I just saw an advertisement from PLDT today regarding PLDT Telpad. It caught my attention and was really amazed how it works. It's a 7-inch screen portable tablet computer just like an iPAD of Apple. But the difference is, it includes a special handset that also serves as a charging dock for an application-rich.

I’ve learned from news that beginning July 19, 2009, prepaid load expiry to all networks will be extended. Wow! I was really glad when National Telecommunications Commissions (NTC) implemented that to all networks (Globe, Smart, Sun, etc). And in fact NTC also requires all mobile-phone operators to provide their subscribers call-data records upon request free of charge. Likewise, access to balance-inquiry service through text messages shall be free of charge.
These are the guidelines for the new rules on extension of prepaid load purchased by consumers.

My Farewell to the Scammer

Before I wrote this blog, I decided to just ignore that stupid scammer and let her wait for nothing, but a friend of mine encouraged me to still send her a final message to let her know that I was aware of her fraudulent activity.

As I expected, I received another email from her. It says:

Hello,

why you refused to send the Ipod with laptop to my son in Nigeria. All your money has been removed from my bank account card through my bank in conjunction with Western Union Money Transfer. My bank told me that they have sent you and Western UNION information and they are waiting for the shipment tracking number from you in order to give you the rest of the MTCN NUMBER to complete your money MTCN NUMBER. So that you ca have an acccess to have your money out from WU.

I wait for your message and if you have any question, send me message or send it direct to my bank customer care : cbtonline@consultant.com

I wait for the shipping tracking number now.

Don’t you know that if you do something bad to other people, it will come back to you multiple times more than what you can expect? I forgot that to tell you that I worked in an international bank and I know how financial institutions work. Anyway, you just don’t have any idea that I was able to track your exact location already while we’re exchanging emails and talking thru chat. You didn’t know that I was somehow examining you thru our conversation. Huh! I already have enough evidences to have you reported in my connections in the United States and United Kingdom.

Your desperate move to make out that MTCN from Western Union and your rubbish email from your so called “bank” had made you very, very obvious that you’re making money out of cheating. Aren’t you afraid of what you’re doing to other people? You’re a SWINDLER, SCAMMER, FRAUD, DECEIVER and CHEATER! And you won’t succeed with what you’re doing. NEVER!

I posted an ad last week at sulit.com.ph for my personal iPod that I’m selling. So I received some messages from one of the interested buyers including this one. Here’s what she exactly sent to me thru personal message “My name is Mrs. Deare Miller, I like your item and i want to buy it from you. Please can you tell me the price for the shipment. so that i can transfer your money to your bank account immediately. I wait for your message my email: dearemiller@live.com”.

After that, I replied to her asking for her exact location for proper pricing of the shipment if ever. Then she emailed me back with this:

Hello,

Thank so much for your message , My name is Mrs. Dunde Moguel from Malmo, sweden and I want to send the ipod to my son schooling in Nigeria for his birthday gift. I will give you my son name and address now.SO THAT YOU CAN TELL ME THE SHIPPING COST.

City: Igbara- Oke
State: Ondo- State
Country: Nigeria

At that point, I began to suspect that this person is just a scammer. But I still continued talking to her because I wanted to investigate and prove that my suspicion is right. I sent her a message thru chat to ask who she really is because she’s been very inconsistent about the information she’s been giving me. I asked her if she’s Mrs. Deare Miller, or Mrs. Dunde Moguel or Mrs. Dunde Miguel. It took 2 minutes before she replied to my question, and she said she’s Mrs. Deare Miller and the others are her close friends. Wow! What an alibi! After that she began asking if she could buy 4 iPods from me and she wants the 80 GB or something. I told her that I don’t have those. The only thing I have is my personal iPod. Then she asked me if I could help her to buy a laptop. I told her that I’ll try because what I care most is my iPod to be sold first. At the same time, in my mind, this person is very obvious that she’s a scammer. Firstly, why you should have to buy these gadgets here and yet she’s in Sweden as she said. And I believe it would cost her too much just with the shipping fee alone. To continue, she requested me to find her a 2nd laptop for her son, if possible HP or DELL (Ambitious!). Though I already have those speculations, I still continued helping her, hoping that in case it’s true then it’s good. Anyway, we agreed that the payment method will be done thru Western Union because I don’t have a bank account anymore. In Western Union you only have to give your Name and location. No need for your address and other information. And if ever I prove that she’s a scammer, at least I will somehow know how they do their dirty work and I can share it to other people and friends to avoid to become a victim. Then I sent her some details of the laptop-DELL. Then she changed her mind and she chose to have a brand new laptop. I informed her that HP and DELL here in the Philippines are expensive. I suggested her to go for ASUS or ACER. Then she agreed and kept on saying that she can pay. She even bragged that she’s a nurse. Then I asked her what do you do as a nurse? She said she worked at night and she does research on Virology. What the heck is that? This woman is really, really crazy! I think she’s thinking that Filipinos are idiot. She’s not even aware than I’m doing my research and investigation on her thru IM and emails to me. I started trying to track her IP Address and location. I also tried to ask her why she needs to buy these gadgets here and not there. It took her few minutes before she responded. She said “JUST DO IT” then acted and made excuses as if she could not speak in English anymore because her language is Swedish or whatsoever. After receiving that message, it’s already clear in my mind that she’s really a CERTIFIED SCAMMER. I’m just waiting for a perfect and right message to receive from her to track her exact location. I just can’t wait what will be her next message and how would this show end.

Then the other day, she sent me an email:

Hello,

Im still waiting for your message and for the price of LAPTOP. I wait for your message soon.

Best Regards.

Then I replied to her, and I just gave her my full name, location and specs of the laptop.

The next day, finally, I received the two messages: the first one is from her and the other one is from Citibank. This is her exact email message to me:

Hello,

Thank so much for your message, I have go to my bank now and send you the money by Western Union Money transfer. My bank will send you the money transfer MTCN NUMBER with all the necessary message.

I want you to go today and send the LAPTOP with IPOD to my son today immediately you receive a money transfer from my bank.

I wait for the tracking number now.

Gosh! This person really sucks! From poor grammar to an Idiot Scammer! And with the help of this dummy email add she used, I was able to track her exact location, which is in Ibadan, Oyo Nigeria. Thank God I was not victimized by this person.

THINGS TO REMEMBER:

-I realized that there are people who will do anything! As in anything just to take advantage of you. That's very sad, but it's true.

-Also never ever give out your personal information to anybody, especially bank account, credit card information or other pertinent information about yourself. Oh my! You might not only be a victim of "Fraud" but also "Identity Theft".

-Don't do transaction abroad unless you have a very secure website that you can use to facilitate online payments. One of the good eg. is Paypal.

-Observe! Observe! Observe!

-Do your own research.

-Don't trust right away and always be on your guard.

This is just a sharing from my personal experience for you to avoid these kind of people. And as you have read my story, I know that she's just one of them.

The Domino Effects

My friend and I attended the last service yesterday at 8:15pm. Actually we're late because we came from a birthday party in Manila. So we traveled "around the globe" to make it to Ortigas on time as much as possible..

We came late ,As I expected. It's already part of tithes and offerings. "Oh my", I said to myself. Because I don't have any money in my pocket. I even worried about what we're going to eat for the next day, and thinking how am I going to move my business. My cellphone's load is already insufficient, we don't have rice, I think only have P150+ in my wallet. I'm worrying on my credit card bill the next two days. I don't know where I can get a payment for my phone bill, house rent, food etc. Before I could even finish my worries on my mind, the pastor gave this chapter- Philippians 4:19: " And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus".(BOINKK!) It seems that there's an arrow arrow strucked me. "OOUUCCHH!!" I worried too much. After that, the service started and it wrap up of the series called "The Domino Effects" and ended up with Matthew 6:33- " But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." (BOOIINKK!!!) Strike two!!!! I feel I want to faint. I feel I'm like an ice that was toasted in an oven. It seems that God really prepared this message for me.
Before the series ended, I wondered why the title is "The Domino Effect".. and why it always focus with Matthew 6:33.
There's 3 pointers that was given yesterday.
1. SEEKING GOD- putting Him first in all we do.
2. SEEKING HIS KINGDOM- it's about our priority
3. SEEKING HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS- doing the right thing not to please men but to please God. Pleasing Him not because that we fear to be punished, not because of the rewards or blessing that we can get. But simple because doing it OUT OF LOVE. It's not about us, but it's all about Him.
There's also 2 mindsets that we people have towards God that needs to be break:
1. LORD GIVE ME THIS AND I'LL GIVE MY ALL
- Making God a genie
- Using Him as a tool/channel to receive His Blessing.
- Twisting His arms.
2. STRIVING NOT RELYING
- Following God's calling.
- It's like we're Adam who throw away God and His blessings, who chooses the toil and his needs.
- When we follow God, the blessings will run after us, and we can't contain it.
I think I found a miracle. I found my standing before God. It's typical for people to go after money, wealth, food, clothing, branding.. etc. using their own strength. But now, I realized that God only wants to be Father to us. When we put Him first in everything we do, everything we need will follow. A very simple command and yet I still fail to obey. But I'm glad and very grateful to be reminded.
