Who else better than Koji Suzuki to put a little fear into this underappreciated room. Who is Koji Suzuki? While the name might not ring a bell, I’m sure you have heard of his work. He was the mastermind behind Ju-On… which was adapted into The Grudge here in the states.

The story “Drop” is set in a public bathroom, a place even more underappreciated than your normal bathroom. But would I be writing about Koji’s latest work if there wasn’t an interesting twist? How about this story takes up just 3 feet of text? And interesting way of measuring a story normally denoted by pages you say? Well this is no ordinary print. Drop is printed on, you guessed it, toilet paper.

For just $2.12 a roll, you can have a short story written by a master of horror himself… not to mention it’s perfect reading material during your short or maybe not so short stop. Maybe afterwards, you will have a new found respect and could consider bringing a book into the bathroom just to sit down and read.

This video has nothing to do with Hello Kitty other than the fact that this kitty’s meow has sparked a viral video hit. The video has topped 7 million views so far. I have to admit though, if my cat’s meow was like that, I don’t know how long I could take it.

Not quite from Japan, but the wordplay was too good to pass up.

You may be wondering what zombies have to do with Japan. Well, other than there is a pretty popular Japanese L4D group on Steam, it seems that it’s also pretty funny to trick kids into believing there is a zombie apocalypse happening right outside. Are your kids ready for the apocalypse?

If I had to choose one movie as my favorite from the gore genere, it would have to be Koroshiya.  It features the naive and misguided Ichi, and the fearless yet deranged Kakihara.  Here in the states, the movie is called Ichi the Killer. Kakihara becomes obsessed with finding Ichi after he finds out how much pain he can inflict.

While browsing Zaeega, I found this cool bento of Kakihara from Koroshiya. The maker even included a small side dish that features a tongue. I won’t explain the significance of that just incase you are looking to watch the movie, but I must say it was a nice touch. Here’s the trailer below.

They say that the way food or drinks look plays a major influence on how well we like it. I would have to agree. These are some awesome fruit juice packaging from Industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa. Looking at the strawberry box, it looks as if the packaging may even feel like the specific fruit it represents. Something like this would be a major hit, even though, I suspect that the product would be a bit more expensive than your average juice box. Would you pay for it?

Gilco is one of Japan’s oldest candy companies, and is home to the popular Glico caramel candy as well as the legendary Pocky.

For about 80 years now, inside the Glico caramel candy boxes there is a small toy called “Omake of Glico” (Small gift of Glico). It started off as little toys kids would love such as toy cars and rockets. It soon came to include miniture models, such as this Nikon F SLR camera that would melt the hearts of adults as well.

What’s so crazy about this is the level of detail. While the cameras obviously don’t function, the above picture shows a real MACRO Nikkor 35mm F4.5 lens mounted to the mini-model.

Tomy has done it again. If you are old enough to remember space invaders, this functioning bank will trigger your nostalgia reflex. Personally I remember the game, but I’m too young to remember the actual table. We did have a functioning Atari when I was a child though. Ah. Memories.

This Space Invaders Bank not only can help you save for the future purchase of a full size table — because I know you are, but it also is a playable mini-table. The buttons on the side control the action on the top screen. The bank even has the authentic Space Invaders sounds.

We all know that arcades are pretty much dead here in the states. In Japan, arcades have taken a major hit as well, but they still have companies churning out new innovative machines such as this one. Watch as Akihabara News takes you on a demo of the Storm-G.

For those of you in America, it will be airing tomorrow morning between 7:00am and 10:30 EST, if I did my conversion correctly. Those of you that have to work, you can check out the Lost In Ube blog. He has been posting the Sasuke results for awhile now, and will be live blogging the event.

I will try to refrain from posting results and pictures due to last year’s… um, incident. However, if you don’t have access to TBS where you live, you can always download KeyholeTV and watch it live. A bit of warning though, the servers are bound to be packed for the broadcast.
