Phil Spencer has just announced Xbox’s participation at E3 2020. The announcement is momentous and important because this underlines the relevance of Xbox over PlayStation. Sony declined to participate for the second year consecutively. Spencer further clarified that participation is propelled by the intersection of creativity and technical progress. The way we would interpret this is, Xbox will not only come up with newer hardware but also fresh game titles. 

Why Xbox’s Participation at E3 2020 is important and momentous

E3 2020 is one of the most important events in the world of video games. As a result, the biggest players attend this expo every year. The event brings together some of the most important names in the video game industry. Participants consider this event to be the best platform to launch their products, introduce their technologies, and engage in brand alignment.  

ETA 2020 will take place between the 9th of June and the 11th. It will be held at the Los Angeles convention center. ETA 2020 will be open to video game publishers, hardware manufacturers, and other entities involved in this area. It’s been four days since Fortnite released the v11.20 Patch. Players have discovered several new changes to the game that are worthy of mentioning. The new patch comes with a secret campfire, attractive new skins and stellar guns. The Fortnite Patch v11.20 also includes an in-game event. Many of the changes to the game have not been announced, and players seem to be discovering the changes on their own. It is important to note that Epic Games no longer releases patch notes since they released Chapter 2 – Season 1.

Here are some of the changes that the new Fortnite Patch v11.20 brings with it

• Players can stoke campfires easily. This means, a dying a fire can be reignited by added more wood. This comes at a small price though. It is not clear why Epic Games did not announce a major change such as this in its release notes. Teams will be extra-cautious to know where the spawn locations are.
• Lucas7Yoshi has revealed all the leaked cosmetics, including their names. Epic still has not released many of these cosmetics, and they are not available for decryptions. There are also indications that there will be a Christmas-like event within the game, as many of these items have a Noel feel to them.
• Scoped and Heavy Assault Rifles both seem improved and revamped. HYPEX released many details about the guns on Twitter. The data miner posted elaborate details about the size of the magazine, damage per shot, etc.
• There may be an in-game event which will occur at Risky Reels. HYPEX and Lucas7Yoshi both confirmed the existence of such an event via their data mining efforts.

Should Epic Games release detailed patch release notes?

pic Games would do better to include elaborate details about what the patches contain. Many of the features often go unnoticed by players, and one cannot continue to wait for data miners to release these details. However, this may also be a marketing stunt in order to get more people to notice the intricacies of patches. However, publicly, epic Games has confirmed that the new patches contain important bug fixes, elimination of vulnerabilities, and better UI contrast. This comes as bad news for Xbox users who have requested Shenmue II to be included in the list of Xbox titles. Now, it is confirmed that Shenmue III development will not result in the game arriving on Xbox devices.

While that may be hard to digest for most people who were looking forward to this game on Xbox, it still is worth learning about the new game. Shenmue III revolves around Ryo Hazhuki’s mission to discover his father’s murderers in the 1980s’ China. This action-adventure game is perfect for those who are into martial artists and the general aesthetics of Chinese culture. Shenmue is listed in many sources as one of the greatest video games of all time.

Development bottlenecks delayed Shenmue III development

The demand for Shenmue III was so high that Suzuki was able to raise $2 million in just seven hours. The campaign ended when it raised $6 million for the development of the game. As a result, Shenmue III is the 6th highest-funded campaign in the history of Kickstarter.

Shenmue III took more than a decade to develop and most people were losing hope that it will ever arrive even on PlayStation 4 and Windows. Only 10 people worked on the development of this game. It should be noted that Sega got together a team of more than 300 people to work on the original Shenmue game. Fast forward to 2019, most of the duties were outsourced to external agencies. In fact, external agencies bagged close to 100 art and quality assurance roles. This may call one to question how authentic a game will truly be if everything is outsourced to external agencies.

Xbox users will not get to play Shenmue III

Initially, all games were produced in-house from start to finish. The growing trend of outsourcing various game development projects may urge one to wonder if newer titles will be released quickly. Unfortunately, even that does not seem to be happening.

Meanwhile, Xbox users still have the option of using Windows computers to play this game. If they use a MacBook and do not have either a PS4 or a Windows computer, then they will not be able to try Shenmue III.
