Patriot Xporter XT 32GB

Having just fired out a review of their SSD, today I'm picking up the mantle of another Patriot review. This one's the 32Gb variant of their Xporter line of pen drives. It's only USB 2.0 so I'm not expecting mind blowing performance, but Patriot have said that this one has "200x performance speed", so it's gotta be fast, right?

One problem plaguing those that want an SSD at the moment is that there really isn't an option for those without deep pockets. There's no way getting round it, SSDs are expensive. However, you can help alleviate this wallet pressure by getting one without too much storage space. Today we look at one of the smallest available SSD sizes, a 64GB from Patriot known as the Torqx TRB. Let's see how it holds up against the bigger boys.

If you're using a high end PC, cooling is always going to be a problem and a priority for you. The obvious solutions to this issue are to attempt to insert more fans and heatsinks into your PC wherever necessary.

Spire are internationally recognised as a premiere producer of cooling technology that specialises in cooling for gaming PCs. But as usual, a name doesn't give you a pass in XSR testing, so let's see how their latest iteration of GPU cooler, the Slimod II stands up.

The easiest way to get yourself some faster network transfer rates is to throw a Gigabit switch into the mix. That's what I'm looking to do today with the Edimax ES 5500G 5 port gigabit switch. Is it worth the money? Does it give good transfer rates?

Auzentech have been around for a few years now and that's a good thing; as well as being impressive. They entered the sound card game when it was all about Creative and they did so by simply taking a popular chip, the X-Fi, and throwing it on a board of their own with some nice tweaks. A winning formula. Now though, they're branching away from these roots with the re-tooled X-Meridian 7.1, named the 2g. Packing a C-Media CMI8788 audio processor with support for plenty of connectors, a daughter board and replacable OpAmps; audiophiles look like they're in for a treat. Let's see if the rumours are true.

Each generation of graphics cards is made up of the kind of GPUs that most people buy, the mid-range and they have the budget ones which quite a lot of others buy. Then you have the monsters, dual chip and single. Today we look at the latter one from HIS, the HD 6970. A giant card with expected impressive performance; though you know this is going to pull a lot of power. Let's see how much.

With the ever expanding use of smartphones and other clever little electronic gadgets, one problem the world is starting to come to terms with is that there is just never enough power to go around. Lugging around chargers can be a real pain, especially if you need a different one for each device. However, Coolermaster have produced what a few others have done, a backup power supply. However, this isn't its first iteration, this new version of the Power Fort comes with a simple USB interface hoping to standardise backup charging. Let's see if it's as effective without the myriad of charge heads.

Sunbeamtech Twister 120

Here at XSReviews we've seen a multitude of CPU coolers over the years from the good, the bad to the ugly. One thing we can say though is that the tower format heatsink has undoubtedly prevailed as the base concept for the majority of designs. Whilst each manufacturer opts for their own variation of fin spacing, sizes, fan combinations etc., ultimately the initial design can be boiled down to a tower of aluminium fins.

Naturally, the cooler sat in front of us today is no different. With the tower layout firmly at the heart of the Sunbeamtech Twister 120, we're looking at small variations, in comparison to competing heatsinks, to set this cooler apart from the crowd: let's take a closer look to see what we're dealing with.
