This illustration will be doing double duty for the York Daily Record and FlipSidePA.

It was originally drawn to be a hidden picture finder, but we turned it into an interactive puzzle game via PlayBuzz.

And just so you don’t think this quiz is too easy, Bugs Bunny is not in the line up.

This art style was my inspiration for my Saint Patrick’s Day hidden picture finder.

While it is a complex illustration there are plenty of tricks in Illustrator that made it easy to draw.

The three-leaf and four-leaf clovers and celtic knots are pattern brushes.

I first drew one clover then selected it and went to my Brushes palette and chose New Brush

Select New Brush from Brushes palette in Illustrator.

A new window will pop open and choose Pattern Brush.

Then select Pattern Brush

Another window will open where you can add more specifications for the brush. Choose what you like. I will say I did choose Add space to fit under the Fit setting to make sure the pattern spaced out nicely along my path.

Then all you have to do is draw a path and click on the Pattern Brush you just created. If you want to tweak the pattern brush for a particular path, make sure path is selected then double click on the Pattern Brush and window will open where you can make your adjustments as needed.

Any where there is a path including the circles I drew I added my Pattern Brush.

I did the same process for the celtic knot. I drew it then made it into a Pattern Brush.

I created thicker strokes on the outside lines of the different parts such as the woman’s hair and had thinner inside strokes for the strands of hair.

I used the Width tool to vary the thickness of strokes throughout the illustration.

A yummy snack idea!

I told you in a previous blog post how much I like drawing cute animals and my most recent animal to draw for the York Daily Record/Sunday News was a gopher.

I originally sketched him out in pencil and then drew him in Adobe Illustrator CS3.

I designed the page in Indesign. I drew the small beer glass icons in Adobe Illustrator.

Instructions
Step 1: Cut animal templates out.
Step 2: Fold on center line of mouth.
Step 3: Then fold top of mouth in opposite direction.
Step 4: Then fold the bottom mouth in the same direction.

I then learned some other bullies also had the same hat.

I started to build a collage of a handful of bullies from Instagram.

I then created the hashtag #RedFlapHatClub and asked others to post their pics and tag it using the hashtag.

Here’s the first collage of bullies wearing the hats.

This post was made one week ago via my Instagram account.

First collage of bulldogs from Instagram wearing the red flap hat from Target.

A lot more bulldogs started using the hashtag, so I then starting building my collage in Adobe PhotoShop.

I posted an update on my Instagram account Artisticbulldog and received lots of positive feedback.

I also posted the collage on Twitter and tagged Target. Target in turn retweeted the collage.
