1) Do schools in the hood just go all year long now, to cut down on property crime?

2) I saw an article about this the other day, before they had the video. Presumably, they tracked down the kid who shot it and cut him a check. If they didn't, he got screwed. How bad would it suck if he turned over the video to the police, and the police just gave it to the TV news, or worse, charged the TV news to run it, the way 5-0 and hospitals in LA sell information to TMZ?

3) I'd go to places where something ignorant is likely to happen, camera at the ready, to try to sell video to the evening news, but with my luck I'd probably just end up getting shot.

4) You can tell the mother is willing to sacrifice for her child because she had to wear a hat indoors for this segment, while the daughter has more hair than she's genetically capable of generating.

5) The same thing happened to me back in like '96. The class across the hall was watching the early '80s-era miniseries Shogun (Asian people's equivalent of Roots), while the class I was in was stuck "learning about shit." I wanted to simply get up, leave the class I was in, go into the other classroom and watch the video, but I didn't, because I didn't think I was allowed to. I didn't understand my rights as a student.

6) When the guy from the local TV news asks you how you felt when you saw the video of a teacher attacking your child, you're not supposed to respond that "it made me want to fight the guy," even if it really did make you want to fight the guy. That just makes you look like the kind of person who goes around getting into fights with people, which would suggest that you raise your child that way and that she's therefor somehow ultimately at fault for this. At least pretend to have some sense on TV.

7) My mom is, in many ways, a deeply obnoxious person, but she's not the kind of black mother who would stand behind her child regardless of what he did. You see these women on the evening news about once a week. Their son shot someone, and they're there to ensure us that he really is a good kid, it's just the crowd of kids he fell in with. Defending your daughter for provoking a fight with her teacher is the female equivalent of that. If my mother believed in me to that extent, I feel like I would have gone further in life.

8) To her credit, it doesn't look like the girl attacked the guy physically before he attacked her. Supposedly, there was something that took place before the camera started rolling, and 5-0 is considering pressing charges against both the teacher and the student. But how could she have assaulted him, if she was sitting down at the beginning of this clip?

9) Regardless of who really started it, they only got the part where the teacher did something wrong on tape, and that of course should be the linchpin of her defense. At the very least, a semi-competent lawyer should be able to have any charges against her tossed out, but she might also want to see about suing the district for any neck injuries she may have received getting pushed into that desk, not to mention the damage to her reputation from this appearing on TV (the fact that she willingly participated notwithstanding, making her seem like a ridiculous person just because she wanted to get up and go watch movies in another classroom, plus court costs and punitive damages.

10) If I were the teacher, I'd try to argue that what I did there was not assault. Those are the kinds of things you do to a woman when you're hoping to not have to assault her. You see what I just did to that desk? Are you really gonna try to bumrush me while I'm standing in the way of you trying to leave the class to go watch Voyage of the Mimi on laserdisc or whatever it is kids watch at school these days? I'm sure the teachers union has some sort of rule written into the contract about how and when you're allowed to physically restrain a student. His career might not be over just yet.

Fresh off the release of his acclaimed new album "Legends Never Die", R.A. The Rugged Man is unveiling the most highly-anticipated video off the project. "Holla-Loo-Yuh" features two iconic emcees uniting, as R.A. is joined by Tech N9ne, with fellow Strange Music emcee Krizz Kaliko on the hook. While R.A. and Tech have run in the same circles for over a decade, the all-out lyrical slaughter of "Holla-Loo-Yuh" marks their historic first-ever collaboration. "Legends Never Die" is R.A.'s long-awaited new album, and also features appearances from the likes of Hopsin, Brother Ali, Talib Kweli, Vinnie Paz, Masta Ace, Sadat X, Eamon, and more.

Former employees filing a lawsuit against Paula Deen claim that she tells racist jokes on the reg and that she once went to a slavery-themed restaurant.

The part about the racist jokes:

“It’s just what they are — they’re jokes … most jokes are about Jewish people, rednecks, black folks … I can’t determine what offends another person,” a source quoted Deen as saying.

“I mean, it was really impressive. That restaurant represented a certain era in America … after the Civil War, during the Civil War, before the Civil War … It was not only black men, it was black women … I would say they were slaves,” she said, describing the restaurant.

I'd add that she's trying to kill the unemployed black people who make up the entirety of her audience with those butter-laden recipes.

Serena Williams doesn't have to worry about getting raped, because her legs are so powerful.

Here's what she said about Steubenville in Rolling Stone:

We watch the news for a while, and the infamous Steubenville rape case flashes on the TV—two high school football players raped a 16-year-old, while other students watched and texted details of the crime. Serena just shakes her head. “Do you think it was fair, what they got? They did something stupid, but I don’t know. I’m not blaming the girl, but if you’re a 16-year-old and you’re drunk like that, your parents should teach you—don’t take drinks from other people. She’s 16, why was she that drunk where she doesn’t remember? It could have been much worse. She’s lucky. Obviously I don’t know, maybe she wasn’t a virgin, but she shouldn’t have put herself in that position, unless they slipped her something, then that’s different.”

And here's her apology:

“What happened in Steubenville was a real shock for me. I was deeply saddened. For someone to be raped, and at only sixteen, is such a horrible tragedy! For both families involved - that of the rape victim and of the accused. I am currently reaching out to the girl’s family to let her know that I am deeply sorry for what was written in the Rolling Stone article. What was written - what I supposedly said - is insensitive and hurtful, and I by no means would say or insinuate that she was at all to blame.

I have fought all of my career for women’s equality, women’s equal rights, respect in their fields - anything I could do to support women I have done. My prayers and support always goes out to the rape victim. In this case, most especially, to an innocent sixteen year old child.”
