Hyper ISE Recognized for Increasing Data Center Efficiency, Performance and ROI while Reducing Energy Consumption, Waste and Cost

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., January 24, 2012 – XIO, the leader in performance driven storage, announced it has been named to CRN’s 2012 Data Center 100 list. This annual list recognizes technology vendors for powering, supporting and protecting today’s data center services in an environmentally and economically friendly manner, while boosting efficiency and productivity. The honor caps a year in which XIO was awarded several channel distinctions by CRN, including the prestigious 5-Star Partner rating.

XIO’s revolutionary HDD/SSD platform Hyper ISE is built upon the field-proven ISE architecture. Designed to drive database, VDI, Business Intelligence, cloud computing and server virtualization initiatives, Hyper ISE integrates seamlessly into existing storage environments and – unlike legacy storage – requires less infrastructure to meet enterprise high-performance demands. With 100% usable capacity, efficiencies in power and cooling, small physical footprint and unmatched reliability, Hyper ISE offers significant reductions in capital and operational expenses.

“We are excited about our inclusion in CRN’s 2012 Data Center 100 List. It underscores our ongoing efforts to equip partners with valuable solutions that meet the demands of today’s enterprise data centers,” said Steve Sicola, CTO at XIO. “Combining SSD performance with HDD capacity, Hyper ISE has proven to be a winning solution, providing unmatched storage performance and capacity ratios for its price, a space-saving design and the lowest power consumption in the industry.”

Fusing SSD and HDD into a single pool of capacity, Hyper ISE provides up to 200,000 IOPS in a 3U, 14.4 TB storage system. Addressing customer and partner demands for massively scalable, high-performance storage environments, XIO’s X-Volume software enables users to create and manage pools of virtualized storage across multiple Hyper ISE systems to achieve millions of IOPS. Offering the industry’s best balance of price, performance and capacity, Hyper ISE is backed by an unmatched 5-year, no-cost standard hardware warranty.

“The 2012 Data Center 100 list recognizes vendors that, over the course of 2011, have shown a dedication to the innovation and advancement of today’s data center services,” said Kelley Damore, Vice President and Editorial Director for UBM Channel. “The recent upsurge in cloud computing has solution providers searching for new ways to ensure their clients maintain connectivity while mitigating costs and security threats. We congratulate each vendor on the 2012 Data Center 100 list for providing a significant growth opportunity for solution providers to build their business by offering cutting-edge products and services to customers.”

Selected by CRN’s editorial staff, the 2012 Data Center 100 list is featured in the January issue of CRN Magazine and will be featured online at www.crn.com.

Achieves Double Top Honors; Captures Gold Medal Awards in the Hardware: Storage Category of Both Publications

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – November 28, 2011 – XIO, the leader in performance driven storage, today announced that its Hyper ISE solution was named a double gold medal award winner by Penton Media. The company’s revolutionary HDD/SSD platform secured “2011 Editors’ Best Awards” in the Hardware: Storage category of both Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazine.

The 2011 Editors’ Best Awards are based on a product’s strategic importance to market, its competitive advantages and its value to customers. According to Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazine, “At a turning point in the trajectory of the storage industry, XIO – with its awesome Hyper ISE – is pioneering a unique path that focuses on performance.”

For the honors, both publications interviewed David Hayes, Director of the Microsoft Partner Solutions Center, which has conducted rigorous performance and scalability benchmarking tests of a single XIO Hyper ISE datapac – one half of a full ISE system capacity. Hayes noted: “MPSC hardware-testing projects are designed to put maximum stress on systems so that customers can have the utmost confidence in deploying them in support of business-critical functions. In such a demanding context, XIO Hyper ISE performed beyond our wildest expectations. We estimate it would take an increase of workload by a factor of 10 to push the Hyper ISE we tested to its actual performance threshold.”

“We are thrilled to achieve these two tremendous accolades, which further underscore Hyper ISE as the storage platform for fueling performance of the Microsoft apps – Exchange, SQL Server, Hyper-V – that are the lifeblood of today’s businesses,” said Steve Sicola, CTO at XIO. “Leveraging real-time performance analysis and patented Continuous Adaptive Data Placement technology, Hyper ISE ensures that the right data is in the right place at the right time – always. The result: enterprises enjoy SSD performance with HDD capacity and price for all of their data – without any administration to manage tiering. That powerful proposition is unprecedented in the market.”

Built upon the field-proven ISE architecture and its thousands of deployments worldwide, Hyper ISE is architected to drive database, VDI, cloud computing and server virtualization initiatives. Fusing SSD and HDD into a single pool of capacity, Hyper ISE provides up to 200,000 IOPS in a 3U, 14.4 TB storage system. Addressing customer demands for massively scalable, high-performance storage environments, XIO’s X-Volume software enables users to create and manage pools of virtualized storage across multiple Hyper ISE systems to achieve millions of IOPS. Offering the industry’s best balance of price, performance and capacity, Hyper ISE is backed by an unmatched 5-year, no-cost standard hardware warranty.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – November 8, 2011 – XIO the leader in performance driven storage, today announced a series of key executive moves aimed at accelerating the company’s record growth behind the groundbreaking Hyper ISE platform. The moves are led by the addition of John D. Beletic in the role of XIO president and CEO. Beletic brings nearly 30 years of defining and driving operational excellence in a range of highly competitive technology markets. With the addition of Beletic, Alan Atkinson has been elevated to the role of chairman of the board with a focus on strategic business development and international growth.

These changes come as XIO has completed its very successful transition from its legacy Magnitude storage line to a complete focus on ISE-based storage, and specifically the Hyper ISE platform – which is hailed as the first “unbreakable storage system for Microsoft.” Hyper ISE was delivered to market in the Summer of 2011, represented the fastest product ramp in the company’s history and now represents 80 percent of XIO’s business.

“In the nearly two years that I have been with XIO, the company has experienced an incredible period of innovation and growth,” said Atkinson. “With the overwhelming reception of the Hyper ISE platform, the ability to bring John on board and allow me to focus on strategic growth initiatives, strengthens a bench that can drive what we have built to its full potential.”

The company has also re-aligned its sales team to reflect its increased focus on the channel. As part of this effort, XIO today also announced the promotions of Shawn Kinnear and Dave Ornstein to vice presidents of sales for the western and eastern US regions respectively. Kinnear has been with the company for six years and brings over 20 years of sales and sales management experience in the technology industry including Cotelligent, Quest Software and Computer Associates. Ornstein has been with the company three years. He has over 15 years of technology sales and sales management in both direct and indirect models including positions at both Compaq and HP. Kinnear and Ornstein will be responsible for all sales and pre-sales activities and be instrumental in setting go to market strategies for XIO. They replace recently departed VP of worldwide sales, Mark Glasgow.

“Having served as both a senior executive and an investor in high growth companies, I’ve been able to see the opportunities and challenges faced by corporate teams from many different angles,” added Beletic. “XIO is a company that has the potential to be truly disruptive in multiple markets with exceptional growth opportunities. I am excited to have the opportunity to benefit from the great foundation that Alan and his team have built, and take it to the next level.”

Beletic joins XIO after nearly a decade serving as venture partner and board member of numerous firms while at Oak Investment Partners. Prior to Oak, Beletic spent nearly 25 years in senior executive roles – principally as president and chief executive officer –of high-growth technology and communications companies including Tigon, PageMart and Weblink Wireless. He is currently chairman of the board of iPass, Inc. (NASDAQ: IPAS) and lead director of Tessco Technologies (NASDAQ: TESS). Previously, he also served on the boards of Scale Eight and Data Return.

Arbitech continues to meet the demands of its customers by offering total solutions in an efficient and cost effective manner.”

Mr. Mark Dunlap, VP of Purchasing for Arbitech, added: “The addition of XIO to our product offering is a natural progression for Arbitech. As Arbitech has become the preeminent distributor in the independent channel, it has sought to partner with established manufacturers in more traditional relationships. XIO is a leading storage innovator that is recognized globally for its products.”

“It is essential to build a strong ecosystem of partners in order to accelerate growth,” said Alan Atkinson, President and CEO of XIO. ”It is as equally important to make sure they are the right partners. Arbitech is very successful and has experienced tremendous growth but still provides the individual attention needed to make relationships like this work. The XIO Hyper ISE storage system is a unique and valuable product that is ideal for Arbitech’s channel.”

They XIO Hyper ISE storage system provides over 200,000 IOPS and greatly reduces database query times, significantly increases server consolidation and enables VDI projects supporting thousands of virtual desktops on a single system.

“The XIO Hyper ISE is in a class by itself and provides a solution in a rapidly emerging performance-driven storage market. Arbitech is interested in working with leaders that solve real problems. That is why we partnered with XIO,” said Mr. Binford.

“The combination of the Hyper ISE and X-Volume enables us to aggregate multiple systems to achieve over a million IOPS far more cost effectively than anything else that is out there. We are talking a whole new ball game here,” added Mr. Atkinson.

Establishes 200,000 IOPS Benchmark in SSD/HDD Platform with Hyper ISE Storage System Offering Groundbreaking Price/Performance/Capacity Ratios

LAS VEGAS, VMWORLD 2011, BOOTH #1235 and COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – August 29, 2011 – Xiotech Corporation today announced the change of the company name to XIO (pronounced “ex-eye-oh”) and the recently launched SSD/HDD storage system, formerly known as Hybrid ISE, has been renamed Hyper ISE due to its unparalleled performance capabilities. In addition, new Hyper ISE improvements enable performance as high as 200,000 IOPS in a 3U, 14.4 TB storage system. XIO is also announcing X-Volume software that creates a virtual volume across multiple Hyper ISE systems enabling users to achieve one million IOPS or more. The company will be showcasing Hyper ISE in Booth #1235 at VMworld 2011, taking place August 29 – September 1 in Las Vegas.

Hyper ISE is the only storage system that provides True SHD, which fuses SSD and HDD into a single pool of capacity. Hyper ISE has enabled XIO customers to reduce database query times by up to 20X, deploy thousands of virtual desktops on a single (Hyper ISE) storage system and increase server consolidation ratios by up to 5X.

XIO True SHD is enabled by Continuous Adaptive Data Placement (CADP) software, which automatically places hotspot data on high-performance SSD and keeps “warm” data on HDD. As a result, Hyper ISE offers price/performance/capacity ratios that are unmatched in the industry.

“The name change is important because we are a different company with a new focus,” said XIO President and CEO Alan Atkinson. “Hyper ISE is a revolutionary product that is a unique and valuable solution addressing a rapidly emerging market. Hyper ISE actually enables you to simply do things you couldn’t before. It changes the economics of application performance and allows you to do much more with less. When your customers consistently tell you that no other solution could have solved their problems, you know you are on to something big.”

Hyper ISE is built upon the field-proven ISE architecture with thousands of systems deployed worldwide. Hyper ISE is backed by an unmatched 5-year, no-cost hardware warranty.

“The three most important things in storage are performance, reliability and ease of use,” said XIO CTO Steve Sicola. “We outperform everyone. The pure SSD players and the traditional storage vendors just don’t have the right price/performance. Sure, you can get all of these systems to perform fast, but they cost way, way too much. On top of that, we are more reliable than any other storage system, especially compared to other performance driven storage systems. Most of the pure SSD players don’t know how to spell HA, let alone implement it in their solutions. And we are really, really easy to manage. And ‘easy’ isn’t just about a cool GUI or integration with VMware. It is about years and years of field deployments and understanding what it means to support enterprise data centers.”

Customer and Partner Quotes

David Hayes, Senior Director of the Microsoft Partner Solutions Center

“We were driving the servers to the max, but we were barely putting a dent in the Hyper ISE performance. It seems the more we throw at it, the faster it gets. XIO has become one of my top-tier solutions.”

Sean Larson, Network Administrator at Sycamore Community Unit School District 427

“Hyper ISE solved our VDI performance problem immediately and was four times less expensive than our other storage vendor’s product. We have nearly 1,000 virtual desktops on Hyper ISE and it isn’t even making the system sweat. We intend to put other applications on it too because we know it can handle it. Hyper ISE is a rock-solid storage system that combines SSD and SAS drives, providing the optimum amount of storage and IOPS.”
