A lot of studies show that the average Internet user will only stay on a website between thirty seconds and one minute. That doesn’t give you very much time to grab their attention and convince them to buy your product. There is likely a lot of competition out there for the products or services you offer so you need to make yourself stand out right away. It will help by having headlines that will get the attention of readers while using your keywords.

Don’t be afraid to be entertaining! Your content doesn’t have to sound stuffy and dull. Make your content enjoyable to read and the customers will keep coming back. Be snarky, add a little humor or put a unique spin on it. Content should be engaging.

Step 3: Be Customer-Friendly

The Internet can be a very impersonal marketplace. That doesn’t mean you can’t treat your customers as you would if they were there in person. How would you talk to your customers if you had a brick-and-mortar store? Be personable. Chat them up. Form a bond, which will create a loyalty that isn’t often seen in too many businesses today.

Think about how you would want to be treated as a customer. What would you want to hear from a seller? What would make you trust them enough to hand over your money? You don’t have to throw a bunch of razzle-dazzle at them, but customers want to be handled in a friendly, thoughtful manner. And putting a smile on their face goes a long way in getting repeat customers.

Article marketing is just like any other form of marketing strategy. You need to put yourself in the customer’s shoes and figure out what they want to hear and how. Listen to your inner consumer and you will soon know exactly what you need to do to improve your article marketing efforts.

Keep your body healthy. You need to be healthy in order to stay motivated and focused. Get the rest you need each night. Do not view past failures without looking at how you can turn them into something positive.

If there is something to be learned, figure it out and then move on from that past mistake. Dwelling on the negative will bring you no benefits. Tell yourself: I can’t believe this happened, but this is what I can do to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

Analyze the things you have done in the past and file them into two categories: things that helped me succeed or things that caused me to fail. When you have these things written out in front of you, it is easier to avoid repeating mistakes. Focus on the things that will keep you on the right path.

The mistakes you have made in the past during hopeless situations can be heavy stones that will sink you if you hold onto them for too long. Instead, use those things to create stepping stones that will help you cross the depths and reach your achievements.

The meaning of the silver lining is to give you hope. It is a beacon to show you that there is more behind the dark cloud. Once it has passed, you are given the opportunity to make something happen. Whether that something is positive or negative is up to you.

Using bullet points or numbered entries is fantastic! Not only will it cut down the time spent on writing an article (since you don’t have to formulate a complete sentence or think about transitions from paragraph to paragraph) but it is also helps the reader to easily navigate the article and break up content.

5. Short and Sweet:

Articles that are 500 words are less are perfect for writing articles within the 20-minute time frame. What is most important here is to focus on the type of content. It needs to be content rich to make up for the shortness. Your article should be chalked full of valuable content.

6. Take a break:

More times than not, a nice break from work will benefit your motivation and inspiration. Writing can be a hard task some days, so it’s better not to force out words and rather, take a break, come back and let the words flow.

7. Use your good idea NOW:

Try and maintain this list to be as specific as you can possibly make it. The clearer you are, the more your mind will feel at ease. Overall, this is a way to get the thoughts out of your mind and onto paper, so your mind doesn’t have to keep wondering about it.

Here are a few brief examples:

• Don’t: get more clients, make more income

Do: gain two new clients per month, increase my freelance income by $1,000

• Don’t: get better at designing

• Don’t: increase my website’s traffic

3. Write down a list of things that you’ve been doing that are unnecessary

Step three can be daunting since most of us think that the things we do are all necessary. However, if you can sit down and really put some thought into your daily routine, and find areas that are necessary, it can help you tremendously. Tasks that can be labeled as unnecessary are those that seem to be important but actually hold little to no importance when trying to get the things done that you need to do.

It’s important, when developing this list, to be completely brutally honest with yourself. If you’re not honest, these simple things can hold you back greatly. A major aspect to clearing your mind is to be effective, not only productive. If you have trouble making this list, take the 80-20 Rule to help you, write down 80% of tasks that are not necessary and that only help with 20% of your desired accomplishments.

The main goal of this step is to see where you can give yourself more leeway to do other goal-oriented tasks all the while, clearing up more of your mind. Sometimes these tasks are quite small and go unnoticed until you write them down.

4. Perform the essentials

Now is the time to really put the 80-20 Rule into your plan. Taking your list from step 2, complete each of those tasks and stop! These are the tasks that will help you accomplish your clearly stated goal from step 1. This is also where you STOP doing the things you listed from Step 3.

It may be hard to completely quit the things you listed from step 3, but you have to try, and even if you stop doing one-to-two things at a time, it will help. Face it, we’re all human and life is a total learning experience. The best way to do anything, I have learned, is step-by-step. Start with the smaller things and work your way up, I know it will help you and it will give you encouragement to keep going.

5. Now your mind is clearer, better enjoy it!

If you’re using step 4 (which is implementing steps 1-3) you’re on your way to doing less in a day but seeing the same or more results, which therefore, will help you to clear your mind and be able to focus on the things that really need attention.

You are now being not only productive but effective.

Since you’ve made these lists, defined your goals and are doing away with the unnecessary, you’ll have more time to focus on what needs to be focused on and you’ll be able to enjoy it. When your mind is clear and you’re able to provide attention, other areas of interest will start to be important such as:

• Finding ways to do more of the work you love
• Improve and expand your business
• More time for your ideas that have been put on the back burner
• Learning how to live out the lifestyle you really want
• And other things you feel are important

Much of this technique will be better maximized through trial and error. You must consistently stick with it. To wrap it up, here’s how to clear your mind:

I talk to bloggers just about every day. For a while last year my blogging blog was on page 1 for the Google search “blogging”, though we are now on page 3. With each passing year I am continually amazed by just how many bloggers are convinced that there is a BIG SEO secret out there. The conversations seem to follow a familiar pattern. It goes something like this.

Blogger: “Hi Adam, how can I get to page 1 in Google?”

Adam: “It’s a TON of hard work, very incremental, takes a long time and requires some really good content and some awesome backlinks.”

Blogger: “Thanks, I’ve heard all that before, so tell me REALLY how to get to page 1 now.”

They are convinced there is an SEO secret that I won’t tell them. These bloggers feel that if they could just discover the piece of knowledge they don’t have, they will be richly rewarded with huge rankings, traffic and money. They just know it. Since this sentiment is so prevalent, I’ve made it my mission to try to set the record straight with the truth about SEO. And the truth is: The big SEO secret is that there is no SEO secret.

The BIG SEO blogging secret: There is no secret

This is the point in the blog post where I lose most readers. Due to the very phenomena described above, most readers will leave this blog post and continue their frantic search for the secret blogging SEO secret that will instantly solve their problems.

For the 5% of readers who are still with me; Congratulations! You have finally graduated from the masses of mediocrity and are ready to start your journey to success with SEO and blogging. And this was a big step. If you jump over this hurdle, you are mentally ready for the challenge ahead. And most importantly you’ve figured out that you are wasting valuable time searching for an answer that you probably already know.

The second big SEO secret for bloggers: The time you waste searching for SEO tips could have you on page 1 already.

How many forums do you read? How many blog posts do you follow? Make a mental calculation of all the time you spend on “TIP searching” activities and let’s do a little exercise.

Thomas Edison said these great words more than 100 years ago. And I think they apply as much to SEO, blogging and the Internet as they did to his endeavor to invent the light bulb.

While great ideas are required once in a while to jump-start a project (such as a new blog or to find new SEO keywords to go after), the idea-generation needs to be outweighed by a ratio of 99:1 with work. Plain, simple, non-sexy, work. It’s hard. It’s monotonous. It doesn’t sell tabloids. But hard work is still at the heart of why your website or blog is not on page 1 in Google.

And at the risk of becoming a marginalized motivational blogger, I urge you to stop reading, reflect on what you already know about SEO, and think about how you can get more done with the time you already apply to your blog. You already know about keyword selection.
