The world’s premier international action sports competition, X Games, returns to Chiba on July 4–5, 2026, bringing together the globe’s top athletes in Skateboard, BMX, and Moto X at Makuhari Messe.

With more than 30 years of history, X Games continues to push the boundaries of action sports while shaping global culture across sports, music, fashion, and community. This year marks a major evolution for the brand with the introduction of the MoonPay X Games League (XGL)—a new, year-round, team-based professional competition.

“Japan has become one of the most important stages in the world for action sports, driven by a generation of athletes who are dominating across both Winter and Summer X Games disciplines,” said Jeremy Bloom, CEO of X Games. “With the introduction of the MoonPay X Games League, we’re building a season-long platform that matches their level — showcasing the world’s best talent, deepening fan connection, and continuing to push the culture forward.”

A New Format: The Launch of MoonPay X Games League (XGL)

Debuting in 2026, MoonPay XGL introduces a team-based format alongside traditional individual medal events. Four mixed-gender “X Games Clubs”—each composed of elite Skateboard and BMX athletes—will compete across three global stops (Sacramento, Chiba, and New Orleans) for the season-long championship.

The clubs represent four major global cities:

XC Los Angeles @xgames_losangeles

XC New York @xgames_newyork

XC São Paulo @xgames_saopaulo

XC Tokyo @xgames_tokyo

Each club consists of 10 athletes (five men and five women), creating a diverse and international roster. Fans can now follow their favorite X Games Clubs throughout the season, introducing a new way to engage with action sports.

More Than a Competition

MoonPay X Games Chiba 2026 will feature 15 events across three disciplines—Skateboard, BMX, and Moto X—over two days of competition.

Beyond the field of play, the event delivers a full festival experience, including:

Live music performances

Food and beverage experiences

Streetwear and action sports retail

Interactive fan zones

Note: July 3 (Fri) is an official practice day and is not open to the public.

Historic event at Cosm Los Angeles brought together more than 50 athletes and 500 industry leaders, partners and fans to witness teenage phenom skater Chloe Covell take the first draft pick at the inaugural MoonPay X Games League Draft

History was made tonight at Cosm Los Angeles as the inaugural 2026 MoonPay X Games League (XGL) Draft brought together the world’s best skateboard and BMX athletes and more than 500 guests to witness the first X Games draft, marking a new era in action sports.

With a limited number of ticketed guests inside the immersive venue, the excitement kicked off as XC New York General Manager Steve Rodriguez selected sixteen-year-old Australian skateboard phenom Chloe Covell as the number one draft pick, XC Los Angeles General manager Sharalee “Haze” Hazen followed by choosing 17-time X Games skateboard medalist and Southern California native Tom Schaar. XC Tokyo General Manager Harumi Suzuki then selected record-setting, eight-time X Games gold medalist skateboarder Arisa Trew of Australia. Rounding out the first round, XC São Paulo General Manager Bob Burnquist chose Brazilian skater Gui Khury, the most medaled teenager in X Games history, with 15, and counting–officially forming the foundation of the four inaugural X Games Clubs.

When asked about what it was like to be the first athlete drafted to the MoonPay X Games League, Covell responded, “I’m like…loss of words. I’m so excited. I was really nervous, but I’m super grateful. I definitely didn’t think this was going to happen, but it’s amazing. It definitely shows all of the hard work I put in. I’m looking forward to having fun with my team and doing my best.”

The draft streamed live worldwide across the ESPN App in the United States and globally on The Roku Sports Channel, YouTube, Kick, and the X Games TV FAST Channel on Amazon, giving fans around the world a front-row seat as teams were built in real time.

Held inside state-of-the-art Cosm Los Angeles, the event blended sports, entertainment and culture in a setting designed to bring fans closer to the action than ever before. The venue’s massive wraparound LED dome and cinematic production created a one-of-a-kind stage as the league’s four clubs assembled their rosters live in front of the crowd.

“This is a defining moment for action sports,” said Jeremy Bloom. “For three decades, X Games has celebrated the world’s best athletes through iconic competitions. Tonight, we’ve taken the next step—creating teams, building rivalries, and launching a league that will connect fans with these athletes year-round. Seeing the energy inside Cosm tonight showed exactly why the MoonPay X Games League is going to change the game.”

The MoonPay X Games League introduces a new chapter for the iconic brand with a year-round, global, team-based format that expands beyond traditional standalone X Games events. Each X Games Club will feature 10 athletes — five men and five women — selected through the draft to compete together across the inaugural season.

The four clubs representing global cities that will anchor the league’s debut season are:

XC Los Angeles

XC New York

XC São Paulo

XC Tokyo

During the draft, the four club general managers — Sharalee “Haze” Hazen (XC Los Angeles), Steve Rodriguez (XC New York), Bob Burnquist (XC São Paulo), and Harumi Suzuki (XC Tokyo) — selected 40 athletes representing eight different countries, ages 11-35, from a pool of more than 180 who opted into the draft, completing five rounds of selections and forming the inaugural team rosters. Athletes across skateboarding and BMX disciplines participated in the historic moment, including global stars such as Tom Schaar, Hannah Roberts, Arisa Trew, Kevin Peraza, and Nyjah Huston.

The draft was presented by league title partner MoonPay, with additional support from league founding partner Monster Energy and league partners Stake, Exodus, 805 Beer, High Noon, and Kraken Rum.

As part of the draft-night experience, league partner Exodus introduced a first-of-its-kind activation bringing crypto signing bonuses to action sports. Drafted athletes received signing bonuses delivered through Exodus’ self-custody crypto wallet platform, marking one of the first integrations of digital asset compensation into a professional sports league draft. The activation highlighted how the MoonPay X Games League is blending sport, technology, and culture while expanding earning opportunities for athletes in the new team-based format.

Following the draft, athletes, partners, and guests celebrated on the rooftop of Cosm overlooking Hollywood Park, where Grammy-winning producer BNYX delivered a surprise performance that capped off the monumental evening.

The inaugural MoonPay XGL Summer Draft will award 40 athletes signing bonuses in Exodus’ new XO Cash stablecoin

MoonPay, Title Partner of the newly formed MoonPay X Games League (XGL), and Exodus Movement, Inc. (NYSE American: EXOD) (“Exodus”) today announced that athletes selected in the X Games inaugural Summer Draft will receive signing bonuses paid in XO Cash ($XO), Exodus’ new USD-backed stablecoin.

40 drafted athletes will each receive $2,500 in XO Cash ($XO) instantly deposited into their Exodus Wallets, in one of the earliest instances of professional athletes being awarded signing bonuses in stablecoins.

XO Cash is a fully reserved, USD-backed stablecoin issued and managed by MoonPay and built on M0’s open stablecoin infrastructure. The stablecoin will also serve as a liquidity layer for Exodus Pay, a self-custodial payments platform set to launch in Q2 which will allow users the ability to make instant payments, spend with a card, earn rewards, and access everyday money tools.

In addition to their signing bonuses, athletes will receive a custom MoonPay XGL Exodus Card connected directly to their Exodus accounts, giving them immediate access to their funds to spend anywhere in the world.

“We’re giving athletes greater flexibility in how they receive and manage their money,” said JP Richardson, CEO and Co-Founder of Exodus. “Athletes have global careers and they need payments that work across borders just like they do. By awarding signing bonuses in a form athletes can receive instantly and hold in their own wallets, we’re creating a modern approach to compensation built for speed and ownership from day one.”

The MoonPay X Games League is a new chapter for action sports, transforming the X Games from standalone competitions into a global, co-ed, team-based league featuring athlete salaries, benefits, and season-long competition. The Summer Draft introduces structured compensation and expanded financial opportunities as part of that evolution.

“We partnered with the X Games because they’re doing to sports what crypto is doing to finance: challenging legacy systems and building something entirely new,” said Ivan Soto-Wright, CEO and Founder of MoonPay. “The future of money is crypto. It’s only natural that one of the most forward-thinking leagues in the world is embracing digital assets as part of how athletes are rewarded.”

The initiative highlights the growing convergence of digital assets and athlete compensation. Earlier this year at the X Games Aspen, MoonPay matched Mark McMorris’ Men’s Slopestyle gold medal winnings in crypto, making him the first X Games athlete to receive prize money in digital assets. The Summer Draft initiative builds on that effort and extends MoonPay’s commitment to modernizing athlete compensation.

The inaugural MoonPay X Games League Summer Draft will take place today, March 12, 2026.

Historic coed action sports draft streams worldwide Thursday, March 12 on the ESPN App, Roku Sports Channel, YouTube, Kick, and Amazon FAST

Fifty of the world’s best action sports athletes will gather in Los Angeles this Thursday night for a historic moment as X Games hosts the first professional team draft in action sports history. The 2026 MoonPay X Games League (XGL) Draft will stream live from Cosm Los Angeles in Hollywood Park from 6:30–8:30 p.m. PT as teams are formed live and 40 of the world’s top athletes are selected to compete in the inaugural MoonPay X Games League season.

The MoonPay X Games League Draft will stream on the ESPN App in the U.S. and globally on The Roku Sports Channel, X Games on YouTube, Kick.com, and the X Games TV FAST Channel on Amazon, giving fans everywhere a front-row seat as the next era of action sports takes shape in real time.

The MoonPay X Games League introduces a new chapter for the iconic brand with a year-round, global, team-based format that expands beyond traditional standalone X Games events. The league launches its inaugural summer 2026 season in June, with winter disciplines set to debut in 2027. Each X Games Club (XC) will feature 10 athletes — five men and five women — selected through the draft.

The first four clubs represent global cities that will anchor the league’s inaugural season: XC Los Angeles, XC New York, XC São Paulo andXC Tokyo. These teams will compete across three summer events, bringing rivalries, fan engagement, and team identity to action sports for the first time.

During Thursday’s draft, the four club general managers — Sharalee “Haze” Hazen (XC Los Angeles), Steve Rodriguez (XC New York), Bob Burnquist (XC São Paulo), and Harumi Suzuki (XC Tokyo) — will select 40 athletes from a pool of 180 who opted in across five rounds of eight selections. The draft order, determined earlier this month through a randomized lottery with the general managers present, is set as: XC New York, XC Los Angeles, XC Tokyo, and XC São Paulo.

The most decorated street skateboarder of all time and moonpay x games league founder athlete joins moonpay to usher in a new era of action sports

MoonPay, the global leader in crypto payments and Title Partner of the MoonPay X Games League (XGL), today announced Nyjah Huston as its official Team Ambassador for the inaugural MoonPay XGL Summer Season. The announcement builds on MoonPay’s three-year, category-exclusive title partnership with X Games, the first league title partnership in X Games history.

Announced in January 2026, the newly formed MoonPay X Games League establishes a permanent, team-based competition structure for both winter and summer action sports athletes competing in various skateboarding, BMX, snowboarding, and freeskiing disciplines. This new approach to competition will bolster athletes’ salaries and benefits, offer new opportunities for team ownership, and create season-long narratives that build authentic rivalries.

“In street skating, if you’re not pushing the boundaries, you’re falling behind. It’s all about progression. I look at crypto the same way – it’s the future, and it’s moving fast. MoonPay is leading the way with this transformation, and I’m excited to join them as Team Ambassador,” said Nyjah Huston, MoonPay XGL Founder Athlete and MoonPay Team Ambassador.

Widely regarded as the greatest Skateboard Street competitor of all time, Huston enters his 20th year at X Games with 15 gold medals overall, a 2024 Olympic bronze medal, and the record for most Skateboard gold medals. As a MoonPay XGL Founder Athlete, he has contributed directly to league development, helping shape competition formats, the athlete experience, and the fan-first culture of the MoonPay XGL.

“Builders recognize builders. Nyjah has spent his whole career doing what people said couldn’t be done. So have we. The MoonPay X Games League is what happens when you put those two things together. And we’re just getting started,” said Ivan Soto-Wright, CEO and Founder of MoonPay.

As part of the partnership, Huston will make personal appearances at MoonPay XGL events in Sacramento, Japan, and New Orleans, and he will represent the brand across media interviews and social content throughout the Summer Season.

The MoonPay XGL Summer Season kicks off June 26, 2026, in Sacramento, California, featuring four clubs: XC Los Angeles, XC New York, XC São Paulo, and XC Tokyo.
NEW Partnership Promotes recognition for high school action sports athletes nationwide

X Games, the world’s leading action sports brand, and Positive Athlete, a national recognition and development platform for high school student-athletes, today announced a landmark strategic alliance designed to elevate high school action sports athletes through year-round student athlete recognition, powerful storytelling, and long-term development resources.

Where high school recognition systems have historically centered around traditional in-school athletics, this alliance between X Games and Positive Athlete will strategically amplify that pathway within the action sports community, ensuring that more athletes in skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding, BMX, Moto X, and other disciplines are nominated and recognized for the same qualities celebrated across athletics nationwide: leadership, character, service, discipline, teamwork, and mental fortitude.

“Positive Athlete recognizes students for who they are, not just how they perform,” said Matt Amerlan, Director of Workforce Development at Positive Athlete. “Action sports athletes are incredible. These kids are developing the same powerful traits that sport builds everywhere, and they deserve support and resources that help them grow into what’s next.”

“I know firsthand what it takes to be a student-athlete,” said Olympian, and former NFL player, Jeremy Bloom, CEO of X Games. “What’s been missing is recognition. The same discipline, mental toughness, and leadership we celebrate in traditional school sports are being built every day on the slopes and in skateparks. This alliance with Positive Athlete finally gives high school action sports athletes the national spotlight and pathway they deserve—on and off the field.”

Through Positive Athlete, nominated student athletes not only unlock the chance to win awards and scholarships, they gain lifetime access to the Positive Athlete app, which includes leadership certifications, character development resources, profile tools, resume building, education and career exploration opportunities, and more.

Alliance Focus Areas

Establishing a National Spotlight: Elevating high school action sports athletes through unprecedented visibility and recognition.

Culture & Value Amplification: Amplifying the stories, core values, and unique culture that shape action sports communities.

Direct Pathway Creation: Creating clearer, more streamlined nomination pathways so more action sports athletes are seen and celebrated.

Future Opportunity Connection: Connecting nominated athletes to resources that support leadership development, higher education, and future career opportunities.

HOW TO NOMINATE

Adults 18 and older can nominate any high school student athlete in grades 9 to 12, boys & girls at www.positiveathlete.org/nominate. Nominations take only a few minutes to complete.
