Custom decals for new Sydney shopping centre

We've been busy with a fun job here at Vinyl Design! In collaboration with Visual Empire, a Sydney company specialized in visual merchandising, set design and promotional events. We created lots of cherry blossom branches, cherry blossoms trees and chalkboard decals to go in various areas of brand new Lidcomb Power Centre in Sydney inner west.

This image shows a relax and recharge area where you can recharge your phone and rest.

There are two kids play areas on two levels, now decorated with our blowing trees wall decals and some chalkboard balloons decals.

They are based on a build-to-order system to ensure they design produce every item uniquely for each child. Because of this unique design and attention to detail they pride themselves on, the creators at Gainstory warn that it can take a few weeks at least to make and ship each Teepee, and patience is required (or order far in advance for a special occasion!) As the creators at Gainstory say, as mothers or grandmothers would make a toy for their child with love, so do Gainstory produce and care for their products. Gainstory make each piece with love and are proud to make a precious piece that becomes part of the family.

JoyJoie is based in Sydney, and each teepee is designed and made in Sydney also. The JoyJoie brand was born when the creator watched her two year old daughter's delight in constructing makeshift tents out of dining chairs and sheets. This inspired the design of beautifully stylish teepees with the added bonus of not needing to be deconstructed every time the dining room is needed! The creator of JoyJoie credits her creative ideas to her daughter Ari, who inspires her with concepts, colours, prints and textiles that she enjoys interacting with, and then JoyJoie blends those ideas with adult perspective and style, making it a classic, beautiful and fun addition to any family home. There is a huge range of styles to choose from in the JoyJoie range; fairy tale, minimalist, zebra, game style, paper doll, even family size teepees to name a few.

These two online stores, Gainstory and JoyJoie feature gorgeous additions to any family home. Time for a unique wall piece?

American designer recycles old materials to create new clocks.

These timepieces are made by Shannybeebo, a designer in the United States who creates and decorates clocks of all sizes with unique designs that are eye catching, colourful, and made from recycled materials.

One of her most beautiful and intricate pieces, 'Just Roll With It' is made from small colourful pieces of magazine; cut, hand-rolled, and glued onto a vinyl record to create a vibrant colour collage on the face of the timepiece.

She makes a variety of styles of this magazine piece, by rolling, tubing, and shaping differently to create different designs, such as her Sunburst clock or Rainbow clock. She also creates glitter vinyl record clocks that draw their glitzy inspiration from the Great Gatsby, and rustic wood clocks made from small pieces of treated oak.

Shannybeebo says of her designs: 'These distinctive clocks make for a compelling piece of functional art when hung on a focal wall in your home. Best of all, the manufacture of these clocks, made from vinyl records, oak, and magazine paper that was heading for the bin, means less waste sent to the landfill.'

Shannybeebo creates a number of beautiful pieces, but if there is something you have in mind in regards to colour, size or design, she can make something for custom order. As the days are getting cooler, it is clear that autumn is well and truly in the air. We at Vinyl Design love DIY decoration and décor, so we have found some beautiful ideas of pieces that you can make yourself, to celebrate the crisp air of autumn with pieces painted with hues of orange and brown to warm your home.

There are a collection of wall pieces we have found and loved; mobile-esque hanging foliage and seasonal door wreaths to create an organic look of falling orange Autumn leaves and crackled brown branches. After the chocolate overload of Easter, we at Vinyl design are looking to something a little less sugary to satisfy our sweet cravings this week. Abandoning our tastebuds and turning to sense of smell, we are lusting after soy candles. Here are some of our favourites.

Lemon Canary candles are made with one simple desire in mind: to make something that creator Jasmin could not find. "A beautiful essential oil candle with pesticide free wax that could deepen her meditation". Jasmin was inspired to create her brand Lemon Canary as a young child, when she would mix and create her own skin care products due to eczema restricting her to use many mainstream products. Therefore, after years of study in beauty therapy, aromatherapy and yoga, she has created these organic candles, oils, soaps, melts, and much more that are all available online and for flat rate shipping of $9.95 Australia wide.

Twig Candles are based in South Sydney, and have both standing, and 'make to order' products. This means that you can select and create your very own personalised candle, by selecting on your own fragrance, jar type, and use your own decorative flair to create a gift for someone or use as a promotional product or for your function. Twig pride themselves on being environmentally friendly and have a refill service where you can have your favourite jar refilled with a gorgeous smelling Twig candle! Not only is Twig great for the environment and for the nose, but their candle jars have a great rustic appeal to them that we love.

Torch Candles started in 2011 in Victoria, Australia. Torch Candles began as a small home-based business, selling at marketplaces and to friends and family. Since then they have expanded and collaborated with Morgan Connoley to create their edgy 'Colour & Skulls' Collection. Torch Candles use 100% natural soy wax which is biodegradable and has 50+ hours of burning time.

Soy candles are great for the environment, and with scents and packaging as beautiful as these ones shown above, they are a great touch to any home or workspace.

With Easter just around the corner, we at Vinyl design have been hunting for DIY Easter ideas and we have found an abundance of gorgeous goodies both for kids and for adults!

There's nothing better than celebrating the long weekend with friends and family, so why not bring a delicious Easter-inspired cake for everyone to enjoy?

At thecakeblog.com they have designed a beautiful chocolate bunny cake with edible grass! It looks amazing, and they have generously described how you can make at home in seven simple steps! Find out how on their website! This is perfect for kiddies, to take along to an Easter long weekend gathering, or just for the creative cake lover! Another great thing is that you can use any flavour cake you desire underneath the frills and finishings of the bunny amongst the grass. But in the name of all things Easter, we say there's never too much chocolate!

A great Easter idea we found which is aimed more for the kids, is to make a gorgeous DIY bunny purse out of paper plates - perfect for collecting little chocolate eggs that Easter Bunny may have hidden! Here is a basic design found on mermablog.com, set out with simple instructions and imagery. We love the idea that the children can help in the creative process and design their very own bunny plate purse!

Another thing we fell in love with are decorated Easter eggs. These can be made by anyone, and there are so many ways you can creatively make your own! They are perfect for decorating the house, to do with kids as a school holiday activity, or, as shown in the example that we love, to make as a unique Easter gift for someone special.

Empty out the egg, drill a little hole and insert a special message for a loved one to find! Instructions and beautiful pictures found on Architecture Art Designs show exactly how beautiful this idea can be; from the message, to the decoratory egg, to the gorgeous gift wrapping!

We at Vinyl Designs love anything to do with interior designs, fashion, and rabbits; so with winter approaching, we were excited to stumble across the winter 2014 collection of newly opened boutique store in Sydney's Surry Hills, Citta Design.

Citta designs are based in New Zealand, but have now opened a boutique store in Sydney, andyou’ll find seasonal and classic Citta Design collections in home and design retailers and department stores throughout the world. If you're more of a retail web-hunter,a large range of their products are available on their online shop for shipping Australia wide for a flat rate of $10.

They have an array of products, ranging from men and women's clothing, to stationery, kitchen, and bathroom home wares, all designed with bright colours and vibrant patterns. Rasmus and Mia say of their collection: 'Based on a relaxed antipodean philosophy of life and travel, our products are designed in New Zealand to be useful, beautiful and even a little bit fun.'

The winter range from Citta Design features hues of blue and pastels, contrasted against warm metallics and bold geometric shapes featured on cosy cushions and bedspreads for the bedroom, towels and toiletry bags for the bathroom, umbrellas and scarves for cold, drizzly days.

Due to Citta Designs array of products, we found some more lust-afters from their classic collections. Some of our current crushes from our perusal of Citta Design's online store are:

Moore & Moore Wallpaper is a boutique brand launched by former lifestyle journalist and marketing consultant, Lynne Testoni in 2010.

All their wallpapers are designed and made in Australia and they include a classic range with 4 designs, each design in different colour options and now a new Confetti Range.

Vinyl Design collaborated with Moore & Moore on the Confetti Wallpaper, a new concept that mixes traditional wallpaper with removable decals and allows you to customize and have fun with your own Confetti pattern!

You can choose from 2 different wallpapers with neutral colored spots and add a splash of color with separate vinyl dots (the vinyl dots have the same diameter of the dots printed on the wallpaper)
