Trailer: Role Models

Role Models is a new comedy staring Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott. Paul Rudd is always hilarious, especially in 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and (of course) Anchorman, the Legend of Ron Burgundy (think Sex Panther, by Odion). It’s hard to tell from this preview if Role Models is going to be a raunchy comedy or more of a touchy-feely-bad-guys-go-soft-and-help-save-the-kids. It’s a funny preview, especially the red band version, posted below. The preview is mostly safe for work, except for the language, so if you’re worried about it turn down the volume.

The movie comes out on Friday, November 7th… if you’re into that sort of thing.

Uninsured in America

I should’ve just titled this post “How to make yourself really mad in just a couple of minutes,” but I thought that might be just a tad bit too long for a subject. I originally got a link to Freemarket Cure from a close friend who also happens to be a medical doctor. You’ll note that the title of the website in no way gives away their position on American healthcare. Do I detect a slight slant? Ahem. Cough. “Uninsured in America” is a video outlining some of the misconceptions about healthcare in the US. I can’t say that I’ve researched any of the statistics touted at the site or in the video, but the people in the video seem to reflect common opinions and perceptions about healthcare in America - mainly, that someone else should pay for it. It’s hard to tell if the people appearing in the video are actors or random interview subjects, but their nonchalant behavior and comments about healthcare is a little annoying. Especially, if (like me) you actually pay for your healthcare.

Check out the video and make up your own mind before heading to the polls on Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 (that is, if you’re in the United States). Enjoy (warning: the video is a little long, but worth it):

The Dark Knight: the first five minutes

Every time I see something about this movie, I get a little more excited about it. Today, I found a clip of the first five minutes of the movie, which includes a great intro to Heath Ledger’s Joker. After watching this short clip, it’s not surprising that his performance is already getting some Oscar buzz, even though the movie isn’t even out yet. Check out the clip below and remember that the movie comes out on Friday, July 11th, 2008.

The Website is Down

Anyone who works in IT and especially system administrators will like this new short flick produced by some guy named Josh Weinberg. I don’t know who that is, but this video is funny. It’s got a little bit of Windows XP, Mac and even Apache in it. The video sorta reminds me of the old Nick Burns SNL skits with Jimmy Fallon. Remember those? “Move over!”

“The Website is Down” is kinda like the Nick Burns shorts, except funnier. I promise.

My humble IT career has it’s roots in system administration, so this video has a special place in my heart. Though, for the record, I never played Halo at work… it was always Doom or Quake. Ahem… Unfortunately, I can’t embed the video, but you can check it out here:

NIN: Live Rehearsals

Nine Inch Nails just posted several videos from their rehearsals for the 2008 Lights in the Sky tour. All three of the videos (Echoplex, Letting You, and 1,000,000) are all off their latest release, which I’ve previously mentioned here. It’s free guys, so if you don’t have it, go get it. Seriously - it’s totally free.

I’ve posted the video for Echoplex below. I’d like to understand how that sequencer works. It looks like the drummer, John Freese, kinda selects a few things, iPod Touch-style, which kicks off some wicked beats. Watch the video and you’ll see what I mean. It’s cool:

If you haven’t got tickets for NIN’s upcoming tour already, stop what you’re doing and go get some. Yeah, I’ve got mine. Floor seats, in Houston on Saturday, August 16th. See ya there!

New Star Wars Trailer

Back in May, I posted the first two previews for the new animated Star Wars movie, The Clone Wars. A third preview was recently released, which shows a little more of Jabba’s son’s capture and more interaction with Count Dooku and Asajj Ventress. I’m digging the trailer, it’s just that every time I watch it, a part of me just wishes that the CGI animation was a little more detailed. Besides that small point (and by small I mean large), this movie, like the previous Cartoon Network animated series The Clone Wars, seems to do a better job than the prequels of capturing the “Star Wars” feel. Check out this latest trailer and see what you think:

The U.S. release date is Friday, August 15th, 2008, so we’ve got a little while longer to wait.

Two-Face in the The Dark Knight?

Any fan of Batman lore knows that Gotham City District Attorney Harvey Dent eventually becomes the villain, “Two-Face”, by way of a nasty chemical getting thrown into exactly half of his face, scaring part of it. If you suspected that Aaron Eckhart’s portrayal of Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight was a setup for a third sequel then you might be partially right, because from the looks of this preview clip, Two-Face makes some kind of appearance in this movie:
