Meanwhile, the fundraiser is still going on strong.

We have raised $2561 so far, and we have announced the STRETCH GOALS:

If the total reaches $3000, then we will release a single off the album: on VINYL! These would be special collectors' items and severely limited, numbered and signed.

If the total reaches $8000 we will also put together a brand new music video, joining our forces once again with SOLOBUIO VISUAL FACTORY, the videomakers behind our 2008's video The Art Of Revenge and the ones responsible for a lot of great videos in the past years, among them Dope Stars Inc., Nachtmahr, Rome, L'ame Immortelle, Spiritual Front, Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio and countless others.

The fundraiser was successful in 18 hours, more or less. We are now already $50 over the goal.

Due to the nature of these crowdfunding websites, we cannot stop the process and we need to let it run for the whole 40 days we originally planned, ending on June 16th.

This means two things: first of all, we can stick to our original plan and release the album on Bandcamp, iTunes and the other digital distribution networks on June 1st.

All of you who supported us and bought one of the perks including the immediate digital download of the album, will receive it in the mail between June 1st - June 4th.

This also mean that in the even we keep on receiving donations and support we'll be able to put the extra money towards funding a new video: it's been a while we wanted to do another full scale music video like we did back in 2008 for The Art Of Revenge, so maybe this is the right moment for it.

Some of you messaged us yesterday regarding trying to work towards a vinyl release: we are definitely looking into that as well.

A sad goodbye to TOURING...

Hello everyone, Marco here… the bald half of XP8, that is.

This is going to be a strange communication: a few days ago I thought this would have been the news update where we'd announce you the release date and formats for the new album, Adrenochrome, along with the first details of the announced North American tour.

But it seems like fate played us another of his tricks: XP8 has always been a, let's say, less than lucky band, and it seems like luck is not on our side this time either.

As pretty much everyone knows by now, most of the bands in this genre and in this scene cannot sustain themselves merely on music - be it selling records, merchandise or touring, going full time professional is just no an option for many of us.

We struggled on the verge of the so-called "semi-pro" level for many years now, and to do so we - both me and Marko - kept our day jobs along making music and playing shows to… well, to survive, eat, pay the bills, and all that fancy stuff that's called "real life".

One of our good friends in this crazy roller coaster that's the life of the musician is Daniel Graves, of Aesthetic Perfection's fame, and more than once he stated in interviews and forum posts one simple truth: you cannot really be a musician AND keep a day job. Because as things start to pick up - and it takes many year for things to start to pick up… it took 10 years for us, but then again we are slowpokes - you just won't find time to accommodate both lives.

It's either one or the other.

Well, kinda: you can keep on releasing music of course (it's so easy these days, with the digital distribution and all!) and you can do the odd show from time to time. But to really push it all up a notch, you need to tour, and you need to tour A LOT: and as you can imagine, since "it's either one or the other", you end up being forced to make a choice.

These days Marko (the not bald half of XP8) got offered a new job in a very good position, and he decided to take it: to be fair, with all of you, I might have make the exact same choice. When you are in your 20s, you can always say "let's try this, I'll settle down later". But we are not in our 20s anymore, and since long. I guess we were just too late to the party.

So he made a choice, and he chose the "day job".

This drastically change the outlook for XP8 as a band: we just cannot go on a proper tour anymore, one that lasts more than a mere weekend, and so we need to re-consider pretty much everything we have planned for the next year and the future.

To begin with, there won't be any North American tour: we are very sorry to disappoint all our American and Canadian fans like this, and we hope that we'll be able to do a one off show sooner or later. I personally want to thank Troy Hilton and everyone and Darker Side Of Light Promotions for the AMAZING work he's done to get that show on the road, and all the local promoters who showed interest and enthusiasm from day one: again, a classic stroke of "XP8 luck", that the moment we finally find a serious and committed booking agent is the moment we are forced to retire from the touring business.

We will release Adrenochrome on June 1st. You will still see the announced "bigger project" we hinted and teased about, set to release along with the album: you won't have to wait too much for it tho, as it will debut in a couple of weeks along our newly revamped website. At the moment we are still discussing the actual format of the album, and we should be able to give you all the definitive details around mid April.

We will still play shows: so the announced shows at the Vampire Party Live in Antwerp, KOMA Kick-Off Party in Oslo, Terminus in Calgary, Summer Darkness in Utrecht and at Alt-Fest in the UK are definitely still on, and we are going to play at the official Adrenochrome release party at Slimelight in London on June 1st.

We are NOT "quitting": even if I would be a liar if I wouldn't tell you all that I personally feel like we kinda are, since I always wanted "more" for this band and we won't be able to achieve it now… at least not in the terms I wanted it.

Thank you all, once again, all for the unending support so far and over all these long years, and I can't wait to hear your feedback on the Adrenochrome songs.

Please note that we are well aware that the costs tend to be higher than what you'd pay at one of our shows, but truth be told, we are not one of those bands which can afford to tour constantly.

So this is the closest we can offer to those who'd love to sport an XP8 shirt, but cannot come to one of the few shows we play during the course of the year!

2012: a year in music - THE MIXTAPE

Here's a selection of the music that made to Marco's Top Of 2012 series of blogs he published on my own DJ Azrael page and on the Brutal Resonance webzine during December 2012, and then some more that didn't find space there, but did find their ways into his dj sets.

A variety of styles to reflect the wealth of great music still to be found in the music world, without sticking to just this or that genre. There are, however, a handful of tracks that should have been featured and are not here due to age old problem of running out of time: "Bury It" by Alter Der Ruine, "Flatliner (Encephalon Remix)" by ∆aimon and "Belispeak" by Purity Ring - be sure to check those out too!

These days surely are quite hectic, with everyone suddently becoming an expert of Mayan history and anthropology and announcing the upcoming end of the world.

So let us tell you a secret: no, the world is not going to end.

The Mayans never managed their calendar to be a herald of doom: they only used to count time in a different way than we do.

What we are sure it will happen on December 21st, is that the Wheel of the Year will make another turn and it will be time for Yule once again. And Yule - or Christmas, if you are so inclined - means two things: parties, and gifts... and we have both!

First of all, here's one little gift for you: the remix we did for Icon Of Coil's new single "PerfectSex" - the first in eight years! While working on it, we found ourselves thinking if this is a new genre in the making: nu-ebm, industep? You call it.

Feel free to share it everywhere, and don't forget to download it from our Soundcloud, burn it to a CD or copy it on a USB drive and bring it to your local DJ and ask to spin it!

But we mentioned a party too, right?

And that's going to happen right here, on the Internet, on the very day that's scaring shitless all the doomsayers out there: on December 21st at 8pm, New York City time, we'll be online at the Vampirefreaks - The End Of The World Internet Party, along with Faderhead, Aesthetic Perfection, Imperative Reaction and many others bands, to answer questions, chat, and in general be drunk and irresponsible.

Hello everybody, we've been quiet in the past months over here, but we've been quite busy between playing three more kickass shows in the UK (check the gallery for some pics) and remixing left and right, while still putting down the foundation stones of the our next album, of which you'll hear alot in the upcoming months.

So we'll just use this update to wish you a good start of the new cycle and a bountiful last harvest... or for those of you not versed into the pagan ways, a happy Halloween!

Moreover, we want to rejoyce and thank you all as the BURNING DOWN video has reached, and breached, the 20.000 views in just two months!

Finally, if you happen to be in Moscow and N. Novgorod at the end of November, you are in for a treat as we'll play two exclusive shows, the first in six whole years: last time we played Russia it was during the summer, will we survive the cold, cold winter?

what did it really happen at INFEST?

It took us three long days to actually decide to write this blog: it's not easy for us to accept the utter debacle that was the Infest gig.

For many reasons: we have been wanting to play Infest for very long, the UK crowd is quite possibly the most dedicated fan base we have secured for ourselves over the years, and we did our best to improve the live set and to make it, in fact, as "live" as possible.

This is one of the most age-old problems with electronic music, expecially in the ebm/industrial underground: let's face it, most bands just go on stage with an iPod running the backings, and they just sing on it, maybe adding some keys here and there.

We admit to have done it for a while, in our early days.

But it did become boring quite soon, especially as the laptops and the softwares started to get better and more performant: running Ableton Live on a Mac Book Pro, you can indeed to wonders these days, such as (incoming tech talk, be warned!) running every song as separate track, i.e. drums, bass, melodies, and be able to remix them on the fly, or process the vocals directly, allowing us to use distortion and clean vocals in the same track - think Burning Down.

So we went this route a couple years ago, and we never regretted it.

Till last saturday, when both our computers decided to fail spectacularly like they did.

We did have a foreshadowing of the impending doom, in this post on our Facebook page, but then we did run our pre-gig tests and everything was fine, till the moment we started the gig, when Mac Book Pro #1 (Marko's) decided to start arbitrarily switching between mains and battery power, causing the whole system to stutter and reach 395% of CPU usage - or so that's what Live was telling us.

That was the moment when we tried to switch to Mac Book Pro #2 (Marco's), only to find that we could get any sound to get out of the external sound card.

You can see our expression of complete surprise in this very picture - we almost could not believe it:

At this point, we realised that we just needed to show to keep going and we managed to re-arrange on the fly our most famous songs and play them without extra frills, and so no on-the-fly remixing, no vocal effects, nothing "live": just the "good old" (not really) industrial karaoke.

What we learned from this terrible experience, the first in ten years of playing live?

That we need a third backup on the damn iPod, to avoid situations like these.

Or a live sound engineer to follow us on stage, should we ever be able to afford one.

The news is finally out: we'll play INFEST 2012!

After KMFDM were forced to cancel their appearance at this year’s show, the Infest HQ decided to open up the choice of replacement to their supporters.

Having compiled a short list of realistic options from suggestions posted on their Facebook Page, a shortlist poll was posted for people to vote on the options for replacement.

Despite there being a number of options to vote for, this quickly turned into a ‘David vs Goliath’ type battle between the mighty Apoptygma Berzerk and us, and against all odds - considering the over 70.000 APB's Facebook Fans against our little, but tirereless, army of 5000 - we pulled slightly ahead by the close of counting!

…So with a bit of lineup juggling, we have been added to the Infest bill for 2012.

If you follow us on our Facebook Page, you know already that we have been working for a while on an exclusive track with Surgyn.

The ideas behind this song came together during the two shows we played together last March in London and Glasgow, after we realised that all the four of us are quite strongly opposed to a certain trend in the electro-industrial scene: that is, the constant dumbing down of a certain music genre coming mainly from Germany, the "Eldorado" of the rivetheads of the 21st Century.

So we decided to try our hand at such genre, called by some people industrial rave, and just make it the right way, without adding first a good dose of sarcasm and dark humor.

As the first signs of the coming Springs are appearing here and there (surely not here in Italy, where we are experiencing the harshest February in 30 years...), we bring you some hot news.

In little over a month, we'll storm over the British Isles once again, for three concerts in Dublin, London and Glasgow. Surgyn will be the main guests for the tour, and each date will have something spicy and unique.

We'll open in Dublin on Friday, March 9th, at The Thomas House, and you can find all the details at the official Facebook event. Surviving the first night of the tour will be already hard, as we know even too well how hard our Irish friends like to party - and drink!

Next day, Saturday, March 10th, we'll be in London at the Slimelight (our second house, really!) for a bombastic night featuring also the UK newcomers Spucktute and Observe & Control, all the way from Tel-Aviv. We'll also have a very special guest joining us on stage for a song or two...

And if this is not enough, the ticket to the gig will grant free entry to the Slimelight Afterparty, which will feature a live concert by Alien Vampires and 3 floors of industrial dance till 7am in the morning.

You can grab the limited edition digipack version by Deathwatch Asia (distributed worldwide through your usual stores/mailorders) or you can download it right now from iTunes, Amazon MP3, eMusic, Beatport - the worldwide #1 music store for electronic and dance music - and pretty much everywhere else you can go to buy digital music online.

And in case you are wondering, yes, you can find it also on Spotify: but let me please say a word about Spotify... as nice as it is to just stream everything you want, many of you won't know how little Spotify actually pay artists.

Very, very little: to the point that some labels are removing their entire catalogues from the streaming service althogether.

Check out this article to get an idea of how little is "very, very little".

At the same time, we decided to keep out music there because little is still better than nothing - YouTube for instace, which these days is the first place where people listen to music and discover new artists, allow illegal streaming even if it's theorically against their own policies.

We've hinted at and teased, but now we are ready to announce it: the maxi EP X: A Decade Of Decadence will be out on December 2nd, 2011 on limited digipack by DWA as well as being distributed through iTunes, Spotify, Beatport, Emusic and many other networks.

One of the first reviews we got, ten whole years ago, described us in a way that perfectly caught the whole idea behind XP8:

XP8 composes an airy blend of EBM, electronica, techno and trance, bringing their various visions and talents to life with synthetic vibrancy and danceable beats, crossing electronic genres with relative ease.Aimed at the heart of the dancefloor, the music keeps listeners moving through the night in timeless waves, emitting subtle hints of the 1980s while slipping easily into sounds of the new millennium: glitchy patterns, sharp simulated strings, and clear vocals travel through bright sequences and brooding atmospheres.

With those very words in mind, we decided to go back to our roots and record seven new songs where we play around the futurepop genre and twist it to accommodate our multifaceted influences, mixing and mingling it to create once again the aural alchemy we become known for.

After three records, two EPs and six years, the route we shared with Infacted Recordings came to its natural end, and from now on XP8 will continue its travel on its own feet, embracing completely the digital revolution that redefined the rules and regulations of the music business: we have already been distributing digitally our back catalogue through TuneCore for the past two years, and recently we added also our own direct digital store on the Bandcamp platform. Now we are ready to take the extra step, and start releasing directly also our new material.

Still, we also wanted to keep our music pressed on actual CDs, and to do that we renewed our partnership with one of the most dynamic, focused and committed record label in the Electro Industrial scene: DWA.

We call X a EP, but it's way more than that: it comprises 7 brand new songs and 3 reworks of tracks that marked XP8's history, made by Aesthetic Perfection, Autodafeh and Tom Napack of Vanity Police.

And yes, in case you are wondering after having listened to it: the voice on Trip is indeed that of Stewart Who?, with whom we collaborated again after that fantastic performance together at the Resistanz Festival in Sheffield, UK, where we rocked our own remix version of the classic, platinum-selling club hit Twisted by Wayne G (which you can listen here, in case you still haven't heard it!).
