David K Christopher asked:

There are many video game consoles like Xbox, Playstation, Playboy, Wii, etc in the market. These devices are considered as branded as they come from specialized corporate companies. Xbox is a product from Microsoft Corporation and Playstation is from Sony and Wii is from the Nintendo. The latest product from Microsoft is Xbox 360 which was introduced in the year 2005. This product was introduced to give a though competition to the Sony’s Playstation 2.

PROBLEMS WITH THE X CLAMP

The device is reported with large number of console failure. After serious analysis it was found that the problem is due to the overheating of the console damaging the chips in the motherboard and thus the entire motherboard gets failed. The reason for the rise in internal temperature is due to insufficient cooling arrangements within the console. Because of lack of proper design, the console is designed with minimum ventilation. Also another reason is that Microsoft is in a hurry to introduce the product to the market as the Christmas is nearing, hence winter holidays will be good time for children to buy the device.

The problem is with the X clamp of the motherboard. The X clamps are those that hold the heat sinks in a position on the motherboard. By replacing the X clamp it is found that the heat is radiated outside very well than compared with its presence. Thus suitable arrangements are made to fix the heat sinks without the use of the X clamps. Because of this it had let to the rise of the red light error particularly the “Three Red Light Error”. It is otherwise popularly known as the “Red Ring of Death” or the RRoD. When the RRoD occurs the entire motherboard gets hang and when if users continues to work on the console with this condition it may sometimes lead to serious damages to the components of the motherboard.

SOLVING METHODOLOGIES

The console’s red light problem can be solved in two ways. The first method is that you can give the console to the Microsoft service center. The other method is by repairing the device by our own. The repairing at the service center will take some considerable amount time (can even go to few months) and it is also a bit costlier. But, when your console has a valid warranty plus unmodded console, then you can go for the first option.

The simplest method and the time saving method is by repairing the console by our own. For this you need to watch some video tutorials. The videos provide complete step by step instruction on how to open the console and repair it. This method is very economical when compared with that of giving the console to the service center and wait for months and spend over $100 for the repair work. Also you don’t require any sophisticated tools to repair the console. It can be carried out with simple household devices. This is the best method for repairing modded consoles too.

Removing X Clamps is just one way of repairing your console. There are certain other ways in which your consoles can be fixed. For example, red light error occurs even due to poor connections. You can fix this by making the connections in place. Your console may also be experiencing any small problems like this which do not required much expertise and time to fix the console. These techniques are also explained well in the repair videos.

XBOX 3 Red Lights Repair

Robert Bush asked:

Dear Fellow Xbox Fan,

I wrote this article to help anybody suffering with the dreaded 3 Red Lights. This problem has plagued Xbox 360’s everywhere and there is a lot of debate on how to fix this.

This article will show you how to fix this problem step by step so you can be playing your favorite games in the next hour or two. Some of the methods involve disassembling your Xbox and if you follow the instructions in this article you should be fine, however if you are unsure about anything please ask before you go ahead, as I will not be held responsible for any damage you do to your system.

Before You Begin!

This method does involve opening up the console to work so if you are going to do this please bear in mind I take no responsibility for damage to your console!

If you follow the steps below you will be fine and it is a good idea to keep all the screws and components for each part together so you can reassemble it quicker. For instance keep the screws for one part all grouped together and you should be fine!

Step 1: Get Tooled Up!

There are a couple of tools you will need before you get started and the good news is they can all be found around your house or at the local hardware store. Below I have listed the tools you need and where you can find them:

1 Rubber Eraser

1 Very Small Probe Or A Very Small Screwdriver

1 Double Face Tape (sticky on both sides)

1 T8 Screwdriver (to remove internal Xbox 360 screws)

1 T10 Screwdriver (to remove Xbox 360 internal chassis from case)

As mentioned above you can find the above items in any hardware store. If you have any problems finding the right screwdriver then just get a Torx Screwdriver Set but make sure it has a T8 and T10 in the set!

You can find them at Amazon.com and Ebay as well for a few dollars or get them from your hardware store! Once you have the above you are ready to get started!

Step 2: Disassembling The 360

***WARNING: This is a genuine fix but does involve taking your Xbox apart to work if you are not willing to do this see Step 6 for “The Towel Trick” that does not involve taking the 360 apart! Sometimes the Towel Trick does not last for ever and eventually you will have to do this fix although I have heard people say that the Towel Trick is still working after a year!***

Right let us begin:

1. First, place the Xbox upside down on your lap, insert your index and middle finger into the memory slot holes, place your thumbs on the bottom of the Xbox (for leverage), and pull the face plate off with a steady force. It should just snap right off.

2. Next, break the Microsoft seal (you will void your warranty at this point if you have one!)

3. Now, flip the Xbox on its side and take a close look at the holes located on the top and bottom of each side. If you look closely, you can see that some of the holes are filled in. Why would this be? Well, it is because the filled-in holes are keeping the grey plastic pieces on the top and bottom of the Xbox snuggly in place.

4. To remove the top and bottom grey pieces, you will need a small pointed object

5. Locate a grey plastic tab by peering into the holes, then use the probe to carefully push down and lever out the grey top/bottom cover

Both pieces have three tabs/clips per side, with a total of six per piece. To remove the top grey piece, you will have to remove the rubber pad. This is the only rubber pad you will have to remove.

6. With the grey pieces removed, take a close look at the back side of the Xbox. On the right and left side there are small notches that will require closer inspection. You again will need a small ***** driver or narrow probe.

7.Using the probe, start on the left side (near power plug socket) and push the catch a bit into the Xbox until it clicks, then use a ***** driver to keep the two sides apart

Once the left side is done, start on the right side and do the same thing to the rest of the catches. This is probably the trickiest part of the whole process, so take your time.

8.Once they are all separated, the bottom of the Xbox will lift away. At this point slide it around to the front side and undo the four catches, keeping the case together

9. At this point you will need to grab your Torx driver set. I used a T10 and T8 for this part of the disassembly process.

10. Unscrew the six T10 black screws, then use the T10 to unscrew all the silver screws. Finally, unscrew the black screws with your T8 driver

11. Carefully flip the Xbox back over.

12. Remove the DVD button arm assembly to keep it out of your way. You just need to pry it off the black plastic guide.

13.Next, remove the top cover, watching the DVD button latch!

14. Disconnect the SATA connector and power connector from the DVD drive and lift it out of the case.

15. To remove the white plastic air guide, locate the notch on the top outward side, insert your probe/small ***** driver, and leverage the air guide out. It should lift straight out very smoothly.

Next, disconnect the power for the cooling fans. Now, use your probe/screw driver to pry the fan catches out from the metal guard, This will allow you to remove the fan device from the Xbox case.

Next, look at the front of the Xbox on the RF module, and remove the white plastic power button. It is held in place by a clip on the top and bottom.

16. Now, remove the three screws from the front circuit board (RF module).

17. Once the screws are removed, you will be able to slide the front circuit board off the Xbox with a slight pull. Notice that it is connected on the lower left side. You should now be able to pull the entire circuit board right out of the case with relative ease. Be careful not to touch any exposed circuits.

18. The next step is to carefully lift the motherboard out of the Xbox case.

Step 3: The Fix

You now have your Xbox in pieces but are ready to do the fix (it is very easy!) All you need to do is remove the weird Soft Stuff on the memory chips, if you don’t have this on yours that is fine! Be careful removing the soft stuff and don’t scrape it with a knife just try rubbing it off this is how I did it! Now all you need to do is stick the double sided tape to the four points on the Xbox. Then get your eraser and cut it into 4 squares of 0,4cm (4 millimeters) in height. Cut it a bit larger than the chips 1mm each side and stick it to the four points. All you have to do now is reassemble your Xbox 360!

Step 4: Reassembling The 360

All you do to put the Xbox 360 back together again is follow the steps above in reverse order!

Here are the steps in reverse order:

1. Place heat sinks back on processors.

2. Insert circuit board back into case.

3.Reinsert the fans, ensuring to plug in the fans’ power connection.

4.Insert the RF Module/front circuit board.

5. ***** in front three black screws.

6. Attach white plastic covering over power button on RF module board, paying attention to the direction arrows on the piece.

7. Flip Xbox over and insert all small screws. Start in center with small black screws, work out to small silver screws.

8. Install white airflow guide.

9. Connect and install the DVD drive, making sure support holes line up on circuit board and paying care to not break the DVD drive eject button assembly.

10. Place top on Xbox, flip it over, and insert the long black screws.

11. Install the DVD drive button assembly.

12. Place the bottom on the Xbox and snap it in to place.

13. Next put the grey side pieces back where they belong.

14. Finally, reattach the front faceplate.

15. All done… now test! And yes, mine does work with it back together again (and I took it apart about five times in under an hour)!

Step 5: Switching It On!

All you have to do once you have reassembled your Xbox 360!

YOU WILL STILL HAVE 3 RED LIGHTS AT THIS POINT! DON’T WORRY!

Leave your console on for 20 minutes with the three red lights!

Then turn it off and wait 2 Minutes!

Turn it back on and you should have green lights again!

Well Done! You Just Fixed An Xbox 360!

Remember as well that you can use this article to make $$$’s by fixing other broken Xbox 360’s by buying them cheap and then selling them on eBay!Or even set up your own repair service!

XBOX 3 Red Lights Repair

Charlie Cory asked:

Any games console is prone to error. What makes it worse with the Xbox is that it is so good and it’s users miss it so much more! The Xbox 360 is prone to what is affectionately known as the red ring of death (or rrod), which is when three red lights show up in conjunction with it stopping working.

There are times on your console when the colours on the power supply change from green to orange or from orange to red. There are several reasons why your Xbox may show these red lights, but in all cases, they appear when the external power supply has discovered a fault, and has shut down to protect your Xbox.

The power supply conducts several checks to help prevent irreparable damage to your Xbox. Part of these checks are to verify that the electricity coming in will not cause problems, such as correct voltage and current. The other main area is the check it does on temperature to ensure that your Xbox does not overheat.

So are there any steps that you can take to resolve any of these problems?

The biggest and probably commonest issue, is that of overheating. You can check easily enough if the power supply is cool or not. If it is hotter than it should be, you should turn it off and let it cool down naturally. Whilst this is happening, you should consider the location of the Xbox. Is it in direct sunlight or near a source of heat, which might make the problem worse? Is the area where the console is kept well ventilated? If either of these scenarios raises a red flag, then you can take steps to correct them yourself. You might find that removing external heat sources or improving air supply will be sufficient for the better operation of your console.

Some other Xbox 360 three red light repair methods involve checking the cables and power supply themselves. If you have a friend with an Xbox, then you are pretty much good to go. Just borrow their power supply and cables and try them on your Xbox. If it works properly, you may well have found the cause of your problems.

If none of these techniques make a difference, then don’t despair. An expensive trip to the Xbox engineers is not the only solution to your problems. There are a number of Xbox 360 repair guides on the market. Find a review of them and choose one that best suits your needs.
Thomas K asked:

Many an Xbox owner, at some time or another, turns on their Xbox and finds they are presented with what has become known as the “red ring of death”. As luck would have it, this usually seems to occur after the warranty period – known as RROD – has expired. This is where the 3 Red Light Fix comes in.

1. What is the Red Ring of Death?

This is when you turn on your Xbox and, in the power circle three red lights appear in the upper left quadrant and the bottom two quadrants. When this occurs it means your Xbox has experienced a power failure. I would check whether the connections to your Xbox have become disconnected or whether your Xbox has simply overheated from too much activity! If neither of these two are the problem then your Xbox has probably failed due to hardware failure – this is where the 3 Red Light Fix comes to the fore.

2. How Do You Fix It?

For those in the know, you could open up your Xbox and repair it yourself. Or you could get hold of a copy of the 3 Red Light Fix to help you repair your Xbox. The best thing about the guide, apart from showing you how to fix your Xbox by yourself, is that they are offering you a complete and total refund if you are not completely satisfied. So, if your Xbox is subject to overheating consoles, freezing, showing the ubiquitous three red lights, two red lights, or whether you are experiencing graphic anomalies or your Xbox is showing an E74 error, the guide will show you, in step-by-step instructions exactly what to do to fix them. In fact, the instructions are so straightforward and easy to understand, you are likely to have your beloved Xbox back in running order within the hour.

3. Summary.

The instructions shown in the 3 Red Light Fix Guide really are easy to understand and the Guide does deliver what it says it will – i.e. showing you how to get your Xbox up and running. However, you need to have the confidence yourself to follow the instructions and be able to understand what the instructions are telling you to do. Basically, the Guide is in PDF format and the explanatory pictures are somewhat fuzzy.

Even if you have no technical knowledge the guide provides you with sufficient information to be able to fix the problems with your Xbox. To compensate for the rather fuzzy pictures in the PDF guide there is a series of videos in the members’ area you can follow and these certainly help to clarify certain points. The 3 Red Light Fix really is as good as it claims to be: it helps you fix your Xbox, and that’s all that matters.

XBOX 3 Red Lights Repair

James Philipson asked:

There are countless numbers of Xbox 360 repair guides available on the Internet. Many competing products offer essentially the same content; the only real differences come in the name and the price. In this honest review of “Xbox 360 3 Red Light Fix; Pro Gamer Edition”, you are going to learn whether this particular repair guide is any better than the others on the market.

The “Xbox 360 3 Red Light Fix; Pro Gamer Edition” makes the claim that you will be able to fix your Xbox 360 in under two hours. Seeing as this is the main sales point of the product, this claim was the first thing that would have to be investigated. Luckily, there was a broken Xbox 360 with the red ring of death lying out in the garage, so this became the test victim. Using the videos and audio files provided with the “Xbox 360 3 Red Light Fix; Pro Gamer Edition” package, I attempted to carry out the repair method. One thing I noticed was that the method outlined in this repair guide seemed to be easier to carry out than ones in other repair guides. The videos were also of higher quality than most other products I have used. Using tools that I found around the house, and watching the video files more than once, it took me exactly one hour and twenty-three minutes to fix my broken Xbox 360. I was suitably impressed.

However, seeing as nothing’s perfect, here’s a round up of the less impressive features of “Xbox 360 3 Red Light Fix; Pro Gamer Edition” -

1. The price of this guide is slightly more expensive than its closest rivals at $29 USD.

2. The purchase and information page is quite cluttered and distracting.

3. An automated pop up appears if you exit the page without buying. However, it is well worth reading through the message that appears as it has a special offer and interesting information.

Here’s what else I did like about “Xbox 360 3 Red Light Fix; Pro Gamer Edition”-

1. The repair method outlined is effective and easy to follow.

2. All the claims that were made on the purchase page were actually true in my case.

3. Customer support is excellent.

4. There is a 60-day money back guarantee.

5. I got to play my Xbox 360 again!

Overall, “Xbox 360 3 Red Light Fix; Pro Gamer Edition” is the most comprehensive Xbox 360 repair guide that I have come across. The method works, and I highly recommend it to anybody looking to fix a broken Xbox 360 and remove the red ring of death.

XBOX 3 Red Lights Repair

Ashish K Arora asked:

The Xbox 360 is a very fun video game console. It came out almost a year earlier than its competitors, the Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. It has a wide range of video games, from role playing games, to shooting games, to racing games, to fighting games.

Unfortunately, from time to time, it has some hardware problems, the most common being 3 of the 4 lights around the power button going from green to red. They also start flashing. This is a very common problem. So common that it has been dubbed by the gaming community as the red ring of death.

This means that there’s a hardware problem with your console. It usually results from overheating, but it can be caused for several reasons, including misuse, dirt, or too much use.

You normally have to send it to Microsoft for an Xbox 360 repair 3 red lights procedure. It’s a process that takes several weeks and it might not be available where you live.

You might think that the people at Microsoft do some obscure complicated process to perform an Xbox 360 repair 3 red lights process. You might also think it takes a great deal of knowledge, but in reality, it doesn’t. In fact, it’s simple enough that you could do it yourself if you knew how to.

Your Xbox 360 spends most of those 3-4 weeks in transit or resting on a shelf in some warehouse, waiting for an Xbox 360 repair 3 red lights authorization, or a free technician. The actual repair process only takes an hour or two. Really, there’s no point in sending your console and wait for some executive to give an Xbox repair 3 red lights approval so that a technician can work on your console, when you could do the whole process in your house.

If you want to get your Xbox 360 up and running again in a couple of hours, instead of several weeks, then you must check out some DIY (Do It Yourself) Guides.

XBOX 3 Red Lights Repair

Michael Emmons asked:

The Xbox 360 Repair Kit claims to be the number one guide on how to fix the three red light problem, or the infamous “three red light ring of death” error for your Xbox 360. Throughout this review I will give my insights as to why I believe this is the best guide out there and maybe help you make your decision on whether or not it is the right guide for you and your situation.

You may be thinking “Well how do I know if my Xbox 360 is actually broken or not?”. Most of these problems are due to overheating systems or the dvd player has gone bad. Here are a few tips on discovering if your system is broken.

1. If you look at the Power Button on your console and there are 3 flashing or blinking red lights around the Xbox symbol that means you have the red light error. This cause is mainly due to overheating of the console.

2. If you were in the middle of playing a game and all of a sudden your system shuts off and won’t turn back on you have an overheating problem.

3. If you start up your system and it makes a clicking sound your dvd player has gone bad and it will need to be replaced. You can find new dvd players on ebay for under $30 and they’re a quick and easy fix.

Now to let you know there are some systems that are unfixable even with the three red light error. I have come to find out from my own personal trial an error that about 94% of all system new and old are fixable. So if you buy a guide and use the techniques they tell you to use and it won’t work that isn’t a flag that you’ve been scammed. It just means that your Xbox is trashed and there’s no helping it.

With this repair kit if gives many, many helpful tips and step-by-step instructions on how to fix your Xbox system. With the guide you receive step-by-step instructions, pictures to help walk you through the process, a video guide, and 24/7 email tech support. Also a FREE guide to set-up a firmware hack on your console. You may have seen these hacks on some sites. Most of them won’t allow you to open Xbox LIVE while their active or will eventually corrupt your system. The hack that comes with this guide is completely safe and allows you to log into Xbox LIVE while its active.

In conclusion to my Xbox 360 Repair Kit Review I would give this guide a five out of five for quality, support, and overall knowledge in this area. If you would like to see more information about the product go to the link below.

How To Repair the XBox 360 3 Red Lights Error

Sean Strickler asked:

Ok, everybody says their Xbox 360 repair guide is the best. But before you plunk down $24.95 or whatever the “daily special” price is, how do you know its going to provide you all the information you need. Well, here is a guide to the guides comparing the features as listed in their advertisements.

Guide #1 – 3 Red Light Fix Repair Guide Features

Provides step by step instructions that will help you fix your RROD in less than 1 hour Complete refund if your not satisfied, no questions asked Step by step online videos Author claims to have repaired thousands of Xbox 360 personally Repair guide covers – overheating consoles, graphic errors, freeze ups and much more (not exactly sure what that means…but cool…ok…more is better) PDF Guide with pictures Access to membership area Free online support Instant delivery Price $24.95

Guide #2 – Xbox 360 3 Red Lights Fix by Chris Jones Features

Claims to be a complete Video Guide…simple….step by step Guarantees to permanently get rid of the 3 red light error in 56 minutes (not sure how it can guarantee the 56 minute part but ok…I will take the bet…If it takes me longer I get my money back?) Full money back guarantee Claims to have helped thousands of gamers fix their Xbox’s Guide claims to cover other errors including graphic errors, game freeze ups, one red light error and even your games not playing when you put a disc in! Step by step instructions with complete full color pictures to go along with the videos Uses common household items for the fix No need to take apart the Xbox…(says it isn’t the towel trick) Permanent fix…never worry about it happening again (is this part of the guarantee?) Full online support….in case you have a question Claims to be the best selling guide on Clickbank…(not sure what that proves) Videos designed by a PRO…(this one kinda makes me smile…don’t know why) Price $23.99

Guide #3 – Xbox 360 Red Light Fix Pro Gamer Edition – Features

Easily fix your Xbox 360 within the “next” 2 hours guaranteed Money back no questions asked guarantee Developed by “Tech Pros”…(not really sure what that means) Uses common tools found around the house Not the towel trick Not the solder method fix Detailed video tutorials Real human customer support Instant access to guide and videos Platinum Bonus Features…(order today….I bet they will be there tomorrow too) Will make recommendations based upon photos of your xbox 360 (I like) Upgrade from Standard HD to 720P High Definition video tutorials No geek speak guarantee….if you can’t understand they will give you your money back (I thought that was guaranteed anyway?) Price $29.99 (slashed from $39.99…LOL)

So out of the three which would I recommend….wow….that is hard. They all offer money back guarantees (these are real because they are all offered through ClickBank…so that’s a plus for all three. And the refunds for each one seem to guarantee my satisfaction or money back, again a plus for all three. #2 guarantees I can fix it in 56 minutes or my money back, which seems like a silly guarantee since it probably depends upon how fast I am. #3 guarantees I can fix it in 2 hours, probably more my pace and realistic. All seem to indicate online and or customer support of some kind. I like access to a membership area, that way I can talk to other people who are going through what I am going through (kind of like an Xbox 360’s anonymous). So if you put a gun to my head and made me chose….Here are my picks 1 through 3.

Guide #1 – First place – It has a little more of a professional feel, pdf guide with videos, online support…etc.

Guide #2 – Second place – I don’t like the 56 minute guarantee, it doesn’t open up the Xbox 360 and doesn’t use the towel trick…what is it magic?

Guide #3 – Third place – a little too gimmicky, free upgrade to Platinum membership…please

So there you have an honest opinion of three Xbox 360 repair guides. You can feel safe to pick any because Clickbank will make sure you get a refund. So really your could pick any one until you find one that really works.

xBox 360 3 Red lights Repair Reviews
