Just had to post a pic from this weekend... Matthew came to try on his wedding suit. The cloth and design were chosen by him and his bride to be.

The groomsmen will all be in black tie and Matthew needed to stand out but be in a similar style... they chose charcoal grey reflective stripe from our Hollywood range of cloth with black grosgrain applied to the collar and the same black in covered buttons on the jacket.

We made him a beautiful white wing collar dress shirt with black buttons and his initials in black on his cuff, we also made him two bow ties one in black to match his trim plus one in grey to match the lining...

We think his grin says it all... All the very best to you both

Chris G is getting married in a beautiful local church and Chris D is off to Jamaica to marry his beautiful bride in the same place that he proposed...very romantic!

SKYFALL...….WHO DOSEN’T WANT TO LOOK LIKE MR.BOND!

In the latest blockbuster Skyfall, Daniel Craig has been dressed by Tom Ford tailoring. Although the 2012 take is perhaps a little too tight and the jackets a little short in the body for the average man, there is no denying Bond looks amazing in it.

No doubt Mr Ford’s grey pinstripe suit and midnight blue dinnersuit will sell really well but DON’T FORGET we will do a great job and it will cost a great deal less!

The three button jacket along with turn ups and pocket hankies in the same fabric and colour of the shirt all make an appearance as well as plaid suits in this truly brilliant Bond flick.

Probably the best sartorial lesson we can learn from these films is that, although smartly dressed in a suit, one should always aim to look relaxed in them. Also worthy of note is that men are never more attractive to us women then when they are wearing a well-fitting, well-made suit!

Winter woolies on as we hit the Autumn!

Our minds are running to lovely tweeds, grey flannel, cashmere and prince of Wales check !

When was the last time you had a good sort out of your wardrobe? The answer is probably 'I don't know where to start'... Well don't fear we do!

Liz and I are offering a 'Wardrobe Weed' we have done this for several clients lately and they have been thrilled with the results.

Send some of the older pieces to the charity shop and then with some of our ID Bespoke tailored pieces mixed with a few good quality High Street buys... jumpers/cardigans, flattering jeans, waxed jackets/leather jackets scarves, shoes boots etc you will look and feel great about yourself.

You might need a complete overhaul or a few good pieces to fill the gap..Give us a ring we will discuss when, where and budget and get a good job done...

Wedding Season in Full Swing!

Liz and I love it, wedding season is in full swing here at ID Bespoke. Choosing a wedding suit can be a difficult process, but not at IDB, our grooms always look stylish, the wedding suit compliments the brides dress, each wedding suit is unique...and most importantly the finished wedding suit makes our IDB grooms look and feel a million dollars!!

This season so far we have made grooms beach wedding suits, beautiful groom and grooms men suits for Indian weddings, grooms country wedding suits, for those tying the knot in a country house or barn venue. Grooms wedding suits for Portafino, Tuscany and a French Chateau.

Oh and a particular favourite of ours, civil ceremonies where we get to dress two grooms, making sure each groom looks and feels special without looking the same!

We have just brought a few more bottles of bubbly ready for our up and coming consultations, so Liz and I would like to raise a glass to our grooms their wedding suits which are a perfect fit for every location and wish all the very best to each sylish bridegroom (you know who you are) and their partners.

Fragrances for Christmas

Liz and I have conducted a review of fragrance for men that we could suggest as a Christmas present or a Christmas treat for yourself....

The wickedly decadent 'Kilian' which is a series of luxury niche fragrances established by Kilian Hennessy grandson of the founder of Hennessy Cognac..

There are male and unisex fragrance... The Male fragrances are 'A Taste of Heaven' and 'Straight to Heaven' both are beautifully rich and woody... and the unisex fragrance 'Back to Black' Liaisons Dangereuses' and 'Cruel Intentions' are equally delicious. They are packaged in refillable bottles in lacquered boxes with lock and key. All or most are available from Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and the 'Kilian' website...

Our other favourites a little less expensive than Kilian is Tom Ford's 'Tobacco Vanille' and 'Tuscan Leather' both guaranteed to make men smell every bit as good as Tom ( That's got to be a good thing... right!!).

Just to give you some ideas as to what I will be buying my husband, my son and my brother-in-law this Christmas.

1. For watching rugby and harsh weather condition the Barbour Quilted Wax Hunter Hat £35 from Selfridges........looks cool and does the job well...bring on the Six nations!

2. Uniqlo, S.Oliver and Banana Republic are offering crew neck, v neck jumpers and cardigans in cashmere and merino wool without breaking the bank!

3. John Lewis are doing a really great watch box this Christmas in smart leather, it holds up to 5 watches and can also be used for storing cufflinks and keepsakes!

Of course it goes without saying that when it comes to shirts look no further then our shirt shop online, download an e voucher and let that special someone select his own present

Once again in the fitting room last Saturday we were asked 'should I wear a two or three button suit?' So lets put keyboard to screen and clear this up to all you blog readers!

It depends on 3 things: body type, lifestyle and trend factor...

The three button suit is a good option for men who are 6ft and over. The jacket buttons reach higher up on the chest which makes it more comfortable and visually appealing on taller men. However, NEVER do up the bottom button and if you are going to wear a waistcoat with the jacket, this is a must.
Wearing the jacket with narrow trousers it's on trend for the retro 60s look, however when investing in good tailoring it is a good idea to stay classic.

3 Button Suite

The frame lengthening properties of a two button suit makes it an enduring classic ideal for those of us who don't quite hit the 6ft mark and may be carrying an extra pound or two. Either way an impeccably tailored two button suit that lacks any unnecessary extras is timeless... however, even worn in rotation, any suit over 5 years old will need to be replaced to make sure you look current!

Got that? ...Good!

London Restaurant Scene

I was at 'The Ivy' restaurant in town on Friday for a spot of lunch. Apart from being horrified at the price of shepherds pie (£17+) and realising it does look a bit shabby these days (and there wasn't a celebrity to be seen), what really caught my eye was the state of the gentleman's summer attire. I know it's casual dress code but do we have to look like the Americans? I'm sorry but by and large this is the country that style forgot, their mantra being 'as long as it is comfortable'!

To be honest there was an exception of a table of rather 'happy' city types. One was dressed in a beautiful lightweight mid navy suit with an open necked pink fitted shirt, another two with classic blazers and smart open necked shirts....honestly they were a breathe of fresh air and that's saying something for city types!

Gents give us a call. Whatever the dress code, Liz and I will suggest mixing High Street and Bespoke if it is appropriate. Asked nicely we will even do a spot of personal shopping for those timed challenged or clueless, trendy or classic... but oh... do give a care!!!!!!

I must confess to attending quite a few Wasp club dinners/award nights/testimonials. We always had a great time, especially when Lol was there, but the club suits on all those bulging muscles and big necks, oh dear. We have so longed to dress them in our beautiful suits and shirts. Football players are a little slimmer so we can really play with style for them.

Looking Stylish at Events this Summer

Well here we are mid July already and what a busy, lucky girl I am! With Queens, Wimbledon, Henley Regatta, Henley Festival and the British grand Prix (to name a few) I have been fair run off my feet. But I do love the British Summer scene, come rain or shine, it cannot be duplicated... just like our suits!

At Wimbledon I was sitting a few seats down from the lovey George Lamb, who is somewhat of a fashion icon these days. He was wearing the classic navy blazer with tan narrow summer trousers, albeit the blazer was the trendy shorter length (being a tall guy, it looked liked he had just grown out of it) and the lovely tan trousers were rolled up and worn with espadrilles, but it just goes to show a beautiful blazer, fitted shirt and light summer trousers just cannot be improved upon! I'll drink to that... Cheers George!

Maybe you have a perfectly good jacket, but the trousers are worn, while we couldn't match the jacket to new trousers, we can give the jacket a new lease of life with some new buttons, maybe an embroidered buttonhole, this would give it a stylish new look to work with casual trousers or jeans!

Of course the same works on blazers, if yours is slightly out of date a quick revamp could give it a new lease of life.

A New Look for a New Year!

Congratulations to Chris Dean and Chris Gibon, our first (and second) IDB grooms of the year. Chris G is getting married in a beautiful local church and Chris D is off to Jamaica to marry in the same place that he proposed...very romantic!

For the rest of us back in the gloomy winter weather, it is time to be looking forward to the New Year, we are keeping our prices steady a bespoke mens pure wool lightweight suit £400 and our beautiful executive wool/cashmere mens bespoke suit for only £440.

While we are on the subject of packing, we must have told many of you about the humble steamer which is a must buy when you invest in good quality clothes. A quick spritz and all creases fall out of your suit, shirt even socks…and as wool suits should only be dry cleaned 2/4 times a year (it dries out the oil in the wool) it will save you a lot of money as well as keep you looking immaculate. Us girls have a handbag for all our bit and bobs, but you guys only have a wallet, and they can often ruin the look of a suit.

Wedding Fever!

One of the great joys of mine and Liz job is dressing bridegrooms!

We seem to have seen a record number this year, with many couples now travelling abroad to tie the knot in a famous city of splendour or exotic beach!

The pleasure of helping them make the right choice of cloth (according to climate) lining (maybe to match bridesmaid colours) the best style, and usually making two shirts to compliment, one for the ceremony and one less formal for the evening fun, is doubled when the groom tries on his new outfit for us on delivery.

Here we are in May looking forward to a warm summer (fingers crossed)!

Liz and I have been up to our neck in shirts if you pardon the pun, and this is why........

Every man looks fantastic in a bright white shirt, crisp, clean and sharp. 'David Cameron' has been one of the best recent example!

If you prefer a softer silkier shirt then 'sea island' cotton is the one for you this summer or maybe a classic poplin or our new range of satin cotton, fabulous to look at and fabulous to wear. With 2 or 3 new ones in your wardrobe you will never be short for work or play this summer.

Colour also has it part to play, plain pale pink/pale blue/lemon or even one of our new soft florals look great under blazers or cool wool summer suits.

When it's warm and jackets are discarded pale or fresh stripes can work wonders too.

So take a few moments to review your shirt wardrobe both for work and socially, never do your shirts come under such scrutiny as they do in the summer season.

Liz and I will help you design them to fit, to be worn with a tie or without, keep you cool and elegant looking. May be even a monogram is in order................... Ascot, Lords, Wimbledon, Henley here we come.

I had a stunning suit made for my wedding day! The basic ideas we had for colour and style were further honed by Sue and Liz to meet our exact needs. I have had numerous shirts from IDB a number of which were chosen by Sue and Liz themselves based on their experience of my style wants, personality and job requirements, and all costing less than a designer high street brand.

The lovely Jeff in response to our last blog sent us this email and pic:-

6'9" of Gorgeousness - a phrase that I have not heard since the days of wandering into Nightclubs after Saturdays on the field. How times flies by. Must say the Jeff Moore specials are wonderful - for a bloke who wears clothes hard, they are extremely durable and look good, either repairing the outboard in Cornwall or at dinner in Le Manoir.

ID shirts are the only shirts I own buy 11 today - I have!!!

PS The jackets are simply superb be it tweeds or blazers.

PPS Thinking about it the dinner jackets are very exceptional too - but so are the suits.

Busy getting Ready for the Sale this Weekend

Well Easter has come and gone and boy have we been busy getting ready for the Sample Sale this weekend and next (10/11 and 17/18 April). As well as organising our amazing special offers on blazers and summer suits.

It is so easy to get summer dressing and grooming wrong! Liz and I are totally agreed (along with most women of taste) that three quarter length trousers, T shirts with slogans, any T shirts unless you are sporting a six pack, too short shorts, too baggy shorts, most short sleeved shirts (with one or two exceptions) are a total and complete no no in the style book.

Shirts should always be of fine cotton long sleeved and rolled up or folded back, trousers such as tropical wool, linen, cotton, chinos and linen jeans (always in dark denim) would be great..........Mens legs should only be seen in the garden and on holiday!

A great summer look is the indispensable blazer, with either a polo shirt, fine wool/linen/silk crew neck, a beautifully cut fine cotton shirt, which can be made with a collar which is not designed for a tie therefore sitting just right within the jacket. We have some fab florals which are bang on trend at the moment, as well as some beautiful linens, plain or striped!,

Have you thought of a collar less shirts for that high summer look! We are thinking of calling them the Jeff Moore Specials as our good friend and another fav client 'Jeff' 6ft 9" of gorgeousness has ordered so many and loves them, god bless him!

We have also made some beautiful tailored shorts, for the lovely Keith, worn on the right occassion or on your boat, they look sharp especially with a pair of trendy deck shoes.

In conclusion we have summer sewn up in IDB World.................Liz and I look forward to seeing you over the next 2 weekends........Just give us a call. and join us for coffee...............may be you will come away with a bargain.

Just back from Rio!

Just back from sunny beautiful Brazil...

The Brazillians are so stylish, despite the 38 degree heat, business man wear beautifully cut suits, shirts and ties, none of this dress down friday stuff and fortunately no American influence where any thing big comfortable and totally inappropriate will do (I do generalize of course!).

The women are just as stylish not too showy, knee length skirts with impeccable cut, by day. But by night, it is quite a different matter!!

I also would have been lost without my steamer...a travel must have, fill with water switch on and of you go ...it's brilliant, perfect for my husbands dinner suit, after a 11 hour flight even the best cloth needs a quick spritz of steam, it also works on shirts and all the lovely fine fabrics like silk etc that us ladies like to wear...I can't recommend them enough!

So if your ever going Rio way give me a shout and I will advise you on your wardrobe and teach you some samba moves!!!!!!!!!!!!

Liz and I were having coffee this morning remembering some of the most memorable suits/outfits we had made!

The one that came to mind was infact a 'one off' jacket we had made for Russell Clements one of our CEO clients. Russ was attending a function and wanted a 'Brian Ferry -esque' jacket. The iconic black sequin one.

Well, as this was more rock star then bespoke tailoring we contacted our friend Kervin of Spitalfield Market who made Russ this fabulous jacket!

Russ was delighted and we thought it looked wicked!!!! Russ is completely addicted to ID Bespoke suits, jackets, and shirts and has brought many from us and we have often had them delivered to whatever part of the world he may be in. Liz and I were happy to go the extra mile for him and I think you can see by Russells face he was delighted too!

One of our favourite clients Brendan Nicholson has been nominated for the Cinema Audio Award (CAS) for outstanding acievement in sound mixing for the HBO drama 'Into the Storm' to be held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel LA.

With absolute pleasure we have just made Brendan a gorgeous dark navy dinner suit and beautiful dress shirt, we even sourced the right tie (he just might win the award for best dressed man!)........we made Brendans wedding suit too which he loved and was a great success, so lets hope for the same success in LA!
