Yippee! Quatum Of Solace Is Released In India Before The US!

Yeah, that's right, the new James Bond movie, Quantum Of Solace, has been released in the UK and India. The movie will be released in rest of the world, including the US, on November 14.

The reason? Well, Daniel Craig feels the movie is a greater hit in India than the United States. The movie was supposed to roll out first in the UK on November 7, but fortunately, India was included, thanks to Daniel Craig. Although Craig hasn't visited India yet, he says it's a vibrant country with a rich culture. And yes, he wishes to act in a Bollywood movie too!

Sorry America, you have to wait! For a change(lol)!

Who was the first James Bond, eh?

This question has been puzzling me and many others. Many say Sean Connery was the first in Casino Royale. But later I found out that there's no such movie with Sean Connery in the lead. Fortunately, my friend got a DVD of the first Casino Royale, which he promptly passed it on to me. Frankly, I didn't understand a thing in the movie. Because there were two James Bonds in it! One was Sir James Bond, played by David Niven, and the other just James Bond played by Peter Sellers.

So, i concluded that the first was David Niven, considering Sir James Bond to be the lead. But later, when I googled for info on the first James Bond, I realised that the first Casino Royale(1954) was aired in the form of episodes on CBS. And guess who was in the lead? Not David Niven, nor Sean Connery. It was Barry Nelson. But he isn't the first to play the role of 007 in a movie.

Sean Connery, David Niven, Peter Sellers, Barry Nelson... So who is it? I would say if your question is, who is the first to enact JamBo, I would say David Niven and Petter Sellers, but if you just ask me, who is the first James Bond, I'd surely say Barry Nelson.

Feels complicated, doesn't it?

Yep, it was released on 26th June, that is, on Thursday. I had actually planned to embed it here, but as I was out of town, I couldn't do it. I hope you've watched it. If not, you can watch it here.

Yippee!! It's all done! It really took some time to change the theme. Now, did I say this was a theme for Wordpress? Yeah, I converted it myself for this blog. It's loaded with images, so I'm trying to put out some of them, as I need to cater to all sorts of viewers.

The header image is not the original one, I made a few changes to it using photoshop. It looks a bit crude, doesn't it?

I faced a few problems of aligning the widgets in their proper places. The left hand side image too wasn't aligning. So, after a few tweaks I managed to solve the problem using the 'clear:both' property.

I'm still testing the theme with several browsers. It seems to be fine in IE and Opera. I hope it works fine with other browsers like Netscape and Firefox. So, if you are using any other browser, and theme isn't looking right, please tell me about it.

May : A Month Full Of Promises

A post is being written after a long long time. I've recieved many mails regarding the posting of content. So, this post is just a sort of a reply to those who wanted to see this blog alive. Well, it has to be May, after 8th May, to be precise. The thing is that, I have my board exams and a host of other competitive exams, for which I have to slug it out. To be frank, I'm findng it difficult to write posts in my other blogs too, and participate in discussions.
After the 8th of May, I'm planning to first change the template to make it more lively, the template will be designed by me. Secondly, I want to add interactivity to this blog. And the last but never the least, content is going to make its way here.

Craig dares to bare it ALL in Bond22 !

Daniel Craig, the new-Bond-on-the-block, is saying that he would bare it all in his next Bond flick which is to be named Bond22. Craig was recently in the news for hitting out against celebrities, who let their personal lives out. He said that he preferred not to reveal his personal life to the troublemakers(media).

Well coming back to his body-baring stuff, he said that in most of the 007 movies, the girls are made to expose themselves. So it seems, Craig wants to extend some professional courtesy. He wants to appear fully nude in Bond22. Well, he was seen semi-nude in his last Bond flick, Casino Royale, where he appeared from the waters in light blue swimming trunks.

Lois Maxwell, the first Moneypenny bids farewell

The first Moneypenny in a James Bond film, Lois Maxwell, died at the age of eighty in Australia. She moved to Australia after she was diagnosed with cancer.

Lois played the role of Moneypenny in fourteen Bond films from 1962 to 1985, which included hits like Dr.No, Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and The Spy Who Loved Me, the last being A View To A Kill alongside Sir Roger Moore.

Born as Lois Hooker in Ontario, Canada, she came to the UK with the Entertainment Corps of the Canadian army at a tender age of 15. She won the Golden-Globe awards for the best newcomer for her part in The Hagen Girl.Sir Roger Moore expressed her death as a rude shock, as reported by the BBC. He also said that she really a great asset for the earlier Bond movies.

Well, although she was attracted to James Bond(needless to say), she never succumbed to his charms. She really played a great role as Moneypenny. I wonder why she wasn't promoted for the role of M, which would have played even better.

Harry Potter humbles James Bond

Bad news for James Bond fans.....Harry Potter has just humbled the record earnings of 22 James Bond movies with only five of them, after the recent hit Harry Potter and The Order Of Phoenix, raked around USD 924 million. The Potter series raked in a record USD 4.47 billion surpassing James Bond's record of USD 4.44 billion as well as Star Wars series (USD 4.23 billion). It sounds party time for The Warner Bros. Productions as two more Potter films are yet to come......

Well, let me defend the MI:6 agent....in the 60s and the 70s, when most of the Bond movies were released, the ticket prices weren't that high, considering the extreme price rise as of today. Then you can imagine the amount earned by the Bond franchise if the movies were released with such high rates.....Potter would be nowhere.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage to be auctioned!

Yes, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, one of the most featured car for Bond films will be auctioned in order to donate the amount to the UNICEF (Chinese division) to initiate road safety awareness programmes. The car was driven by two englishmen- Richard Meredith and Phil Colley who completed a forty nine-day epic journey on 14 August 2007, after travelling through about eighteen countries, to raise awareness and much-needed funds for children’s road safety campaigns in developing countries. The car will be auctioned at Bonhams. The price is expected to be around 50,000 to 60,000 pounds.

Frankly speaking, I really envy a person like James Bond. Ah! All the gear he posseses is really tantalizing. Especially the cars! Then be it the Aston Martin in Die Another Day or the Lotus Espirit in The Spy Who Loved Me. Well, the now the new one seems to be the 2008 Aston Martin DB5. The new model has its usual "refinements" as Q calls it....hmmm he never jokes about his creations. Well this one, apart from the usual machine guns, rockets, oil slicks, tire spikes, has other technologies embeded in it. These include a hidded weapon compartment and life saving equipment.Well these

It seems that James Bond has been voted the best action hero ever. This has been reported by Malaysia Sun. The poll was conducted by a Cruise firm. The British spy climbed to the top against favourites like Superman and The Terminator.

Yeah, Ihave been tracking one of of my favourite Bond actors since weeks. But finally I got the answer.....he relaxing in the European country of Monaco. According to his official website www.roger-moore.com , he will be spending some of his days in Positano, which, according to him is a lovely spot on the Amalfi coast in the month of May. We all wish him a very happy stay in Europe!

Hell! Over two hundred and fifty thousand copies of Casino Royale were downloaded from the internet till now! This is the major setback for Casino royale which has bagged the number one position in the UK with profits of over $80 million. I believe this is the major problem which the entertainment industry is facing with losses running in billions of dollars. According to news reports, the first bootlegged copy came from Russia, then Italy. But the quality of the video and audio was not good. It seems that somebody recorded the entire movie on a camcorder. I have heard that such copies are called as "CamRips".

OO7 movies are titled mostlty on the basis of their themes or stories or any specific dialogue. But this one is certainly an exception. Actually I watched this movie a number of times to get any link between the title and the story. Although rated as one of the best Bond movies, the most disappointing thing I personally feel is its title. The only valid reason might be that the Russian Major falls in love with Mr.Bond even when she finds out that he is the assassin of her former lover. What do you think about this title? Craig Earns Top Honours!

Daniel Craig has earned top honours at the British Film Awards of the BFA. These are one of the most prestigious film awards. He has also been nominated for Best Actor in the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards. He will go against the likes of Forest Whitaker(for The Last King of Scotland )and Leonardo DiCaprio(for Blood Diamond) for the BAFTA award, which will be given out this Sunday, February 11, 2007.

The Many Faces Of Mr.Bond -- Who's NEXT?

Since the 1960s James Bond movies and the actors have been tantalizing us with their moves and thrills. Many Bonds came and went, some were hit, some were not. Starting with Sean Connery, till Daniel Craig, all the Bonds created their impressions on our mind. I personally find Roger Moore and George Lazenby to be worthy of the OO7 title (that doesn't mean that the others don't!). I feel their stature, voice(the perfect male voice) were the best suited for the perfect OO7. After Pierce Brosnan offered his resignation as OO7, the tough task of choosing the best bond came up. Many actors came under the scanner including Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, out of which Daniel Craig was the chosen one. At first, critics bombarded with their criticism, especially, after Daniel broke his jaw during a stunt, but that only promoted his ratings and Casino Royale was the secondmost profitable movie after Pirates of the Caribbean : The Dead Man's Chest. The question arises that who will be the next? George Clooney? or Nicholas Cage? or Tom Hanks? or Tom Cruise?.......The question still remains a question....

Peter Lamont had been nominated for an Art Director’s Guild award for his work on the 21st official James Bond film, Casino Royale. Lamont won the award during the 11th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards ceremony, which took place on 15 February.
