Three Major Volcanic Eruptions Ever Recorded in History

1. Mt. Etna.

Way back in 1500 BC, Mt Etna erupted about 200 times. The most notorios and violent eruption was on 1669 of March, the lava flows and cut a smoldering gash out of two mountain villages. Multiple eruptions over the next few weeks killed more than 17,000 people and 27,000 left homeless.

The molten rocks spread rapidly for days and ruined Nicolosi and 16 villages, including Belpasso, S. Pietro Clarenza, Camporotondo, Mascalucia and Misterbianco. Part of S. Giovanni Galermo was slightly affected. The notorious and voluminous molten rocks and lava flows to city walls of Catania and the western side of the city, till it reached to the sea.

In later years, the major eruptions occurred in 1853 and 1928.

Mt. Etna is found on the Italian island of Sicily. It is also known as Mongibeddu among Sicilian, a corruption of the Latin and Arabic words for "mountain" .

It stand at 11,000 feet above the sea in the northeast section of Sicily. It is Europe's largest volcano and the most active volcanoe in the world.

2. Mt. Tambora.

Mt. Tambora is an active stratovolcano on Sumbawa island, Indonesia. It lies 340 km (211 mi) north of the Java Trench system and 180-190 km (112-118 mi) above the upper surface of the active north-dipping subduction zone. On April 5, 1815, Mt. Tambora erupted and considered as the largest eruption ever recorded in history, it darkened the sky at noon with ash from numerous explosions. A powerful and gigantic blast was estimated to be equivalent of all the nuclear stockpiles during the 1980's. Prior to eruption, volcanologist and scientist had indicated that Tambora had been doormant for 5,000 years, magma stored up in the chamber and this build up had reach its limit in 1815. The eruption almost consumed the whole sky and sent an ash plume 15 miles into the air, which lasted for two hours. It ejected sulphur-rich gases that rose to a height of 28 miles and creates a giant sun fliter in the northern hemisphere that caused the spring and summer of 1816 to be extremely cold across Europe and North America. (Source: History Magazine) After April 15th explosion of the same year, five days after, April 10th the same eruption took place, which caused the collapse of the eruption column. Pyroclastic flows down the slope wiped out the villages of Sanggar and Tambora and lasted for three hours.

In the year of 1816 was the year without summer when Mt. Tambora (Tomboro) erupted and considered as one of the most explosive and massive volcanic eruptions in history. The after effect or eruptions had adverse effect of weather in 1816, paricularly in North America, Europe and Asia.

An estimated 83, 000 people died on the nearby islands and about 90,000 people died from the volcanoe's wider effects.

3. Mt. Pelee.

In April - May 1902, Mt. Pelee erupted and killed 30,121 people. It is located near the city of Pierre, Martinque, in the west side of Carrebean Island. It is now famous for its destructive eruption in 1902 and dubbed as the worst volcanic disaster of the 20th century.

During the eruption, a burning cloud of hot ash and gases swept into the town at a speed of 100 miles per hour. The mountain was torn into pieces without warning. A solid wall of flame flowed toward the city, which sounded like a thousand huge and gigantic canon. The flood fire was all over the mountain that flows rapidly like a hurricane hit the town.

There were two survivors in the city. One man who had an underground jail cell and a sailor who were off-shore.

Is There a Thing Called Flying Fish?

Yes, there is. That’s why it’s called, "Flying Fish".

Flying fish

is a marine fish that has two talents. Flying and Swimming (oopss…obviously). Exocoetidae or flying fish is a tropical marine fish having enlarged winglike fins used for brief gliding flight. Their size is up to 18 in (45 cm). If you can see a fish jumping and jumping out of warm water in the world of oceans, it must be the flying fish.

Wonder why they jump too much? It might be their survival technique to avoid being eaten by mackarel, marlin, swordfish, tuna, and the shark of course. Flying fish have an unusual defense mechanism for escaping predators than the regular fish.

How do this creature fly?

It gathers much speed , leaps or jumps right out of the water. Have you seen it streamlines torpedo shape? It helps them to generate and gets enough speed to leap right out of the water. And, it winglike fins get into the air, it spreads it chest fins so they serve as wings, keeping the flying fish in the air up to 325 feet (100 m). Isn’t it amazing?

Once they are underwater, they close and fold the winglike fins so that they can swim. And, if they sense a predator would make them a palatable meal, they would easily escape out of the water.

3. Fish That Can Walk On Land

Is there any? Mudskippers fish are the kind of fish which live in swamps and muddy estuaries on tropical cost. They are quite active out of water. They use their pectoral fins to walk on land, and they come right out of the water using their muscular chest fins as crutches. They are often called “Walking Fish”

Forget about the fast and the furious, where all goes in a blast. Let’s talk about the fastest creature on earth made by heaven and own by our mother nature. If you’re amaze how can a Bugatti EB 16.4 Veyron take its speed from zero to 62 mph in 2.7 seconds (or 2.5 seconds), which considered as all time winner of the fastest modern car in the whole world, hold your breath for the fastest living creature on earth that no one can fathom.

Peregrine Falcons.

The scientific name is Falco peregrinus, peregrines- which derive from the Latin word wanderer, because it is known to roam or travel for an extended period of time, especially during the winter season. It is considered as the endangered species in Canada and in the United States. The Peregrine Falcon is not only considered as the fastest creatures in the sky, it’s the swiftest birds and creature in the whole world that can fly horizontally at speed up to 55 mph. It is known as the “Masters of the Hunt” (the raptors); where they knock out its prey in a downward dive over 270 mph. There’s only 66% chance of escaping when the peregrine falcon chased its favourite prey, it made a plunge over 270 mph to mashed their prey with its gigantic talons (something like a claw) and knock them out by colliding up in the sky. The Pregirine Falcon uses their long, pointed wings and long narrow tails to fly quickly and rapidly that make it as the fastest flying creatures in the whole world.

Cheetah.

It is known as a marvel of evolution, the wonder of the great earth and the spectacular fastest runner over the land, Cheetah, which uses their slender, long-legged body for speed, can reach up to 70 mph at its top speed (whew!!!) The scientific name of Cheetah is Acinonyx jubatus, usually found in Southern and Eastern Africa, Middle East

and in Southern Asia. It can cover or make a pace at about seven-eight meters, with only one foot touching the ground at a time; the cheetah can make a speed of 110 km/h in just a second. Cheetah depends on sight not on smell, when it chase its prey with two points in the stride, feet not touching on the ground; it knock down their prey at once by a suffocating bite to the neck. It chases 3.4 miles at an average speed of 45 mph (72 km/h), last at about 20 seconds; which made it as the fastest animals over the land.

Sailfish.

Literally, sailfish has dark blue color on top, brown-blue laterally, silvery white below. On the sides of the sailfish body has about twenty bars that are made up of bright blue spots. They have elongated bill which has a resemblance of a swordfish and a characteristics of sail (dorsal fin) on top, which often stretches the entire length of the back. Istiophorus platypterus is the scientific name, which has a common size of 7 feet and mostly found in Florida. Most people believe that the Indo-Pacific Sailfish is the fastest creature among all the fishes for it covers or excess in its speed at about 110 km/h (68 mph) over a short period of time. They usually have grown quickly at about 1.2 to 1.5 meters in length and 100 kg in weight. Fisherman and other spectators believed and seen them leap to its height at about 6 m out of the water, and they calculated their swimming speed at 35. 2 km/h.

If a plane can fly in its incredible speed more than the peregrine falcon, that’s totally amazing. If a person can run half of the Cheetah’s speed, she or he would break the record of the fastest creature on earth over the land; and if you can swim like a sailfish and can reach at the same speed? Wow–Everybody are in completely amaze. Anyway, if you can run like a Cheetah, fly like a peregrine falcon and swim like a sailfish, you will be considered as the most magnificent, spectacular and wondrous person living oearth. If you can? Did I hear why not?

played with me when I creep in their house

they climbed on my lap,

slept on my chest,

gave me happiness

and entertained me like no one else!

i liked to hear his sound, it's so soothing and calm

he likes to brush his fur on my face

and drifted to sleep, so peaceful and sweet.

the wonderful delights your eyes may see,

the delightful 'meow' you've ever hear,

the cuddle and the purr you would like to remember.

she likes to climb on my lap,

she wanted to stay there as long as she likes.

she wants a hug, tightly and comfortably.

They snuggled so close to me

And I stroked and patted them so gently

Call of the Wild

Pretty sure, you've seen them (You may noticed I used "her/him"pronoun-instead of "it". I would like to think that they are part of this universe too, alive and kicking (not just another kinda of thing) . When I took a visit at the Toronto Zoo, they seemed so excited to see me. Well..., it was me who was very much excited to see them. I couldn't stop clicking my camera, they were so lovable. If I could come inside and hug them (Yah--,they're going to eat me- lolzzz!) "Here comes the long-lost relative of ours", that was the messaged they sent to me when I made my grand entrance.

I have a picture of the one hump camel too bt too tired to post it (lol...)!- one humped camel can be found in the Arabian deserts, while the two humped camel is an Asiatic animal.

By the way, beware of their faeces too! It's HUGE! And sometimes fly quite a distance, especially if they are having some bowel discomfort.
