GE Will Light the 2012 London Olympic Games

When the 2012 London Olympic Games commence in July they will be lit by General Electric, the Worldwide Partner who will be the exclusive provider of a ride range of innovative products and services that will play an important role in making the Games a success. When it comes to the lighting, the Games will feature:

14,000 lamps in the 80,000 seat Olympic stadium including the back of the house and the functional areas
sports floodlighting in the basketball and handball arenas
HDTV Sports Lighting scheme for the Olympic Hockey Centre

Empire State Building Receives New LED Lighting System

The time has come; the World’s Most Famous Office Building will finally be transitioning from traditional lights to LEDs. Through a partnership with Philips Color Kinetic, the world’s leader in lighting, the Empire State Building’s facade will soon feature a state-of-the-art art lighting system comprised of innovative LED bulbs as a part of its 21st century renovation.

The system, which will be entirely unique to the Empire State Building, will highlight its architectural details and allow the building’s facade and mast to change lighting scenes in real-time. It will also help provide better automation management and control of the various sets of lights that celebrate multiple causes and cultures in the world, key milestones, events, charitable organizations, countries and holidays. Once it’s complete in September the system’s palette will include over 16 million colors that can be displayed in an unlimited amount of combinations.
