This is one of my all time favorite by James Macari. I love everything about it. The styling is amazing.

Pre Fall 09: Zac Posen

Konichiwa! First I want to greet everyone belated Happy Holidays. I haven’t blog for a while…a long time, make that 2 months. I have been really busy with school. We just finished our exam so that’s great. I will try to blog more regularly from now on.

Zac Posen is one of my favorite designers and his Pre Fall collection was all glamour. The models paraded in beautifully fitted trumpet skirts, leopard dresses and trenches, knit dresses, fringe dresses and stunning gowns. The collection embodied the 40’s.

But… I think the collection is a bit inconsistent. The color palette doesn’t match and there’s too much elements in the collection. The only binding element is the styling.

Leggings, leggings and more leggings

I was browsing Style and I came through one of their post about leggings, so I want to make one too (I have a fashion blogger blackout this week haha).

But seriously I think that leggings are the most versatile wardrobe piece ever. You can wear it with anything… pants, dresses, shorts; the list goes on and on. And it’s really comfortable. I personally prefer it more than pants. It just has this very casual, effortless and chic look. It’s like saying “I did not really think too much about what I’m wearing, I’m just really fabulous.”

Hello everyone I just came back yesterday from out camping trip.

I know that I said that I'll be only out for a week but things changed. Living without any electronic gadgets was not as hard as I thought it would be. The first two days were though but there's a lot of activities there so you really will not get bored.

You can really appreciate the simple things when you don't have a lot...

Spring 2009: Elie Saab (Paris Fashion Week)

I don’t think that there is a better dress designer than Elie Saab. He really knows how to do elegant and sexy but effortless at the same time. The Spring 2009 RTW collection is so soft, feminine, swingy, sexy and chic.

Every piece in the collection was stunning. Everything was immaculately made. The embroidery, draping and hem fold was beautiful. You should always be either standing or walking though to show off the movement of the designs.

Spring 2009: Isabel Marant (Paris Fashion Week)

Chain wrapped suede boots, tiered ruffle mini dresses, denim shorts and jackets, quilted minis, plaid pants and boleros, lace dresses and tops and slouchy pants made up the Isabel Marant Spring 2009 collection. The western inspired collection has all the elements of a chic, cowgirl. Every piece in the collection is extremely wearable.

Over all the collection was country with a rock n’ roll vibe.

Spring 2009: John Galiano (Paris Fashion Week)

John Galliano definitely knows how to put a production. The lighting, make up, hair, clothes… everything is spectacular. But his 2009 Spring collection, still dramatic, was more practical, more commercial and more “ready to wear” but still has that Galliano touch. The inspiration was the 18^th century illustrator James Gillray.

The first few models were wearing a marabou cap with gold chain strap channeling their inner British Royal Guard and the following models were wearing a variety of colored pieces, ranging from overblown white and yellow “clown” to straight and spiky pink.

The collection was a mixture of tailored pieces- military inspired jackets, coat, and apple green dress and ethereal dresses. The washed-out watercolor print trend is also present in the collection.

Spring 2009: Lanvin (Paris Fashion Week)

Thanks to the voluminous clothes on the LANVIN Spring 2009 collection, Alber Elbaz proves that volume is not only flattering but also chic. Some of the clothes wear made in duchesse satin, leopard-spot print, gazar and cloque. The drapings on dresses were stunning. The structured, almost geometric blue dress did not hit it for me it’s pretty “interesting”.

Spring 2009: Stella McCartney (Paris Fashion Week)

Stella McCartney makes clothes that you want to wear but you may need to put down the chocolates for weeks if you are going to wear her 2009 collection. Her collection was body conscious at the very least, it looked fantastic though.

She is following the feminine-masculine look; pairing tailored blazer with white sweetheart neckline dresses, tailored jumpsuits and slouchy sweaters with embroiders tops. My favorite pieces were the tranparents and sweetheart neckline dresses.

Spring 2009: Jean Paul Gaultier (Paris Fashion Week)

Jean Paul Gaultier’s RTW Spring 2009 collection show was definitely a scene. The show started and finished with a trio of professional dancers. The dance-inspired collection was definitely different from the other Spring 2009 collection but also the same in the sense that he also used sheer fabrics, which are really popular this season.

The models were in this really tight nylon wrap and black eyeliner make up focusing on the eyes and eyebrows. The dance theme was carried throughout in the shoes, the models were wearing satin wrap shoes that were reminiscent to a ballet pointe shoes. And in some of the looks, the models were carrying a chain mail bags.

The show was a mix of jersey swimsuits and capes, pin stripe suits, wide leg pants, sheer sun dresses with fur wraps and lace dresses. He explained, "To me, clothes on a hanger are simply still lives. It's only when someone wears them that they come alive. Here, the idea was to create clothes that have several uses. You can go for a swim, you can also go out and it turns into a dress."

Innerwear as an outerwear was also an element in the collection. The colors ranged from chartreuse yellow to black.

Spring 2009: Christian Dior (Paris Fashion Week)

It’s Paris Fashion Week!

Christian Dior is known for drama and glamour, his Spring 2009 collection was no exception. The theme was “Tribal chic”. The models were wearing a Nefertiti inspired piece and were in three looks, the more the show progress the more dramatic the makeup become.

There were tons of dresses- flippy skirts and waist cinching bodice. The dresses were mostly sheer fabrics and animal spots print. The collection also showed leather and python jackets.

Spring 2009: Versace (Mialn Fashion Week)

Hearts, hearts and more hearts.

Majority of the pieces on Donatella Versace’s Spring 2009 collection was accented with a zipper heart. But the hearts was limited in the clothes, there were also heart accents in the jewelries and shoes.

I don’t think that I can say more about the collection other than it was stunning.

Spring 2009: Alessandro Dell'Acqua (Milan Fashion Week)

A hodgepodge of knits, sequence, and sheer fabrics came out during Alessandro Dell'Acqua’s Spring 2009 collection. I’m really not sure what the inspiration was. It looked a bit 70’s flower child inspired because of the silhouettes and the color scheme.

I really liked the cashmere knits, especially the off-the shoulder dress. You can see some of the Milan Fashion Week staples — fringes (flapper dresses) and embellished panels (day coat).

“My DNA, at the end, is sensuality, and I am not able to mask it, so I worked with it in a more understated way,” said Alessandro Dell’Acqua. The collection definitely reflected that statement.

Spring 2009: Bottega Veneta (Milan Fashion Week)

BOTTEGA VENETA Spring 2009 collection designed by Tomas Maier was refined but youthful at the same time. The color scheme was from rich brown to sandy beige. The show showcased; leather dresses, tops and skirts, jumpsuits, jersey skirts and tops, striped pantsuits and silk shirt dresses.

The leather pieces were a definite counterpoint to the softer, more delicate chiffon dresses. The ornate jewelries and stunning bags added a certain refinement to the collection.

Spring 2009: Moschino Cheap & Chic (MIlan Fashion Week)

Milan Fashion Week just started everyone!

Is there a fashion label more playful, cheeky and whimsical than MOSCHINO CHEAP AND CHIC? I can’t think of any. Rossella Jardini’s Spring collection was no exception.

Gleaming fabrics with washed-out water color prints in bright spring colors is the color scheme throughout the collection. Bows in the shoes and some of the bags added a youth to collection while over sized beanies added a flower-child vibe. There was tie-dye, polka dots, globe prints, bunny prints and butterfly prints. The collection may sound muddled but it was actually pretty cohesive.

There were sequin and lace dresses, tiered dresses, printed tunic dresses, quilted chiffon coat, coral pants and slouchy shorts. As the song in the show goes, it was “FUN, FUN, FUN”.

Spring 2009: Ashish (London Fashion Week)

ASHISH GUPTA stayed true to his signature sequin look and handcrafted pieces with a twist in his Spring 2009 RTW collection. Balancing sequined dresses and tops with a more grungy army jackets and cut-out denim shorts.

The models came out with an intense black eye makeup balanced with more subdued lips. The models were wearing angel wings and Ashish initial letter “A” necklaces and gold angel wings shoes.

His masculine/feminine collection also showed slouchy pants, sequined shorts and deck of cards dresses, and embroidered denim jackets and shorts… And did I say anything about the pin buttons?!

Ashish made his London Fashion Week debut in 2004 and has won the New Generation award three times!

Spring 2009: Erdem (London Fashion Week)

It’s a lace explosion!

Erdem Moralioglu traveled all the way to France (court of Louis XVI and Claude Monet’s garden in Giverny) for inspiration and it was worth it! (I’m not saying going to France is a chore.) His Spring 2009 collection is breathtaking. Every piece was utterly delicate, soft and romantic. His first look, the tiered powder blue French lace dress is a perfect example.

The dresses were done in either washed-out watercolor printed silk, French lace or toile de Jouy fabrics and other dresses were showered with sparkling jewels.

Spring 2009: Basso & Brooke (London Fashion Week)

What happens when fashion meets art? BASSO AND BROOKE SPRING 2009! Every piece is just precious!

The winners of Fashion Fringe 2004 who are known for their use of graphic prints and use of vibrant color definitely stayed true to themselves. Japan being the inspiration definitely suited them with its rich culture and art.

The delicate pleating made a simple jersey dress made it more special and the stunning obi belts completed the look in the other pieces.

Although I’m not a fan of the flat tops and will not be sporting the look anytime soon, over all the collection was amazing. Each piece is beautiful; it was embroidered, beaded or even detailed with some Swarovski crystals.

Spring 2009: Aquascutum (London Fashion Week)

It’s the third day of London fashion Week and today it’s all about AQUASCUTUM. It was a marriage of white and blue. The collection was full of sophistication. The target market is definitely “young” professional women.

This is the last season that Fidler and Herz are working together on the collection. Herz will continue to work on the women’s collection, while Fidler will dedicate himself to Aquascutum's men’s wear collection.

Still in London Fashion week, the featured collection today is TEMPERLEY LONDON SPRING 2009.

Temperley London returned to London after 3 years of showing in New York. The collection has A LOT of inspiration. The collection was a bit confused – Grecian dresses, harem pants, studded belts and ruffles. But I still like the collection but not as a “collection”, if that make sense.

From New York Fashion Week, let’s go to London Fashion Week.

TOPSHOP UNIQUE SPRING 2009 is my favorite today. I love the 80’s inspired collection. The 80’s inspired collection is a breath of fresh air from the collections of the other designers.

Although I will not start wearing shoulder pads, I might start wearing acid washed jeans… or not.

Spring 2009- Zac Posen

First of all it’s my birthday! I’m finally 18, I’m getting old!

So one of my favorite designers, ZAC POSEN, showed his Spring 2009 collection and he did not disappoint. The show was full of glamour, from big metallic chandelier earrings to the sequined dresses.
What I did not like in the collection was the padding underneath the first dress. It just did not look good…

Spring 2009: MILLY by Michelle Smith

My favorite collection today is Milly by Michelle Smith spring 2009. The collection was all things bohemian. It was definitely boho chic.

My favorite piece?

This one: I know that it’s a very simple dress and not as complicated as the other pieces but it’s lace! I love lace!

Psychedelic shades, billowing peasant dresses, crochet beanies, chunky jewelries, sheer caftans and tie dyes dominated the Moroccan influenced collection.

It was not all breezy, flowing pieces though. There were also some tailored pieces. But true to Smith’s aesthetic, all pieces were ultra feminine- even the tailored one’s.

Even though the 60’s boho look had been done over and over again before I still love Smith’s collection. It was not that innovative but I think I going to leave innovation to the future winners of Project Runway…

Spring 2009 (09/08)

Hello to all of the fabulous people reading my blog. I did not have any post for a couple of days because of school but I promise that I will be posting at least every 2 days.

So it’s the fashion season again and so far my favorite is MISS SIXTY (09/07).

It’s stunning! I just love the contrast of textures and patterns. The collection has everything, form striped knee socks and graphic tees to silk jumpsuits and plaid dress.
