This Valentine’s Day, the Atlantic Video channel is proud to premiere a heart-melting tale of undead romance. In Rest, an American soldier killed in World War I rises from the grave to go in search of his beloved. He travels miles across stunning locations, filmed in Mendocino County, Morongo Valley and New York City. The short film was produced by Sunday / Paper and directed by Cole Schreiber, who discusses the making of the film in a short interview with the Atlantic Video channel.

We’d set the alarm a few minutes early and lie awake in bed, following our thoughts where they lead (with a pen and paper nearby to jot down any evanescent inspirations). We’d stand a little longer under the warm water of the shower, dismissing task-oriented thoughts (“What will I say at that 9 a.m. meeting?”) in favor of a few more minutes of mental dilation. We’d take some deep breaths during our commute instead of succumbing to road rage.
It’s actually cold today, which means it’s time to go get a cup of hot chocolate. The City Bakery (pictured) just started its annual Hot Chocolate Month, with a new flavor each day (today’s is ginger). We’ve also rounded up seven other delicious cups of cocoa. Yum.

They are constructed by a technique of rolling and shaping narrow strips of paper called quilling or paper filigree.

Here lies, old-fashioned as parentheses,
the authoress of verse. Eternal rest
was granted her by earth, although the corpse
had failed to join the avant-garde, of course.
The plain grave? There’s poetic justice in it,
this ditty-dirge, the owl, the burdock. Passerby,
take out your compact Compu-Brain and try
to weigh Szymborska’s fate for half a minute.
