The Android app for the excellent reviews site LouderVoice has just been released freshly into the Google Android app market. Android is Googles exciting new operating system for mobile devices. LouderVoice requested Marino Software to design and develop the application for Android. It includes all the key features from the LouderVoice website which allows you to easily add and find reviews. The app takes advantage of GPS features so you can find reviews close to your current location and even view the location relating to the review on Google maps.

And now for some screenshots:

We have just submitted our latest iPhone application to the Apple app store for approval. It’s called Paddy Speak and is a fun audio application that has 34 sound-bites with a certain Irish flavour. We teamed up with the mad feckers at Red Gorilla who produced the audio. Red Gorilla are the guys behind the hilarious Langerland.

Damien Mulley has run a survey of Irish iPhone users which has thrown up some interesting data, mostly the fact that quite a large number of people have paid for apps and music, with an average of €17 spent on apps.

http://mulley.ie/iphone/

While 115 is by no means a huge number of respondents to a survey, I think its interesting, especially as Gene Munster of Piper Jaffery recently estimated an average spend in 2009 of $15, only €11.70 at current rates.

Demo Codes for the App Store

Apple have made it possible for developers to issue demo codes for their iPhone apps.

http://www.macrumors.com/2008/12/02/developers-can-now-issue-free-promotional-copies-of-iphone-apps/

While this is a good first step it falls short of what is really needed. For a start the codes can only be redeemed in the US iTunes store.

Secondly, what is really needed is a method of offering a free trial, along with the possibly of in app purchase of the full title.

Perhaps if people could try before they buy the pricing race to the bottom in the AppStore could be arrested.

Video site Joost has released a nicely put together iPhone app. It looks well and the video quality appears to be pretty good.

However, while trying it out yesterday, it seems to crash quite a bit. Also, I’m not sure if its because I am based outside the states but the content seemed fairly limited.

Still its a promising app and its nice to see more of this sort of thing given the lack of flash playback on the iPhone.

Erica Sadun (How many times have I mentioned her now this week) has posted a good article pointing out some of the simplest gotchas you can fall foul of when submitted your app to the app store.

Erica Sadun has found out more about the iPhone TV out.

http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2008/11/28/iphone-tv-out-update-now-with-control-screen-camera-feed

It appears you can have a screen on display while you use the TV. I wonder do Apple see this as a presentation api or could this be used for games in some way.

It looks like sales of the G1 from HTC will top 1 million by the end of the year.

Not bad at all considering it was only release towards the end of October.

Considering Motorola are switching to Android next year sales can only accelerate.

Second Android Phone on the way, My Eyes My Beautiful Eyes

I see there is a second Android phone coming along with some interesting ideas.

http://www.zzzphone.com/

The handset has modular hardware you can plug in, like an extended life battery, full “qwert” (their text not mine) keyboard, a projector and even a “Boom Box”.

If the hardware is anything like the site its not going to be a great phone. However the basic model is only $119 unlocked. This is the advantage of Android being and open source system coming to life. However, its also the disadvantage. What will users think of Android when there are load of cheap and nasty handsets available.

Check out the TV ad, its a credit to the producer.

I especially like the fact that I can get a gold plated version with Diamonds (in custom positions) for only $225,000, complete with four girls dancing on the beach.
