During our vacation period, I went out with some of my blogger friends and had a sumptuous lunch at Fish & Co! So let’s take a look at their latest menu!

And soooo… after taking a look at the menu, some of you might be wondering, why the Student Sets also serve other non-fish items, such as Chicken Burger & Chips? This is because, they have received some feedback from their customers like us, who also want to have a different meal or choice of food instead of fish or seafood!

For us as students, their student meals are at $6.95 nett! and its only available on weekdays till 6pm. So no matter what time is your lunch or breaktime, you can just simply head down from your school, or for me, SP to Clementi Mall and enjoy great food at low prices! GOOD DEAL isn’t it?

The Fried Boneless Chicken tasted really great, although it was kinda hard at certain areas, but its really nice with the mashed potato!

Look at what was being served! A fish that is deep fried till its crispy at the outside and so soft that it melts in your mouth at the very first bite! With fries to go along with the meal, its really delicious!

Sea Dog

Well, you guys would normally have a hot dog or sausage with some bread and make it into a hot dog bun. But have you tried before Sea Dog? That is made up of seafood, which is mainly fish? The sea dog itself tasted really nice since it is really crispy. However, it didn’t taste that well with the bun. Was abit disappointing. Well. Maybe next time you can try it without the bun

Chicken with Peri Peri Sauce

Yummy tasty peri peri sauce which is kinda sweet, sour and abit spicy that goes really well with the chicken which is so tender! The whole group of bloggers who went there all liked this dish!

Well, a burger has never been in Fish & Co’s menu! Seems it is the first appearance of the dish in the menu!

Well. All in all, it has been a great lunch gathering with the rest of the bloggers! Thanks to Sheena and Joey for the invite!

And this gave rise after the National Day where the theme for this year is “The Majulah Spirit” and National Day Rally where PM Lee spoke about putting Singaporean’s interest first. So what are we really looking at, a unique Singapore Identity, where the nation and its citizens bring out the pride of Singapore, and where the government helps its citizens.

Nation Pride Showcase Event at PARCO

Just before National Day, on the 5th of Aug, Jed (@sen2701) took me to the Nation Pride Event at PARCO Millenia Walk. Over there, were displays presented by famous deisngers, where it commemorate local pride with an art-meets-retail 10 day shopping event titled Nation Pride- Home. This is their second year and the celebrations look set to be even bigger.

Nation Pride 2011 featured homegrown products from our very own Singaporean talents, and the art-meet-retail installation will be packed with fashion, music, books, spa products, art and photography buys.

The items that were on display are Nation Pride-inspired Tees designed by guest designers Kenny Lim and Andrew Loh (DEPRESSION), Frederick Lee (Frederick Lee), JR Chan (JASON), Keith Png (KOOPS), Max Tan (max.tan), Alfie Leong (Mu), Nic Wong & Daniel Loh (SATURDAY). Some of the designs were really great, especially for Keith Png’s design where it was simple, and clean.

You might be wondering why Jed wrote #AnotherHome on the Signature Wall. So what’s the Another Home Video about?

The rationale behind AnotherHome is to give everyone a another perspective towards the song, ‘Home’, and towards Singapore: Our Home that you will never forget.’ and the purpose of this music video is to celebrate Singapore’s National Day in a different way.

In this video, you will see epic sense such as Maid carrying army bag, Singapore General elections rally, Bear appear from nowhere and different kind of occupation available in Singapore!

In the midst of all the preparation for my End of Semester Exams and all that stressful work! It’s coming to an end. So other than studying, you guys must be wondering what have I been up to. It’s Marigold Peel Fresh 25th Anniversary this year, and a group of G+ Bloggers and I headed down to the Peel Fresh Birthday Bash at Butter Factory last Saturday!

Marigold Peel Fresh is fresh at 25! Congrats to Peel Fresh who had turned 25th this year. Those at the party were 98.7FM DJ’s, Fresh Face Design Contest Winners and invited guests by Peel Fresh and 987 listeners! The 987 DJs where there to hype up the event and the atmosphere of the party was great. The highlights of the Peel Fresh Party includes the dance performances, game segment of peel fresh dance challenge, and prize presentation to the 12 contest winners of their peel fresh designs. Last but not least, the cake cutting of Peel Fresh 25th birthday cake!

Through my twitter, some of you might have know that I went down to *SCAPE for the Opening Ceremony for SHINE Youth Festival 2011! It was an real hot Sunday afternoon, but this didn’t stop all the other 12,000 youths like me from being at the event! This is the first time that I “celebrated” Youth Day, since Youth Day was never a public holiday, and after being in Poly for 3 years, I have never enjoyed my Youth Day.

Being early, I was able to visit the Flea Market and also watch the Jai-Ho dance performance that was previously also performed at the MoveMove Singapore event that I blogged about previously!

While HP went away to have lunch with 2 secret dates pretty girls, William and I went over to watch the Singapore Street Festival Highlights performance at the *SCAPE Warehouse, which presented a multicultural heritage of ethnic fusion mix and pop program, as part of the festivities at the launch of SHINE Youth Festival 2011.

Let’s take a look at other interesting photos along with exciting happenings on that day!

The Cosmo Youth Parade started at about 6pm, where the flag off was done by Mr Yam Ah Mee, Chief Executive Director of People’s Association. The Youth Parade consisting of 1,000 cosplayers, marched from Orchard central all the way to the *SCAPE Open Area, where Shine Youth Festival Party held. Here’s some photos of the parade, and looking at those excited faces of these cosplayers, I bet that they are all geared up to be the character that they have dressed up to be!

After the Cosmo Youth Parade, I managed to take some photos with some of the Mascots and cosplayers!

This year, National Youth Council has made the SHINE Youth Festival at *SCAPE with so much fun and interesting programs lineups! Really enjoyed myself at the event! I’m sure most of other participants will feel that same way! I’m really glad to see so many youths and other audiences having fun and enjoying themselves, irregardless of their age, which is so encouraging, and it shows that anyone can be youthful!

Likewise, to promote more young talent in Singapore, SHINE Youth Festival had also given everyone an opportunity to showcase their skills and talents regardless performing and non-performing, as long as ‘You want to do, you want to fulfill’ then, “Enough Talk, Just do it.” SHINE your face and talent to the whole world and tell yourself, you had success it!

SHINE 2011, happening at *SCAPE on 2nd Jul!

SHINE Youth Festival will be back this year, on 2nd July 2011, where youths like us, having an opportunity to celebrate and showcase our talents! At the media conference at *SCAPE Warehouse on 22 Jun, Mr. Martin Tan (Chairperson of SHINE 2011 Steering Committee) and Mr.Eric Chua (Co-Chairperson of SHINE 2011 Organizing Committee), shared with all the various media and press journalists about the plans for SHINE and what will be happening at *SCAPE on the 2 Jul.

“July is the month for youths—the month for SHINE. SHINE is about encouraging youths to adopt the “Enough Talk Just do” attitude. The online platform is the preferred platform to act on amongst youths, therefore we pursued their idea of bringing SHINE to Facebook without hesitation,” said Mr Martin Tan, Chairman of SHINE 2011 Steering Committee.

SHINE 2011 will be the biggest party for youth and youth organisations in Singapore, as it will be the first-ever multi-decked concept party with 13 activities, throughout the whole building. In addition, the party is also extended out of *SCAPE, with a COSMO Mascot Parade, a launch concert at Playspace @ *SCAPE, Singapore Street Festival festivities, and many more. Local artistes will be also performing at night concert, featuring Derrick Hoh, Jack and Rai, Tay Kewei and Juz-B. Admission of this concert is free for all.

As a part of the media conference, the organisers showcased the key-highlights and programmes which will be happening on 2 Jul.

Let’s have a sneak preview of it!

First up, we have the SHINE 2011 Concert Preview by the award-winning Acapella and beat-box group, Juz-B, these guys are really cool and talented as they performed just by beat-boxing and not any other instruments or with any background music. Just with the 5 of them, they produced drum beats, dee-jay spinning tracks and musical sounds using their mouth, lips, tongue and vocals! Simply impressive.

Next up, The Roses, a hip-hop group, who will be performing and singing at the same time at the Singapore Street Festival 2011! These 4 young talented girls have demonstrated and showcased their dance passion through the energy and vibrancy of the performance on stage.

Don’t be frightened when you see monsters or manga characters walking pass you at Orchard Road on that day itself! As part of the COSMO Youth Parade, 1,000 youths will be dressing up like their favourite characters and will be cosplaying from Orchard Central Mall, all the way down to *SCAPE! The theme of this year’s COSMO Youth Parade is named “Cosplay I Luv”, where Cosplayers are encouraged to loudly display your love for animation, gaming and TV characters though this event.

If you feel like dressing up too, but do not have the appropriate costumes, don’t worry and just head down to the event venue, the organisers have prepared 400 beginner-friendly costumes for you to get involved and experience this unique cosplaying culture!

The Big Groove (TBG), is the most widely anticipated hip-hop dance convention, organised by O School Ltd. Into its 6th year now, TBG returns with the new theme “Year of the Heroes”, to celebrate and honour dance talents who are the “superheroes” that have battled through their challenges and achieved their dreams after years of hard work. Reputable heroes of the dance world such as Maryss from Paris (The Beat Freaks), Dominique and Yokoi (Wrecking Chew Orchestra) will be part of the Master Class Workshops (6 – 9 Jul 2011) and also perform for the TBG Showcase Finale, happening on the 10 Jul 2011.

Feeling all hyped up-ed and excited, but at the same time feel that you are abit too old for this, fret not! You are still young as the age range is from 15 to 35 years old. The purpose of this Shine Youth Festival is to gather all the youth in Singapore together at one place and celebrate with the youth passion spirits.

Other highlights of SHINE 2011 includes the inaugural Street*SCAPE, Raw 2 Da Floor, Hip Hop Conference, Art Park, Sambiesta and its regular *SCAPE Magic Carnival. At the *SCAPE Magic Carnival, Singapore’s renowned Comedy Magician, Kiki Tay will be putting up a great show in the *SCAPE Warehouse with fun-filled action-packed magical performance. Beside that, it also provides young talents a platform to showcase their craft.

Last but not least, do also participate in SHINE’s specially-designed Facebook game – “power2shine”. Gamers have to overcome obstacles, challenges and zombies to gain the power to SHINE! Last Week, I went down to *SCAPE to check out the flea market there, and to also see the MoveMove Singapore FlashMob Dance Preview at Cathay Cineleisure! HAHA! This is my very first time watching a LIVE FLASHMOB DANCE. Normally you would see a flashmob where people start freezing when the music is playing. However, its so different this time round. Now, I shall let the pictures/photos do the talking…

Last Week, I went for a food tasting session at Bishan Junction 8 RamenPlay outlet. Upon entering the outlet, the ambience was really pleasant as the design and layout of the shop is clean and simple with soothing background music.

So yeah. How does the Student Special Set Meal works?

Firstly, you have choose your main course. Mustard Chicken Fried Rice or the Tonkotsu Ramen!

For me, I chose the Tonkotsu Ramen dish.

Secondly, you can have a choice of soft drinks or Ice Lemon Tea! For me, I had Green Tea, which is not part of the choice, and here’s the inside joke. Cos I was having like 6 cups of Green Tea over there, and guess what. That became a total joke among my group of blogger friends. LOL!

Finally, place your order and wait for you food!

That’s not all that RamenPlay offers!

Apart from the Student Special Set Meal Promotion, there are side dishes that you can choose! The side dishes that we had were Yaki Gyoza, which is a veggie dumpling which is commonly known in Chinese as Jiao Zi, which is crispy and really yummy!

Next up, we had one of their “Signature Sides” which is Crispy Dango. It is a crispy golden brown minced chicken balls that are fried in high temperature to make it really crispy with some really delicious sauces that is on top of it!

Last week, Nuffnang invited some Glitterati Plus (G+) bloggers to the Spice Brasserie Buffet at ParkRoyal Hotel Singapore!
At Spice Brasserie, it offers over 60 selections ranging from signature dishes, sashimi and popular local delicacies.

On different days, it has different themes for its menu, so as for us, we went there on a Tuesday, and it was serving its Thai food menu. Having said that, the restaurant has created a special atmosphere where it has a unique blend of Thai and Japanese environment, and the restaurant serves traditional Thai Food, Japanese Sushi, Thai Tea, Famous Teochew porridge and desserts.

So, How’s the looks of the food? Well, in general, the appetizers and the food looks yummy. To add on, the Thai chef of the restaurant has took additional effort in carving out the fruits into unique shape to enhance your appetite, as well as to create a better ambience for all diners in the restaurant.

As for the cost of having such a delicious buffet, the price of the buffet ranges from $27++ to $55++. The prices varies if you are having a lunch and dinner buffet, and it also differs for weekends and weekdays. Overall, it was a great dining experience at the Spice Brasserie Buffet Restaurant in ParkRoyal Hotel Singapore. Do head down to their restaurant and savour these tasty main course as well as their dessert servings!

This event made me recall my ITAB Powerpoint Project Work that I have done in Year 1, where I chose the topic of Environment, and I made a Powerpoint Presentation on Clean and Green Singapore and ways to keep Singapore Clean and Green!

Back to the carnival. The litter muchers “Design-A-Bin” contest is to basically design the bins to encourage people  to trash the litters and not dump them on the floor. Not forgetting, these bins also beautify our environment! So, Let us now take a look at the wonderful designs by the creative designers/winners!

These winners do get great prizes which includes the all new Apple iPad, Sony Digital Camera and Sony MP3 players! Of course, by getting the gold prize, you get more stuffs, both the iPad and the MP3 player! Cool uh!

So yeah, The Gold Prize winner of the Litter Munchers Bin Design Contest go goes to Miss Tess Moh from NUS! Here’s the photo that G+ bloggers took with her! The bin that she design was a simplistic design done using Black and White, which was impressive. To me, the design illustrates that a Singapore would be just a Black and White city if litters are not being contained and dumped in the bins!

We also took a photo with Edmund Chen, the local celebrity who is also the NEA Cleanliness Ambassador, Edmund Chen!

Yeap. Went out with nuffnang peeps to the Gala Premier of TRON: Legacy 3D at Cathay cineleisure.

REVIEW and thoughts about the movie preview…

Generally, I felt that the 23 minutes trailer plot amazed me with some new idea and revolutionary game play which is being transformed from a 2D simple car game, to a realistic game play which involved the participants actual “life” where the players are supposed to stay alive. The movie was a enjoyable 3D movie with great soundtracks!
