			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Why Meditate</strong>? Why is <strong>Yoga &amp; Meditation</strong> so important to your personal development? If you live in the material world, and as a consequence your mind lives in the material world, then nothing exists but matter, which is thought, which makes up the content of your consciousness. If the mind lives there, then there must be fear, stress and anxiety, because there is nothing else in the material world but the search for material security, pleasure and permanence. Where there is this requirement or demand placed upon us, then there must be fear, stress and anxiety. So then what is one to do about it? How can we move away from this existence where fear, stress and anxiety are permanent fixtures, towards a life of total freedom, joy and tranquility?<span id="more-1606"></span></p>
<p>To understand what to do we must go into the question of meditation. <strong>What is Meditation? Why Meditate?</strong></p>
<p>Meditation means the emptying of the content of consciousness. Only then can the mind be totally quiet. And ones mind must be totally quiet to free up the energy necessary to see clearly without the illusions of the mind. So let&#8217;s explore this statement further. How do you empty the content of consciousness?</p>
<p>By consciousness we refer to our awareness as a human being of our environment and to all of our experiences, including our thoughts and dreams. Our awareness of our self.</p>
<p>We look at the mountains, the lake, the sky, and we marvel at their beauty. And we recognize this beauty because we have experienced the beauty of the mountains in the past. This recognition can only exist because we have some relationship to it in the past.</p>
<p>We have had experiences of every kind, and thought always demands more and better experiences, including experiencing other states of mind, or of other dimensions. We are fed up with the narrow and limited experiences of life, they are boring and senseless, so we look for the limitless, for the supreme consciousness.</p>
<p>The mind wants to experience this. But to recognize it, it must have already experienced it. So a problem persists, because what one thinks is the limitless or the supreme consciousness is just a further projection of thought.</p>
<p>So we accumulate a lifetime of experiences and thoughts, and these experiences and thoughts become us. We are the accumulation of a lifetime of experiences and thoughts.</p>
<p>Meditation is that state where there is no experience, where there is no element of time, of the past or future, where there is no sense of self. This implies no desires or searching for some state of security, of pleasure, or super-consciousness or whatever, because these all occur in the future, and are therefor of time. Being of time, these thoughts, all thoughts are limited, prisoners of the function of time. Being limited, thoughts must be discarded to ever know a state beyond time. A state beyond the mundane.</p>
<p>Meditation is the state where the mind is empty of time, and will and desire. Which implies the ending of all thought. Which implies the ending of the division of the self from everything else. You are one with everything. There is no longer a me and you, or a this or that. All division is gone.</p>
<p>So <strong>Why Meditate</strong>, because through <strong>Yoga &amp; Meditation</strong> you can find direct relationship and perception with what is, complete awareness of everything that is happening in the present moment. Not awareness clouded by past experiences and your desires for future experiences or by your sense of self. You become empty of all of this. You have then emptied the content of your consciousness. Only then can you hope to achieve any everlasting peace and prosperity. Only then can you be free of pain and suffering, and find total freedom.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Our minds are active all of the time. Creating thought after thought, linked together to fashion what we refer to as <strong>mental thought chains</strong>. These thought chains are the culmination of your interaction with the environment, both internal and external. If left in their uncontrolled state, thought chains, can be very unproductive and detrimental to your overall mental and physical health. The main reason people start meditating and practicing Yoga is because they don&#8217;t like the thoughts in their head. So the problem is that we are inundated with thoughts that we don&#8217;t want to have anymore and we don&#8217;t know how to stop them from happening.</p>
<p>These unproductive mental thought chains, the connection of one thought after another, after another, often cause:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>increased levels of      stress,</strong></li>
<li><strong>reduced energy levels,</strong></li>
<li><strong>reduced concentration,</strong></li>
<li><strong>reduced levels of focus,</strong></li>
<li><strong>insomnia,</strong></li>
<li><strong>phobia&#8217;s,</strong></li>
<li><strong>fear and anxiety, and</strong></li>
<li><strong>an overall detriment to      good mental and emotional health and stability.</strong></li>
</ul>
<p>If things are good and you are experiencing positive thought chains, then you are fine. There is no perceived need to seek help. It&#8217;s only when you are experiencing negative thought chains that you become unstable and seek assistance.</p>
<p>People turn to all kinds of remedies, from sleep aids to various ritualistic behavior, religious or otherwise, to quiet their minds and find peace. These remedies tend to provide only temporary rather than lasting relief.</p>
<p>The problem is that thought chains are caused habitually, they are rooted in deep seated mental patterns. Allow me to explain. The mind finds security in the known. Memories of past events provide the perfect solutions for a mind looking for security. So this mind creates mental activity based around what it perceives as being safe and secure. This mind reasons that memories can not harm it, since they are of time, of the past.</p>
<p>This type of mind also finds security in routines and patterned thought, in the mundane. This type of mind is very comfortable being mechanical, and repeating the same thoughts and thought chains over and over again. This provides a certain level of comfort. The mind needs to stay busy to feel secure. Most of us aren&#8217;t even aware that it&#8217;s happening. As a consequence we live very mechanical lives, repeating the same thought chains and as a result repeating the same negative actions, that very often provide us with inadequate and sub par results.</p>
<p>Why not think with a purpose? Why not break out of the mechanical way of thinking that you find so secure? Why not think outside of the box? Why don&#8217;t you stop repeating the same mistakes over and over again?</p>
<p>The trick to meditation is that it allows you to learn how to become aware, so that you can see these mechanical, patterned ways of thinking and understand that they&#8217;re just a normal function of the mind. They&#8217;re the result of millions of years of evolution.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s not misunderstand each other, because patterned or mechanic thinking has it&#8217;s place in life. Could a chemist do their job without knowing the elements, and compounds and numerous other formulas that education has taught them? Of course not. But would the cure for small pox, or the discovery of penicillin have been possible without clear thinking out side of the box. Would the discovery of the jet engine have been possible without seeing the whole structure of propulsion and then making a leap beyond, outside of the normal mechanical thinking that most of us are so used to. I think not.</p>
<p>Now with the understanding derived from meditation, that all mental activity is the same, whether thoughts are good or bad. With the ability not to engage in these patterned chains of thought, but instead to just realize that they are the mind doing what it does. Not to judge or compare but to accept without prejudice or compromise that which is.</p>
<p>Only then can you begin to discover a way of thinking that is not mechanical and does not follow any particular pattern. Then you can begin to see things clearly, to see the whole picture, the whole moving structure of that which you are trying to relate to and not just a small piece of it. This is what we call intelligence. More specifically the awakening of intelligence.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Meditation is the process of understanding ones own mind, with the objective of following your own <strong>Thought Chains</strong> to create a usable <strong>Mental Model.</strong></p>
<p>Our minds are active all of the time. As we interact with our environment, our minds are constantly creating mental thought chains. This leads to a never ending barrage of noise. It&#8217;s like having a radio station, set to the same channel, playing in your head for eternity. Without the luxury of a volume control or an on off switch you are truly lost. Yoga and Meditation gives you a volume control and an on off switch to use whenever you need to.<span id="more-1447"></span></p>
<p>All of our ideas and actions are created from these mental thought chains. We are literally what we think. So then it follows that we should consider understanding how the mind works, understanding how our own minds function, as something that is extremely important and to be taken very seriously.</p>
<p>It bears repeating, that this is what meditation does. It is a process that is based upon a working model of how our minds work. Meditation is a process that allows us to understand ourselves. Through meditation you can;</p>
<ul>
<li>Look at your own thoughts,</li>
<li>Look at your thoughts from the perspective of the observer and the observed,</li>
<li>Learn how to change the way you think, to be more productive,</li>
<li>Realize that the way you think and interact with the world, determines how happy or sad you are, and finally,</li>
<li>Realize the many physical and mental benefits that yoga and meditation provides.</li>
</ul>
<p>Mental activity creates thoughts that are linked together with other thoughts. So for example:</p>
<ul>
<li>You see someone that reminds you of an old friend named Bob,</li>
<li>You think,&#8221; I really like Bob,&#8221;</li>
<li>You wonder what Bob is up to,</li>
<li>You wonder how the old gang is doing,</li>
<li>You wonder if Bob is on facebook,</li>
<li>You proceed to check out facebook, to find your old friend Bob and all of your other old friends from the gang.</li>
</ul>
<p>So the initial interaction with the environment, triggers a specific action. This is usually the case. First you react to the person that reminds you of Bob. You react to the outside environmental stimulus. You, the observer, then proceed to observe the stimulus and react. This action triggers yet another thought and observation and reaction,  and another, and another.</p>
<p>You may even create thought chains that will eventually lead to a totally different thought pattern or subject matter. For example:</p>
<ul>
<li>You start out seeing the person that reminds you of Bob,</li>
<li>You observe that you &#8220;like&#8221; Bob,</li>
<li>Bob makes you feel good,</li>
<li>You think, &#8220;Bob was always in really good shape, he always exercised a lot,&#8221;</li>
<li>You think of you own physical conditioning,</li>
<li>You observe that you aren&#8217;t particularly happy about the shape that you are in,</li>
<li>This makes you feel badly,</li>
<li>You think, &#8220;I have to get to the gym and workout harder.&#8221;</li>
<li>You then observe, this makes you feel good, but you really don&#8217;t have time to get to the gym tonight, because you have to work late,</li>
<li>You then observe that you feel poorly that you won&#8217;t be able to work out tonight.</li>
</ul>
<p>In the above <strong>thought chain</strong> you completely went off topic, and you may have noticed, that you went from feeling good, to feeling bad, to feeling good, to feeling bad again, all within a few moments. Yikes! Crazy right.</p>
<p>Yet this is exactly what we do all of the time. We constantly subject ourselves to this fruitless mental dance. Moving from one chain of thoughts to another, often without even being aware of what&#8217;s happening to us.</p>
<p>You have no idea how to stop it, change it, or at least not to have it affect you in a negative way. Sometimes you&#8217;ll even act out without realizing what your doing.</p>
<p>Through Yoga and Meditation you will learn how to monitor your mental <strong>thought chains</strong> and recognize mechanical unproductive patterns in your thinking. You will form a working model of how your mind functions, so that you can easily see negative thought chains and begin to create new, positive thoughts to replace them. You will move forward with your life and manifest a rewarding and vibrant reality.</p>

Why and how are <strong>old</strong> <strong>habits </strong>formed? How can we get rid of our <strong>bad habits</strong>? You will see something extraordinary if you go slowly and really get into this very deeply. It is really quit interesting.</p>
<p style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;"><span id="more-1273"></span><strong>First what is a habit and why and how are habits formed? </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>A habit is repetition of a movement, or action,</li>
<li>We all do things because someone or everyone else is doing them. So we imitate others,</li>
<li>Then we say all of those that aren&#8217;t doing it, are wrong, bad, or not cool,</li>
<li>We identify with this new action and will likely continue to do it.</li>
</ul>
<p style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">Let&#8217;s look at a specific example, say smoking, to see how this might function in real life.</p>
<p style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">First you are presented with a new situation that many of your friends, or family members etc. are doing. It seems like a cool thing to do to you. So you imitate the others, trying to be like them. You want to belong to this group, this group of smokers, so you imitate them. Then this imitation is likely repeated over and over again. You are now forming a habit.</p>
<p style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">It is satisfying, you are now like them. And when confronted by a non-smoker, there is tension, a certain level of discomfort. Conflict will likely ensue. Non-smokers are annoyed by your smoke. You are annoyed by their imposition of will upon your actions.</p>
<p style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">You are no longer like the others. You are part of a new group. They are different from you. You are good, so then they must not be good. They must be bad. You have identified with this new action of smoking, and in turn, with this new group. You will likely continue to smoke because it brings you satisfaction on many different levels.</p>
<p style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">Why does the mind fall into this groove? Why do you <strong>form habits</strong>?</p>
<ul>
<li>The mind functions in habit for various reasons, like a machine, a computer,</li>
<li>Habit make it easier, and it implies a certain order to things,</li>
<li>Habit is a way to be secure. The mind finds security in repetition,</li>
<li>Habit is a way to avoid loneliness by becoming part of a group,</li>
<li>Habit is a way to avoid the unknown. The mind finds comfort in the known and is very uncomfortable with the unknown.</li>
</ul>
<p style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">Are you aware that you are always operating by<strong> </strong>habit? You get up a 6 o&#8217;clock every day, have a cup of coffee or tea, go to work, to smoke, to not smoke, to take drugs, to not take drugs, to believe in something, to not believe, to go to the movies on Saturday night, to go on vacation in the summer, to eat that fattening desert or not to eat it. Everything can be reduced to habits.</p>
<p style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">Most of our actions are imitation or repetition of what others have said or done. As a consequence, most of us live second hand, and very dull lives. Always imitating and following others. It could be parents, siblings, friends, political leaders, religious leaders, etc, they have conditioned your mind.</p>
<p style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">You don&#8217;t know anything really! You have not tasted anything, this all is borrowed. Someone else has tasted, the taste is not your own. Someone else has seen, but you have your eyes and have not used them. Someone else has experienced, a Jesus has experienced, a Buddha has experienced, and you just go on borrowing their knowledge. It is better to be ignorant at least the ignorance is yours. It is authentic, real, sincere, and honest.</p>
<p style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">When you get angry, is it your anger or is it the anger of your mother or father. Is it coming from you, or is it their anger that resonates through you. When you form an opinion of something, is it your opinion, or is someone else influencing, and tainting the direction of your thoughts. Are you functioning from a fresh, new and alive perspective, or from the learned, old, and imitated perspective.</p>
<p style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">Can the mind live and function without habits?</p>
<p style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;"><strong>Breaking old habits</strong> is very difficult. It requires a lot of effort and is never easy because our lives are formed and based upon old habits, actions learned and imitated from our past.</p>
<p style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">To break old habits, the psychological, as well as the physical you need to radically change your way of thinking. You need to stop experiencing life through the words and actions of others, and start knowing and understanding things for yourself, with a new fresh perspective.</p>
<p style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;"><strong>Try the following technique:</strong> For the next 7 days, make every action your own action. Don&#8217;t do anything that is an imitation of someone else, what someone else said or did. Don&#8217;t take any action that is not truly your own. Live and experience everything for the next 7 days, without the memories from your past, without the habits formed by imitating or observing and listening to others. Know your own actions. Live with these actions for the next 7 days. Stop living a second hand existence. From the moment you wake in the morning, and open your eyes, try to be authentic and real. Don&#8217;t do anything that is false. Whatever you lose, let it be lost. Remain real for 7 days. You will feel alive again for the first time, you will be transformed.</p>
<p style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;">While you may not develop a novel approach to solving the worlds problems, I can assure you of one thing. You will no longer be a second hand imitation of someone else. You will no longer be a carbon copy. You will begin to think for yourself. You will begin to experience life from your own righteous perspective. You will be a first hand, new and improved you.</p>

<li><span style="font-size: small;">First, you need to enter a relaxed <strong>meditation state</strong>,</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small;">Then, make a <strong>positive reinforcing suggestion</strong> that you feel very comfortable in a specific place in your mind that is very calm and tranquil,</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small;">Once you are in a deep meditative state, touch your thumb and forefinger together, (or if you wish, you can create your own special word or touch that&#8217;s meaningful to you). This is your trigger that will instantly remind you of how <strong>relaxed and calm</strong> you are feeling in that moment, so that you may attain a very <strong>positive state of mind</strong>,<br />

<li><span style="font-size: small;">Finally each and every time you use this trigger you will be reminded of how relaxed and calm you feel. Each time you use this technique, your mental trigger will become <strong>stronger and stronger</strong> to your subconscious mind. Each time you use your mental trigger it will become more relevant and more responsive to your needs. Each time you will experience a <strong>positive state of mind</strong>.<br />

<p><span style="font-size: small;">To create an effective mental trigger, It is extremely important to focus on your own particular sense modalities.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">There are 5 different sense modalities to choose from.<br />

<li><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Visual</strong> &#8211; Imagine a place that&#8217;s very special to you. Can you see this special place in your mind? If you can see it, is it clear, very clear or fuzzy? Can you see it in color or black and white? Are the colors vivid or hazy? Can you see it as a moving picture or still frame? Can you play it fast forward and rewind the image? Can you easily change the images, colors, brightness, motion etc? Can you look at it from a different perspective? From above or below? Zoom in and out? You may have had no problem answering these questions or you may have seen no image at all. In which case you are probably a non visual person. And that&#8217;s O.K. because sense of sight is only one of the five senses.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Auditory </strong>-Imagine your special place. Can you hear any sounds. Are they sounds of nature, like birds chirping, water running, wind blowing or is there just silence? Can you hear sounds coming from different directions? Getting louder, or softer? Can you imagine a sound that makes you feel calm and tranquil? Can you rewind sounds and conversations, making them faster or slower, louder or softer? If you don&#8217;t hear any sounds your probably a non auditory person. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Kinesthetic </strong>- Imagine your special place. Can you feel the temperature, is it warm or cold? Can you change the temperature? Can you imagine the warmth of the sun on your skin? The wind blowing through your hair? The touch of your feet on the warm sand of a beach? The feel of the water on your feet? The mist of the waves hitting your face? Can you imagine holding an object in your hand? Is it heavy or light? Can you feel it&#8217;s texture, size and weight? Can you feel emotion when doing these things? Can you change the image and feel a different emotion? If none of this works for you that&#8217;s O.K. your probably a non touch person.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Taste </strong>- Can you imagine eating your favorite meal at your favorite restaurant? Can you change the meal to something different? Can you change the taste, make it spicy, salty, peppery, etc? Can you imagine eating a sour food, and your mouth puckers up? Can you imagine a taste when you picture a color? Can you imagine a taste when you hear a sound? Do you relate an emotion to certain foods? Do they make you happy, sad, calm or relaxed?</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Smell </strong>- Picture your special place again. Can you imagine the different smells as you move around this special place? Are these smells intense, or subtle? Do they change as you explore your special place? Can you intentionally change these smells? Can you intensify or diminish them? Do you relate various smells to certain emotions? Do you have a relaxing or calming smell? Can you imagine a sound and relate a smell to it?</span><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></li>

<p><span style="font-size: small;">Play around and experiment with your different sense modalities, and answer all of the question. Create your own questions and answer them. In time you will find out which sensory modalities you are most sensitive to, and therefor which ones will be most effective and responsive for you. <li><strong>Find a quiet location</strong> free of distractions. Turn off the cell phone, radio, and television and make sure that you won&#8217;t be interrupted.</li>
<li><strong>A comfortable position. </strong>You can meditate sitting or lying down, walking or doing virtually any other physical activitie. The key is that your comfortable and relaxed, and not straining.</li>
<li><strong>Relaxed breathing. </strong>Meditation requires deep, even paced, diaphragmatic breathing. The purpose is to slow the breathe, take in more oxygen, and reduce tension in your neck, shoulders, and upper chest.</li>
<li><strong>Focus your attention. </strong>Focusing your attention helps you to clear your mind of the many distractions that cause you stress and anxiety during the day. It gives you a chance to reboot your nervous system. As you become more proficient you will learn to focus your mind on specific intentions, thereby enhancing your ability to manifest your needs and desires into reality.</li>
</ul>
<p>Now breath in through your nose, steadily and calmly, breathing in 1,2,3,4, now slowly release the breath, slowly, 1, 2, 3, and, 4. Again, breath in through your nose, steadily and calmly, breathing 1,2,3,4, now slowly release the breath, slowly, 1, 2, 3, and, 4.  That’s good, once again breath in 1, 2, 3, and 4 and gently release the breath 1,2,3, and 4.  That’s great.  Continue breathing in this way, in 1,2,3,4 and now slowly release, 1,2,3, and 4.</p>
<p>Now just relax.  Stay like this for a few moments and enjoy the feeling. Your mind and body are totally relaxed and comfortable. All <strong>stress and anxiety </strong>is now gone it has simply faded away. Your <strong>mind</strong> is quiet and calm. You are at total peace with yourself and the world around you.</p>
<p>Now if you’d like you can <em><strong>create a mental trigger</strong></em>?</p>
<p>Focus on this feeling of <strong>total relaxation and contentment</strong>. Really soak it in. Put your thumb and forefinger together, and say, &#8220;<em><strong>I am totally relaxed and free of all stress and anxiety</strong></em>.&#8221; Repeat this to yourself several times or if you prefer say it out loud.</p>
<p>Now any time you want to<strong> feel</strong><strong> totally relaxed and free of stress</strong>, you can simply put your thumb and forefinger together, and relaxation will come to you easily and effortlessly.  Any time during the day, or night, when you need to relax, you can utilize this technique. Just put your thumb and forefinger together and you will feel totally relaxed and free of stress.</p>
<p>The beauty of this technique is that it can be used anywhere and anytime. For instance,</p>
<ul>
<li>You feel stressed at work, just put your two fingers together take a deep breathe and repeat to yourself, &#8220;<em><strong>I am totally relaxed and free of all stress and anxiety</strong></em>.&#8221; and watch your stress and anxiety begin to fade away.</li>
<li>Taking an exam and got stuck on a question, again, put your two fingers together and take a really deep cleansing breathe, and repeat to yourself, &#8220;<em><strong>I am totally relaxed and free of all stress and anxiety</strong></em>.&#8221; Now return to that question, with a little more clarity and perspective than you had before.</li>
<li>Feeling sad about a loved one or a stressful relationship. To gain perspective, simply use your <strong>mental trigger</strong>.</li>
</ul>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="font-size: medium;">High school and college <strong>students suffer</strong> from and are faced with significant amounts of <strong>stress and anxiety </strong>that can result in both physical and emotional health issues.<span id="more-596"></span></p>
<p>A recent study shows that five times as many high school and college <strong>students suffer</strong> and are dealing with<strong> <em>stress, anxiety and other mental health issues</em> </strong>as their counterparts that were studied during the Great Depression.  This research study is based on the responses of 77,576 high school and college students who from 1938 through 2007, took the Minnessota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI).</p>
<ul>
<li>Students themselves point to everything from pressure to succeed — self-imposed and otherwise — to a fast-paced world that&#8217;s only sped up by the technology they love so much.</li>
<li>Another major contributor appears to be the unrealistic feelings ingrained in young people, that they need to have huge amounts of money to be considered a success. This leads to feelings of <em>inadequacy, </em><strong>anxiety and depression.</strong></li>
<li>In addition, today&#8217;s youth is brought up in a &#8220;you can do anything&#8221; environment. This leads to false expectations which when not met results in <strong>anxiety and depression</strong>.</li>
</ul>
<p><em>Are you a student or parent of a </em><strong><em>student that suffers with stress and anxiety? </em></strong>Here are some ways for students to maintain good health and keep their sanity.</p>
<ul>
<li><em>Establish a quiet space to study.</em> This is a place were you can focus and concentrate away from distractions. If you live with a noisy roommate, find a quiet spot in the library or your favorite coffee shop.</li>
<li><em>Create a schedule. </em>Leave yourself plenty of time to study for exams and get work done.</li>
<li><em>Don&#8217;t pull &#8220;All Nighters&#8221;. </em>Make sure to leave yourself enough study time.</li>
<li><em>Stay away from caffeine, alcohol and drugs. </em>Caffeine only provides a temporary jolt. You will eventually crash from excessive use. Need I say anything about excessive alcohol use other than moderation my young friends, moderation. And please just forget about drugs altogether.</li>
<li><em>Get on a healthy diet.</em></li>
<li><em>Get plenty of sleep.</em></li>
<li><em>Don&#8217;t obsess on results. </em>Test scores are important but you need to keep things in perspective.  Otherwise you will become overly anxious about a test&#8217;s outcome which can actually cause you to do poorly. You need to shift your focus and stay present minded. <p>It&#8217;s a bit of both I&#8217;m afraid. You choose to close your eyes when circumstances are pleasant. When you have a nice job, a beautiful home, a cool car, good heath, a wonderful supporting family, etc. It&#8217;s only when conflict arises that you&#8217;re even aware that you&#8217;re alive. Until conflict and controversy arise, most of us take a very nonchalant and uninvolved attitude towards life. Everythings fine, it&#8217;s not broken, why fix it.</p>
<p>Things only begin to get interesting when conflict and controversy arise. When you lose your job, can&#8217;t pay the mortgage, your spouse leaves you or becomes ill, etc. Then<em><strong> stress, fear and anxiety </strong></em>take over and you become inundated with your problems.</p>
<p>You fear loss of what you have or you actually suffer from a real loss. It doesn&#8217;t matter. To your mind they are almost the same thing. Both cause you similar levels of <em><strong>stress and anxiety</strong></em>. The first in anticipation of some future event. The latter, from the culmination of the past, as it moves through the present and into the future.</p>
<p>Now what do you do? Run away and hide. Sink into depression.</p>
<p>Instead try facing your problems and dealing with them head on and in the present moment. Look at them and accept them. When things change and you are challenged, understand that things have changed, and accept this change.</p>
<p><em><strong>Focus all of your energy and attention</strong></em> on your problem and find a resolution. Accept what is and either choose to stay with it (not change and accept the status quo), or to change it.<em><strong> But the key is that you look at it closely and understand it.</strong></em> Most people don&#8217;t even take this first step. As a consequence they find themselves truly lost.  Tossed aimlessly without purpose or intention by their own circumstances and life&#8217;s random challenges.</p>
<p>Take charge. <strong><em>Take control of your life now</em></strong>, before these inevitable conflicts arise. Face your existence and accept yourself and life for what it truly is. Don&#8217;t shade it with your opinions, prejudice, comparison, and beliefs. Then decide with eyes wide open, if this is the life that you really want, or if you need to change it.</p>
<p><strong><em>Look at your reality.</em></strong> See and be totally honest with yourself. Is this what you need and want? Or is there more for you? Then decide what to do and live&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.</p>
<p>You always have the final choice. All you have to do is <em><strong>accept what is</strong></em> and then choose. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Reducing <em><strong>work related stress</strong></em> often means prioritizing and organizing. Below are several time management and task management tips for reducing <em><strong>job related stress</strong></em>:<span id="more-14"></span></p>
<p><a name="more"></a>* <strong>Plan Regular Breaks. </strong>Plan short breaks during the day. Take a moment to stretch out, take several deep breaths, get up and take a short walk. Anything to clear your mind and change your environment for a few minutes will do. Especially at lunch, try to get away from the office for a while.</p>
<p><strong>* Give Yourself Plenty of Time in The Morning. </strong>Don&#8217;t rush.  Give your self an extra 15 minutes to get to work each day. Don&#8217;t add to your stress levels by having to worry about be late to work in the morning.</p>
<p>* <strong>Create Balance. </strong>Make sure that you have enough time planned for family, friends, social activities and personal pursuits. All work and no play is a recipe for increased stress.</p>
<p><strong>* Prioritize. </strong>Make a spreadsheet, that lists three categories ranking from highest, most important (must do today type tasks) to lowest, least important (can do whenever I get around to it type tasks). Then tackle these tasks in order of priority with the most important getting your utmost attention first, and the lowest only getting your attention after all higher ranking tasks have been completed. Review your list periodically and clean it up. Discard those lowest ranking tasks that still haven&#8217;t been completed. If they aren&#8217;t important enough to complete after several weeks, let them go.</p>
<p><strong>* Break large projects up into smaller ones. </strong>When a large project seems overwhelming, simply break it up into smaller bite sized components. Then prioritize the pieces and tackle each smaller task in order of importance until the entire project is done.</p>
<p><strong>* Delegate. </strong>Let go of the need to control every aspect of the job. When others can handle a particular part of a task, why not let them? You will<em><strong> immediately release stress</strong></em> when you allow others to help.</p>
<p>On a more subtle level you can use the intelligence you gain from practicing <strong>yoga and meditation </strong>to help. Use your increased self awareness to attune to your emotions and their impact while, using insight and intuition to guide you in your decision making. Use your increased levels of self control to better adapt to your changing circumstances and job environment. Use your relationship skills to understand and react to others, while inspiring, and influencing those around you by becoming a strong positive role model.</p>
<p><strong>Yoga and meditation</strong> are amazing ways to <strong><em>reduce levels of stress and anxiety</em></strong> in the workplace. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-size: small;">In these difficult times, it&#8217;s getting harder and harder to cope with on the job challenges. </span>The stress we take with us to the job, and the stress we get when on we&#8217;re at the workplace from employers, managers and workers are all on the rise. We all feel it!<span id="more-13"></span></p>
<p><a name="more"></a>This troubled economy has everyone feeling like they&#8217;re on a roller coaster ride.  Layoffs, and budget cuts, have resulted in increased fear and uncertainty regarding job security. So you have the fear of layoff, increased demands, overtime due to staff reductions, and pressure to perform to meet rising expectations. This all leads to increased stress and anxiety.</p>
<p>While some stress is normal and actually desirable, excessive stress tends to wear us out both mentally, emotionally and physically, leading to reduced productivity and health. So what can you do?</p>
<p><strong>Take responsibility</strong> for your physical health and emotional well being.<br />
<strong>Learn better communication skills</strong> with co-workers, management and employers to improve relationships and avoid potential confrontations and problems.<br />
<strong>Avoid the common pitfalls</strong> of making snap judgments, overreacting and losing your temper.</p>
<p>Start by taking care of yourself! Get moving with some form of <strong>cardiovascular aerobic exercise</strong>.  About 30 minutes a day will do. This will effectively improve your mood, energy levels, focus and concentration.</p>
<p>Watch what you eat! Make better food choices. Reduce carbs.<strong> Eat smaller servings but more frequently</strong>. This will even out your blood sugar levels during the day resulting in less stress and irritability.</p>
<p><strong>Reduce alcohol consumption and stay away from nicotine all together</strong>. Alcohol is a depressant and nicotine is a stimulant. While both of these may seem to initially reduce stress and provide a sense of calm, the sensation is only temporary. The end result is actually increased levels of stress and anxiety once the drug starts to wear off.</p>
<p><strong>Get enough sleep.</strong> A lack of sleep will leave you vulnerable to the negative effects of stress.</p>
<p><strong>Use time proven stress reduction techniques. </strong>Yoga and meditation are amazing ways to reduce levels of stress and anxiety.
