We're going to be back at this year's Piccolo Spoleto Block Party and the theme is Anchored Down in Charlestowne.

It's going to be a truly awesome night. We are sponsoring the cornhole tournament and there will be some awesome prizes up for grabs with the top prize being a custom set of cornhole boards! You're all lucky I'm emceeing...otherwise those boards would be mine.

If you want to hear some awesome music, Rustic Remedy, Old You, Folkgrass, and McKenzie Eddie will all be taking the stage as well as local dance group Dance FX.

All this and more is going down this Saturday night from 6-10 at Marion Square! Be there...or have a crappy night!

Piccolo Spoleto is back again this year and it's jam packed with awesome theatre, art, dance, and more!

Focusing primarily on artists of the Southeast region, Piccolo Spoleto is the perfect complement to the international scope of its parent festival and its 700 events in 17 days, transforms Charleston into an exhilarating celebration of performing, literary and visual arts. Piccolo Spoleto’s traditional program offerings include visual arts exhibits, classical music, jazz, dance, theatre, poetry readings, children’s activities, choral music, ethnic cultural presentations, crafts and film.

This is an exciting time here and Charleston and there literally at least one event for everyone to enjoy! Well, guess who has free tickets? ME!

Desk jobs can suck. You sit for 8 hours straight in a chair that makes Ikea furniture seem comfortable. This can take a toll on your knees, back, and mind. That 40 hours in a cubicle also gives you little time to no time to work out. You slave over your key board all day...you don't want to work out afterwards. You're pooped, I get it.

Well, today I'm going to share some ways you can work out in the workplace.

Working out and feeling better will be way more awesome than looking normal in your cubicle, trust me!

Money Monday: Summer Savings

Most of you have probably already kicked school in the face and set it aside for next year. Well done. For those of you who still have a week or two of classes, this is sad news, but the end is in sight! Power on!

You're probably now starting your summer job or continuing the job you somehow balanced with your school load during the semester. For those of you who haven't been able to convince yourself to start saving some dough...this summer is a better time than ever!

It's likely that you'll see more income over these next couple months than you do during the school year so why not set some aside?

Oh, what's that? You don't have a reason not to?

That's what I figured.

Set A Goal: Setting a savings goal for your summer is very important. I suggest you set a goal for the entire summer by choosing what percentage of each check you're going to put into savings and multiply it by how many paychecks you expect to receive this summer. Keep your goal sensible. You're not going to be able to put 50 or 60% of your checks into savings...that laughable. The total will vary by the person though. Figure out what works for you!
Deposit That Junk Directly: Direct deposit is a clutch way to build your savings. When you use direct deposit you can put whatever percentage you decide on into your savings account every pay period before you ever see it and are tempted to spend it.
Celebrate Good Times...Come On: When you hit your goal by the end of the summer I think it's always a good idea to reward yourself. Buy that snapback you've had your eye on. Scoop that new nail polish you've had your eyes on...gentlemen. Don't overdo it though! Keep the purchase reasonable.
Rinse and Repeat: If you're working when you get back to school next semester try this approach again. Zoom.

Where Am I Wednesday: Food Truck Heaven

If you know me well, you know I love food trucks. I'd eat at a food truck over a chain restaurant every single day of my life.

If you can drive your food to my house...I'll likely fall in love with you. If you offer me crappy half price appetizers after 10 pm...you suck and your establishment probably has the name of a fruit in it.

I've contemplated starting up a food truck of my own. If I was certain I'd succeed, there'd be no question. But there's always that mystery of failure and defeat.

Here's an infographic discussing the best food trucks in the nation and some tips/buzz words for those of you looking to capitalize on this recently popular way of serving food.

Change for Change Art Show Photo Booth

A last minute addition to the Change for Change Art Show was an epic photobooth by the one and only Joseph Nienstedt (seen here).

That goat doesn't take crap from anyone! Believe me!

In all seriousness, this dude is an amazing photographer. A few short hours before the art show started he asked me if I'd be interested in him doing a photo booth. I instantly said yes. After seeing the results, I couldn't be more happy about this decision. Here are a couple of my favorite shots from the night...
