We always emphasize high Adsense CPC before we are going to choose which keywords will boost up our earnings. Is there something wrong with it? No, actually not. But many people only focused on that Adsense CPC without paying attention on other factor which will influence their Adsense Earning.

So, what is the other factor influence our Adsense Earning? Well, according to the adsense support page, I found at least 5 important factors influence our earning (Including the Adsense CPC itself).

Traffic
Yep, Traffic is the most important aspect! If you have a blog with high Adsense CPC, it’s not worth it, if you don’t have high traffic. And the traffic itself divided into many kind of traffic, there are organic Traffic (traffic from search engine), referral (might be from links or advertisements), or direct traffic. Each kind of traffic has different quality. Some says that organic traffic (traffic from search engine) is the most valuable traffic. Why? Because from organic traffic we can expect high click cost. But, no one sure about this idea, there are other factors which influence our earnings besides Traffic, especially Organic Traffic.

Cost-per-Click (Adsense CPC)
Aha, we come to this aspect. Adsense CPC. What is it? Adsense CPC is the amount an advertiser pays each time a user clicks on his/her ad. So, the Adsense CPC is determined by the advertiser (you can check out how to analyze Adsense CPC here: How to find high paying keywords). If the advertisers willing to pay more for their ads, it means that ads has high CPC, if it get clicked by user(s), it will give you high amount of earnings.

Clickthrough Rate (CTR)
Clickthrough Rate is the number of ads is clicked divided by the number the ads is shown. Example, if your ads is clicked 10 times and that ads is displayed 1000 times then you get 1% of CTR. The number of CTR will vary depends on the websites or blog . But the average CTR is below 4% CTR and above 0,5 CTR.

Effective CPM (eCPM)
Known as Earning per 1000 impressions. eCPM helps you estimate how much will you earn per 1000 impressions you have. The formula of eCPM is rather easy= the earnings you got one day divided by the number of ads clicked multiply it by 1000. Keep in mind that this is only an estimated value.

Content
Whoop. Save the best for last dude! The content of your blog/websites is important factor too! If you have good content, it’s easier for crawlers to provide the right targeted ads for your blog/websites.

The combination of all those factors will help you get higher earnings on Adsense . So do not only focus on one aspect of factors. Do not emphasize Adsense CPC only, but optimize all aspects for your better earnings. The rule of thumb for getting the best visibility is by ensuring that your website is in top of search results when someone is looking for something relevant in top search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc. But what about making money using your website?
One ideal idea to earn serious cash with your website or your blog is to join one of the list advertising programs like Google adsense program. However, you should learn too how to maximize your earning and the easiest way of ensuring this is by using adsense optimized templates.
These templates help in taking out the hard work when building any kind of site. And, till the time of writing this article, it is considered as one of the top rated association business development ideas.
Earning money from Google is possible through adsense code insertion on each page, which I do recommend for you as this program is almost a free home business. Since this is a cumbersome process, it is easier to just go about doing this by using an adsense optimized template for your website.
But why should you be motivated to do this?
In this manner, you can ensure that:
* You will get the right kind of visitors as your traffic is really a targeted one.
* You will maximize your click-through-rate (CTR) and, therefore, increase your level of earning.
Since it is also an effective way of earning revenue for the site it is hosted on, it seems to have a high acceptance rate both, from the website hosts as well as the company or product that it is being advertised with it.
Are there any other programs that they worth your attention?
There are also other advertising programs like Google adsense, but the program of Google is the dominating one both in terms of revenue and popularity. In fact, the sheer number of adsense optimized templates should tell you about how popular it is in on the internet.
Do you really have to do this?
However, you do not necessarily have to go in for an adsense optimized template if you do not want to. Since it is possible to alter your website at a later stage to accommodate the modifications required by any other search engine, there is no particular need to do it when you are designing the website initially itself.
Additionally, there are other ways to integrate Google advertising program in your site without having to change too much of its design, when the need arises.
How does an adsense optimized template look like?
* No more than 2 ads blocks per page to appear professionally.
* The first block should be placed on the left side of the page as a navigation links.
* The second one should be placed at the bottom of your text in case your reader wants more info. This will increase your CTR.
* The title of your ad should look like a natural hyperlink and the text should appear like the other text on your web page.
* Avoid any black hat techniques like pointing to your ads, asking your visitors to click on the ads, etc.

Improve Adsense earnings using Google Custom Search

My experience made me to write article for my beloved readers to know the importance of Google custom search to make more money with adsense. Actually we all think that there is no importance in adding Google custom search If there is an integrated Search box already in your blog. Moreover Blogger/Wordpress themes are well integrated with a Search box which makes your work easier. Thus we are not aware about the Google Custom search which will provide good site search with an amazing earnings(CPC & eCPm).

My Experience

I started focusing on Google Custom search when I saw it on another blog. I was sure that it will make wonder in my blogs which is getting more Search Conducts.

Thus I told the matter to my bro Simjo Sunny and as per my request he changed the usual site search of his blog (Nupsout –Tips & Tricks) to a google Custom site search using adsense.

an average of 150 search Conducts was going on with Nupsout daily (We found it from adsense stats) and we got 7 clicks on the first day itself. The earnings was amazing as we got an average of $1.50 while we were getting almost $0.20 – $0.50 per click for common ad units. The change in our adsense earnings from the first day of adding custom search made us to use it for ever with his blog. I’m planning to insert custom search for mextena too, although I will only decide it after several days because of the problems due to this wordpress theme.

How to Create a Google Adsense Custom Search

For creating custom search using your Google adsense account, login to your adsense account Create a new search ad unit. After giving the asked informations for creating a site search, They will ask you to add certain channel (keywords). Here you must add some relevant and short keywords matching your usual search queries. Now finish of the designing of the ad blending to your blog theme. Everything is fine Now! You’ll get a Some Javascript Codes which you have to put in certain places (I’m not much aware about it as my brother did this for me)

Your Custom Search is Now ready and Here the Magic Starts!

How to Make More Money with Google Adsense Custom Search

While a reader conduct a search in your blog using custom search, the relevant ads will appear on the top of the search results which will make readers to pass their eyes through the ads. So if the ads are relevant according to the search query (Most probably it is), There is a lot of chance to get more ad clicks.

Google is attempting to show the relevant & Top paying ads in search results. Thus each ad clicks from search will gain you more than an ad click from usual ad units. Even though the Niche of your blog is worthless, I am sure that you will make big bucks with this trick.

Anyway I am very happy to be with Google Custom search for using in blogs/websites. So I recommend all of my readers to use it for a better earnings. Good Luck!

Blogger Blogspot Tutorials :Make Adsense Friendly Privacy Policy page for your blog or website

As per the new terms & conditions made by Google Adsense a few days ago, all the publishers have to post a Privacy Policy in their sites advising the visitors specifically about cookies and web beacons. If you don't agree with the new conditions , you'll be kicked out of the Google Adsense program at the end of May.
Here is what the new policy says :

"You must have and abide by an appropriate privacy policy that complies with applicable privacy and data protection laws and that clearly discloses that third parties may be placing and reading cookies on your users’ browser, or using web beacons to collect information, in the course of ads being served on your website. Your privacy policy should also include information about user options for cookie management."

Cookies & Web beacons:
Most adsense publishers are familiar with http cookies (or web cookies). They are a small parcels of text sent by a server to a web client(browser) and then sent back unchanged by the client each time he/she accesses that server. But the term Web beacon may be new to you.
A web beacon (also known as tracking pixel or pixel tag or clear GIF) is a small transparent graphic image (usually 1 pixel height and 1 pixel width) that is placed on a website or even in an email that is used to moniter the behavior of the client/user visiting the webpage, to find out some user information like IP address, etc.
So, to abide the new terms of Adsense, you have to include an appropriate Privacy policy in your site/blog.
If you are new or not sure how you need to create a Privacy Policy, Don't worry! There are a few Adsense Privacy Policy Generators which will make your life easier.. SERPRank's Privacy Policy Generator is one of those.

Adsense click fraud is a fools’ game

Click fraud is the act of clicking on ads for the purpose of falsely acquiring income from advertisers. It’s equivalent to paying in cash for false leads. Click fraud is a breach of the Google Adsense Terms of Service.

Click fraud is a fools’ game

Clicking on your friend’s blog advertising for them and/or forming a click fraud community, and expecting that you will not be detected is stupid. When you get caught you will be banned and blacklisted.

How to report click fraud

If you know a publisher engaging in click fraud and generating invalid clicks, you can now report the publisher by going to his or her site, clicking on the “Ads by Google” and including “invalid clicks” in the comment field. You can remain anonymous, or include your email address when you submit it.

Google is specifically targeting invalid clicks, such as click bots, click rings, “hired to click”, etc.

Advertisers who track fraudulently generated clicks to a single publisher should also be able to report this way (although you should also go through the AdWords report method as well). Reference

Reporting publishers for click fraud will result in their accounts being banned and them being blacklisted.

Some webmasters use Google Adsense to generate 100% of their website income and the account may hold many different websites. In that case, every website is disabled at one time. An automatic disqualification can be devastating, especially when Google has no obligation to explain its decision in detail so read the contract! Not only does the account become disabled, but also existing click-through earnings are refunded back to the advertisers.

Is it that easy to get an account banned? Yes it is. The terms of service every Google Adsense Webmaster accepts, clearly describes the easy do’s and don’ts.

Do use the Adsense approved formats only.

Do keep your click-through data and income private.

Don’t display Adsense on registration or thank you pages.

Don’t use Adsense code and a competitor’s content-targeted advertisement on the same page.

Don’t encourage anyone else to click on ads.

For a complete list, read the Adsense policies and terms.

The easiest method an account can be banned is by a webmaster clicking on the site’s own ads. Just how many click-throughs are needed to get a site banned isn’t exposed for obvious reasons, but Google Adsense watches for multiple clicks from the same domain. Spikes in click-through percentages are red flags. A site that rises from a consistent 1% click-through rate to a 10% click-through rate rapidly could become suspect. The actual percentage that creates the flag isn’t made public for obvious reasons.

What’s the safest way to protect an account?
Don’t click on the site’s own ads ever.

Deceptive practices work for a short time, but they always come back to hurt the originator.

Firefox Plugin – Monitor AdSense earnings from Firefox statusbar

For all the those out there who keep logging in to AdSense multiple times a day, here is a nifty Firefox addon that will make your life easier.

Instead of logging into your account multiple times a day to check in your stats, your earnings and key metrics are reported and updated all day in your Firefox status bar, with this Firefox addon.

Features

Common reporting time periods (today, yesterday, last 7 days etc.)

Custom update frequency

AdSense stats for Content, Feeds, Search, Mobile, & Domains

Scrolling notifier or single line view of data

Customizable actions for left and right mouse clicks

Secure local password management and login

Support for multiple currency symbols (Euro,GBP etc.)

Better authentication methods

Looks like it will save a lot of time, but how is it going to increase your AdSense earnings ? While there are hundreds of techniques to do this – I thought I’d post my top five that have worked for me and my company in growing our domain revenue. Remember, at the end of the day your domains should get traffic organically from search engines. If you are paying for traffic then you aren’t really growing a passive income stream and what makes an investment an investments is something that grows on its own.

1) Stop Parking your Domains
This is the #1 way we have improved our revenue across our portfolio. Parking can be one of the worst ways to monetize your domain names. Even putting a one-page mini-site up with 500 words of SEO-optimized text will rank better on Google than a parked page and the revenue from Google Adsense is oftentimes 10x that of parking! Using a solution like WhyPark is a great way to get a real website with content on your domain quickly.

2) Use Blogs for Rapid Development
Using a blogging platform like Wordpress can be an excellent way to build a nice-looking site on your domain that is easy to update and add features to. Even updating the content on your site once a month is better than just putting-up a static page and never updating it.

3) Let your bad names drop!
This is one of the hardest things for new Domainers to do but you absolutely have to do this! Go through your portfolio and really determine which names are good investments. You can use tools like the DNJournal Sales Lists, NameBio, and Estibot to get a rough idea of what your domain is worth. If you are paying thousands of dollars in renewal fees every year for domains that aren’t even worth the reg fee then you may be losing money rather than making money!

4) Keyword Research
Take the time to use a tool like the Google Adwords Keyword tool or WordTracker to identify the best keywords to use on each of your domains. If you use popular keywords that people are actively searching for you can build-up organic search traffic to your domains.

5) Interactivity
Making your domains interactive by allowing users to either add content or communicate with each other is a great way to create repeat traffic on your domains. Most parking pages get a visitor only once and then they never return. Give users a reason to return to your domain by making it interactive.

I could have written hundreds of bullet points here but wanted to give five essential ways to improve your domain investments. Feel free to comment and share your own top five list!

Why Doesn’t Google Consolidate Login Procedures?

Over the past few weeks I’ve been keeping track of the different ways each Google service handles login procedures. I would have thought that once I am “cookied” by a Google service that all services would authenticate my session in the same manner — this is not the case. Below are some of the Google services and what happens when I attempt to load the service assuming that I am already cookied.

Gmail – takes me right into my mailbox with no login screen

Google Checkout – forces me to enter my password each time but displays my username

Feedburner – takes me directly into the my main list of managed feeds

Google AdSense – displays a login page but the login box is missing and a “waiting” note and then I am taken directly into my account

Google AdWords – takes me directly to my management screen

Google Webmaster – displays a similar screen to Google AdSense but I am forced to click the login button but am never prompted for a password

iGoogle – takes me directly to my customized home page

YouTube - clicking upload takes me directly to the upload screen

Google Reader – takes me directly to my RSS feeds

Orkut - takes me directly to my account management page

Google Groups – takes me to my groups management page

Google Docs – takes me directly to my documents management page

Google Calendar – takes me directly to my calendar

Blogger – forces me to login using my Google account information

At first I was thinking that it’s great that Google forces me to enter my password when I want to process orders for my startup in Google Checkout. But if that’s the case, shouldn’t Google AdSense follow the same authentication pattern? What about Google Docs and Calendar – documents in both of those services could be just as sensitive as financial information in Google Checkout/AdSense or AdWords.
Earlier this week we had over 1,500 comments on our Gmail down post. Many of the comments (and in emails I received) noted how many confidential and important documents are held in user’s Gmail accounts.

My question to ya’all and to Google is simple – why not follow the same procedures for all Google services? Or perhaps the better option is to allow users to select what level of authentication they would like for each service. Either way, I’d like to see some consistency based on the “security level” of each application.

Category Filter Of Google Adsense

The Google AdSense program is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it can provide much-needed funds to help run a website, on the other the ads can be very annoying especially if they are for get rich quick, dating, and weight loss schemes, when readers aren’t in the faintest bit interested in such things.
As such, I’ve switched back and forth over the years between running AdSense ads and not. The cash generated by the program for Sciencetext is low, it just about covers hosting costs each month. That said, if there is a traffic spike it might bump up the $$$ temporarily, and pay for my coffee that morning too.
Meanwhile, Google has finally added a new level of filtering for publishers and bloggers so that they can block certain types of ads. Needless to say, as soon as this was enabled on my AdSense account I immediately blocked the ads that are most commonly scams and other junk.
If you’re running AdSense on your site, the Ad Review Centre is where you want to be (it’s under the AdSense Setup tab) set select up to five categories of ads to block on your own site. If you know how to run AdSense, then I don’t need to hand-hold you through the category selection process. The ARC tells you what percentage of your AdSense revenue comes from each ad category. Of course, I wouldn’t block any that make a substantial amount for you, unless you’re feeling overly generous.
Meanwhile, you will continue to see contextual ads on Sciencetext but you will no longer be exposed to the most irrelevant and irritating categories. Of course, if you’re using NoScript or AdBlock+ in Firefox, you probably aren’t even aware that Sciencetext is running AdSense at all. Although if you are, you may be depriving me of my coffee too, sadly…

New Google AdSense Network Partners Could Make Top Sites More Expensive

Google AdSense network partners can now bid on display advertising positions at top AdSense publisher sites, potentially making top-performing sites more expensive.

Most ecommerce marketers are familiar with Google AdWords, the pay-per-click advertising platform that lets merchants post ads on Google search results pages or network partner sites. Google AdSense is the corresponding service that connects site publishers with AdWords. Specifically, a publisher can register for AdSense and allow Google to place ads on its site. When a merchant buys a keyword, he or she can select from Google's content network, which consists of AdSense publishers.

In an effort to boost revenue for AdSense users (and, presumably, itself), Google has now opened up AdSense to third-party ad networks (agencies or ad serving companies) who will be able to bid for ad positions on the same sites that AdWords users compete for.

AdSens has always been something of an ad auction, with AdWords users competing for space not just on Google, but also on top-content publishers' sites. In the new arrangement, AdWords users will compete with agencies or other ad networks for the same space on publishers' sites.

Google Adsense Earnings

Do you still doubt that you could earn money online (internet)? Heard of Google Adsense but is so skeptical or just so hopeless with it? That’s what I’m thinking for about 2 yrs and 6 months! Well, not now, just received my first google adsense payout thru Western Union. Finally, I can say that it’s true!

Thanks to google for such great advertising and publishing program. This is one passive income that anyone can have! I know, there are many out there who are earning big bucks thru google adsense, they are just so lucky enough to be receiving every month with thousands of cash or even becoming an instant millionaire-passive income.

What is Adsense?

AdSense is an ad serving application run by Google Inc. Website owners can enroll in this program to enable text, image, and more recently, video advertisements on their websites. These advertisements are administered by Google and generate revenue on either a per-click or per-impression basis. Google beta tested a cost-per-action service, but discontinued it in October 2008 in favor of a DoubleClick offering (also owned by Google).- Wikipedia

How it Works?

• The webmaster inserts the AdSense JavaScript code into a webpage.
• Each time this page is visited, the JavaScript code uses inlined JSON to display content fetched from Google’s servers.
• For contextual advertisements, Google’s servers use a cache of the page to determine a set of high-value keywords. If keywords have been cached already, advertisements are served for those keywords based on the AdWords bidding system. (More details are described in the AdSense patent.)
• For site-targeted advertisements, the advertiser chooses the page(s) on which to display advertisements, and pays based on cost per mille (CPM), or the price advertisers choose to pay for every thousand advertisements displayed.[9][10]
• For referrals, Google adds money to the advertiser’s account when visitors either download the referred software or subscribe to the referred service.[11] The referral program was retired in August 2008.[12]
• Search advertisements are added to the list of results after the visitor performs a search.
• Because the JavaScript is sent to the Web browser when the page is requested, it is possible for other website owners to copy the JavaScript code into their own webpages. To protect against this type of fraud, AdSense customers can specify the pages on which advertisements should be shown. AdSense then ignores clicks from pages other than those specified.

What niche to target?

Personally, on my observation, it’s best that your site caters to a certain niche. Example: sites dedicated solely about money, credit, cars, travels and hotels, food, celebrities, religion, gadgets, book reviews, etc. It has something to do with relevant contents that you publish in your site. Some niches mentioned above might generate high-paying ads.

So far, sites with contents related to financials, health, cars and credit cards have high cost per click ads. Of course, it’s important that your site has high traffic or the number of visitors that might stumble or be directed to your site. The many visitors/readers, the greater chance that they will click on our google ads with related topics on what they search online. It’s good to maintain a good content and utilization of certain keywords.

How to utilize keywords?

If you have travel a site, you may explore the use of keywords related to it such as travel, tours, hotels, hostel, trip, vacation, flight, tourist, destination, etc. Many people are searching these terms in google.

You have to observe on what they call Keyword density. This means the many times you use the keyword in your article. It’s computed by dividing the total number of keyword used over the total number of words in the article. It is recommended that you maintain a 3% keyword density. Example, the word: travel. It should appear thrice (3x) in article of 100 words.

It’s suggested that the word may appear in the first sentence of your paragraph, anywhere in your middle paragraph, and in the last sentence of your last paragraph. Basically, just fairly distributing the keyword all throughout the article.

This is just one of the many Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques in making use of google adsense. Just simply have your own site on a particular niche. Learn the basic of adsense and it’s techniques. Voila! You have now your own passive income online thru google adsense. Will be discussing more on SEO and adsense tips and secrets to be shared to you. There have been several professional marketers who utilize the concepts of Adsense in order to improve the profit picture for the associated internet business. You can study their methods and use them on your own site or you can utilize a mentor to provide a more targeted approach with your own business. Most of the tips provided are common sense activities, while others are related to the type of business or website that you are using.

Use Free Articles
Adsense revenue can be increased by using the adwords you have selected in various places in addition to your own website. For example, you can create and submit articles to locations on the internet where such submissions are welcomed. Free articles with substantive information are always helpful to create interest in a site. Such articles should be related to the topic of the site and should be well written with accurate information. You want potential customers to perceive the information in a positive light so that they will be more willing to purchase the products or services you are marketing.

Participate in Forums
Another way to increase your potential for Adsense revenue is to participate in forums that are related to the products or services that you are promoting. Posts on forums or discussion sites have the advantage of grouping visitors who are interested in a specific subject or niche market. This is a logical place for searchers to go for information on the subject. Again, make certain that the information you provide is accurate and timely. You should never post just to list a group of adwords on a specific topic. This doesn’t increase your income and may have a negative effect on the entire website.

Improve your Search Engine Optimization
Keeping your website in top condition is another method by which to increase your Adsense revenue levels. If you know and use the commonly accepted practices for search engine optimization on your website, you are likely to increase your page ranking and thus the amount of web traffic that is visiting your site. Obviously, the more visitors you achieve, the more likely that you are to have customers who purchase the products or services you are promoting. Make the content king and present it in a way that will be popular with the major search engines.

Deliver on Promises
It is critically important that you match your delivery with the promises you have made. Even if you don’t think of the adwords you use as a promise, the potential customer certainly will. If he or she finds a link leading to your site on a certain subject, the expectation is that the information will be available on your site in an easily accessible location. Adsense revenue is not developed through tricks and sleight of hand, but through delivery of real information in an understandable manner for the searcher.
--
Use the web site at http://www.goodinternetmoney.com/four-great-ideas-to-increase-adsense-revenue.php in order to find additional ways to improve your Adsense Revenue.

Which visitors will click your ads and which ones won't

When monetizing your blog or website, it's important to understand which web visitors will click your advertisements and which ones will not. Knowing the performance of the various visitors types, especially when it comes to ads, is crucial knowledge as a web business owner or operator.

How to find out who is clicking your Ads

The best part about Google's services such as Adsense and Analytics is that they work together (note: you can also integrate Adwords with your Analytics account). You can integrate your Analytics to show visitor and traffic data with regards to your Adsense performance. The setup is easy and only takes a few quick steps. Once you do that you can see who is clicking your ads and who isn't.

What you're likely to see

Once you integrate Adsense and Analytics, you will most likely see that your organic search traffic are the visitors that are actually clicking your advertisements. Why is that? I believe this is because of the following reasons:

Repeat visitors (non search traffic) are likely to already have trained eyes when it comes to your layout and content. This means that they are trained to not see your advertisements, and as a result, not click them. For the same reason, your readers almost never click on ads while reading your RSS Feeds.

Search traffic visitors are looking for answers and are likely to click on an ad (and leave your page) if they think it will get them closer to the answer to the question for which they originally searched.

Why do you need repeat visitors then?

If we're not monetizing our repeat traffic then do we even need them? Yes, we do. First, there are other monetization methods; for example, affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is likely to do better with repeat traffic, because these visitors are much more likely to trust you and your recommendations.

Also, repeat visitors helps build your website or blog brand as well as build your general traffic data which is important for other web rankings and metrics (Alexa).

Conclusion

To conclude, both repeat traffic and one-time search hits are important to your blog. When it comes to ads, it's rare (but not impossible) that your repeat visitors will be the ones helping you earn money through Adsense, but your repeat visitors are valuable for other reasons.

Pursue both types of traffic. Integrate your Analytics and Adsense and study the results. Modify your traffic and monetization strategies based upon the findings. Continuous testing and tweaking is the endless process of an effective website owner.

Google opens AdSense to ad networks

With Google working to add revenue for its AdSense members, it has decided to open up its system to ad networks.

According to the Inside AdSense blog, members will have the ability to allow multiple Google-certified ad networks to compete for display ad space on their sites. With this change, ad networks can also bid in Google’s auction to appear on AdSense sites. This new capability will help members generate the most profit for every ad that appears on their sites, whether the ads come from AdWords advertisers or Google-certified ad networks.

Google will be certifying all participating ad networks for adherence to its standards for user privacy, ad quality, and speed, and members will have control over which networks can show ads on their pages. The company says it will be slowly begin allowing ads from Google-certified ad networks to appear on AdSense pages over the coming months, so members won’t see an immediate impact on ads or earnings.

Why it is difficult to make money using Adsense for Feeds

When Google Adsense enhanced their capabilities by integrated with RSS feeds, bloggers around the world were ecstatic. Finally, we could make money off those subscribers that we worked so hard to increase! Or, could we?

Most bloggers acknowledge that the click-thru rates (CTR) for RSS feed ads are very low, almost nonexistent. In almost every case, your CTR will be much, much lower on your feeds than the actual website.

Why are click-thru rates for RSS feed ads so low? I believe the following may contribute to the low CTR:

Readers of RSS feeds already have their eyes trained on what to look for which almost always makes them glaze over the advertisements, rarely resulting in a click.

RSS readers are reading for content and nothing else, whereas web traffic from a search engine is looking for information, additional resources, etc. By looking for a range of resources or options, they are much more willing to consider clicking on an advertisement.

Because of the low monetization of RSS feeds, you have to ask yourself, should we really be pushing people to subscribe to our content? Doesn't this just lower traffic and thus, advertising revenue?

We have long been told by "expert bloggers" that the RSS count is gold, that it is one of the most important metrics for measuring our blogging success. It may be time to reconsider this notion.

My solution over at 20smoney.com is to obviously continue to offer an RSS subscription option for individuals looking to read my content without having to navigate to my site, but I'm definitely not going to pull out all the stops when it comes to trying to get people to subscribe.

From now on, if you want to subscribe, feel free. If not, it's no sweat. I'll let my content dictate the traffic.

Making Big Money With 9 Proven Adsense Alternatives

Many website owners are making money using Google s AdSense code, but there are several who find it a little too wishy washy or simply have issues with using Google all together. Or maybe it just doesn’t live up to their own needs from an advertisement program.
But thankfully for such individuals, there are several alternatives to AdSense which do their best to alleviate some of the stigmatism around Adsense. Here is a listing of the most notable ones from the group with a explanation in relation to each one.
AdHearus.Com AdHearus is a very feature packed contextual ad supplier. As with AdSense, advertisements are targeted but it doesn’t end here at all. The ads are extremely flexible, you can choose from text ads, banners, rectangles, pop ups, pop unders or skyscrapers. You can also show your own ads, through rotation, both on your site and on other affiliate sites, which makes AdHearus a hybrid with traditional advertising possibilities. There’s a very thorough on line real time reporting feature and, as usual with such click programs, starting out is free and it’s a snap.
Affiliatesensor.Com AffiliateSensor has highly adjustable ad blocks, that you can generate for yourself with an simple to use on line interface. You also get realtime reporting with clicks by domain, page and refferer. There’s integration with Google AdSense as well, through the google_alternate_ad_url so AffiliateSensor can be used as a alternative for Google PSA’s (Public Service Ads).
Allfeeds.Com AllFeeds has a huge pool of online advertisers to pick from. It also has many display formats that you can select from. These include banners, buttons, XML feeds, DHTML pop ups and so on. It also features real time reporting of your ad status. The site will mail a check each month, provided that you make more than $25.00, but will pass over earnings for the next month if you don t. An additional appealing thing about AllFeeds is that it works with with Google AdSense, maximizing your revenue with AdSense.
Bidclix.Com BidClix is unique for the reason that it has advertisers compete for clicks on your site, which in turn is intended to generate the highest potential profits for your page. It also has a very generous pool of advertisers which ensure there are a lot of people to select your site. However, it does require additional polish on site content than AdSense. As almost all sites, real time statistics are accessible and its very simple to get started with this program, but it’s also very flexible.
Chitika, Realcontext.Com RealContext uses Artificial intelligence to gather the most appropriate ads for your site. And there’s an added feature which makes RealContext unique as well. Keywords are chosen based upon which preceding selections payed off and which didn’t. That means there’s a ongoing feedback procedure that ensures you gain better income from your ads. It also supports blocking specific adds and child safe filtering and many additional options.
Clicksor.Com Clicksor will also earn you as much as 60 from the amount of money your website generates. What you get is just about the same as AdSense, there are targeted text ads, you can survey the revenues from your website in real time. You can receive money via PayPal or via a check every two weeks, provided that you have earned more than $50. If you haven’t made that much, your balance will be passed to the next payout period.
Kanoodle.Com Kanoodle’s program allows publishers to acquire ads associated to topics or segments, and not the conventional keyword geared ads. The site also groups publisher sites with advertisers manually to ensure high revenue generating ads. Most importantly, the amount of cash you collect is a clear 50 share of the total money Kanoodle collects for an advertiser.
Marketbanker.Com MarketBanker gives you the unique ability to set the pricing for your site. It also lets you to accept or reject any link that shows up on your site (AdSense itself does a extremely good job of this as well, with URL filters) There’s also a stats area which will allow you to see how well your site is doing. The ads disply the same as AdSense’s and they re just as straightforward to set up. Also, registration for MarketBanker is free.
Targetpoint.Com TargetPoint is oriented mostly towards content publishers. It offers full control over the look the ads, statistics on your site s total performance and higher revenue. It’s free to register and you earn a guaranteed 60 of the entire revenue. You can get paid with Paypal of Bank checks and (most times) wire transfers as well.
So there are several Adsense alternatives when you re trying to make more money from your websites. The key is to find out what works for you and capitalize on cheaper clicks and higher revenue sharing.

Are you losing money with Google Adsense?

Are you losing money with Google Adsense? by Kevin Scott
So you have created a great website, your traffic is increasing each day, and you have began earning some money from those Adsense ads you strategically placed. Adsense is a great source for income but are you getting the most money out of those ads as you can? The answer may be no.

Many of the top webmasters and marketers use a great tool that can be utilized when generating your Adsense codes. It is very simple to use but very few people actually utilize this feature, and the ones that are may not be using it correctly, which could be costing you with each visitor to your web page. The feature that I am referring to is the 'Alternate URL' option. If you are letting Google place Public Service Ads on your site then when there is no current relevant ads to show then only a PSA shows which you get no compensation for. These alternate ads only show up when Google has no ads to show that are relevant to the content on your site.

The trick to using this feature effectively is to find an alternate site that pays a high click rate. There are several affiliate sites that have these codes set up and I have tried a few of them. There were a couple where the payouts were not worth my time but there are other that are paying up to $12 to $15 per click. After just a few days of using the alternate feature you will see an increase in the number of impressions and you won't have any lost clicks. Once I started using the alternate url I saw a sharp increase in the number of clicks I was getting. I also started keeping track on which ads had the highest click through rates and the higher payouts. I narrowed these down to just a few that I use now, but there is one that still gets a great response. The best part about setting these up are they are usually 100% free to join.

Here are a few steps to get started:
1. Locate websites that offer this functionality, the one I use most frequently is http://kcspro.com/modernclick
2. Once you sign up with these programs some are instant and others may take a couple of hours for approval.
3. Sign into your Google Adsense account.
4. Once in Adsense Setup go to Alternate ads or colors and select 'Show ads from another URL'.
5. Type in the url you got from your affiliate site, for example - http://moderncl1ck.com/eb/3/xxxx/0 - where the 'xxxx' is type in your own code.
6. Generate your Adsense code.
7. Paste your Adsense code on your webpage.
That is all you need to do to start maximizing your Adsense earnings. It is very easy and only takes a few minutes to get it set up, and the long term benefits from using the Alternate URL option are huge.

Kevin resides in Arizona with his lovely wife and his young son.
