14^th (Valentine’s Day!).

“Home for Christmas” Sunday, Dec. 8th

Mark your calendars for Sunday, December 8th when the Friends of St. Mary’s present “Home For Christmas”, a fundraising concert in support of the ongoing restoration and maintenance of historic St. Mary’s Church, Indian River. The concert will start at 2:30pm and features Tim Archer and Friends and the popular vocal ensemble Arioso.

Oh my, how do we even begin to say thank you to everyone who gave of their time, talents and of course, all that soup for our Harvest Soupfest event yesterday? In spite of the torrential rain and wind…(believe me when I say, it CAN rain sideways!!) everyone had a wonderful time, and taking the optimist’s point of view….it was a grand day for soup!

Almost time for Harvest Soupfest!

We though you might be interested in the varieties of soup to be sampled on Sunday at our third annual Harvest Soupfest coming up this Sunday, Sept 8 from 1 -3 pm on the grounds of St. Mary’s Church.
For the price of your ticket, you can sample four different soups, which come in 4oz servings, and some amazing artisan, homemade bread. We will also have a pie table with yummy slices for sale if you feel the need for some dessert afterwards! So enjoy reading the menu and come prepared for a good old fashioned community gathering in support of the Indian River Festival.
