Its been sad to here.i have never been heard of him before & i had never seen him . I am proud that there r people who feel for others.

Just dont feel for others. Lets start doing something for others.

i am from india . If i start feeling for others than i need to feel each and every second for other person in india . indian media is so worse that they r only meant to make money.

Hope the SA media has some humanity in them.

Dit is nie n blog om gewone army stories op te vertel nie. Ons wil nie hoor van,afkak, jippo guts, of die doos van n korporaal, en pf’s is almal poese nie, dis ook nie n blog om te hoor hoe jy afgekak het en swaar gekry het tydens jou 2 jaar diensplig nie. Ons was almal daardeur, en dit was lekker tye as jy daaraan terug dink. Ons is hier om die gruwelike waarhede en werklikhede van ons nagmerrie ondervinding te deel met mekaar, om te gesels daaroor en ons emosies te deel. Ek was in wereld waar ek niks met niemand gedeel het nie, ek het net vertel van die lekker tye en baie emosioneel geraak as ek wou vertel van die werklikhede, en as gevolg daarvan het ek die stories en denke vir my self gehou. Dit het naderhand als in my lewe begin beinvoed, my familie, my werk ,emosionele en humeurige uitbarstings. Ek was te skaam en gedink net swakelinge sien sielkundiges ons was mos soldate ek moet “tuff” wees. Nou die dag het vir die eerste keer met n sielkundige daaroor begin praat, “sy is nogal mooi” dit het my n hele emosionele episode gevat voor ek iets kon se. Ek het begin vertel van van die ondervinding toe ons besig was met n aanval in angola “ek was n lid van 61 meg” daar is een van ons buddies langs my geskiet ek onthou nog hoe hy in die stof gerol het, vir my het dit gelyk soos n hond wat deur n kar getrap is, en so kan ek en jy aangaan en honderde stories vertel………………….

great post colin, great worth arthur (as always)… and a good conversation between daniel and arthur (dont be sorry Daniel!)

my 2 rupees worth:

1. Daniel – broadband culture is not the same as e-commerce adoption and more so, the relationship is tenuous at best – they can be mutually exclusive – so agree with Arthur on this one

2. like the Porsche in driveway metaphor – brill

3. Daniel – agree on Telkom point, disgaree on ISP “shunt this counrty” – I work for IS and the reality is that the Telkom costs are an input that everyone has transparency on, ie we cant mark this up. It then leaves the internet service provision – this is cookie-cut stuff now and massively competitive – so not too sure how ISP’s can have unfairly priced? the prohibitive costs come in the Telkom last mile component. Stick to blaming Telkom and your message is well put.

4. Liberalisation / competition points: the govt talks about this but it is merely lip service. They are as culpable as the inert ignoramuses at Telkom. Why? The govt get **MASSIVE** tax flows from the licensing fees (5% on revenue from MNO’s); then you add VAT and then corporate taxes of the license holders (read: monopolists, Telkom, Vodacom, MTN)

5. I agree with Daniel on Seacom emphatically and have discussed it with the likes of Arthur and Paul previously. More importantly, you missed the lack of in country backhaul infrastructure, long term contracts with other carriers on international backhaul, etc.
