Family Place Workshop

When: Wednesday October 26th, 2011 - 10:00 AM
Where: Martin Library at Family Place

Family Place is a program offered by Martin Library to parents of children from birth to age three. The parents and children participate in a series of free workshops. This series of five workshops give parents, families and caregivers the opportunity to play with their children and interact with their peers in a comfortable, supportive environment. At the same time, they have the opportunity to interact with a variety of community developmental specialists.

Book Club for parents of the York City School District. Book Club members select books to be read and meet on a monthly basis.

GOAL Celebration Event

The 4th annual GOAL celebration featuring author Will Hillenbrand will take place at the West Manchester Mall to celebrate frst graders receivng their first library card. Special entertainment and a session with the author will be featured. Autographing will be available and books will be on sale.

Comcast Internet Essentials Training Session

Where: Martin Library at 2nd Floor Adult Computer Lab

Comcast has launched Internet Essentials, an ambitious and comprehensive broadband adoption initiative to bring internet access to low-income families, and Martin Library is assisting by providing a free 90-minute training session to help families understand the relevance of the internet and the ways it can empower them. Internet Essentials is available to low-income families with children who are eligible to receive free lunches under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). The goal of Internet Essentials is to help close the digital divide and ensure more Americans benefit from all the Internet has to offer.

Internet Essentials participants receive:
•Residential Internet service for $9.95 a month + tax;
•No price increases, no activation fees, or equipment rental fees;
•A voucher to purchase a low-cost computer for $149.99 + tax; and
•Access to free digital literacy training in person, in print and online.
