The wave is back. After 16 years behind bars, Harlem rapper Max B has finally been released from prison.

On Sunday (Nov. 9), the 47-year-old who was serving time for murder conspiracy and robbery was welcomed by family and friends outside the Northern State Prison in Newark, New Jersey including associate and frequent collaborator, French Montana.

Immediately after his release, Max B celebrated his newfound freedom with his first post-prison public appearance at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium for the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets game.

“I feel righteous. I’m feeling good, I’m grateful, I’m thankful. God is good,” Max Biggaveli told The People Gallery. He continued with some advice, “Listen, man, just be yourself. Get what you can afford… And wear what you wear. If it looks good on you, own it.”

In 2009, Max B, born Charly Wingate, was convicted of 9 of the 11 counts, including felony murder, for his alleged role in orchestrating a botched robbery that turned deadly at a New Jersey hotel in 2006. He was sentenced to 75 years. The following year, Max B was granted an appeal, but was denied in 2012. His convictions were vacated in 2016 and his sentenced was reduced to 20 years after agreeing to plead guilty to aggravated manslaughter.

During Max B’s incarceration, Max B released endless music and projects including his previous studio album, Negro Spirituals in 2021.

It was another historic evening for hip-hop as OutKast was among the 2025 class of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Salt-N-Pepa was also among the acts who were honored the Musical Influence award.

On Saturday (Nov. 8), OutKast members Big Boi and Andre 3000 took to the stage at the Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater during their acceptance, which was presented by Donald Glover. Big Boi kicked off the speech thanking his partner-in-rhyme, “I wanna say, especially, to my brother right here—thank you for making me be the best I can be, and going toe to toe on the records. Iron-sharpen-iron just to be the best.” Andre 3000 added, “Great things start in little rooms. We started in a little room,” said Andre 3000, while reminiscing on the early days with his Dungeon Family, who was also on stage.

Although, the Atlanta duo did performing together, other acts joined Big Boi for an epic tribute featuring JID “ATLiens” Doja Cat (“Sorry Miss Jackson”), Tyler, The Creator (“Bombs Over Baghdad”), Janelle Monáe (“Hey Ya”), Sleepy Brown (“The Way You Move”), and Killer Mike (“The Whole World”).

Missy Elliott presented Salt-N-Pepa and their DJ Spinderella with the HOF’s Musical Influence award. “This is for every woman who picked up a mic when they told her she couldn’t,” said Cheryl “Salt” James during the group’s acceptance speech. The trio also hit the stage for a medley of their hits including “Shoop”, “Let’s Talk About Sex”, “What a Man” alongside En Vogue, and “Push It”.

Soul legend D’Angelo has died after his long battle pancreatic cancer. The Grammy-winning artist was 51.

On Tuesday (Oct. 14), his family confirmed the tragic news of the neo-soul singer’s passing in New York City earlier in the morning.

“The shining star of our family has dimmed his light for us in this life,” his family said in a statement. “After a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer, we are heartbroken to announce that Michael D’Angelo Archer, known to his fans around the world as D’Angelo, has been called home, departing this life today, October 14th, 2025.”

It continued, “We are saddened that he can only leave dear memories with his family, but we are eternally grateful for the legacy of extraordinarily moving music he leaves behind. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time but invite you all join us in mourning his passing while also celebrating the gift of song that he has left for the world.”

Born, Michael Eugene Archer on Feb. 11, 1974, in Richmond, Virginia, the helped define the neo-soul movement since the mid ’90s. He released his stellar debut album, Brown Sugar in 1995 which spawned the hits “Brown Sugar” and “Lady” among others and followed up his success in 2000 with his Voodoo album featuring “Untitled (How Does It Feel)”, which earned him Grammys. After a long-hiatus, D’Angelo returned with his 2014 album Black Messiah. D’Angelo has been recently working on his forth studio album with Raphael Saadiq, which is planned to be released posthumously.

D’Angelo is survived by his daughter and two sons, which one he shared with late soul singer Angie Stone, who passed away earlier this year. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

The post D’Angelo Passes Away at 51 first appeared on Rap Radar.

Three months after his RICO trial verdict, Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison.

On Friday (Oct. 3), Diddy was ordered 50 months by a New York City federal judge prostitution-related charges as well as a $500,000 fine, which is the maximum fine the judge could impose. The Judge Arun Subramanian’s stated that although the max of 11 years was excessive, being released with only 14 months served was not enough.

“A history of good works cannot wash away the record in this case, which showed that you abused the power and control you had over the women you professed to love dearly,” said judge Subramanian. “You abused them physically, emotionally and psychologically and you used that abuse to get your way.”

Diddy, who broke down in tears following the verdict, issued an apology to his family and victims. “My actions were disgusting, shameful and sick. I was sick,” said the 55-year-old hip hop mogul. “Sick from the drugs, I was out of control. I needed help but I didn’t get the help. Because of that I can make no excuse.”

Back in July, a 12-member jury convicted Diddy guilty of two of his five charges. He was guilty on his lesser charges of MANN act of transporting Cassie Ventura and MANN act of transporting Jane, but found not guilty on the charges of RICO and sex trafficking.

The post Diddy Sentenced To 50 Months first appeared on Rap Radar.
